Exploring the effect of mobile apps on purchase intention of smart phone by network externalities

Unknown Date (has links)

Ubiquitous mobile collaborative digital narrative platform with location information

Lin, Si Cai Unknown Date (has links)
Technologies could change users’ behaviors. As the recent growth of mobile smartphones, digital narrative would have a new way to create mobile content. Through interactive design components and features of “mobile narrative”, we design a "Mobile Collaboration Digital Narrative Platform" to facilitate this change. A user can retrieve nearby mobile content, and also have the ability to add, edit or record what is happening at his/her present location. By adding the feature of “collaborative content creation” to the platform, the content can be made more diverse and rich and the reader can better immerse him or herself in it. Moreover, by the enhanced network technology, the platform can also work in offline mode to make it function ubiquitously. In order to study the new type of mobile collaborative narration, we develop the system (an Android App) and do field trial. We evaluate and analyze the system for two parts: one for the assessment of the user interface, and the other for system usage evaluation. We use the think aloud method for the former to amend interface design. For the latter, we interview with users, which are also compared with the system log for justification. The design components and the results for usage behaviors that we found from the new platform will provide a good recommendation for future further study in the field.

Inomhuspositioneringssystem : Personlig navigation inomhus via mobiltelefon / Indoor Positioning System : Personal indoor navigation via mobile phone

Johansson, Charlie, Frid, Martin January 2015 (has links)
The GPS is used today for personal navigation, however GPS performs less well in an in-door environment due to the dependency of line of sight. The IPS, Indoor Positioning Sys-tem, will complement the function of the GPS and open doors for new applications. In this thesis studies of methods and techniques are made to enable IPS for a portable device. These techniques and methods are verified that they could be implemented in a smartphone.A prototype was designed to examine the possibility to navigate in an indoor environment. The prototype was built on a RSSI-based radio fingerprinting method over Bluetooth. This method was integrated with a dead reckoning system using an IMU to follow the motions of the user. Tests and simulations are performed along with the results presented in tables and figures. The result shows that it is possible to navigate using the prototype with a mean error of 0.26m. Results are also showing that two methods are to prefer, as they will com-plement each other’s weaknesses.

日常生活的科技社交角色—— 以Facebook打卡為核心的媒體實踐為例 / Technologies’ Social Roles in Everyday Life: A Case Study on Media Practice through Facebook’s Check-ins

Shih, Wan Ting Unknown Date (has links)
The aim of the research investigates Facebook’s check-ins as a media practice that plays a crucial social role in everyday life. While walking in the city nowadays, a practitioner can convey his/her feelings, uploading stories and photos to social network websites through mobile technologies. A practitioner’s gaze upon spectacle of the city brings him/her complicated media experience in the media-drenched world, which turns a practitioner into a tourist and a flâneur. The study explores practitioners’ media consumption in everyday life. My empirical study focuses on three cases, who are heavy users of smart phones and in favor of check-ins on Facebook. The three cases situate in different social status and develope different social relationships through Facebook. By choosing ethnography as my method, I am a participant-as-observer who immerse in on-line and off-line field work. My findings indicate that smart phones and check-ins on Facebook provide opportunities and resources for practitioners. A keen adopter of technologies becomes an opinion leader, and her practice of check-ins brings her a fashionable image. The person who owns ordinary fellowship becomes an opinion leader in his peer group by acquiring technology skills. The practitioners use tagging and adjust the timing of check-ins to create social connection with friends. A practitioner, who is also a tourist and a flâneur, finds new feelings through mobile technologies when walking in the city. (1) The boundary between everyday life and tourism is not fixed, but weaves in a flow instead. (2) Geo-tagging symbolizes a hybrid space, in which contains virtual and physical information. (3) The practices of check-ins embody the tourist gaze. The sense of place is a flow, and practitioners may find warm or chill places through different media practices. However, the tension of interaction between people and technologies brings several unexpected troubles. The practitioner combats these problems by using tactics with agency, while he/she faces the power of structure which limits agency at the same time.

Mobile Reisebegleitung mit NFC-Unterstützung

Pfanstiel, Jörn, Keller, Christine, Funke, Alexandra, Heinig, Tristan, Schlegel, Thomas 14 December 2012 (has links) (PDF)

Lagacé, François K. 06 1900 (has links)
This research-creation project aims to understand the specific relationship of an artist wanting to work on sound composition, digital lutherie and cultural mediation in a unique creative process dedicated to the creation of didactic art projects for non-initiated publics : "La couleur du son" and "Art martial sonore". To do so, this master's thesis first presents a study for each of the field, one at a time, before presenting a reflexion on how they can coexist. Are then studied different original art projects containing each of the three field of works, created specifically for this research-creation. Each of those creations concentrates mainly on one of the three fields of work and connect the other two to it in a way that seeks to be as uniform as possible.

The mobile phone as an extention of the self : a study among adolescents in a secondary school

Davel, Coriena 02 1900 (has links)
The mobile phone forms part of a teenager’s life world and reality today and can be regarded as a tool with which they not only communicate, but also use them to gain access to the Internet, social media and social networking sites. The primary aim of this study was to determine if the mobile phone, with all its functionalities, has an impact on the development of the adolescent’s identity formation, social development and communication skills as well as the sense of the self. Another objective of this study was to determine what the opinions and perceptions are of older generations with regard to mobile practices of the youth. A concurrent triangulation mixed method design was utilised for the purpose of the study. The quantitative and qualitative studies were conducted simultaneously and the data and results from each method were integrated and interpreted as a whole. The quantitative data gathering method was short self-structured questionnaires that were completed by learners (190), teachers (35) and parents (21) to provide a general overview of mobile usage among adolescents. A single-group pre-test post-test experimental design and individual interviews were conducted with eight volunteers. Lastly, 12 learners took part in a focus group interview as a confirmation technique for all the information that was gathered. The findings of the empirical investigation revealed that the mobile phone is used nowadays as a social tool, a planning tool and a convenience tool. The constant connectedness the mobile phone provides, strengthens the adolescents’ self-esteem and self-confidence and contributes strongly to their self-worth. The mobile phone is used as a self-expressive personalised tool and forms part of the sense of the adolescent self. It was also found that adolescents build their relationships with others on a two-dimensional platform that involves online and offline communication and activities. A definite gap exists between older generations’ perceptions and adolescents in connection with the ways that adolescents use their mobile phones nowadays. Parents and teachers have to accept the fact that technology forms part of today’s youth and they should change their mind-sets with regard to this complicated and complex phenomenon. / Psychology of Education / D.
