Hjältar och Offer : Om hedersliv, förtryck och frihet / Heroes and Victims : On honorable living, oppression and freedom

Eriksson, Sofia January 2006 (has links)

/
This thesis in Social Anthropology is based on interviews with four young men with their roots in the “honour-culture”. Three of them are members of “Sharaf Hjältar” (“Sharaf Heroes”) and are actively fighting honour-related oppression. Included in the study is also a field-study of the work of Sharaf Hjältar, consisting of seminars. The focus are on the personal experiences of the above-mentioned young men, from growing up in families inside the honour-culture, their work in Sharaf Hjältar, and their experiences in relation to their views of other’s. The last mentioned part includes both immigrants and Swedes, male and female, and closely related as well as, for the interviewed young men unknown individuals. Sharaf Hjältar is a sub-organisation to Elektra, that strives to change attitudes among young men, as only supporting exposed girls isn’t enough. Despite Elektra having a stereo-typical basic view where the girls are usually seen as victims, and boys and men as perpetrators, the interviewed young men’s experiences – direct as well as indirect – shows that boys also are exposed to honour-related oppression, or are forced into an honour-based lifestyle.

Att göra nya val - om nätverkets delaktighet i ungdomars väg ut ur ett missbruk / To make new choices - The network´s involvement in the process of young addicts´ leaving abuse

Koser, Lisa January 2009 (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine how young people, who have been treated for their misuse and/or to learn to handle a parent's misuse, portrayed the network's implication in their wishes about improving their lives, to make new choices. The network included members of nuclear family, relatives, important persons at school/work and friends. The “professional network” (therapists and social workers) also became a part in the young people's life during a period. The main issues of this study concerned differences in their experiences of the young persons´ network relationships in before, during and after completed treatment. And also what has been important in the treatment. The most important result of the study shows that despite that all the young people have had experiences of difficult problems and life relations nevertheless came to improve their life conditions. The process of change, for several of the young people, took place during a long period of time, sometimes several years. The most important aspect in this process was the own will to change. The study shows a significant change in the composition of the network. From the time of drug abuse friends of the same age were the most important persons in the network. But the relationships with the family network did improve and was experienced as important after the completion of the drug abuse, also when the youth was over 18 years of age. When the treatment was connected to a network perspective the youths´ social networks came to play a more important role after completed treatment. And thus, when there was no network approach the youth often stood entirely alone, lacking support from both family and “the professional network”. Other important factors in the treatment concerned the relationship between the youth and the professional, where private consultations played an important role. It was likewise important that the professional made it possible for the youth and other members of the family network to start a dialogue about problems in the life situation of the youth. The fact, furthermore, that other related persons outside the core family has been invited to conversations, did also contribute to a positive outcome of the process.

Gustafsson, Angelica, Oskarsson, Jon January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this study was to use stories from three people who previously lived in homelessness to increase the knowledge of the social network's impact on the process of exiting homelessness. In order to answer our questions, whether the social network facilitated or hindered the way out of homelessness, we have used a narrative method to take advantage of these person's life stories. As a theoretical perspective, we used the ecology of human development, based on the idea that human development occurs in interaction with their environment at different levels. Results showed those interviewees' networks had a significant impact on their path out of homelessness and that these relationships both facilitated and hindered this process. At the same time, these relationships affected our interviewees in different ways and were found in various areas of life, which indicates that there is more than one way out of homelessness. However, common patterns emerged in these stories that said that the relationships facilitated consisted of those who have supported and encouraged our interviewees in their way out of homelessness. While hindering relations consisted of those who disbelieved in the interviewees abilities and not supported when needed most.

”Mer än en arbetsrelation” : En studie om hemtjänstpersonalens upplevelse av sin arbetssituation / ”More than a working-relationship” : A study about home care service nurses experiences of their working situation

Benholm, Anna, Hellquist, Sylvia January 2015 (has links)
The main purpose with our study is to examine and analyze how staff in home care services perceive their work situation as well as in what way relations with colleagues or clients may have an impact on this experience. We have chosen a qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews, which builds on the experience of the interviewed individuals. Our main perspective in this study is the social pedagogy. The theoretical frame consists of social networks and the concepts community and thin networks. The collected data has been coded, categorized, thematised and analyzed in relation to former research and the theoretical perspectives. Our study results indicates that the personnel in home care services feels that they have a good and rewarding work. The contact with the users is experienced as very positive and as the main reason for them to go to work. The personnel also describe the working group as very important and it is to the colleagues they turn to get support. The result of this study clearly shows that relations are of great importance for the individuals understanding of their work situation.

Hela min själ är fylld utav sår : En studie utifrån kvinnors egna upplevelser av att leva med självskadebeteende / All my soul is filled of wounds : A study based on women’s experiences of living with self-injury.

Axelsson, Camilla, Karlsson, Josefin January 2015 (has links)
This study intends to illuminate women’s experiences of their own self-harm. Self-harm is mostly associated with women and research shows that women mostly are over-represented. This study describes women’s experiences about their self-harm but also how they perceive the elements around them during their illness. There is a focus on women’s abilities to manage emotions and how they are expressed. There is also a focus on how women perceive the support from important people in their individual social network. This study is completed by a qualitative approach based on six autobiographies there young women tells about their self-harm and mental health. The study has a hermeneutic approach which enables interpretation of our collected material. The result is presented based on two themes that focus on the women’s emotional management and their support from their social network. The empirical material is analyzed on the basis of theoretical concepts of systems theory and network theory but also Antonovsky’s (1987) theory; KASAM. The result of this study resulted that the women’s social network have significance for them during the time with self-harm whether their social network are functional or not. The study has also found that the women’s emotional management are affected by meaningsfullness, manageability and comprehensibility.

Bettar, Natali, Mankoo, Harminder January 2015 (has links)
