Müller, Alessandra Bombarda January 2008 (has links)
Os instrumentos utilizados neste estudo foram a escala comportamental das Bayley Scales of Infant Development II (BSID-II), a Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS) e o questionário Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development Self-Report (AHEMD-SR). / The purpose of the present study, of quasi-experimental design, was to verify the effects of a motor intervention in three different contexts - individual at home (ID), individual at the daycare (IC) and in groups at the daycare (GC) - on motor and social development of children with motor delays, between 06 and 18 month-old, living in the suburbs of the city of Porto Alegre/RS, who were assisted by basic units of health affiliated to Moinhos de Vento Hospital and supported by communitarian daycare centers linked to the City Hall. Descriptions of the behavior of each child before and after the interventive period and characteristics of their home environment were associated to their motor performance. The sample for this research was voluntary, selected in a non probabilistic and intentional form. From a total of 96 assessed children, 40 presented percentile ranking below 25%, and, of those, 32 finished the 24 sessions of motor intervention, in a period of 12 weeks. Each interventive group was thus distributed: ID n=12, IC n=7 and GC n=13. The instruments used in this study were the behavior rating scale of Bayley Scales of Infant Development II (BSID-II), the Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS) and the inventory Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development Self-Report (AHEMD-SR). The intervention program, carried out between May and November of 2007, was composed by playful activities which were planned to stretch and adjust the muscular tonus, to stimulate visual and auditory accompaniment, to control postures in different circumstances, to manipulate objects and to move around, in order to allow the children to experiment with new movement conditions and the overcoming of challenges. All the collected data were analyzed through the SPSS statistical program for Windows, version 13.0. In all the analyses, it was considered a significance level of p≤0,05. The result of the Shapiro-Wilk Normality Test, applied in the scores of motor performance in the first evaluation, suggested that the data was a non-normal distribution (p=0,04). Thus, non-parametric tests were used. In the comparison of the variables in the two evaluative periods (pre and post intervention), the Kruskal-Wallis’ Test was used and, when this test demonstrated significant differences between groups, the Mann-Whitney’s U Test was used. In the comparison of the percentile of motor performance of each group throughout time (before and after the interventive period), intending to verify the effect of the motor intervention program, the Wilcoxon Test was applied. In the description of the results, the median and the interquartilic range were used (P25-P75). The results showed significant improvement in the motor performance in the three different groups (ID p=0,014, IC p=0,028 and GC p=0,005), supporting the conviction that children with motor delays taking part in the intervention program would present increase in their motor performance when compared to the initial evaluation. The observations of children’s behavior from this sample corroborate with the conviction that they would show, after the intervention, increase in their social performance. The analysis of the variation of the total scores for opportunities of home stimulation, using McNemar Test, did not show evidence of significant statistical changes in the different study groups (p=1,000), rejecting the conviction that the intervention program would have a positive impact in the home environment, favoring significant changes of engagement in different infant routine activities, as well as in a shift in family attitude towards these children’s restrictions. Interventive strategies tied to the context of development of children with motor delays promote increase in their motor and social performance, and the identification of a risk child allows early accompaniment and the understanding of their necessities. These findings suggest the need of programs of intervention for low income families who also optimize the chances of stimulation in the home environment.

Prosociální rysy u pracovníků pomáhajících profesí / The Pro-social Traits of Workers in Helping Professions

FENDRICHOVÁ, Bohdana January 2009 (has links)
In the thesis on the pro-social traits of workers in helping (assistance-providing) professions I dedicate myself to pro-social behavior, empathy and the basic characteristics of personality issuing from the five-factor personality model {--} The Big Five. Most professionals agree that pro-social behavior and empathy belong among the basic characteristics that assistance-providing professionals should have. An important role is also the personality of the care provider. The listed constructs and connections among them however remain the home environment of empirical research and thereby represent the phenomena regarding which there exist few verified findings. The goal of the paper rests in fining the level of empathy and personal dispositions in accordance with the Big Five model that could influence pro-social behavior in selected groups of assistance-giving professionals. The factors in question are neuroticism, extroversion, and openness to experience, graciousness and conscientiousness. Data collection took place with the help of two psychodiagnostic questionnaires. The IRI questionnaire measures level of empathy and the NEO-FFI questionnaire was used for diagnosing the five personality dimensions. The study was quantitative. The monitored set included respondents from three assistance-giving professions {--} nurses, members of the Czech Republic Fire Rescue Corps, and elementary-school teachers. The results confirmed the hypothesis that care providing workers show higher levels of empathy in comparison to the population average, and the hypothesis that these professionals show a higher level of personality traits that, in an interpersonal context, display positive orientation towards others, that is that they are more extroverted and gracious in comparison with the population average, was refuted. These results make it possible to consider that the relationship between the basic personality dimensions and pro-social tendencies may be mediated by the level of empathy with regard to other psychological constructs and the results of social learning. Conclusions cannot be generalized, due to a relatively small sample group. For this purpose it would be interesting to carry out a professional study, which would exceed, in its scope and possibilities, the usual requirements of a thesis paper.

Doadores de granulócitos, plaquetas e sangue total. O real perfil altruístico e seu capital social / Granulocyte donors, platelets and whole blood donors: the real altruistic profile and their social capital

Pedro Capuani Rocha 29 May 2013 (has links)
The concentrate of granulocytes is an important component for oncologic patient\'s treatment. Donation of this component is more complex than other blood components donations, because it claims more efforts and risks assumptions by the donor, and also the use of automated apheresis equipment. The present study is aimed to increase knowledge about the granulocyte donors´ population and evaluate differences among their motivations to accomplish donations and their general social capital, comparing with platelets apheresis donors and altruistic whole blood donors. These results may help blood centers, which carry granulocyte collection, not just to achieve much more objective information about these donors, but also to identify similar granulocyte donors´ profile within the general population. Blood banks may be able to achieve fidelity among these individuals and to promote safer blood donations. Granulocyte donors´ profile was evaluated in a case-control study. Cases were formed by granulocytes donors (n=64) and controls by platelet apheresis donors (n-64) and first time whole blood donors (n=68), in a ratio of one case per two controls. Granulocyte donors are mainly male and older than controls. Regarding the motivation to donate, granulocyte donors are not essentially different from platelets donors, but regarding first time whole blood donors, there are considerable differences, especially in respect to test seeking. Moreover, whole blood donors are almost twice more motivated to donate to take a day off at work, which shows a minor altruistic gesture. The determinant social profile among donors´ groups is also different. Granulocyte donors are effectively more social engaged people when compared to controls, and have a much more coherent and trustful community net, assenting about twice more than platelets donors, which have acquainted neighbors that would be ever ready to help other neighbors (OR=4.02). In conclusion, these findings indicate that is necessary to blood centers to use new recruitment strategies to increase donor´s retention. More effective communications procedures, besides internal recruitment, that achieves the target with more efficiency in locals where the probability to find donors more social engaged is increased, as clubs, community centers or associations must be warranted

Comportamento social e volume de substância branca cerebral em adolescentes vítimas de maus tratos / Social behavior and cerebral white matter volume in maltreated adolescents

Mariella Ometto Scarparo 02 May 2016 (has links)
Studies suggest that specific white matter tracts may be vulnerable to child maltreatment and their alterations can be associated with psychiatric symptoms and cognitive deficits. Aim: Compare social skills and psychopathic traits between maltreated adolescents (MTA) and a control group, as well as their possible correlations with different types of maltreatment and white matter volumes.. Method: The sample was composed by 67 MTA and 41 youths from the CG. Brain images were acquired by magnetic resonance imaging equipment (1,5T Siemens Sonata) for voxel-based morphometry analyses. The clinical evaluation was carried out using Childhood Trauma Inventory (CTQ), Social Skills Inventory for Adolescents (SSIA) and The Hare Psychopathy Checklist: Youth Version (PCL:YV). Results: MTA presented more psychopathic traits and social skills deficits than the CG. Emotional neglect was the only maltreatment subtype with significant effect on psychopathic traits, and it was correlated with specific social skills deficits. The white matter volumes of left hemisphere regions (angular gyrus, precuneus and inferior parietal lobe) were negatively correlated with PCL:YV affective factor scores. Moreover, positive correlations between white matter volume of right hemisphere areas (superior parietal lobe and precentral gyrus) and specific psychopathic traits (antisocial and interpersonal) were found. Conclusion: MTA presented social deficits when compared to CG. The white matter volume of brain areas associated with social information processing and emotion recognition was correlated with specific psychopathic traits. Child maltreatment may contribute to social cognition deficits and predispose this vulnerable population to psychopathic traits

Attitudes, valeurs et pratiques autour du tri sélectif et de la gestion des déchets à Marseille et ses environs : les politiques environnementales à l’épreuve des comportements des usagers / Attitudes, values and practices around the sorting and waste management in Marseille and the surrounding areas : environmental policy tested by the user behavior

Dupeuble, Sandrine 26 November 2013 (has links)
This thesis Anthropology aims to explore a little-studied subject matter in this field. It takes a critical look at the recyclable waste in a specific context: the sorting device system in Marseille, France. Less studied than other waste categories like organic waste, industrial or energy ... this thesis will focus on the social and cultural dimensions of recyclable waste by connecting and comparing it with all other domestic waste (organic waste, toxic, cumbersome ...). The aim is to reveal the representations and practices associated with these different types of waste; the games and actors’ logic facing the collection device in place; the paths and spatiotemporal storing areas followed by the waste according to their category.

Diez, Lise 04 December 2012 (has links)

The Role of Neurexins in Serotonin Signaling and Complex Behaviors

Extensive serotonin (5-HT) fiber innervation throughout the brain corroborates 5-HT’s modulatory role in numerous behaviors including social behavior, emotion regulation, and learning and memory. Abnormal brain 5-HT levels and function are implicated in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) which often co-occurs with other neuropsychiatric conditions. While 5-HT therapeutics are used to treat ASD, variable improvements in symptomatology require further investigation of 5-HT-mediated pathology. Neurexins (Nrxns) are presynaptic cell adhesion molecules that maintain synapse function for proper neural circuit assembly. Given that aberrant Nrxn and 5-HT function independently contribute to signaling pathology and behavioral impairments, it is critical to understand how Nrxn-mediated 5-HT neurotransmission participates in pathological mechanisms underlying ASD. Using fluorescence in situ hybridization, I found that the three Nrxn genes (Nrxn1, Nrxn2, and Nrxn3) are differentially expressed in 5-HT neurons in the dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN) and median raphe nucleus which contain the primary source of 5-HT neurons in the brain. Our lab generated a mouse model with selective deletion of Nrxns in 5-HT neurons to investigate the function of Nrxns in 5-HT signaling. The loss of Nrxns at 5-HT release sites reduced 5-HT release in the DRN and hippocampus and altered 5-HT innervation in specific brain regions. The lack of 5-HTergic Nrxns also reduced sociability and increased depressive-like behavior in males. This mouse model provides mechanisms to shed new light on 5-HT neurotransmission in the generation of complex behaviors.

Soziale Mechanismen in einer Meute Englischer Foxhounds

Dopfer, Melanie 30 August 2016 (has links)

Efficacy of musical interventions on social, maladaptive and language outcomes in children with autism spectrum disorder, a systematic review and meta-analysis

Roth, Nathalie 07 1900 (has links)
There is considerable interest in using music interventions (MIs) to address core impairments present in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). An increasing number of studies suggest that MIs have positive outcomes in this population, but no systematic review employing meta-analysis to date has investigated the efficacy of MIs across three of the predominant symptoms in ASD, specifically social functioning, maladaptive behaviors and language impairments. In this thesis, all available peer-reviewed studies (n = 17) comparing active MIs to non-music interventions (NMIs) were systematically summarized and evaluated using quality assessment based on the CONSORT statement. Eleven studies fulfilled inclusion criteria for meta-analysis, which differentiated between within-session and longitudinal outcomes. The quantitative analyses results supported the effectiveness of MI in ASD, and particularly for measures sensitive to social maladaptive behaviors. Comparing between MI and NMI, the results were generally suggestive of benefits of MI over NMI for social outcomes, but did not find benefits for non-social maladaptive behaviors or language outcomes. The systematic review revealed important methodological issues present in these studies, such as small sample sizes, restricted durations and intensities of interventions, missing sample information and matching criteria, and attrition bias. Together, the combined systematic review and meta-analyses provided an up-to-date evaluation of the evidence for MI’s benefits in ASD children and provide key recommendations for future clinical interventions and research about best practice in the domain.
