La pratique de la "prière sur le prophète" en Islam : Analyse philologique et implications doctrinales

Cette recherche se propose de suivre le développement en islam de la piété centrée sur la figure du Prophète, à travers la pratique de la « prière sur le Prophète ». Elle part de la place de cette prière dans les textes fondateurs et dans la tradition juridico-théologique. Elle se livre ensuite à l'analyse philologique d'un choix significatif de formules de « prière sur le Prophète » (taṣliya, pl. taṣliyāt ) depuis le début de l'islam jusqu'au XIXème siècle, en mettant l'accent sur la tradition maghrébine, marocaine plus précisément. Il s'agit non seulement de recenser ce que disent ces formules sur Muhammad, son caractère, ses vertus, sa fonction prophétique, son rôle spirituel, mais encore de relever les implications doctrinales de ces textes. Ce travail d'analyse aboutit à une synthèse thématique montrant le développement progressif, surtout à partir du XIIème siècle, de formules de prière qui mettent en valeur la dimension métaphysique et cosmique du Prophète plus précisément de la « Lumière » ou de la « Réalité muhammadienne ». Les maîtres soufis qui composent ces taṣliyāt mettent ainsi le Prophète au coeur de la doctrine et de la pratique spirituelles. / This research project aims to chart the development of Islamic piety centered on the figure of the Prophet, through the practice of the « prayer on the Prophet ». It begins with the prayer itself which is present in the founding documents of the legal-theological tradition. It continues with a philological analysis of a significant selection of prayer formulas (taṣliya, pl.taṣliyāt ) spanning the beginning of Islam through to the 19th century, with a special emphasis on the traditions of the Maghreb, specifically Morocco. The purpose of such an overview is to identify what these formulas reveal about Muhammad, his character, his virtues, his prophetic office and spiritual role, as well as uncover the doctrinal implications of these texts. This analysis leads to a thematic synthesis showing the progressive development, particularly from the 12th century on, of prayer formulas that put emphasis on the metaphysical and cosmic dimensions of the Prophet, more precisely of the « Light » or « Muhammadan reality ». The Sufi masters who composed these texts thus put the Prophet at the heart of both doctrine and spiritual practice.

Beyond Filial Piety: Intergenerational Relations and Old Age Security in Contemporary China

Die vorliegende Dissertation untersucht, wie die intergenerationellen Beziehungen im heutigen China ausgestaltet sind und diskutiert ihre Auswirkungen auf die Altersvorsorge. Historisch gesehen war die Rolle des chinesischen Staates bei der Bereitstellung von Altersvorsorge sehr gering, und die Betreuung älterer Menschen wird immer noch hauptsächlich als Familienaufgabe angesehen. Die konfuzianische Norm der filial piety verpflichtet die Kinder im Erwachsenenalter, ihre Eltern finanziell und materiell zu unterstützen sowie sich um die Betreuung zu kümmern und entsprechend Hilfe zu leisten. In den letzten Jahrzehnten wurden jedoch traditionelle chinesische Familiennormen und – bräuche durch den sozioökonomischen, demographischen und kulturellen Wandel infragegestellt. Infolgedessen wird weitgehend ‒sowohl in der wissenschaftlichen Literatur als auch im öffentlichen Diskurs‒ angenommen, dass filial piety und die damit zusammenhängenden Formen der intergenerationellen Familienunterstützung zunehmend an Wert verlieren, was die Frage nach dem Wohlergehen älterer Generationen aufwirft. Im Folgenden betrachte ich drei Hauptaspekte der intergenerationelle Solidarität: strukturelle Solidarität (geografische Nähe), funktionale Solidarität (Pflege und finanzielle Unterstützung) und assoziative Solidarität (sozialer Kontakt) sowie deren Zusammenhänge. Ich argumentiere, dass die beobachteten Muster weder den traditionellen Anforderungen der filial piety entsprechen, noch auf eine Krise der intergenerationellen Familiensolidarität hinweisen. Stattdessen reflektieren sie die pragmatischen Bemühungen der Familien, ihre Beziehungen im Hinblick auf einen raschen Strukturwandel neu zu verhandeln und anzupassen. Allerdings ist die Anpassungsfähigkeit in der chinesischen Gesellschaft nicht gleich verteilt, besonders schwer ist es für sozialschwache Familien, die vergleichsweise schwächere Bindungen zu ihren erwachsenen Kindern haben. / This dissertation assesses the state of intergenerational relations in contemporary China, and discusses its implications for old age security. Historically, the role of the Chinese state in the provision of old age security has been minimal, and caring for older people is primarily seen as a family responsibility. The Confucian norm of filial piety obliges adult children to provide their parents with financial and material support as well physical care and assistance. In recent decades, however, traditional Chinese family norms and customs have been challenged by a number of socio-economic, demographic and cultural changes. As a result there is a widespread belief ‒both in academic literature and in the public discourse‒ that filial piety and related forms of intergenerational family support are on the decline, raising concerns about the well-being of older generations. In this study, I look at three main aspects of intergenerational relations or family solidarity: structural solidarity (proximity), functional solidarity (the provision of care and financial support) and associational solidarity (social contact), as well as their interrelations. Using a nationally representative dataset of Chinese families, I argue that the observed patterns neither correspond to the traditional demands of filial piety, nor indicate a crisis of intergenerational family solidarity. Instead, they reflect families' pragmatic efforts to renegotiate and adapt their relationships in the face of a rapid structural change. The capability to adapt is not equally distributed, however, and it is often the more vulnerable groups that have comparatively weaker ties to adult children.

This party, which permeated the whole local society and was celebrated from the first half nineteenth century, is considered the largest religious celebration in the region. We work with the period appointed as Romanized, between 1930-1965. This period was marked by some changes in forms of so-called traditional Catholicism of Portuguese heritage, which has gradually been replaced by Roman Catholicism. From this agreement, we outlined the object of this research, which is linked to the relations between Church and society. We questioned about the scenario that the party led by means of power struggles in the management of the bishop, whose goal was to control, dominate and stop the profane practices and instill a Roman Catholicism in the city, since it was a national project. We established a significant importance of the Feast of Sant’Ana to the city of Ponta Grossa. We sought to reconstruct the memory of the community in regard to religion, sociability and fun. We understood that the party was a provileged space / time for the population religiosity, sociability and fun. We identified the continuities and the changes occurring between devotion and fun, due to romanization, ie to the changes. We investigated what were the main causes that led the general decline of the party. As a result of research we realized that, before any of them to leave the religious sphere consecrated by Roman Catholicism, the Church would claim the competence to accept them, tolerate them or abolish them. And through the sources analyzed, pastoral letters, newspapers, pamphlets, Book Tombo, and eleven interviewees, we understand that this process is mobile and the paths intersect at almost every moment of this manifestation of popular Ponta Grossa, the Feast of Sant 'Anna, patron saint. For a better understanding of the directions proposed, the research was oriented particularly by the studies of Bourdieu, Elias, Chartier, Certeau, among others. It also had, methodologically, as a system of work, the work of Content Analysis of Laurence Bardin. / A pesquisa leva em consideração a importância da festa religiosa mais popular na cidade de Ponta Grossa – PR, a Festa de Sant‘Ana. Essa festa, que permeava toda a sociedade local e era comemorada desde a primeira metade do século XIX, é considerada a maior celebração religiosa da região. Trabalhamos com o período apontado romanizador, entre 1930-1965. Esse período foi marcado por algumas formas de mudanças no chamado catolicismo tradicional, de herança portuguesa, que aos poucos foi substituído pelo catolicismo romanizado. Desse entendimento, delineamos o objeto de estudo desta pesquisa, que se vincula às relações estabelecidas entre Igreja e sociedade. Questionamos sobre o cenário que a festa provocou, por meio de disputas de poder na gestão do bispo, cuja meta era controlar, dominar e deter as práticas profanas e incutir na cidade um catolicismo romanizado, visto que era um projeto nacional. Estabelecemos a significativa importância da Festa de Sant’Ana, para a cidade de Ponta Grossa. Buscamos reconstruir a memória da comunidade no que se refere à religiosidade, sociabilidade e diversão. Compreendemos se a festa foi um espaço/tempo privilegiado para a população ponta-grossense realizar a religiosidade, a sociabilidade e a diversão. Identificamos as permanências e as transformações ocorridas entre a devoção e diversão, devido à romanização, ou seja, às mudanças. Investigamos quais foram às principais causas, que levaram ao grande declínio da festa. Como resultado de pesquisa, percebemos que, diante de quaisquer manifestações religiosas que saíssem da esfera consagrada pelo catolicismo romanizado, a Igreja reivindicaria a competência de aceitá-las, tolerá-las ou aboli-las. E, através das fontes analisadas, cartas pastorais, jornais, panfletos, Livro Tombo, e onze entrevistados, compreendemos que, este processo, é móvel e os caminhos se cruzam em quase todos os momentos dessa manifestação popular de Ponta Grossa, a Festa de Sant’Ana, padroeira da cidade. Para melhor compreensão dos direcionamentos propostos, a pesquisa foi orientada principalmente pelos estudos de Bourdieu, Elias, Chartier, Certeau, entre outros. Metodologicamente teve como sistemática de trabalho a obra Análise de Conteúdo de Laurence Bardin.

However, this mythologized saint has something of specific: he was constructed by popular religiousness and yet today belongs to that. After all, the Juazeiro do Norte's patriarch affectionately called meu padim , is a saint that lives at sun by the fact that he was removed from the priestly orders. Eclesial decision that remains until nowadays. Padre Cicero hasn't yet rehabilitated by the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. In spite of he is proclaimed saint by his pilgrims , however, but he can't g in the Catholic Church and occupy a place beside the other saints - Europeans in its majority. This comes from a colonialist ideology that, by means of the control of sacred establish a balance of power characterized as clerical, centralizing and hierarchical. A historic reality that just can be realized through a broader scenario, where were inserted persons like Padre Ibiapina, Conselheiro and Zé Lourenço. In this scenario we can observe big and outstanding conflicts between the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, the popular religiosity and the Brazilian State. It is inside this contexto that we look for to realize the structure of the myth around the figure of Padre Cicero. An enigmatic and contradictory person. However, from the point of view of the popular religiosity he is inserted inside a coherent and full of meaning universe, in the fight of survival, open loopholes in the constructed power structures. It is in this perspective that can realize the mythicizing process involving the person of Pe. Cicero, with direct impacts on the political, social and economic reality of Juazeiro do Norte, in the region of Cariri, in Ceará state, with immediate reflexes in fight scenarios by the power in a national level. At last, from Pe. Cicero and Juazeiro do Norte we can realize that the myth posseses a closed link nfluencing directly the social relations / Tomando a figura de Padre Cícero como referência é possível perceber um processo de santificação que coincide com a construção de um mito. Porém, este santo mitificado tem algo de específico: ele foi construído pela religiosidade popular e ainda hoje pertence a ela. Afinal, o patriarca do Juazeiro do Norte, carinhosamente chamado como meu padim é um santo que vive no sol pelo fato de ter morrido afastado das Ordens Sacerdotais. Decisão eclesial que permanece até os dias de hoje. Padre Cícero ainda não foi reabilitado pela hierarquia da Igreja Católica. Portanto, é proclamado santo pelos seus romeiros e romeiras, mas ainda não pode entrar na Igreja e ocupar um espaço ao lado de outros santos em sua grande maioria, europeus. Reflexo de uma ideologia colonialista que, por meio do controle do sagrado estabelece uma relação de poder caracterizado como clerical, centralizador e hierárquico. Uma realidade histórica que só pode ser compreendida a partir de um cenário mais amplo, onde também estão inseridos Padre Ibiapina, Conselheiro e Zé Lourenço. Cenário de grandes e marcantes conflitos entre a hierarquia da Igreja católica, a religiosidade popular e o Estado brasileiro. É dentro deste contexto que procuramos compreender a estrutura do mito em torno da figura de Padre Cícero. Uma figura aparentemente enigmática e contraditória. Porém, do ponto de vista da religiosidade popular ele estará inserido num universo coerente e pleno de sentido, na luta pela sobrevivência, abrindo brechas nas estruturas de poder constituídas. É nesta perspectiva que podemos compreender um processo de mitificação envolvendo a figura de Padre Cícero, com impactos direto na realidade política, social e econômica que envolve Juazeiro do Norte, a Região do Cariri, o Estado do Ceará, com reflexos imediatos no cenário das disputas pelo poder a nível nacional. Enfim, a partir de Padre Cícero e Juazeiro do Norte podemos perceber que o mito possui uma íntima relação com a religião, influenciando diretamente as relações sociais

Reformation London and the Adaptation of Observed Piety

In reformation London, the shift of the governed religion enabled laymen to recognize individuality in their faith, to read scripture in the vernacular, and to exercise their faith outside of mass. Therefore, the overall perception of personal piety took a turn from being exercised communally to becoming something reflective of the individual. Analyzing gender dynamics, language, religious orders, and theology reveal this transition and help gain a holistic understanding of transitioning perceptions of piety. This thesis contributes to the rich historiographical conversation in understanding Reformation studies. By adopting elements from top-down and bottom-up approaches, this thesis further develops on the understanding of perceptions of religious piety in reformation London.

Recently foreign and Lithuanian scientists have increased consideration on issues of religion and religiosity. It is admitted the importance to take care of the fact that society under influence of globalization would not lose elements of national and traditional culture and religion would remain significant in public life, especially of young people, and would be influent in social, political and cultural spheres of both traditional and modern society (Ratzinger, Balthasar, Rahner, 2008; Libiszowska-Žoltkowska, 2007; Kreeft, 2011; Ricouer, 2001; Girnius, 2011; Kuzmickas, 2003; Jovaiša, 2009; Aramavičiūtė, 1998; Tijūnėlienė, 2000; etc.). / Žmonijos kultūros istorija yra sukaupusi gana daug empirinių ir teorinių šaltinių, liudijančių, kad religija yra reiškinys, neatskiriamas nuo žmogaus egzistencijos prasmės, jo gyvenimo perspektyvos.
