Integrationsprocessen bland nyanlända syrier i Norrköpings kommun : En kvalitativ studie om tolv berättelser om medborgarskap, empowerment och socialt kapital / The integration process among newly arrived Syrians in Norrköping municipality : - A qualitative study of twelve stories of citizenship, empowerment and social capital

Reagan, Matulu January 2020 (has links)
This thesis is based on a qualitative study on how newly arrived citizens from Syria that livein Norrköping experience their exercise of civil rights and obligations during the integrationprocesses. The study is based on 12 qualitative interviews that were conducted between Mayand early June 2020 and which are examined using narrative analysis. It focuses on the theoryof citizenship based on its three complementary concepts; integration, empowerment andsocial capital. A structural analysis of this data focuses on rights and obligations in theintegration process; empowerment in the form of authority and participation, as well as socialcapital, which has to do with trusting others, reciprocity, as well as interpersonal trust. All informants have shown that they have knowledge that contributes to an understanding ofcitizenship theory. Newly arrived informants say that they are not able to exercise their civilrights and obligations fully, and they say that they have previously experienced a differenttreatment compared to ethnics Swedes. From this study, I conclude that Swedish citizenshipmeans all citizens are equal rights before the law, but from the experiences of citizens ofSyrian origin, citizenship can be experienced differently depending on where you are from.

Serti, Christina, Hanna, Rania January 2008 (has links)

This study is an investigation of newly arrived young Iraqis and their view on obstacles and opportunities available in a secondary school in Södertälje City. This is also a comparative study between the newly arrived Iraqis schooling in Iraq and in Sweden. We have used theoretical concepts such as culture, ethnicity, refugee, intercultural education, socialization and PTSD. These have helped us to provide distinct guidelines when we analyze newly arrived young Iraqis in Södertälje City. Our approach has been based on qualitative interviews with both students and teachers. We have concluded that the Iraqi students that we interviewed did not feel that there were opportunities in the Iraqi school, but obstacles did exist. However, we discovered that all students experienced a lot of opportunities and some obstacles in the Swedish school. In our final discussion, we concluded that the Swedish school should invest more time and resources for newly arrived refugees with traumatic backgrounds.

Βαγιωνάκης, Γιώργος 05 January 2011 (has links)

Queueing Network Models for Performance Evaluation of Dynamic Multi-Product Manufacturing Systems

January 2020 (has links)
abstract: Modern manufacturing systems are part of a complex supply chain where customer preferences are constantly evolving. The rapidly evolving market demands manufacturing organizations to be increasingly agile and flexible. Medium term capacity planning for manufacturing systems employ queueing network models based on stationary demand assumptions. However, these stationary demand assumptions are not very practical for rapidly evolving supply chains. Nonstationary demand processes provide a reasonable framework to capture the time-varying nature of modern markets. The analysis of queues and queueing networks with time-varying parameters is mathematically intractable. In this dissertation, heuristics which draw upon existing steady state queueing results are proposed to provide computationally efficient approximations for dynamic multi-product manufacturing systems modeled as time-varying queueing networks with multiple customer classes (product types). This dissertation addresses the problem of performance evaluation of such manufacturing systems. This dissertation considers the two key aspects of dynamic multi-product manufacturing systems - namely, performance evaluation and optimal server resource allocation. First, the performance evaluation of systems with infinite queueing room and a first-come first-serve service paradigm is considered. Second, systems with finite queueing room and priorities between product types are considered. Finally, the optimal server allocation problem is addressed in the context of dynamic multi-product manufacturing systems. The performance estimates developed in the earlier part of the dissertation are leveraged in a simulated annealing algorithm framework to obtain server resource allocations. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Industrial Engineering 2020

Alina, Manolea, Olimpia, Panagiotidou January 2023 (has links)

Scaffolding and Differentiating Methods for Including Low-Proficiency Learners in English as a Foreign Language in Grades 4–6.

Kumar, Reena January 2023 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate the inclusion of low-proficiency students in grades 4-6 in EFL classrooms in Sweden. The low-proficiency students are identified as new arrivals who are still in the process of mastering the Swedish language and Swedish speakers who have a negative attitude and low motivation towards the learning of English language. The methods used to collect data were interviews and classroom observations of four certified English teachers in grades 4-6. The findings of this study showed that the teachers supported the inclusion of low-proficiency students through differentiated methods and scaffolding. The results revealed that a lack of common language is an obstacle in the inclusion of new arrivals in the EFL classrooms.
