A formulação platônica contrapõese à pólis e ao que nela é definido como liberdade, pois pluralidade corresponde ao âmbito das opiniões e não ao âmbito confiável da verdade. Para uma reconsideração do conceito de vita activa, Hannah Arendt põe-se ao exame fenomenológico e fundamental, na pólis préfilosófica, do sentido que os gregos davam às atividades da condição humana. Isto implica também a interrogação sobre o significado e a primazia que cada época histórica conferiu a cada uma delas. Trabalho, (labor), obra (work) e ação são constituintes da vita activa e estão em direta correspondência com as condições humanas básicas: a vida, a mundanidade e a pluralidade. O agir com os objetos, próprio do homo faber, define-o nos primeiros estágios da era moderna. Como animal laborans, ocupa lugar de destaque e a necessidade é posta como fim último. A política, iniciadora de processos, perde em dignidade e em espaço de liberdade. A constatação de que o espaço público deixa de existir e a política é substituída pela administração de coisas não impediram Hannah Arendt de pensar a possibilidade do acontecimento político em sua essência. Este acontecimento é reconhecido nos movimentos revolucionários modernos e contemporâneos presentes nos sistemas de conselhos que, como órgãos de ação, brotam espontaneamente.

Throughout this study, we will present the historical context of Palestine, focusing in the Roman domination, development of Herods’s government, and the successive foreign achievements in the first century a.C., we will observe some questions related to Josephus’s origin and rise, as well his participation during the war between jews and romans (66-70 a.C.). Lastly, we will analyze the Jewish historian’s speech in Vita, observing his positioning throughout the work. This study is based on bibliographic research (historiography) concerning on the subject, as well the document analysis (sources) produced by this historian at the end of the first century of Christian era. / A presente dissertação de Mestrado pretende analisar e discutir o discurso de construção de Flávio Josefo (37-100 d.C.) por meio de sua obra Vita. Ao longo do trabalho, apresentaremos o contexto histórico da Palestina, enfocando a dominação romana, o desenvolvimento do governo de Herodes, o Grande e as sucessivas conquistas estrangeiras no século I d.C., observaremos questões relacionadas a origem e ascensão de Josefo, como também sua participação durante a guerra entre judeus e romanos (66-70 d.C.). Por fim, analisaremos o discurso do historiador judeu em Vita, observando seu posicionamento ao longo da obra. O estudo fundamenta-se na pesquisa bibliográfica (historiografia) referente ao tema, como também na análise de documentos (fontes) produzidos pelo historiador em destaque no final do século I da era cristã.

The objective of this thesis was to evaluate radio receivers that had been previously acquired for other tasks by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, for additional service in a radio direction finding (DF) system. The antenna, calibration signal generator and DF algorithm were provided. As the receivers used the VITA 49 frame format, much of the work involved the interpretation of the frame structure and contents. The other main challenges were to put the receivers into the correct internal state, to compensate the analogue phase errors due to cabling, and to correlate the digital frames according to the time stamps. The work was performed partly as a literature study and, during implementation, by using an investigative trial and-error method. Collection of reference signals, for later offline analysis, was made at the Swedish Defence Research Agency. The findings of the evaluation was that the receivers were phase coherent and that the VITA 49 frame format was suitable for DF use. An apparently systematic error of unknown origin rendered the DF results inaccurate, even though the precision of the results was high. The automatic gain control (AGC) of the receivers did not perform according to norm. If the systematic error is compensated for, and the AGC problem is eliminated, the receivers will function as a DF system using the manufacturer's instructions, with the provided antenna. The performance of the receivers in this setting was not a primary concern for the thesis, but was deemed to be acceptable. Suggestions for further development include finding the source of the systematic error, an automatic calibration function, a more thorough performance analysis, and code optimizations using multiple threads.

Sedan långt tillbaka i tiden har idrottare behandlats olika på grund av sin ras, hudfärg eller etniska tillhörighet. Idrottsjournalistiken har visat sig ha stor inverkan på detta, då det konstaterats att medierna tenderar att framställa mörkhyade idrottare och idrottare med annan etnisk bakgrund på ett stereotypiskt och förvrängt sätt i jämförelse med vita idrottare. Genom att analysera artiklar från utvalda engelska nyhetssidor, och därefter jämföra den insamlade datan med resultat från tidigare studier som gjorts med fokus på USA, är syftet med följande studie att belysa hur framställningen av idrottare ser ut i olika delar av världen och hur framställningen eventuellt förändrats med åren. Studien tillämpade ett kvantitativt tillvägagångssätt i redogörelsen och sammanställningen av resultatet, medan artiklarnas innehåll analyserats ur ett mer kvalitativt perspektiv för att skapa en djupare förståelse för ämnet.   Resultatet visade att idrottare med olika bakgrund alltjämt framställs på ett mer negativt och stereotypiskt sätt i och av media. Fortsättningsvis identifierades ett antal betydande faktorer i mediernas innehåll och hur de genom dessa på olika sätt skapar en uppfattning av att mörkhyade idrottare och idrottare med annan etnisk bakgrund är mindre mänskliga än vita idrottare. För att göra idrotten till en mer jämställd och rättvis plats för samtliga inblandade, ligger således det huvudsakliga ansvaret hos medierna och journalisterna själva med tanke på deras makt och inflytande på allmänheten.

“this Unpleasent klientel” A study on refugee care in Växjö between the years 1944 and 1947. The purpose of this study was to examine the treatment of sick refugees in Växjö in the 1940s. To achieve this a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods were used. The material found in the local archive and local newspaper was then put together and analyzed from the theoretical perspective, gender, class, ethnicity and social status. The result of this study shows that there were two main treatment wards for refugees, one that was supposed to treat women and children with active tuberculosis and the other ward treated refuges with “epidemic diseases.” Foreign citizens were also taken care of in other words that were also not meant for refugees only, like the Epidemic hospital, which treated about 80 patients of a foreign nationality between 1944 and 1946. This study shows that the patients were admitted at epidemic hospitals in different migration waves, first mostly people from Estonia, most likely people from concentration camps and then a lot of children from Dutch refugee camps in Sweden. The last group registered at the hospital where of young French women. The first waves of refugees suffered from diseases such as diphtheria and typhus, but the latter hade scarlet fever that was normal at the time in Sweden. Of all the hundreds of foreigners that were treated in Växjö during this timeframe, their where were three different ethnic groups: Estonian, Polish and Jews that brought fought complaints about the care given to them. The complaints included everything from medical care to the living conditions, but it seems as if the complaints were of no avail.

Föreliggande studie är en analys av fyra internationellt publicerade vetenskapliga artiklar och två svenska publikationer som berör användandet av interaktiva vita tavlor (IVT) i ett klassrumssammanhang. Som blivande lärare vill jag undersöka talet kring IVT och interaktivitet och se om tekniken håller vad tillverkarna lovar. Metoden jag valt att använda är en form av textanalys artiklarna har lästs med fokus på interaktivitet i undervisningen. Jag kommer att definiera interaktivitet för att sedan använda definitionen som analysverktyg. Det finns idag (2010) endast ett fåtal publikationer som rör IVT i ett svenskt sammanhang, därför har jag valt att komplettera min studie med en intervju för att spegla den internationella forskningen i ett svenskt exempel. Resultaten av studien visar att talet om interaktivitet i de publikationer som ingår i studien är mycket sparsmakat och att tonvikten ligger mer på handhavandet av tekniken. Slutsatsen av studien är att man inte kan köpa interaktivitet i en klassrumsmiljö utan att interaktivitet skapas av deltagarna i den pedagogiska verksamheten.
