Vår kvartersbiograf Tellus : Ett interiört projekt som förstärker och förvaltar rummets identitet genom bevarandet av olika tidslager för samhörighet, framtid och social hållbarhet.Kotar, Linda January 2023 (has links)
Tellus cinema and café is situated in the heart of Midsommarkransen. It’s been an independent establishment since the 1920’s and is one of very few local cinemas in Stockholm that hasn’t been shut down or taken over by a larger cinema chain. One of Tellus’ many strengths, in comparison to more commercial establishments, is that they can offer a more dynamic and broader repertoire which gives its visitors a sense of experiencing something unique. In this project I would like to redefine the spaces within Tellus, whilst curating the very essence that these rooms possess. I wish to highlight the importance of this cultural establishment and its continued existence as a natural place for people to gather, regardless of their background. I will be studying the cinemas spatial attributes in it’s historical context to see how I can contribute with functional and aesthetical qualities, that diligently enhances the already existing identity of this cinema.

“Faktiskt, jag blev inspirerad av Zlatan.” : En kvalitativ studie om afghanska ensamkommande barns etablering i Sverige, de bidragande faktorerna, ungdomarnas upplevelser och drivkrafter / “Actually, I was inspired by Zlatan.” : A qualitative study on the afghan unaccompanied children´s establishment in Sweden, the contributing factors, children’s experiences and impulsion.Nazari, Murtaza, Husseini, Kasim January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to identify the contributing factors for the establishment of afghan unaccompanied children in Swedish society and thereby contribute to increasing knowledge among professionals who come into contact with this group. A qualitative method has been applied in the study and eight established participants who arrived as unaccompanied children to Sweden have been interviewed through semi-structured interviews. The results have been analysed based on some previous national and international researches on unaccompanied children and also on three theories: system theory, KASAM and Bourdeius' four forms of capital. The study shows that the efforts and support of the authorities have been significant and appreciated by unaccompanied minors in their establishment process. The study also declares that the participation of several professionals, for instance social workers, teachers, housing staff, volunteering adults, friends, gaurdian and contact person have played a major role in the young people’s establishment. Furthermore, the study shows that some central factors such as a residence permit, to have social networks, knowledge of the Swedish language and the extra support from the people involved have been essential for getting into the Swedish society. It is clearly shown in the study that the young peoples’ own ambitions, self motivation, struggles, own strategies, and being purposeful have been essential in their establishment.

Plant Establishment and Soil Microenvironments in Utah Juniper Masticated WoodlandsYoung, Kert R. 05 July 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Juniper (Juniperus spp.) encroachment into sagebrush (Artemisia spp.) and bunchgrass communities has reduced understory plant cover and allowed juniper trees to dominate millions of hectares of semiarid rangelands. Trees are mechanically masticated or shredded to decrease wildfire potential and increase desirable understory plant cover. When trees are masticated after a major increase in tree population density and associated decrease in perennial understory cover, there is a risk that invasive annual grasses will dominate because they are highly responsive to the increased resource availability that commonly follows removal of the main resource user. To determine if tree mastication increases resource availability and subsequently favors invasive annual or perennial grasses, we compared soil temperature, water, and nutrient microenvironmental conditions and seedling establishment and growth. We used the major rangeland weed, cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum L.), to represent invasive annual grasses and Anatone bluebunch wheatgrass (Pseudoroegneria spicata (Pursh) A. Löve), a natural accession of native bluebunch wheatgrass, to represent the perennial grasses of the sagebrush-bunchgrass plant community. These comparisons were made between and within paired-adjacent masticated and untreated areas at three locations in Utah dominated by Utah juniper (Juniperus osteosperma (Torr.) Little). Juniper tree mastication generally increased resource availability with masticated areas having greater soil temperature, soil water availability, and soil N supply rates than untreated areas. Prior to juniper tree mastication litter mounds were not found to be resource islands probably because juniper trees themselves were using subcanopy soil water and nutrients. After juniper tree mastication and elimination of these predominant resource users, litter mounds served as resource islands with greater soil water availability and N supply rates than bare interspaces during the critical time for seedling establishment in spring. Plant growth followed in line with greater resource availability after tree mastication with masticated areas having more productive although fewer invasive-annual and perennial grass seedlings than untreated areas. These results suggest that increases in resource availability and warmer spring temperatures associated with mastication will not necessarily favor invasive annual over perennial grass seedling establishment. Resilience of the sagebrush-bunchgrass community to return to dominance after juniper control will likely be greatly influenced by how much of the sagebrush-bunchgrass community remains following tree control and the intensity of propagule pressure by invasive species. If only invasive annuals remain when the trees are treated then invasive annuals would be expected to dominate the post-treatment plant community especially with their ability to establish inside litter mounds unless they were also controlled and perennial grasses planted at the time of treatment.

Investigation of Rural Swedish high-speed broadband development and possible areas of improvementsBäckner, Daniel, Tadese, Jonathan January 2023 (has links)
This study was conducted at the Department of Information Technology, Uppsala University, focusing on Swedish high-speed broadband development. In 2015, the Swedish government introduced a new broadband strategy aimed at adapting the infrastructure to the digital era and achieving its vision of a fully connected Sweden. However, disparities exist between urban and rural areas regarding broadband coverage, speeds, and conditions for high-speed broadband infrastructure development. The Swedish national broadband plan terminates in 2025 and is about to be updated, presenting the opportunity to improve the strategy. Using grounded theory as a methodology, regional broadband coordinators were interviewed, aiming to identify weaknesses and strengths of the current national broadband strategy in Sweden from their point of view, to propose potential improvements to be incorporated into the subsequent plan.

Multi-scale evaluation of mechanisms associated with the establishment of a model invasive species in Mississippi: Imperata CylindricaHolly, D Christopher 09 August 2008 (has links)
Of concern in this research were the ecological parameters associated with the establishment of a model invasive plant species, Imperata cylindrica, across a scale of ecological organization. Specifically, the study addressed the species’ ability to: differentially respond to abiotic and biotic constraints during seedling establishment, exhibit a novel underground competitive interference mechanism, and alter the decomposition dynamics in newly invaded ecosystems. Finally, the last portion of the research was centered around creating a predictive habitat model that will provide information on the most important variables responsible for creating habitat for this species. The population level seedling study indicated that soil characteristics and light availability play a significant role in seedling establishment. There were large trends in biomass allocation attributable to soil type with seedlings performing best in high nutrient soils representative of the Mississippi Alluvial Valley physiographic region. I. cylindrica seedlings also showed a positive response to increased seedling density during the initial stages of seedling establishment. The community level research examining a hypothesized novel interference mechanism deployed by I. cylindrica showed a significant and robust pattern of I. cylindrica damaging its own belowground tissue more often than that of its surrounding neighbors. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that I. cylindrica gains a competitive advantage by exposing the native plant assemblage to pathogen invasion (via ruptured tissue) as the plant would expose itself to these pathogens (to which it is evolutionarily naive) at much higher volumes. The ecosystem level examination of this globally important invasive species indicated that I. cylindrica invasion into native systems will significantly accelerate ambient rates of decomposition. Furthermore, fungal community composition in invaded areas was drastically altered as well as bacterial community functional activity in relation to several key enzymes responsible for the decomposition of plant tissue which were produced more abundantly in invaded areas. The landscape-scale analyses and modeling work validated decades of anecdotal evidence and indicated that anthropogenic disturbance factors associated with road maintenance and construction (soil disturbance and vegetation removal) are the principal factors responsible for creating habitat suitable for invasion by this species.

Assimilerade minoritetsgrupper i Sverige och den uråldriga identiteten : En etnologisk studie om assyriska/syrianska flyktingars integrering i Sverige under 1970-taletKababe, Gabriella January 2023 (has links)
This essay is about how a minority ethnic group, namely, assyrian/syrian immigrants have, or have not, assimilated and integrated into the swedish society. The ethnic group that came to Sweden relatively early, i.e. during but also earlier than the 1970s, came to Sweden when the county extended a helping hand to many refugees who have fled from war, oppression and economic crises. I investigate whether the ethnic group has been assimilated in Sweden and how they have established themselves in the country and whether or not the integration process has gone easier, or not, because of the groups´s habitus, i.e. life experiences, culture, mentality and habits. The people who have settled in the Middle East for several generations are an indigenous group of people who are known to be one of the first civilized societies and were located in ancient Mesopotamia so called “The assyrian empire”, and have therefore formed an ancient identity. For my last research question, i investigate how the ancient identity has been affected by migration , separation of the ethnic group ,mobility in several countries and how the participants of the study feels about their remaking of the identity. Will the ancient identity disappear, is a discussed question in the analysis.

The dissertation examines the right of establishment of nationals and companies of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in the European Union from the perspective of labour migration. It discusses the relevant EU legislation combining the corresponding German and Bulgarian national regulations over the period 1990-2009. The dissertation presents inter alia different constellations, in which the right of establishment is not used according to the spirit and purpose of the law. It analyzes the legal aspects of such unfair practices as a nontypical form of legal migration from Central and Eastern Europe in the European Union. In the years preceding the EU accession 2004/2007 and in the transitional periods after that the labour markets of the “old” EU Member States were subject of restrictive regulations. That fact provoked the CEE nationals under certain circumstances to use the right of establishment improperly - as an instrument for a legal access to the aforementioned labour markets, as a tool for acquiring a permanent residence status in the host country or even as an attempt to legalize an illegal residence. The study takes into account the relevant EU and German case law and runs complex on three levels - on the level of EU law and on the level of the corresponding Bulgarian and German law.
