The purpose of this study is to examine the context in which the swedish Social Democratshave used the concept of solidarity and the inclusion of the concept. The method used is asmaller model of conceptual historical method and the material is the party programs from1960, 1990, 2001 and 2013. First through a synchronous analysis to distinguish the contextand then through a diachronic analysis to compare contexts in each party program with eachother. The results of the survey show that the concept of solidarity is used more frequentlyand in more contexts than was the case during the 1960s program. Even those who are to beincluded in solidarity increase from a class focus to a focus on the outside world. Furthermorethe theories of Durkheim, Liedman and Stjernø are used to explain why these contexts andinclusions have expanded.

Sammanfattning: Under de senaste decennierna har socialdemokratiska partier runt om i europa ställts inför en tillbakagång i antalet erhållna röster. För Sveriges socialdemokratiska parti; Socialdemokraterna skiljer sig inte detta mönster och partiet har tappat nästan en tredjedel av sitt väljarstöd under de senaste fyrtio åren. Tidigare forskning om ämnet är splittrad i frågor om vad som orsakat denna nedgång och varför socialdemokratiska partier drabbats. Denna studie kommer att belysa postmaterialistiska värderingars inverkan med syfte är att undersöka om det finns ett negativt samband mellan postmaterialistiska värderingar och medborgarnas benägenhet att rösta på Socialdemokraterna. För att genomföra studien används Ingleharts postmaterialism som teoretiskt ramverk där områdena egalitarism och miljö valts ut utifrån dess höga relevans för Sverige. Ingleharts teori görs mätbar i ett index bestående av olika påståenden där deltagande tar ställning mellan frihet och säkerhet. Vidare har fyra frågor från european social survey (2016) tolkats, motiverats och parats ihop med fyra påståenden från Ingleharts index för att få svar på hur den svenska befolkningen tar ställning till Ingleharts index. Hypotesen prövas genom en logistisk regression i statistikprogrammet SPSS. Vald metod möjliggör att vi kan studera valda postmaterialistiska värderingars enskilda påverkan på individers benägenhet att rösta på Socialdemokraterna. Resultatet av studien visade att hypotesen kan förkastas då ingen av studiens valda variabler var signifikanta och därav inte hade någon inverkan på röstarnas beteende. Ämnet är relevant att studera eftersom litteraturen lämnat en kunskapslucka om postmaterialistiska värderingars enskilda inverkan på Socialdemokraternas tappade röstetal. Något som är högst aktuellt eftersom Sverige är i framkanten som ett av världens mest postmaterialistiska länder och främst i världen inom valda områden; jämställdhet och miljö. Rapportens relevans kan även motiveras utifrån att den oavsett resultat berikar kommande forskning då resultat både är intressant om dessa värderingar har eller saknar inflytande på röstarnas beteende.  Nyckelord: Postmaterialism, Inglehart, Socialdemokraterna

Givet partiets hegemoniska ställning inom svensk politik är även syftet att undersöka om partiets eventuella idéskifte lett till att idén om det fria skolvalet blivit hegemonisk. Undersökningen söker svar på frågorna om det går att urskilja ett idéskifte från en klassisk socialdemokratisk till en nyliberal syn på det fria skolvalet och dels om idén om fritt skolval blivit hegemonisk. Detta mellan åren 1988-1996. Metoden för att söka svar på forskningsfrågorna är idé och ideologianalys och analysverktyget idealtyper. Teoretiskt utgår studien utifrån att maktrelationer mellan grupper kan existera även då det råder samtycke kring politiska frågor givet att frågorna kan innebära en intressekonflikt mellan olika grupper. Detta definieras inom studien som hegemonisk maktutövning. Det empiriska materialet i studien består av de två Socialdemokratiska (SAP) propositionerna Om skolans utveckling och styrning och Fristående skolor m.m.  Studiens slutsatser är att det skett ett nyliberalt idéskifte med avseende på Socialdemokraternas (SAP) syn på det fria skolvalet. Detta med avseende på partiets syn på det offentligas roll och legitimeringen av friskolor. Ett idéskifte kunde inte utläsas med avseende på Socialdemokraternas jämlikhetssyn. Vidare har denna studie kommit fram till att idén om fritt skolval inte kan sägas blivit hegemonisk. Socialdemokraternas (SAP) förändrade inställning till frågan om fritt skolval visar dock på en klyfta mellan partiet och dess intressen.

This paper examines how crime is being problematized by politics and its consequences, as well as in what direction the political parties have evolved during the last 20 years. This study highlights the changing dynamics of crime discourse and the findings show that both the Social Democrats and the Moderate party frame crime as a security issue. The Social Democrats focus on addressing the underlying causes of crime through preventive measures and social interventions, emphasizing social justice and reducing inequalities. The Moderates prioritize law and order, emphasizing personal responsibility and the deterrent effect of punishment. However both parties have elements of both a tough and soft approach to crime. Additionally, the impact of stigmatization on certain groups, such as immigrants, in criminal policy discourse should be considered. This study can be useful for the public, politicians and decision-makers to understand different perspectives and strategies that can help shape a more effective and fair criminal policy. It can further contribute to providing an understanding of how theoretical perspectives can influence law enforcement strategies and policy formulation. Moreover, it can stimulate further research in the field to examine the effectiveness of different crime-fighting strategies and how they can be adapted to better meet the needs of society.

This thesis studies the development of the Swedish criminal policy debate regarding how the Social Democrats and the Moderates, portray and propose to address gang criminality from a security perspective. Debate articles and election manifestos of 2018 and 2022 have been analyzed with the purpose of examining if there is evidence for an assumption that political parties in Sweden, other than the right-wing populist party Sweden Democrats, have come to adopt strategies to communicate with voters that are based on so-called securitization agendas. By doing this, the aim of this thesis is to deepen our understanding of whether the international trend of securitizing gang criminality has come to play also in a Swedish context. The analysis is based on the following research questions: 1) How do Social Democrats and Moderates portray gang crime following up to the elections of 2018 and 2022? 2) What securitizing statements can be identified in these representations? To answer these questions, Carol Bacchi’s analytical approach ”What’s the problem represented to be” was used in order to structure a qualitative content analysis. The theoretical foundation of the study is securitization theory, with the aim of identifying securitization efforts, more specifically regarding what or who are presented to be under threat of gang crime. Furthermore, policy suggestions by the respective party was analyzed as being either conventional or extraordinary – the latter indicating an effort to securitize this political issue.  The study finds that there has been a shift between 2018 and 2022 regarding how Social Democrats and Moderates portray gang crime as well as how they propose to address the problem. Following up to the election in 2022, both parties argued that safety, security and trust in the society are not only threatened but undermined. This causes the Moderates to present a preventive program that partly contains elements of extraordinary measures. Based on the analysis, we can establish that Social Democrats and Moderates portray the problem towards a more securitizing discourse in 2022, and, in that regard, also have come to adopt the Sweden Democrats parties attempt to securitize gang crime.

This paper utilizes a combination of quantitative text analysis and idea analysis to examine the Swedish Social Democratic Party’s election manifestos. The analysis is conducted from the ideological perspective of reformist socialism where an ideal type of ideological perspective is created and operationalized through quantitative text analysis, identifying frequencies of key ideological expressions. The primary objective of the paper is to comprehensively examine ideological changes within the party during the 21st century. The findings suggest a decreasing ideological stance between 2002-2010 and an increasing ideological stance for 2014 and 2022, however, the results for 2014 cannot be substantiated. Additionally, the paper highlights the party’s consistent ideological focus on education, welfare policies, equality, and inequality. But, despite the persistent concern over growing inequality, there has been a comparatively lesser emphasis on ideological expressions aimed at tackling the issue and there have also been surprisingly few ideological expressions addressing class struggle. Notable ideological shifts include the disappearance of expressions related to justice in 2014, an increased emphasis on democratic control in 2022, and a notable rise in ideological expressions arguing for a stronger welfare state. In conclusion, this paper enhances the understanding of ideological dynamics within the Swedish Social Democratic Party, uncovering notable shifts and trends in ideological expressions over time.

Hur ser Socialdemokraterna och Moderaternas partiprogram på personlig integritet i relation till brottslighet? Kriminalpolitiken är ett utav de mest debatterade politiska områdena idag och många gånger krockar politiska förslag med värnandet av den personliga integriteten. I denna idéanalys undersöks och jämförs Socialdemokraternas och Moderaternas partiprogram från 1990 till 2021, där syftet är att undersöka om det skett en normalisering av inskränkningar av den personliga integriteten för att komma åt brottsligheten. Undersökningen tar avstamp i Janne Flygheds teori, normalisering av det exceptionella, för att se om den process teorin beskriver går att återfinnas hos Socialdemokraterna och Moderaterna.

The purpose of this essay is to study the political horse-trading in 1933 have laid the foundation for political bloc solutions and have become a common occurrence in Swedish politics. Both the political horse-trading in 1933 and the bloc agreement in 1992 where solutions to help the nation out of severe economic crises, reduce unemployment and avoid extra election.  The high unemployment in the 1990s affected a generation who now had something in common with their grandparents who lived through the 1930s.  This essay describes the selected newspapers reporting on both the political horse-trading in 1933 and the bloc agreement in 1992 in Kalmar. This essay also describes the selected parties view of the two agreements in Kalmar.
