Kajsdotter Smålander, Marie January 2023 (has links)
Women suffering from domestic violence and substance abuse are described as a public health problem with an increased risk of poor health, unemployment and social exclusion. While several initiatives have been implemented at a national level to address men's violence against women, especially for women with co-occurring substance abuse, social services at the municipal level are criticized for their inadequate work with this client group. Thus, this study examines how social services’ work with women who are victims of domestic violence and substance abuse, can be understood from a health, work life and equality perspective. The analysis, made through a narrative synthesis of the articles (n=25) in the review, revealed five issues which were central to the work of social services (RQ1): organization, role of politics, lack of knowledge, relationships and trust between social workers and clients and lastly committed social workers. One conclusion drawn, related to health, work life and equality (RQ2), is that social workers and policymakers need to increase their understanding of how global inequalities form the basis for problems such as women as victims of domestic violence with co-occurring substance abuse. This recognition is a prerequisite for reducing gaps between people, improving women's lives, and promoting their integration into society.

Sleeping Beauty & The Mistress of Evil : En semiotisk analys av Disneys Aurora och Maleficent

Bureteg, Tilda, Starck, Maria-Linnéa January 2020 (has links)

Den dolda sidan av våld i nära relation / The hidden side of domestic violence

Dimura, Vasilika, Ramic, Hana January 2023 (has links)
Male victims of domestic abuse with women as perpetrators is not a common supposition and seems to be a topic which needs further attention. The purpose of our essay is therefore to investigate men's experiences of being abused by a woman in a romantic relationship. The survey aims to illustrate the men's own voices. The aim is also to illustrate the consequences of being a man and having a female perpetrator in a romantic relationship. The study was conducted through biographies, all written by men with experience of this essay's subject. The result is divided in three main themes: the experience of the abuse, shame and being a victim and a male at the same time. The most prominent results included men’s experiences of both physical and psychological abuse where they were a victim of violence by their female partner and suffered major injuries and endured many years of control, humiliation and violations. The results also presented consequences of being a male victim of domestic abuse which featured feelings of shame, fear of others acknowledging them as weak and not being accepted as a victim by society.

Både offer och förövare? : Offentliga publikationer om pojkar och unga män som lever i en hederskontext / Both victims and perpetrators? : Publications on boys and young men living in honor context

Esping, Ebba, Holmer, Ebba January 2023 (has links)
Honor-related violence and oppression are societal issues that are relevant to social work. However, it is an under-researched area with a lack of knowledge, especially regarding boys and young men in an honor context. The existing research primarily focuses on girls and women. The aim of this study was to describe the content of public publications regarding social work on honor-related violence and oppression in relation to boys and young men. The focus was to examine how boys and young men in an honor context are described as both victims and perpetrators. In addition to that, the study also aimed to investigate the interventions available for this target group. Thematic content analysis was used to address the research questions and objectives by analyzing and thematizing the content of public publications. The findings of this study indicate that boys and young men exist in dual roles as both victims and perpetrators, but more emphasis is often placed on their role as perpetrators rather than victims, as girls' and women's victimization is considered more extensive. Furthermore, the study suggests that there are few interventions specifically targeted at boys and young men living in an honor context. The available interventions mainly focus on victims. The results have been analyzed using power theory and street-levelbureaucracy theory. The analysis demonstrates that power is a central aspect in both an honor context and the practice of social work, and that the structure of street-level bureaucracy affects work with this target group. Therefore, this study concludes that more knowledge and work are needed regarding boys and young men in an honor context.

Kühn, Franziska 21 April 2023 (has links)

A Gentlemen's Benevolence: Symptoms of Class, Gender, and Social Change in Emma, Nicholas Nickleby, and The Mill on the Floss

Hammer, Aubrey Lea 10 July 2007 (has links) (PDF)
Austen, Dickens, and Eliot each responded to discussions of their time concerning class, gender, and social change. One of the ways they addressed these issues, and sought to find solutions to the problems facing their culture, was through benevolence. Knightley, in Emma, uses benevolence as a means of mediating self-interest and sympathy. By acting out of sympathy, through benevolence, he achieves the self-interested benefits of reinforcing the class system and achieving his romantic conquests. Likewise, Dickens' Nicholas Nickleby learns how to use benevolence as a means of social mobility from his mentors, the Cheerybles. Throughout Nicholas Nickleby the hero learns how to engage in benevolence out of sympathy, and by doing so he establishes himself as a gentleman and reaps social, economic, and romantic advantages. Eliot's Bob Jakin in The Mill on the Floss engages in benevolence out of true sympathy unhindered by self-interest. His freedom from social constraint and self-interest allows him to truly help Maggie Tulliver when no one else can. These authors' depictions of benevolence all illuminate ways that nineteenth-century literary authors sought to navigate the “Adam Smith Problem" of sympathy vs. self-interest. Benevolence, in these novels, is not disinterested (regardless of their motivation) but is influenced by the character's and author's perception of class, gender, and social change in the nineteenth century.

Жертва и жертвенность в русской словесности XVI–XVII вв.: контекстуальные и образные модификации : магистерская диссертация / Victim and Self-Sacrifice in Russian Literature of 16th–17th Centuries: Contextual and Figurative Modifications

И., Popovich, A. I. January 2022 (has links)
This work studies the dynamics of use of the sacred for Christian culture literary topoi of victim and self-sacrifice in Era of Change’s Russian literature (the second half of the 16th – early 18th centuries), the trends of its secularization and ideologization. Special attention is paid to the variation of rhetorical strategies and imagery of these “common places” in the literary polemic of Ivan the Terrible and Andrey Kurbsky (as well as its reception) and in the Old Believers’ works.

Modern Slavery in Southeast Asia : Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Burmese Victims of Trafficking in Persons, Yangon, Myanmar

Lavmo, Ellinor January 2020 (has links)
Purpose: The overarching purpose of this research paper is to broaden the understanding of the rehabilitation and reintegration of trafficking victims by illustrating and explaining common rehabilitation and reintegration processes of Burmese trafficking victims, girls and women, in Yangon, Myanmar. As part of that overarching purpose, this paper also aims to analyse how and if the victims’ human rights are being properly upheld. The paper highlights the problem of the state’s actions of upholding human security and the right to possess protection against modern slavery, with specific focus on trafficked girls or women as right holders and the state (in this case Myanmar) together with non-state responsibility-holders as duty bearers. Method: The paper is based on data derived from a field study, with the empirical material gathered through walk-along at a trafficking shelter and semi-structured interviews with several NGOs, IGOs and other actors and in Yangon, Myanmar. Analysis: In Myanmar there is a lack of shelter space and not enough focus on the long-lasting impact of trauma in a trafficked person's life. A majority of trafficking victims that escape from trafficking situations are placed in shelters operated by the Department of Social Welfare (DSW-shelters) for a few days before being repatriated to their families and/or home community. This method, i.e., the repatriation of victims to their respective home community, is cost efficient, but not always in the best interest of the victims as it increases the risk of re-trafficking. Some victims are offered help from reintegration programs where vocational training is a common component, but little other effort is made to rehabilitate the victim from their psychological trauma. Many victims that seek restorative justice within the court system do not enjoy a fair trial, as procedures are unclear, and corruption is common amongst both judges and prosecutors. The lack of restorative justice is another factor that hinders the victims rehabilitating from their trauma as it decreases the chance to fully reintegrating the victims into society on a long-term basis. Finally, the enforcement of anti-trafficking laws is weakened by the fact that the Myanmar Anti-Trafficking Police Force is understaffed, undereducated and overworked.

A link between healthcare and the judiciary : Nurse's experiences of forensic nursing in the meeting with adult crime victims

Ericsson, Denise, Ohlin Åstrand, Astrid January 2023 (has links)
Introduction: With increased incidence of violence in Sweden, forensic nursing is becoming an increasingly topical topic in healthcare. Forensic nursing is the link that connects healthcare and the justice system. The patient group consists of perpetrators, victims and relatives. Collection and preservation of evidence are things occurring in forensic nursing. Purpose: To describe the nurse's experiences of forensic nursing in the meeting with adult crime victims. Method: Literature review with a qualitative approach, nine articles were analyzed and processed.  Results: Two categories were worked out in the results; barriers in handling evidence and the nurse's emotional challenge. Two subcategories were; lack of knowledge, routines and protocols and lack of time. Treatment that instills empathy and security is important. Without training in forensic nursing, it becomes difficult for nurses to identify and provide adequate and correct care to the patient group. Conclusion: Forensic nursing can contribute to the conviction of perpetrators, create redress for crime victims and safe care. The nurse's work to detect and prevent violent crimes is important. Thus, nurses' training in forensic nursing is crucial. There is a need for further research in the area in order to add more knowledge.
