"... så här är det bara" : Adoptivföräldrars tankar och känslor om barnets bakgrund / "... that´s just the way it is" : Thoughts and feelings of adoptive parents regarding the background of their children

Adoptive parents need to be able to reflect on the interaction with the child, both from the perspective of their own relational experience with the child and from the perspective of the previous experience of the child. This essay explores five adoptive parent´s thoughts and feelings about their children’s background. It also looks into how they think that the children’s background influences their way of expressing their needs and how this makes the parents feel. Data has been collected through semi-structured interviews which have been analyzed using thematic analysis. The thoughts and feelings around the children’s background mainly concerns how the children were taken care of prior to the adoption and the birth parents. The parents expressed feelings of sadness and sorrow regarding how the children were taken care of prior to the adoption. Thinking of how it could have been for the children gave rise to strong emotions. The parents expressed sympathy and sorrow but also rivalry, envy and anger towards the birth parents. They describe different behaviors’ and expressions that the children have and how they think that these may be related to the experiences the children had prior to the adoption. The parents describe what the children’s behaviors and expressions arouse within themselves. They tell about strong somatic and dissociative reactions, feelings of guilt, uncertainty and insufficiency. The parents also describe how the interaction with their children reminds them of painful experiences from their own childhood. The accounts show the importance of the parents´ ability to mentalise and how they think about needs that the children don´t express.

The historical era between 1850 and 1950 is known to be a turbulent period reflected not only in adult literature but also in the texts written for children. This unusually rich period in terms of political, social and ideological development certainly influenced most parts of the world. However, it was particularly important for England mainly for the transition of the Victorian era and Edwardian period to the modern history initiated by the WW I. Throughout this period many new ideologies arose and scientific discoveries were more numerous than ever. In 1859, for instance, Darwin's On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection was published and initiated the still on-going war period between Christianity and science. At the same time, the concept of childhood started to be understood in a different way and books written for children became a common commodity converting the end of 18th century in the Golden Age of children's literature. However, according to Peter Hunt's publication Understanding Children's Literature, 'all texts are inevitably infused by ideologies'. My thesis is a study of how the perception of booktalk aimed at kids and youngsters in the Swedish educational system has changed between 1932 and 2007. A discursive reading of articles in the magazine Biblioteksbladet provides the basis for my investigation. The thesis argues that an older "authoritaritan" and "traditional" discourse has given way for a more modern, "anti-authoritaritan" and "lust"-directed discourse. The older discourse was designed to make sure that young people were provided with a certain well-defined quantity of "approved" literature. The new discourse stresses the importance of fostering kids and youngsters with a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards reading in general. However the new discoruse is not without conflicts of its own, som e of which are addressed in this thesis. In order to provide for a basis of method concerning the making of a discursive reading of the articles of Biblioteksbladet included in the investigation are several discourse analytical perspectives such as amongst others that of Michel Foucault discussed in the thesis.

Children nowadays are exposed to a huge amount of advertisements wherever they go. It appears that children are a very attractive target group because of their ability to influence their parents to buy them preferred products and brands. This Thesis focuses on analysis of children's influence on their parents' purchase decisions. The Thesis consists of 5 chapters. First three parts are theoretical. The introductory chapter deals with the consumer's purchase decision-making process and factors that affect this process. The second part describes family as a special consumer unit which forms individual consumer behaviour. Final theoretical chapter focuses on the child as a specific consumer and customer. In the practical part the reserach is conducted to reveal into what extent children influence their parents about purchase. At the end the recommendations for successful children advertisement are set up.

[pt] De primeira hora, no calor da hora: a crítica brasileira de literatura infantil nas décadas de 1970 e 1980 estuda a produção da crítica literária brasileira dos anos 1970 a 1980 sobre literatura infantil, com ênfase nas contribuições seminais nestas décadas, período divisor de águas, considerado o boom da nova literatura infantil e juvenil brasileira. A tese se desenvolve a partir da revisão bibliográfica das publicações de críticos literários brasileiros de literatura infantil selecionadas a partir de três pontos de produção significativa durante o período estudado: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro e Região Sul do Brasil, apontando aproximações e distanciamentos teóricos entre suas contribuições. Ao investigar em que medida esta crítica brasileira se constitui como elemento fundador de uma nova literatura infantil e juvenil brasileira a partir da década de 1970, a tese discute como estes autores de crítica literária definiram a literatura infantil e juvenil brasileira como objeto teórico na forma que hoje reconhecemos, demonstrando, assim, o papel desta geração de críticos como criadora mesma da literatura infantil brasileira ao lado de seus autores de ficção, e não mera repetidora. / [en] In the heat of the moment: Brazilian children s literature criticism in the 1970 s/80 s is the title of the present thesis about Brazilian literary criticism studies between 1970 and 1980 about children s literature. The thesis analyzes the key role of the theory authors during those remarkable decades known as the boom of the Brazilian children s literature. Adopting the bibliographical review method, the thesis investigates theory authors from Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and the south part of Brazil, where significant theoretical studies about children s literature were produced back in the 1970 s and 1980 s. The thesis demonstrates how this particular generation of literary critics contributes as founder of the new Brazilian children s literature, side by side with the fiction writers of the same period.

Konsten att undervisa i förskolan : En vetenskaplig essä om undervisning i förskolans kontext

This essay is about the teaching of preschool children. Teaching as a term is recently included in the preschool's curriculum and as it is a loaded concept in the preschool world, it affects the practice of preschool teachers. The purpose of this essay is to try to investigate what the concept of teaching means from the perspective of the preschool. My research questions are as follows: * What does teaching in preschool mean? * How is teaching done in practice at preschool? * What is good teaching and how is it created? To get answers to these questions, I have done participatory observations where I observed two experienced preschool teachers in their work with the children. This text is written in the form of an essay which is also seen as a research method. By starting from self-perceived situations that remain and gnaw at me, and reflect on these from different perspectives, I can develop my understanding and my practice when it comes to teaching in preschool. The essay discusses the introduction of the teaching concept into the world of preschool, which is considered problematic since the concept is often linked to the school's practice and to mediation education. Depending on how understanding of teaching as a concept is done, there are perceived differences affecting how the preschool teacher performs his or her teaching. The essay also discusses how different theories on homing processes and children's influence affect the teacher's teaching. It also appears that different teaching environments can be distinguished in preschool´s activities and these are created by the preschool teacher based on different theories of practice. The kind of teaching environment offered to children affects the cognitive content of the activity thus the quality of the teaching. Quality and measurability are also in the essay discussed in the context of preschool. One point of view that is highlighted is that the introduction of the concept of teaching and a more goal-oriented approach has to do with society's need for quality assurance. From a perspective of quality that is instead characterized by the ability to perform a good judgment, a more conscious understanding of teaching in the preschool becomes important. One of the conclusions is thus that the art of teaching in preschool has practical knowledge to do, which requires experience and ability to reflect in a thoughtful manner.

[pt] O objetivo central da pesquisa reside em trazer à luz desafios da prática docente na creche no que tange ao trabalho com as emoções dos bebês, bem como conhecer pontos de tensão emocional do cotidiano educativo. Nesse contexto, consideramos que as vivências emocionais constituem e impactam o cotidiano da creche, considerando bebês e adultos com quem interagem. Os aspectos emocionais e afetivos de bebês na creche não têm recebido a atenção proporcional ao lugar que ocupa, ainda que as relações afetivas e as práticas educativas sejam essencialmente complementares. Para a compreensão do objeto da pesquisa foi elaborada uma construção teórica com base nos estudos de Freire, Wallon, Palou e Perpiñán. O desenvolvimento e o bem-estar emocionais são destacados nesse contexto e as interações entre adultos e bebês são consideradas, com foco na disponibilidade e no compromisso afetivo do adulto nessa relação no cotidiano da creche. Problematizam-se, ainda, as interações institucionalizadas na creche e a influência da cultura emocional nesse sentido. Como recursos metodológicos, foram realizadas observações no berçário de um Espaço de Desenvolvimento Infantil (EDI) na cidade do Rio de Janeiro e entrevistas abertas com os profissionais da turma observada, para elucidarmos desafios enfrentados e concepções sobre a prática cotidiana na creche no âmbito afetivo. Para a análise qualitativa das entrevistas, foi utilizado o software Atlas TI, instrumento que favoreceu o cruzamento de dados das mesmas, permitindo, assim, a elaboração de códigos. Após a sistematização por afinidade temática desses códigos, foram elaboradas as categorias de análise. Os resultados evidenciaram tensões significativas nos âmbitos institucionais e políticos que impactam diretamente o dia-a-dia afetivo na creche. A pesquisa traz, ainda, aspectos críticos de vulnerabilidade emocional dos profissionais nesse contexto. Aponta graves problemas na rede de relações macropolíticas e micropolíticas que estão prejudicando as experiências emocionais de crianças e adultos na creche. O trabalho espera contribuir para a ampliação de discussões acerca de questões afetivas que julgamos importantes da vida educativa da creche, tanto em relação às crianças, como aos adultos envolvidos. / [en] The main purpose of this research is to establish and bring forward challenges of the teaching practice in the day care center in relation to the work with the emotions of the babies, as well as to know points of emotional tension of the educational daily. The emotional and affectionate aspects of small children s development have not yet received due attention in spite of the fact that affectionate relationships and educational practices are essentially complementary. In order to establish the objective of this research, a theoretical construction was prepared based on the studies of Freire, Wallon, Palou and Perpiñán. The children s emotional development and well-being are emphasized in this context as well as the interaction between the adults and the children, focusing on the availability to form a connection and the ability for affectionate commitment on the part of the adult. Institutionalized interactions at the daycare center and its influence on the emotional culture are also discussed. As methodological resources, we used observations of babies at an Institution for the Development of Children (EDI) and open interviews with EDI professionals of the class observed in order to clarify the challenges they face and the concepts which are used to deal with affectionate relations at the daycare institution. The Atlas TI software was used to assess the quantitative analysis of the interviews, and to allow the crosschecking of data and the creation of codes. After systematizing the codes by similarity of topics the analysis of the categories was prepared. The results showed significant tensions in the institutional and political which impact the affectionate relationships at daycare institutions. The research also shows some critical aspects regarding the emotional vulnerability of the professionals who work at the daycare center. It identifies some serious problems between the macropolicy and micropolicy which undermine the emotional experiences of children and adults. This work aims at contributing to the development of the discussions about the function of affection in the education of children as well as adults engaged in this activity.

Cultures, Formation and pedagogical Practices ? of the postgraduate program in Education at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS). It aimed to understand the implications of the discipline ?Aesthetics and Ludicity in Children?s Literature? on the pedagogical practices of teachers graduated in Portuguese language and literature at the State University of Bahia. Based on this assumption, the locus of this research was the State University of Bahia (UNEB), campus XXII, located in the town of Euclides da Cunha. The research subjects were six teachers graduated from UNEB, who work with students in the initial years in a public middle school. It is a qualitative research study, in which I opted for a semi-structured interview as an instrument for data collection, and I was inspired by life stories. In doing so, I could map conflicts, values, contradictions, and the way that each interviewee sees and signifies his or her reality. It was also possible to investigate the relations, the representations, the interpretations, and what these subjects graduated in Portuguese language and literature think of Children?s Literature in their formation. For this purpose, the research used as a theoretical basis authors such as Arroyo (2011), Coelho (2000), Eco (1994), Faria (2010), Mortatti (2001; 2014), Cerqueira (2007), Lajolo (1983; 1996; 1998; 2007; 2015), Meireles (1984), N?voa (2003), Pimenta e Lima (2004), Zilberman (1987; 2003; 2005; 2014), Rangel (2009), Todorov (2009) among others. The insertion of Children?s Literature as a discipline in teaching courses is an issue that has been timidly discussed in the academic environment. Despite oscillating in the curricula of several higher education institutions, this genre marks strong presence in classrooms. As this theoretical and literary knowledge is given a secondary role in the formation of teachers holding a teaching degree in language and literature, a gap is created in their formation, given that Children?s Literature will be present in their everyday teaching activities. The data analysis showed that only the insertion of the discipline is not the solution to the formation of readers. On the contrary, this formation issue is more closely associated with the teacher?s experience with literary reading than with the study of Children?s Literature during the graduation course in teaching. And here is the key point. In order for teachers to be mediators in reading activities, they need to see themselves as literary readers. / Esta disserta??o est? inserida na linha de pesquisa 2 ? The general purpose of our research was to analyze the potential of creation and literature fruition in the practice of "reading" literary books performed by the voice and hands of children in preschool education. From there, the following specific objectives were outlined: (i) to analyze the potential of a peer reading proposal for the practice of Fruition Reading; (ii) to analyze the potential of a peer reading proposal for the improvement and development of higher psychological functions and their use in relation to literature. The empirical material was produced through videotaped and audio-recorded observations of 42 situations in which the children were invited to "read" to their peers (from their own class and a class of younger children) and qualitatively analyzed, based on the concept of Fruition Reading and on the historical-cultural theory, with regard to mediation and the development of higher psychological functions. The empirical material analysis was carried out on the following axes and sub-axes: importance of mediation, subdivided into mediation by teacher-researcher and among peers; then the importance of the recurrence of the experiences, subdivided into the appropriation of reading practice and, finally, the sub-axis of higher highlighted psychological functions: memory and imagination. Based on these analyzes we could identify the potential of child creation in storytelling from the children's literary book; the children were able to creatively imagine and invent stories, going beyond the simple description of the book's static illustration; they not only built sophisticated storytelling strategies, but also assumed a behavior as "readers"; they encouraged and displayed an interest in and appreciation of the "readings" made by peers; from the "readings", they brought debates on issues they considered important and also felt at ease to express their feelings. It is expected that this research results contribute to the formation of teachers when thinking about reading practice without aiming for strict control of results, which aims to explore the taste of reading for pleasure among preschool children. / Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa do tipo explorat?ria realizada com a turma de alunos da pr?pria pesquisadora, composta por crian?as de 4 a 5 anos de idade e com a turma de crian?as menores, com 2 e 3 anos, da mesma escola, referente ? rela??o destas com a literatura infantil a partir do conceito de Leitura Frui??o. O objetivo geral de nossa pesquisa foi analisar a potencialidade de cria??o e frui??o liter?ria na pr?tica de ?leitura? de livros liter?rios realizados pela voz e m?os de crian?as da Educa??o Infantil. A partir disso, foram delineados os seguintes objetivos espec?ficos: (i) analisar a potencialidade de proposta de leitura entre pares para a pr?tica de Leitura Frui??o; (ii) analisar a potencialidade de proposta de leitura entre pares para o aprimoramento e desenvolvimento de fun??es ps?quicas superiores e de seu uso nas rela??es com a literatura.
