This research investigates in which aspect public policy education presents the concept possibility to constitute a pluralistic society, based on the teaching and learning process principle and the challenge that implements the constitution of a multiethnic nation. Prior investigation in textbooks and teacher's manuals approved for National the Textbook Program [PNLD-2007] in the disciplines of History and Geography. Furthermore, it analyses how teacher may respond to the teaching and learning challenge facing cultural diversity. Teachers analyses demonstrates the identity lack of reflection, therefore, teachers face difficulties to raise discussions on this theme within school. It is said that there is an investment increase in educational public policies, and several documents developed with education empowerment by the Federal Government through the Education Ministry [MEC], which lately it provides new dimensions concerning basic education. This research focuses on the indigenous issues recovering in a non-Indian school of a border area. Its distinguishing feature has the purpose to examine elementary school grades from 1st to 5th periods, located on indigenous edges in Potiguara-PB, constructing indigenous identity essentially on textbooks giving no emphasis on Potiguara. Thus, twenty-five collections from various publishers as the main source concerning History and Geography approved in 2007 PNLD [National Textbook Program], among these collections from the two disciplines adopted by the school. It purposes to reflect how indigenous issues are presented in the textbooks distributed in public schools, regarding both written and image texts. Research within books that circulate in schools, school planning and planning activities contemplation, student tasks and teachers interviews results in this dissertation. This study also provokes the search in order to accept ethnic differences, well as students and educators difficulties. Especially Northeast indigenous ethnic groups, on the other side, quite distant from teaching works and school environment, even participating in the history and geography context

Ensino de cálculo diferencial e integral: das técnicas ao humans-with-media / Differential and Integral calculus: from the technique to humans-with-media

Aldo Freitas Vieira 04 April 2013 (has links)
The epistemological and methodological difficulties in teaching Differential and Integral Calculus in graduate classrooms, the rapid technological advancements in both hardware and software and the apparently irreversible growth of distance learning constituted a major inspiration for this work. Analyzing the difficulties in giving meaning to the study of calculus as in Barufi (1999), its epistemological nature in Rezende (2003) and the methodologies used in Distance Education, this paper explores the ideas of artificial nature in Simon (1981), the intelligence technologies of Lévy (1993) and the debate over the technique of Ortega y Gasset (1963) to culminate with the concept of the collective humans-with-media as in Borba and Villarreal (2005). The present study intends to expand the boundaries by verifying the limits and possibilities of using new Information Technologies (IT\'s) to teach Differential and Integral Calculus courses to real and virtual students within the collective of humans-with-media. It suggests a new phase is beginning, where it is impossible to separate the technique from the human being, where there is no longer a technique and a human being, but only a media oriented individual who merges with the technique to become combined actors in the process of building knowledge. In this sense, it is impossible to relinquish the use of information technologies in the study of Differential and Integral Calculus. It is imperative to understand the importance of these technologies in giving meaning to the study of Calculus by 13 the collective humans-with-media and explore these technologies as a potential resource to overcome the epistemological difficulties found in the axes systematization/construction, variability/permanence, global/local, discrete/continuous, finite/infinite and construction/meaning.

Les compétences lexicales en arabe langue étrangère/seconde : analyse d'un corpus télévisuel syrien / Lexical skills in Arabic as a second or foreign language analysis of a Syrian television corpus : analysis of a Syrian television corpus

Al-Nassan, Abidrabbo 02 July 2016 (has links)
Standard Arabic is actually the language of writing. The speeches made in the media and in some TV series are, in most cases, a literal restatement of visual coding of the language (text written in standard Arabic) in auditory coding (reading aloud the written text). Similarly, everyday Arabic does not have the same coding as Arabic that exists in the media, in books and in Arabic language courses. This gives the impression that the current teaching content is not suitable for a usage outside the language classroom. This thesis deals with the problem of the composition of the lexical content of textbooks of teaching Arabic L2 of Higher Language Institute of Damascus (Syria). A content that does not withdraw from standard norms (focus on the adaptation of a classic or moderne standard Arabic), but seeks to be as close as possible to the daily practice of language that is very rich in dialect. The current content represents the traditional approach of the lexicon, which focuses on the semantics of words and phrases while the communicative features of these language elements are little treated. The proposed analysisshows the weak points in the structure of textbooks now in use. It is based on the criteria of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the skill references of Niveaux pour le français that offer an approach batter adapted to the preparation of the lexicon in recent textbooks of teaching moderne languages. This analysis focuses on finding the crossing points in standard and spoken Arabic in Syria to build a route map that allows the learner an easy passage from what he learns in the Arabic language classroom to Arabic that is really practiced in everyday communications. It provides some solutions to reduce the gap between these two usages of Arabic.

Do they reflect the goals or not? : An analysis of three textbooks in Spanish as foreign language for the Swedish school and their reflection of the course plan for moderns languages of GY11 and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Hollertz, Julia January 2016 (has links)
When it comes to the foreign language teaching in Sweden, there are, amongst others,  two recommendation direction documents that serve as help and support to achieve an appropriate acquisition and teaching of the foreign language. These documents are the courseplan for foreign languages by GY11 that is established by the Swedish department of education and the Common European Framework of Reference for languages, that’s been written by the European Council. In this essay, we have chosen to analyse wheather or not three Spanish textbooks, Caminando 3, Alegría 3 and Vistas 3, reflect the goals that are established in these two documents. When we analyse the textbooks we are only taking two aspects of language learning into account, these are the cultural aspect and the aspect of oral interaction. In order to complement the investigation we have handed out questionnaires to eight Spanish teachers, that work in a commune in the south of Sweden, where we ask them if they try to implement the goals established by these two documents in their teaching, if they have any knowledge about these documents, and whether they find that these three textbooks reflect these goals or not. The textbook analysis shows that all of the three books accomplish the goals set by the two direction documents when it comes to both aspects. According to our investigation the book that presents the best reflection is Vistas 3, which also is the only book published after the actualisation of the courseplan of GY11.                                                                        However, the majority of the teachers believe that they know the means of both direction documents. Even so, it is clear that the course plan is the document that is best known and that the mayority of the teachers have been educated about its goals, which is the opposite of the results of the same questions concerning the Common European Framework of Reference for languages. In addition, the majority of the teachers say that they do not try to implement the goals of this document in their teaching. Then again the results of the courseplan are different as it says that the majority of the teachers actually try to implement and take notice of this document, and its goals, in their teaching.           When it comes to the questionnaire results of the textbooks, Alegría 3 has the best results. It is considered to accomplish the established goals by both documents and to serve as a functionable tool in the teaching of the two aspects. The majority results of Vistas 3 and Caminando 3 is that they are only considerd to partly accomplish the goals of the documents of directions, and to partually serve as good tools in teaching of the two aspects. To sum up, the questionnaire results of Vistas 3 and the results of the analysis don’t correspond. This might be because of the lack of knowlede that one of the teachers, who wasusing this book, had concerning the documents of direction. In conclusion, it is important to remember that the textbooks shouldn’t be used as the only teaching material to follow the guidelines of the direction documents.

Bravo Moreno, Diana 09 1900 (has links)
This research paper focusses on the study of the notion of culture in current Spanish as it is presented in foreign language textbooks (ELE: Español Lengua Extranjera). It also examines how the cultural component is addressed at a time when the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the Plan curricular del Instituto Cervantes (PCIC) have outlined the unit structure and have refreshed the content requisites for a student to be able to communicate and operate in the foreign language. Based on a literature review of teaching methods for foreign languages a template has been developed to evaluate the presence of the cultural component over a period marked by an intercultural teaching and learning influence, where culture is the central area for the development of intercultural competence for students. Using the template, it has been possible to quantify the cultural component in the analysed textbooks, differentiating what skills are used and determining if it is analysed from an intercultural perspective. Then, a second analysis is undertaken to check how the cultural component is treated in each level of study. Finally, the paper presents a brief analysis of the samples run to check the evolution of the stereotype in the analysed textbooks and define the notion of stereotyped culture about the Hispanic world. The results of our analysis show that there is an interest from ELE textbook authors to integrate the cultural component into their language content. However, the analysis also shows that the presence of the cultural component is still not fully integrated in levels A1-B1, as it is not approached in a constant intercultural way. In addition, we found that there is a tendency to address the cultural component by using skills that foster interaction in class and undermine the importance of other communicative situations necessary to strengthen the learning of ELE. At the same time, the research finds that the use of stereotypes has evolved, as it does not reinforce stereotypical beliefs about the Hispanic world like in the past. Rather, stereotypes appear less often with students encouraged to challenge them, enabling the student to reconsider their own ideas and prejudices about Hispanic culture. However, this work of breaking stereotypes requires the teacher´s objectivity and constant mediation among several actors in the process of learning to compare the reality and avoid the fossilisation of these stereotypical topics. Nevertheless, we note that there is still a mismatch when the cultural component needs to be understood and developed for ELE textbooks. As a result, there is a need to create a structured template in which culture is presented as the main area to learn the language. This research paper emphasises the need to promote a process of intercultural teaching-learning in ELE textbooks.

"En bild säger mer än tusen ord" : Hur tre olika skönlitterärt uppbyggda läroböcker utformat bildstöd för årskurs 1. / "A picture is worth a thousand words" : How three different fiction-based textbooks designed visual support for year 1.

Simonsson, Kim, Kraaijenbrink, Elin January 2020 (has links)
Studien tar avstamp i Richard E. Mayers (2014) teori om multimodal inlärning: Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning.

Den latinamerikanska (under)representationen : En multimodal textanalys av svenskt läromedel för spanskspråkig undervisning / The (under)Representation of Latin America : A Multimodal Text Analysis of Swedish Textbooks for Spanish Teaching

Sellgren, Hanna January 2023 (has links)
This study aims to investigate the representation of Latin America in verbal and visual text in Swedish textbooks for Spanish teaching. More specifically, this analysis examines how much of the text is represented by Latin American people in comparison to European people, how Latin Americans are represented and how large the prevalence of each form of representation is, as well as which verbal and visual patterns are present in the textbooks. A quantitative content analysis was used to examine the study's question regarding the extent of the different text forms. The method of the analysis for the remaining questions surrounding the representation of Latin Americans was based on a multimodal critical discourse analysis with a social semiotic approach. The result indicates that Latin Americans comprise a smaller proportion of the extent of text than Europeans. Based on the results of the analysis of representation, the textbooks differed to some extent in the representation of Latin Americans, but the common patterns made visible were that Latin Americans are most often portrayed as impersonal and socially distanced in relation to the recipient. Finally, the result of analysis is problematized in relation to the didactic implications that can be brought about while teaching and the importance of teachers having and teaching critical literacy is highlighted.
