Processo de design de visualização de dados: uso de representações gráficas de estrutura de dados como entidades intermediárias de projeto / Data visualization design process : use of graphical representations of data structure as intermediate entities project

Luís Felipe Carli Lucas de Oliveira 21 September 2015 (has links)
In this thesis, we understand design as a creative process of searching for solutions to complex and ill-defined problems. Design is the act of search for good solutions in spaces containing several possible solutions. The design of visualizations is the development of visual metaphors for abstract data, is the transformation of data in interactive graphics. Visualizations are intended to assist the cognitive processes of understanding information and to make more efficient and effective the execution of tasks involving data. The complexity of visualization design is both in the impossibility of reducing their problems as in the extent and range of the data. To address this complexity, the designer performs a reflective conversation with project externalizations. These external representations can act as intermediary entities for the project when they are not a description of the problem or the representation of a solution, but rather an entity that operates between these spaces. The three main activities in the development of visualizations are the understanding, the transformation and the graphical mapping of the data. Data Transformation is an active component in visualization design because many of the decisions taken on the graphic marks depend on the processing and transformation of data. We propose that the use of graphical representations of data structures, when addressed as intermediary entities project, can assist in the process of data visualization design, helping to address its complexity and to produce better solutions for visualization problems. The externalization of the representation of data structures creates a support material for memory and reasoning, which helps in understanding these structures. In addressing these representations as intermediary project entities, you can treat them as materials that support definition, understanding and navigation of the possibilities of a project space. They become representations that help in understanding the possible solutions of visualization and the means to achieve them. In this thesis, we defend this proposition through a theoretical foundation and the development and implementation of a data structure representation technique.

The circulation of knowledge in the continuing education of teachers: an analysis of the PEC-cities in the perspective of comparative studies in education

Luciana Cristina Porfírio 21 June 2012 (has links)
The present paper discusses the circulation of knowledge about the professionalization of a program of continuous training of teachers in early grades, the PEC-cities, developed in the State of São Paulo, at the initiative of the Ministry of Education, in partnership with some universities in the period from 2006 to 2008. The research adopted the latest theoretical perspectives of comparative studies in education, which can be classified into two different investigative traditions: the first, represented by some authors linked to Stanford University, among which are Meyer and Ramirez, commonly mentioned in works like \"neo-institutionalists\", and the second is represented by modelarmente Schriewer by some tendency classified as hermeneutics. Through the study of speech and the devices in this didactic material produced under the program to be distributed to the participant teachers, it was possible to identify a set of authors, texts and concepts that have been circulating widely in the international context of educational reforms undertaken since 1990. In the present analysis of the material, it was noticed prescriptions around the idea of \"reflective practitioner\", which happens to be the theme of the reconstruction of professional identity of teachers in this period, with emphasis on the practical knowledge and ownership of the core ideas that set of authors and texts that circulate internationally. In this analysis, the concepts of externalization (Schriewer) and \"foreign native\" (Popkewitz) were important theoretical tools to compose an analytical framework of the discourse produced in the PEC-Cities.

Ferraz, Janaynna de Moura 27 February 2015 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / Knowledge management becomes paramount to the survival of contemporary organizations now committed to converge the collective knowledge for a common purpose to the group. Consecrated literature mentions that among the faces of knowledge management, there is the theory of creation of corporate knowledge, presented in spiral form in a process that culminates in four possible modes of knowledge conversion. Although it declared the relevance of knowledge creation today, one can see that little is understand how it occurs in the practice. Thus, this research aimed to investigate the role of externalization, which is a form of knowledge conversion, given its relevance in the process of organizational knowledge creation and it will investigate the agencies of advertising, classified as knowledge-intensive business services. The search strategy was a single case study with six little cases (advertising agencies), the unit of analysis was the very phenomenon resulting from the spiral path of corporate knowledge. The approach was descriptive and exploratory and research went into a sequence of two phases. The first phase was a qualitative in a descriptive approach. Data were collected through an online questionnaire answered by employees of Sergipe advertising agencies and in parallel through an e-focus group with the owners / managers of these organizations. The second phase, qualitative and exploratory, used the data collection of the first phase added to your specification, investigating new perspectives of the problem through the crossing of evidence to the theory of knowledge creation. Data were treated with simple descriptive statistics and content analysis whose classification was categorized in terms. Among the main results, it is emphasized that externalization, in addition to calls for the theory, not only has an important role, beyond, its role is decisive, so that it is believed that the absence of externalization implies the absence of management knowledge in organizational practice. This research intends that this research will contribute to the understanding of knowledge management, offering new horizons for the theory and practice in organizations.

Pastoral participation in a school context: transforming trauma

Geldenhuys, Marina, M.Th. 30 November 2007 (has links)
The research started in a school context where the teachers were severely affected by the changes in and closing of their school. In my qualitatively based research project, I embarked with the research participants on a pastoral, narrative- and appreciative inquiry approach which assist the teachers to deal more efficiently with the effects of the changes they experienced. By sharing and reflecting on their stories, a climate that's conducive to their well-being was constructed. I describe how my participatory action research invited the teachers to be active research participants, who are responsible for their own construction of richer or alternative meanings in their lives. / Practical theology / M. Cognitive offloading: O vlivu nových médií na kognitivní schopnosti člověka / Cognitive offloading: About the impact of new media on human cognitivity

Mikšovská, Markéta January 2020 (has links)
(in English) The subject of this master thesis is a cognitive offloading, sometimes also called cognitive outsourcing, meaning the impact of new media on human cognitive abilities. This work describes the evolution of the theoretical concept of cognitive offloading, types of cognitive offloading and it's functioning in today's society. Following Daniel Wegner's work, it describes basic concepts such as group mind and transactive memory and it focuses on a specific area of cognitive offloading - the impact of mobile photography on human memory. The thesis summarizes results of existing studies in this field and presents the results of a replicated pilot study conducted with the students of Czech high school. The aim of this study was to find out if - and to what extent - does smartphones impact one's memory and cognitive abilities in daily life. The conclusion analyzes the limits of this work and outlines further research possibilities in this field.

Navigating the stormy waters of legitimacy : An analysis of Operation Sophia and EU-Libya relations

Quick, Hanna January 2022 (has links)
The European Union has throughout recent decades launched multiple maritime operations with the objective to counter irregular migration across the Mediterranean Sea. In 2015, a new Common Security and Defence Policy-mission was launched through agreements between the Union and the Libyan state. Against the civil society’s heavy criticism of Operation Sophia, this thesis is interested in how the mission was legitimatized, exploring how legitimacy was thought about in two diverging EU-institutions: the Council of the European Union and the European External Action Service. The thesis understand legitimacy as a concept contingent on institutionalized norms that transpire within demarcated ‘communities’, building on the Weberian notion of multiple legitimacies. And in line with the theoretical framework of Bernstein, this thesis exclusively examine how norms of sovereignty, economy and democracy influence criteria’s of legitimacy. The methodological approach constitutes a discourse analysis of Operation Sophia’s policy framework, building on Bacchi’s WPR-methodology. The thesis demonstrate that the Council of the European Union primarily relied on norms connected to public international law while the European External Action Service rather established legitimacy through norms of democracy.

'Welcome', But Not Here : Unpacking the Extraterritorial Asylum Policies of the United Kingdom and Denmark

Sendiong, Ma Hyacinth Ann January 2023 (has links)
The right to seek asylum is an integral part of the international protection of refugees. Yet this right is continuously undermined by state-made obstacles such as externalization practices. In the last two years, Denmark and the UK adopted new asylum policies. These policies are emblematic of externalization. Following the historic 2015 Refugee Crisis, states have increased their efforts to limit the numbers of asylum seekers arriving on their territories. Some, like Denmark and the UK adopted extreme efforts to control migration. Drawing from Bacchi’s Policy as Discourse (2000) framework, this study demonstrates that problematizations of asylum seekers and refugees are inherent in the legitimization of restrictive policy changes in Denmark and the UK. It further argues that legitimization of the necessity of restrictive policy changes reinforces the negative perceptions towards asylum seekers, and refugees.

Sidenqvist, Johannes January 2024 (has links)
This study has aimed to contribute to an increased understanding of how drum and percussion teachers describe how their students internalize and externalize knowledge in various ways. The study examines teachers on Swedish leisure time school of the arts. The essay is based on a sociocultural perspective and utilizes the concept of internalization and externalization to discuss learning. The empirical material has been gathered through semi-structured interviews with four teachers. The results indicate that students various ways of internalizing knowledge are manifested through the framing of lessons. The teachers use audio, visual and kinesthetic tools to frame and create lesson elements that enable students to internalize knowledge in an individually tailored manner. The fact that the school is not based on grades is an asset for the teachers, as the framing of lessons can be tailored to specific students way of internalizing, rather than striving for knowledge that the student should achieve based on age. The inclusion of multiple percussion instruments in the courses enables the teachers to promote students diverse ways of internalizing knowledge. By using various instruments as tools for demonstration, the teachers tailor the instruction to each individual students way of internalizing. Students ways of internalizing can change when students have new musical experiences. Students externalization of knowledge is made visible through the results of completed homework and performances. The teachers can also witness smaller steps in students development being continuously externalized as they meet their students every week. The results can contribute to an increased understanding of drum and percussion students' internalization and externalization of knowledge in Swedish leisure time school of the arts.
