Innehåll och presentation av psykosocial gruppverksamhet för män med prostatacancer : C-uppsats på Sjuksköterskeprogrammet / Content and presentation of a psychosocial support group for men with prostate cancer

Helmersson, Johan, Bjervner, Victor January 2011 (has links)
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate how a support group, offering psychosocial support and physical activity to men diagnosed with prostate cancer, should be presented and what it should comprise of. Method: A qualitative descriptive approach was used. Five individual interviews and one focus group interview were conducted. All interviews were semi-structured and recorded. Main results: The content analysis of the interviews resulted in the following three categories; “Presentation of the support group”, “Attitudes” and “Content of the support group”. Each category had a number of subcategories assigned to them. Together, the categories described the views of men, diagnosed with prostate cancer, regarding the presentation and the content of Rehabilitation with conversation and yoga [RSYG]. The most surprising result was that several men, who had not participated in RSYG, expressed an interest in participating. Their main reason to not having participated was lack of time. Conclusion: In pursuit of more participants for RSYG, the persons in charge must not only design an appealing flyer or become more visible to the men. Nor is it enough that other health professionals, such as doctors and nurses, order the men to attend. The content of the support group must become more adaptable to the individual needs of the men since every man suffers different symptoms from prostate cancer. The spouses of the men should be included in the support group since they too get affected by the cancer. A mix of the strategies mentioned above should be tried and evaluated.

Att ha deltagit i föräldragrupp för anhöriga till beroende : en studie av klienttillfredsställelse / Having participated in a parenting group for relatives to addictive : a client satisfaction study

Haglund Svensson, Jeanette January 2018 (has links)
Introduction: Being a relative of a person with an addiction disease involves a strong mental and physical stress. An important protection factor for the relatives is breaking the silence and shame and seek help. Ersta Vändpunkten is a clinic for these relatives and offers educational groups with a therapeutic objective. This study focuses on program for parents/relatives to children in the so-called little child group (4-6 years). Focus in the program is to support the parents in how they can help the child to understand what is happening in the family and how to take the child’s perspective. The aim of the study is to share the parent’s experiences of participating in this group. Questions: How has participation in the parenting program affected parenting ability? How has participation in the parent group affected the family? Methods: This is a web-based survey, the questionnaire has been analyzed with descriptive statistics. Results: 30 parents/relatives have been asked to participate of whom 17 responded (57%). The survey reveals that the parent/relative now has an improved relationship with the child and that communication in the family has changed for the better. Other relationships, to relatives, friends and to the addictive part have not changed noticeably. All respondents feel the child’s and their own self-esteem have become much better/better after participating. There is also a consensus among respondents that their ability to set boundaries towards the addicted part has become much better/better. Discussion: While the high non-response rate endangers firm conclusions, the findings are nevertheless promising.

A Key to New Perspectives and Insights on Type 2 Diabetes

Lundström, Hanna, Isaksson, Hilda January 2015 (has links)
Background: Patients with type 2 diabetes have an expressed need of support and knowledge to perform self-care interventions, to integrate the illness in daily life as well as to avoid complications. Aim: The aim of this study was to identify and describe the experiences of participating in a support group in patients with type 2 diabetes. Method: The study was performed with an empirical qualitative design with an inductive approach. Eleven participants who had attended the support group for patients with type 2 diabetes participated in semi-structured interviews. Conventional qualitative content analysis was used in the analysis. Results: Participation in a person-centered support group for patients with type 2 diabetes meant that they met others with the same disease but with different life situations and experiences, which provided a basis for discussions and reflections where they received new knowledge and understanding. The design and process of the support group with preselected themes, the presence of professional diabetes nurses and an open debate atmosphere where participants could share their opinions were considered rewarding. Conclusion: Participants in the support groups were given new insights and perspectives on their own life situation, and also a realization that the problems of everyday life demand are individual and requires various solutions.

Andersson, Moa, Öst, Hannah January 2009 (has links)
<p>This study aims to examine how adolescents with diabetes describe and value their experience of participating in a support group and how they describe the issues of being a teenager with diabetes. This is a qualitative study and we have interviewed three young women who have been participating in a support group. The results of the interviews were analyzed through a phenomenological method and then compared to earlier research and interpreted through symbolic interactionism and Erikson's development-theory, which were our theories of choice. Our findings support earlier research when stating that support groups are important and necessary for adolescents with chronic illnesses. Our interviewees stated that they think that one of the most important benefits of support groups is to meet other people in their situation; same age and same chronic illness.</p>

Vändpunkten Kristianstad : en stödgruppsverksamhet / The turning point Kristianstad : a support group activity.

Olausson, Amanda, Persson, Gina January 2011 (has links)
The aim of this study has been to investigate children and adolescent development in ”The turning point” children´s and adolescent program in Kristianstad. We also wanted to find out the support group leaders experiences concerning the children´s and the adolescents development in programs and how they apprehended their role as a support group leader. Our intension was also to study how the adolescent and the children considered their own development in the program. To carry through this study, we used two types of qualitative methods i.e. qualitative interviews with the support group leaders who used the ”Turning point”  method in their work with the children’s and adolescents groups. We also used qualitative content analysis on the children’s and the adolescents written answers in their evaluation forms. The support group leaders and the adolescents described a positive development through the programs. Both parts states that this development has been noticed by an increased openness about the abuse in the family. Other results was that the children and the adolescent answered that they had realized that they were not alone in their situation, had been helped by the programs, felt happier and had come to realize that they had an identity of their own.

Change in progress : Young people's views on support and knowledge when a parent is a substance misuser or mentally ill.

Michelson, Stina January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to study young people's views on support, knowledge and change. The eight participants in this interview study are between 14 and 19 years old and they share the experience of growing up in a family where a parent is a substance misuser or mentally ill. Childhood sociology has been used as a theoretical framework. The main finding is that emotional and practical support based on the young person's needs and knowledge based on the ideas of empowerment and agency promotes change. The four most important insights according to the young persons are: My parent has got a problem. It is not my problem. I choose my own life. I am not alone. The theoretical perspective of childhood sociology suggests that positive change is possible when the young persons are seen as competent and active participants in their own life and when their value as human beings is acknowledged by those who aim to support them.
