Prestes, Rafael Cavalli January 2011 (has links)
Assistive technology is the currently used term to define a wide range of services and products aimed at disabled persons. Design for assistive technology devices is seen in two different technology pathways, with serial and personalized products. These devices seek to optimize impaired body functions and, thus, reinsert these persons in various social activities. This study aims to contribute to the construction of new technology ruts for the production of personalized seats and backrests for wheelchairs. The methodology includes the application of the concepts of three-dimensional digitalization, CNC Machining, and thermography in order to create and analyze personalized seats and backrests produced from individualized anthropometric data. The results obtained show that the proposed models are valid, because they permit a wider distribution of bodily weight and temperature through the outlines inserted in the equipments according to each person’s anatomy. The greatest contribution of this study is its simplicity of production and the low cost of materials used in the research, which may benefit numerous wheelchair users who present unique anatomies, reducing the risks of tissue lesions by enlarging the area of contact, which results in a more effective distribution of bodily temperature and weight.

Bruno, Fernando Batista January 2011 (has links)
Design courses require a wide range of knowledge for its realization. To meet the needs of the didactic and pedagogical teaching of industrial design, the teaching-learning process must have educational material able to provide the student with all the information necessary for their development. The use of learning objects can facilitate the process of production and delivery of educational materials and their reuse and recontextualization in different scenarios. Such process is due to the current development stage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), which allow easy access to products and services related to them. ICTs, combined with instructional design theories, lead to the emergence of new generations of distance learning, which add educational content to web based services. From this combination rises a hybrid mode of education, which combines tools for face-toface and distance learning (Blended Learning). This research proposes a tool for the development and provision of generative learning objects integrated into HyperCAL online (a web-based system of communication and content distribution, developed and used by the Departamento de Design e Expressão Gráfica da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - DEG-UFRGS). Thus, these objects can be reused and recontextualized for the development of educational materials. In this tool, the generative learning objects are structures built on XML, based on the learning design concept, running as an interaction layer between the other types of learning object, organizing the content to be available. For the validation of the tool set, a prototype unit of learning of industrial design was proposed. This prototype was based on a learning design made upon pedagogical patterns raised in the theoretical foundation of this work. These patterns were analyzed, selected and arranged in a pattern language, built by a group of teachers who work in the disciplines of the DEG-UFRGS linked to the industrial design activity, through the card sorting and focus group techniques.

Interferências digitais nos modelos tridimensionais do design de automóveis / Digital interferences in car design tridimensional models

Silvio Kimura 24 April 2013 (has links)
The ability to offer new products to the market is the key to success in auto industry. New vehicles are developed with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) programs, resulting in great development time reduction where digital models replaced traditional clay models. By researching historical facts about the auto industry production in early 20th century, this research focused on building a background where the design processes were developed, including relevant biography and facts about the people who created the modern car. We highlighted the creation of GM Art & Color Section due to its relation with the first use of car body models modeled with industrial clay. To find possible interferences caused by the use of digital modeling within the creative phase of car design processes, we described and analyzed the car design process workflow. Furthermore, we analyzed how digital tools can influence new designers education, looked for future CAD/CAS software interface development and an overview on the main high-end software for car design.

Compressible Waste Bin System for Public Environment : Design with a User-Centred Approach

Nilsson, Joel January 2018 (has links)
We consume more and more which also have led to an increase in the waste we most handle. In public environment, common solution have been to increase the size of the waste bin, but that’s not always an option. To big and it may interfere with the environment it placed in. Another approach is to compress the disposed waste and so increase the waste bins capacity without increasing the volume of the wastebin itself. BigBelly is one product which have embraced this apprach. It is a solar driven compressing waste bin commonly seen in big cities around the world. The problem is that some miner municipalities and private companies still are in need of a solution but don’t have the resources to obtain BigBellys or other similar solutions. One way to approach this market is to develop a waste bin without the electric usually expensive components and develop a less expensive compressible waste bin that’s still an effective choice. To understand the needs, both of those who dispose of waste publicly but also those who manage the waste bins, have interviews, observations, questionaries and focus groups been used to gather valuable data. This data have then been remade in terms of user needs and ranked according to importance by the users themselves and the project manager. Some highly ranked needs are: the waste bin is steady and robust, the waste bin can only be opened by those who handle/empty the waste bins, a manual compression can be performed by those who throw the waste, and a manual compression can be performed without any major effort.  By the method Design by analogies and a workshop held at Luleå University of Technology was ideas created. The three concepts with the highest potential were selected via Pugh’s selection matrix and tested according to efficiency and effectivity. The concept with the highest result was developed in Simens NX a CAD-program and then used as a template for the construction of a functional prototype. By testing and analyzing the prototype a product specification could be created. The final result, which is based on the prototype and the specification, consist of two rendered waste bins, developed towards compression in public environment. The compactor is based on a scissor-lift design modified to expand and so compress waste by gravity and contract by the energy of the users. Both models are estimated to enhance the capacity of 170-200% compared with a waste bin none-compressing waste bin of the same size. Model 1 requires a force of 196N from the user during use while model 2 requires force of 123N.

Kohoutová, Tereza January 2021 (has links)
Fashion law Abstract The main task of this thesis is to acquaint the reader with a relatively new cross-sectional field of law, which is the law of the fashion industry or fashion law. Although it is already established in the Anglo-American legal culture, in our country is still looking for its path. In addition to focusing directly on this field of law, the thesis also deals with certain aspects of intellectual property law that are associated with fashion law, and in the end, the various influences of fashion industry are briefly mentioned. The first chapter focuses on the definition of the concept of fashion law, how this field of law developed and what is its position in the United States, where it is taught at universities and was given some importance. The situation in the Czech Republic is also evaluated, where its development is mainly taken care of by the Institute of Fashion Industry Law. In order to provide a sufficient framework for other topics, the second chapter is devoted to the conceptual and legal specification of design and its protection. We will also get acquainted with its types with focus on fashion design. The third chapter is already fully focused on the first type of design protection, namely copyright. For the sake of completeness, this chapter discusses both the historical...
