Mendes, Maria de Fátima 01 June 2010 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T19:34:48Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Maria de Fatima Mendes.pdf: 31587343 bytes, checksum: 4361c06befa3923e03eeb1c5a75ab12d (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-06-01 / Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo / This thesis belongs to the line of research History and Description of the Portuguese Language and focuses on the linguistic and argumentative resources used by Tomás Antônio Gonzaga, in his Cartas Chilenas, by means of a Linguistic Historiography, following the principles of contextualization, immanence and adequacy, proposed by Konrad Koerner (1996). Therefore, it is a study that addresses the arguments and figures of speech present in the poem gonzaguiano, to observe how these categories can move the passions in the listener, with the intention of alerting and becoming aware people from Minas Gerais state in the mid-eighteenth century with regard to the events. These elements are studied in light of the works of George Campbell and Luis Antônio Verney, philosophers of the eighteenth century. In this case, the principle of immanence is followed. The author s spirit of time is reconstructed, so the principle of contextualization is respected. For the modern reader s better understanding is presented the work Tratado da Argumentação: A Nova Retórica of Chaim Perelman and Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca to demonstrated how these categories are seen nowadays. Thus, the principle of adequacy is also applied. The research aims to examine, based on the presuppositions of the Linguistic Historiography, the relation between the linguistic marks of the Cartas Chilenas and the Brazilian historical context of the eighteenth century, to identify the argumentative resources used by Tomás Antônio Gonzaga and to point the particularities of the argumentation and of the figures of speech, in the work, starting from Classic Rhetoric Considering the results, we can say that, in the analyzed work, Gonzaga looked for in the enlightenment ideals subsidies to write his poem denouncing the despotism in the eighteenth century in that Brazil was still controlled by Portugal. The comical and satirical aspect was also an argumentative strategy used by the poet in order to attack the corruption in Villa Rica due to governor Cunha Meneses s bad administration. For persuading the reader, the poet used the arguments of probability or verisimilitude; of plausibility; the importance of ideas; the proximity of time;f the connection of place; the relation of the persons and the interest in the consequences, as the figures climax, correction, vision, exclamation, apostrophe, question mark, antonomasia, synecdoche, metonymy, euphemism, antithesis, repetition and amplification.

Silva, Gleice Rayane Macedo 28 February 2018 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The social transformations that the world has faced, due to distance reduction between rural and urban areas or the increase in the use of technologies, have linked several individuals’ social activities to writing practice. Teaching strategies adopted at schools had to be rethought as a consequence of such social dynamic, a change that was reinforced by the progress of scientific studies within the educational field. As a result, teachers have to seek new ways for promoting their students’ social inclusion by adopting different teaching strategies at schools. This paper arises from this movement towards the improvement of student’s performance when using Portuguese Language. Thus, this report presents the results of a pedagogical intervention in the 9th grade class of elementary education of Alfredo Montes State School (CEAM), in Nossa Senhora do Socorro city – state of Sergipe – that showed demands for better written production. This research was developed in the ambit of the Professional Master’s Degree in Portuguese Language – PROFLETRAS, São Cristóvão campus, of Federal University of Sergipe, and it was conducted according to action research methodology by Tripp (2005), having as its focus the students’ written contextual adequacy. We started from the hypothesis that retextualization could help decrease the classroom’s demands. The intervention aim was the students’ written competences development, by adopting retextualization as a strategy for comparative teaching of written genre, offering an opportunity to create news from a short story. For this, we prepared a Pedagogical Activities Notebook for students that contains teacher’s guidance, which was incorporated into a Didactic Sequence created by performing an intersection between the sequences of Cosson (2016) and Dolz, Noverraz and Schneuwly (2004), aiming to attenuate the identified difficulty within the mentioned class. The Notebook and the Didactic Sequence were produced based upon the theoretical and methodological approaches of Bronckart (2006), concerning the Socio-discursive Interactionism, whose text concept was adopted, regulating the treatment granted to other studies, for instance retextualization by Dell’Isola (2007) and Marcuschi (2010); contextualization by Koch and Elias (2015b), Baltar (2003) and Lima (2010); reading strategies by Solé (1998) and Koch and Elias (2015a), also suggestions about text production by Passarelli (2012). In addition to that, the interactive correction by Soares (2009) and official documents suggestions that guide teacher’s professional practice, such as National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and the Portuguese National Curricular Parameters (PCNLP). The results revealed that the production of texts in a direct language is a complex task for those students who are not accustomed to write objectively, and that this practice has to be provided regularly at schools, in order to offer students the opportunity to learn other languages effectively. Finally, the research participants’ text productions showed different levels of contextual and genre adequacies, according to the adopted text evaluation criteria, indicating that the systematized teaching of retextualization is a viable way for leading them to write in a contextualized manner.

Andrade, José Undário 25 September 2014 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Jose Undario Andrade.pdf: 504544 bytes, checksum: 0364ba42ca3f8f04e8cb9f24b406ada1 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-09-25 / The present study has as its object the study of the power of the civil court and judges to tailor the procedure provided by law to the case. If one side of the legislator 's duty to create the necessary procedures for protection of the right materials provided abstractly, it seems necessary to understand that it is also given to the magistrate, and some uniquely contoured on a theoretical level, a related power so that it can perform precisely the same activity. We believe that this possibility is due to the Brazilian legal and constitutional system, which besides allowing the general control of the constitutionality of laws, including under the rules of procedure; expressed the need to reach the constitutional dictates of a timely judicial review and above all effective, it also has to be better suited to resolve the factual issues that are brought to the Judiciary. Was this attempted rapprochement between the substantive and procedural law, through the study of differentiated guardianships, as well as the principles of instrumentality and fungibility, which moved us to try to establish criteria for this adequacy is reached by the judge in his activity, preserved since the constitutional principles and parameters. That's what we intend to identify and propose / Este trabalho tem como objeto o estudo do poder do juiz cível de adequar o procedimento previsto em lei ao caso concreto.

Ye, Li January 2009 (has links)
The aim of this study is to analyze the preparation of Chinese students for the Celpe-Bras proficiency exam and discuss the washback effects of the exam on this process. A qualitative research was carried out with three Chinese students and two teachers of a cram course taken by these students. The study focuses on the activities developed by the prep course and the extra class activities carried out by the students to prepare for the exam. The data include the observation of eight classes of the cram course and of the students’ extra class activities, eight interviews with the students and two with the teachers, and the texts produced by the students, which were analyzed with respect to the teachers’ feedback and to the students’ understanding of the guidance they received during the prep course. The results suggest that the guidelines of the prep course are consistent with the construct of the exam and focus mainly on the correction criterion ‘adequacy to context’, which operationalizes the underlying concept of language proficiency of the exam: the adequate use of the language to perform actions in the world. The course guidelines contributed especially to improve the students’ listening and writing skills. In addition, the students’ perceptions of their language learning process changed during the preparation for the exam: their understanding of the language proficiency concept ‘use of language’ and their search for reading and listening to authentic texts, also in their daily lives, to prepare for the exam suggest a positive washback effect of the Celpe-Bras on these students’ Portuguese learning process. The results of this research contribute to the debate on the washback effects of performance tests, to the elaboration of cram courses for the Celpe-Bras exam, and to the organization of educational curricula that aim at developing the use of language.

Interface cerveau-machine : de nouvelles perspectives grâce à l'accélération matérielle / Brain-computer interface : new perspectives through hardware acceleration

Libessart, Erwan 30 November 2018 (has links)
Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI) are systems that use brain activity to control an external device. Various techniques can be used to collect the neural signals. The measurement can be invasive ornon-invasive. Electroencephalography (EEG) is the most studied non-invasive method. Indeed, EEG offers a fine temporal resolution and ease of use but its spatial resolution limits the performances of BCI based on EEG. The spatial resolution of EEG can be improved by solving the EEG inverse problem, which allows to determine the distribution of electrical sources in the brain from EEG. Currently, the main difficulty is the time needed(several hours) to compute the matrix which is used to solve the EEG inverse problem. This document describes the proposed solution to provide a hardware acceleration of the matrix computation. A dedicated electronic architecture has been implemented and tested. First results show that the proposed architecture divides the calculation time by a factor of 60 on a programmable circuit. This acceleration opens up new perspectives for EEG BCI.

Modelling the impact of close-out netting on bank portfolios

Taranto, Aldo, not supplied January 2007 (has links)
The stochastic volatility of daily foreign exchange (FX) derivatives poses a number of risks for the international banking community. Settlement risk, liquidity risk and capital adequacy are just a few immediate concerns that arise from such volatility. This thesis examines the impact of close-out netting on minimising the stochastic volatility of inter-bank FX derivatives. The problem with close-out netting is that although it is a simple formula of taking the differences between two banks at one point in time, it is the stochastic and volatile nature of FX rates that makes measuring the full impact of netting difficult. The objective of this thesis is to establish a realistic international banking framework or modelling environment in which close-out netting can be scientifically applied and examined. Five international daily FX rates will be used as sufficient approximations for five international banks. A generalised autoregressive conditionally heteroschedastic (GARCH) modelling approach is adopted as a robust and rich FX volatility paradigm. Then through Monte Carlo simulation of the resulting fitted GARCH models, we generate the distributions -with and without close-out netting. The findings of this thesis are interesting, showing that close-out netting is far more than just a simple mathematical process. Netting surely does reduce each bank's exposure to FX volatility, however, its multivariate nature reveals some important results for banking risk research and bank analysts.

Un miroir aux alouettes ? : Stratégies pour la traduction des métaphores

Hagström, Anne-Christine January 2002 (has links)
This dissertation has three goals : to establish an inventory of translation strategies applicable to the translation of metaphor, to investigate how the application of these strategies affects the balance in metaphorical quality between source text and target text, and, finally, to determine whether this balance is a useful indicator of the direction of the translation as a whole, towards either adequacy or acceptability. To carry out this research the author has established a corpus comprising 250 metaphors from the novel La goutte d’or by Michel Tournier and its Swedish translation, Gulddroppen by C.G. Bjurström. Based on the criteria thematical and contextual connection 158 metaphors from this corpus have been selected for analysis. The strategy used in the translation of each metaphor has been established. The degree of balance in metaphorical quality between the two texts has then been determined and its significance as an indicator of the direction of the translation as a whole has been discussed. The underlying theory and methodology of the study are those of Gideon Toury as outlined in his book Descriptive Translation Studies and beyond. The study is thus essentially descriptive in nature. The dissertation is divided into two parts. The first part gives a survey of well known research within the fields of metaphor theory and translation theory. Various theories concerning the requested equality between a text and its translation are presented, as well as inventories of translation strategies established by a number of researchers. The second part contains the analysis of the selected metaphors and establishes a set of strategies for this purpose.
