Alice em metamorfose: o grotesco e o nonsense em diálogo nas obras de Carroll e Svankmajer / Alice through metamorphosis: the dialog of grotesque and nonsense in Carrolls and Svankmajers work

Thomaz, Nathalia Xavier 29 March 2012 (has links)
This thesis studies, through comparison, the grotesqu e found in the manuscript by Lewis ,jer. In view of the difference between their narrative fields, the specific traits of each medium were taken into consideration, and it was recognized how both the writer and the film director developed aesthetics in their work. To refine the analysis, some aspects were selected: the beginning of the stories, the White Rabbit character, the size changes through which Alice goes, the joining together of hu mor and horror, and the ending of the tales. We remark how these elements, so distinguished in Carrolls manuscript, echo in the work of the surrealist filmmaker, leading him to the creation of a film capable of masterly increasing the elements in the aesthetic of the grotesqu e, establishing a creative dialogue with the writer from the Victorian era.

Jan Šembera Černohorský z Boskovic a lichtenštejnské dědictví / Jan Sembera Cernohorsky of Boskovice and the heritage of the House of Liechtenstein

Dufková, Kateřina January 2012 (has links)
This diploma thesis is dedicated to Jan Sembera Cernohorsky of Boskovice, Moravian aristocrat from the second half of 16th century, the last descendant of an important family of Boskovice. It describes his life story from the childhood to the death which it puts into the broader context and creates a comprehensive view of the higher nobles of his time. Particular attention is paid to the family of Boskovice, especially its last generation, which represent aside from Jan Sembera primarily his brother Albrecht Cernohorsky of Boskovice and Semera's friend and relative Jan of Boskovice and Trebova. The specific role in Jan Sembera's biography necessary plays the transfer of the legacy of the house of Boskovice to the Liechtenstein's family. This was accomplished through two marriages between Karl and Maxmilian of Liechtenstein and Sembera's daughters Anna Marie and Katerina. The importance of those alliances is reflected in the perspective of both financial as well as cultural capital inherited by the House of Liechtenstein and the way how did they use and treat it.

No. of bitstreams: 1 PRELIMINARES.pdf: 24591 bytes, checksum: b9b5fb200776da574fa28d6a5495fbb7 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2009-03-30 / This work discusses the role of the harpsichord in Brazilian contemporary music particularly in chamber music. After a brief contextualization of harpsichord in Brazilian chamber music, the work develops in five main parts, namely: part 1 a description of the harpsichord since its origins in the monochord of Pythagoras until the models constructed in present time; part 2 the harpsichord s mechanism is presented in such a way as to elucidate the instrument performance possibilities; part 3 an analysis of idiomatic aspects of the instrument and their influence in interpretative and compositional decisions; part 4 the available repertoire and the process used to organize it including Brazilian solo and chamber music for the instrument. The works are organized by composer, date and medium; part 5 - analytical comments of selected works to be presented in the masters recital. The comments combine Jan La Rue s view with the idiomatic aspects discussed in the part 3 of this paper. The commentaries consider both compositional and performance possibilities. Aspects analyzed include form, instrumentation, level of difficulty, dynamics indication, registration, metric, fingering, use of expanded technique, performance notes and ad-libitum passages (or random elements). As a conclusion, it was possible to organize several Brazilian works for harpsichord in various compositional styles / Este trabalho discute a presença do cravo na música contemporânea brasileira, com enfoque em música de câmera.

Stagnell, Alexander January 2009 (has links)
This essay examines narratives and argumentation in Jan Björklunds pluggskolan. Skeppsbyggaren : Ett miljöcertifierat gestaltningsförslag med hållbar stadsplanering i fokus / Skeppsbyggaren : An eco-certified design proposal focusing on sustainable urban planning

Lindeborg, Tomas, Kågström, Julia January 2012 (has links)
Förslaget uppnår betyget VERY GOOD vid vår certifiering med miljöcertifieringsverktyget BREEAM Communities. / Gävle is expected to increase its population with approximately 500 inhabitants per year in the foreseeable future, which should be reflected in the development of housing, work and services. The building plot Skeppsbyggaren, also known as Philipsontomten (the Philipson plot), dates back to an old industrial epoch and has since the mid-1990s, remained undeveloped. By approaching the water with an increasingly public business and residential district Skeppsbyggaren can lead to a densification and extension of the central parts of Gävle. The site could furthermore contribute to an already valuable cultural environment, which should be of interest for the inhabitants, the society and the owner CA Fastigheter. Our aim has been to design an eco-certified housing project proposal for Skeppsbyggaren, which contributes to a sustainable urban development and a positive exposure of Gävle. In recent years, the certification of building is something that gained ground, but during the development of entire neighborhoods is worthwhile consider sustainability issues at a larger scale, throughout the district. The problems associated with the property have been the adjacent industrial activity, the area’s strained traffic and that the nearby streets are perceived as unsafe and therefore unattractive to use. The high risk of contaminated land linked to past activities was also a central issue. We have developed a design proposal with a people-centered focus supported by Gehl’s and Jacob’s theories of planning a high functional neighborhood that attract human encounters, social activities and security. The area mainly consists of several connected buildings, which together create a noise-reducing barrier against the adjacent streets. This development is complemented by tower blocks and low buildings in the form of townhouses, located in the courtyard. Our aim regarding the positions of the buildings and its architectural designs has been to create a diverse and inviting neighborhood that expresses good architecture out of its own century. The final result includes an underground garage, selection of systems such as ventilation and heating, a local production of electricity and user-related suggestions for a smaller environmental impact such as carpools, urban gardening and individual metering of the consumption of electricity, and so on. Our proposal achieves the grade VERY GOOD in our certification using BREEAM Communities.

Soldal, Johannes January 2013 (has links)
A part of the Swedish TV-show Levande livet that aired between 1983 and 1984 was devoted to wine. This was the first time a wine tasting was being broadcasted in Sweden. Terms as ”sweaty horse” and ”moulded pile of leaves” – that the wine connoisseurs Carl Jan Granqvist and Knut-Christian Gröntoft used to describe the wines – became objects of both appreciation and ridicule. Their way of talking about wine reminds of Robert Parker’s wine language, which grew of importance from the 1970s and onwards.                       The purpose of this thesis is to try to write a history of taste. By researching how the TV-show was received by the daily press in Sweden, it is possible to come to terms with what kind of opinions and attitudes a wine tasting challanged. This thesis shows how the viewers, by tasting wine and trying to articulate their taste experiences in the language provided by Granqvist and Gröntoft, became members of a taste community. This taste community was not only being sustained by a shared language for taste experience, it also affected the viewers own taste of the wine.                       By doing this it is possible to describe in what way everyone was urged to practice their own taste and become a connoisseur.

The ascension of econometric methods and theis influence in the economy: the Keynes-Tinbergen debate and its effect in economics

The performativity argues that the line between theory and practice is thinner than it is thought, i. e., that in certain circumstances, the economic theory do not only describe the world, but it can influence it, it can make the agents change their behavior to conform to its predictions. For this, using the Keynes-Tinbergen debate as a background, we sought for evidence that showed the performative effects of the adoption of econometric methods onto the canon of the economic theory, once that studies showed performative effects with models used in the financial market. We conclude that, by the evaluation of the debate, its conclusion made possible emerge an econometric theory that, consequentially, could have performative effects in the economy.

Nacismus versus okultismus v protektorátu Čechy a Morava: Osudy Jiřího Arvéda Smíchovského a Jana Kefera / Nazism versus occultism in the Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia: Lives of Jiří Arvéd Smíchovský and Jan Kefer

Bernardová, Kristýna January 2018 (has links)
This master thesis entitled Nazism versus Occultism in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia: The Fate of Jiří Arvéd Smíchovský and Jan Kefer, deals primarily with the life of two Czech hermeticians, Jan Kefer and Jiří Arvéd Smíchovský, on the background of their relation to occultism and Nazism. In addition to describe the lives of both persons, with a closer focus on their fates during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the master thesis also brings a chapter on the almost unknown Nazi action against the secret sciences and occultists which took place in the territory of the Protectorate in 1941. At the beginning of the text, reader gets familiarized with some basic concepts from occult science and the relationship between Nazism and occultism in general. Then follows the aforementioned chapter on the occultists' persecution in the protectorate. The main pillars of the thesis are the biographies of J. A. Smíchovský and J. Kefer which focus more closely on the Protectorate period. In my thesis I work with many sources, especially from historical sources stored in state and private archives or interviews with a witness. The chapter on the methodology of work deals with the used information sources. The contribution of this diploma thesis is collecting a number of sources to the fate of both...

Zámek a kostel sv. Jana Nepomuckého ve Vyklanticích za Harrachů / The Mannor House and the S. John of Nepomuk Church in Vyklantice in the Age of Harrach

NEVAŘILOVÁ, Zuzana January 2018 (has links)
My thesis deals with the buildings of the castle and the church of Saint John of Nepomuk in Vyklantice which was built between 1722 and 1729 by Jan Jáchym Harrach. Firstly, the work presents the history of the Vyklantice manor and the history of both buildings. Description of the present state of the castle and the church is confronted with photographs from the 1970s. Finally, the work focuses on the genealogy of the Harrachs family and other estates owned by Jan Jáchym and his brother Ferdinand Markvart Harrach. The core of the thesis is in the following chapters which deal with a question of authorship of the Vyklantice constructions. The first criticism has been made on actual addition of researchers who attribute these objects to K. I. Dientzenhofer or J. B. Santini-Aichl and J. L. von Hildebrandt. The survey shows that the buildings in Vyklantice are probably the work of a local builder, as objects do not show the quality of the artistic creation of the architects mentioned above.
