Sobragi, Cyro Gudolle January 2012 (has links)
Cloud computing is considered a new computational paradigm for many researchers and practitioners. The adoption of this technology has been arisen in the last few years by the organizations, nevertheless it is still emerging in Brazil. As considered an innovative technology, cloud computing adoption has been gathering more attention in the academy. However, this subject in the Information Systems literature still has little attention, although increasing. This dissertation intends to analyze the adoption factors of cloud computing and establish associations between technology adoption factors and theory elements. Initially were identified in the literature of economic and organizational theories some elements related to the Diffusion of Innovations Theory, Transaction Cost Economics and Resource Dependency Theory. Then, the technology adoption factors were related directly to the cloud computing features. Consequently the theory elements were associated with the technology adoption factors. This research was exploratory, through multiple case studies in three companies that already adopted cloud computing. The data collection was made by interviews and documents analysis. To analyze the seven interviews this research used the content analysis method, using the software MAXQDA10. Thereafter, was conducted an association between the theory elements and the technology adoption factors. As main results, were confirmed as adoption factors in cloud computing: reliability, scalability, security, privacy and economy. This study also contributes for fill in a lack in the literature, as well as offer information for future quantitative researches about the technology adoption factors.

Santos, Carlos Roberto dos 13 March 2006 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-03-15T19:26:33Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Carlos Roberto dos Santos.pdf: 1032675 bytes, checksum: af3323bf1da0598581ce20cc7f1087c7 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-03-13 / The adoption of the innovation in the organizations frequently occurs in two stages: at a first moment there is a decision of the organization in adopting the innovation which is called primary adoption, followed by one real implementation that includes individual adoption by the users, and corresponds to the secondary adoption (LEONARD BARTON; DESCHAMPS, 1998; GALLIVAN, 2001). The current study explores the traditional models applicability of innovation adoption and diffusion to identify the factors that influence the secondary adoption of the Project Management Methodology in Technology Information, in the organizations. Beyond this main objective, the research seeks to identify if these factors behave in a different way for the users who have experience in its use, being in some of the assimilation stages (COOPER and ZMUD, 1990) and the potential adopters. The study model, based on the Theory of the Planned behavior (AJZEN, 1991), on the Theory of Diffusion of the Innovation (ROGERS, 1995) and on the model of Secondary Adoption of the Innovation (GALLIVAN, 2001), incorporates and adapts relative constructs to the Attitude, Subjective Norm and Perceived Control. The data of the research were obtained from a sample of project managers in Technology Information. The model is analyzed using structural equation modeling, thus verifying the inter-relation among the constructs. The results of the research revealed that the Attitude, Administrative Subjective Norm and Team Subjective Norm influence significantly for users and potential adopters. As for the control dimensions, only the Organization Facilities construct was significant for the group of potential adopters. The research also confirmed the existence of differences in the factors that influence the adoption of the Project Management Methodology for users and potential adopters. The Attitude and Administrative Subjective Norm are more intense factors for the users, while the Team Subjective Norm, Individual Facilities and Organization Facilities are more significant for the potential adopters. The implications of the study are discussed and suggestions for future research are presented.

Mobile Payment Use and Mobile Payment Transactions by Older Adults : A Qualitative Study

Kolaki, Maria January 2017 (has links)
The research outlined in this thesis focuses on the effects of implementation and use of mobile payments as experienced by older adults aged 55-75, as qualitatively examined through research interviewees (hereafter participants of this study) made up of individuals with varying cultural and technological backgrounds, who are acclimated to Greece’s culture and have lived within the country for at least a decade. Their own perception and reception of the practice allows for a more comprehensive look into the practical application of the technology within the country. No empirical studies are available on the aforementioned topic, despite the high importance and need for such study. Therefore, this research is carried out through a literature review. It then analyzes two models namely technology acceptance model (TAM) and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model. It applies a phenomenological research method and provides us with a more concise, contextualized background into the widespread application of m-payment and m-commerce within the country. This research contributes new knowledge to m-payment and m-commerce through theoretical and empirical research and benefits the interpretation of a recently emerging phenomenon. The research results are useful to various groups associated with mpayments and m-commerce. Future research directions concerning this phenomenon involve the reception and enhancement of m-payment methods by older adults.

Setting Up Shop in the Digital Bazaar – Bangladeshi Blue-Collar Service-Providers’ Adoption of a Business Aggregator

Shahid, Shantana January 2020 (has links)
This essay explores the early experiences of Bangladeshi blue-collar service workers in digitalising their livelihoods. It is a qualitative study that surveys and interviews service-providers in Dhaka who use the business aggregator platform Sheba.xyz, an online service marketplace, and seeks to understand what brought these self-employed micro-entrepreneurs, previously outside the digital economy, to adopt an ICT-enabled solution. The study is guided by Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) theory, one of the historically dominant paradigms in the field of communication for development (C4D). The overarching research question is, “Why did blue-collar service-providers in Dhaka adopt and use a digital business aggregator platform?” The aim is to explore what motivated/discouraged and enabled/hindered innovation adoption among a group of users previously marginalised from digital and financial inclusion. The findings suggest that adoption of Sheba.xyz among service-providers was not driven so much by a desire to digitalise one’s business per se, and as a means of mitigating a previous inability to do so. Rather, the factors that emerge from the qualitative data are other perceived relative advantages of the solution – of increase in customers, income, and opportunity. Survey respondents and interviewees also displayed strong affiliation with, and trust in, the platform provider; an alertness for fair treatment; and a drive to prosper, suggesting that they embraced a comprehensive concept and altered life situation where belonging, respect, and self-fulfilment matters, rather than narrowly adopted a new mobile application.

An "economies of worth" perspective of a management innovation adoption process in an organization / Une perspective des "économies de la grandeur" d'un processus d'adoption d'une innovation managériale dans une organisation

Nguyen, Manh-Hung 03 December 2018 (has links)
Since the first industrial revolution, “innovation” has been mentioned in numerous occasions. This term has often been associated with "technological innovation". Recently, a new type of innovation, management innovation, and its adoption process have been at the heart of attention. In numerous studies on organizational innovations, technological innovation is still a dominant subject and there is a need to go outside the limit of technological innovation studies. Diversified topics on management innovations have been studied, showing a particular attraction of this subject for scholars in this field. Management innovation processes have carefully been explored, in particular the generation, diffusion and adoption processes (with or without adaptation). However, the studies on management innovation adoption seem to be neglected. In addition, the mutual adaptation between management innovations and adopting organizations also need to be studied. In a more concrete way, it is essential to study the tension that can appear when introducing a management innovation into an organization as well as the mutual pressure between them during the adoption process. Nonetheless, the empirical studies on this issue still remain deficient. Consequently, we focus on the adoption processes of a management innovation and the tensions between this management innovation and its adopting organization during the adoption process. Every management innovation comprises a management philosophy while every organization pertains to certain representations. Consequently, the potential tensions during the adoption process can be viewed as the imperfect harmony between the management innovation philosophy and the dominant representations within the “host” organization. Hence, three important sub-questions emerge: (1) how to identify the management innovation philosophy and the organizational representations, (2) how to explain their agreements/disagreements of values during the adoption process and (3) how to avoid potential disagreements that can interrupt this process.

Critical Factors in Early Stages of Large-Scale Agile Transformations / Kritiska faktorer i tidigt stadie av storskaliga agila transformationer

Djursén, William, Herlenius, Saga January 2022 (has links)
In recent years, product development organizations have started adopting agile methods beyond its intended application on software development as part of organizational aspirations to increase market responsiveness and decrease lead times. Such extended adoption of agile is now commonly known as large-scale agile transformation, yet case studies and research-based guidance on implementing agile at scale is scarce. Available literature lists several general challenges and success factors surfacing during the full course of transformation. This thesis aims to complement existing research through investigating critical factors of a large-scale transformation specifically at early stages of agile adoption. This is performed by applying Laanti's agile maturity model and Roger's innovation adoption theory to a case study of a large fintech company who recently initiated their transformation. Although many of the general challenges discovered were proven to appear even at early stages of adoption, we found four factors particularly important for early-stage adoption of large-scale agile, namely 1) having agile support tailored to team maturity, 2) involving project managers in agile coaching, 3) breaking down silo barriers and 4) developing agile customer contracts. In addition to the critical factors found, we propose an extension to Roger's adoption model in cases when external stakeholders are believed to be affected by the adoption of an innovation. Further studies on early-stage adoption of large-scale agile are required to confirm our conclusions.

Zero Trust Adoption : Qualitative research on factors affecting the adoption of Zero Trust

Hansen, Jennifer January 2022 (has links)
The following qualitative research explores the adoption of Zero Trust in organisations from an organisational and user acceptance perspective. From an organisational perspective, the research highlights essential aspects such as testing the Zero Trust architecture in a pre-adoption phase, involving top management in the planning phase, communicating in a non-technical language, and making end-users feel a personal connection to IS security. The research highlights the importance of balancing the ease of use with security, evaluating the end-user's technical maturity, and carrying out evaluations from a user acceptance perspective. To gather valuable empirical data, the researcher has conducted semi-structured interviews with highly competent respondents within the field of Zero Trust. Most of the literature available today within Zero Trust focuses on technical aspects, and this research is a unique and vital contribution to the limited available research.

Challenges of AI Adoption in SMEs / Utmaningar i samband med införandet av AI i små och medelstora företag

Roa Baez, Julian, Igbekele, Remi Leon January 2021 (has links)
This thesis paper discusses the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in the context of small and medium-sized companies. AI is a disruptive innovation currently leading a technological transition in many industries. Academic literature on its adoption in the context of SMEs is limited. This thesis aims to answer the research question "W hat are the main challenges of AI adoption in SMEs?". The authors use a qualitative research approach, interviewing 18 representatives of different Swedish organizations to answer the question. The authors identify six main challenge categories regarding AI adoption in SMEs via a coding process, which are Change Management, Education, Data, Hiring, Project Structuring, and External Help. The authors show similarities to challenges described in the existing literature on AI adoption. However, Hiring and External Help impact AI adoption in SMEs more significantly than in larger corporations, while Change Management can be easier for smaller organizations. Furthermore, a framework that helps to prioritize the above challenges is introduced. In comparison with literature on the adoption of other (non-AI) IT innovations in SMEs, some challenges are more salient to AI: the unclear definition of the term, false expectations as a result of the AI Hype, the uncertainty of project outcome, and the prerequisite of a previous digitalization process. The authors recommend further research in other contexts. Författarna rekommenderar ytterligare forskning i andra sammanhang.

Diffusion of Sustainable Innovations : A Case Study of Optical Gas Imaging

Blinke, Jacob January 2020 (has links)
During the last two decades, innovations that contribute to sustainable development has received increasing attention in the markets and academia. The diffusion of sustainable innovations is a key element in society’s transformation toward a greener and more sustainable economy. Within industries that utilize industrial gases in their operations, there are thousands of fugitive emission sources that puts strain on the safety of the plant and the personnel. As most gases are combustible and hazardous to humans and the environment, these companies must have effective leak detection and repair (LDAR) programs. In recent years, a new gas detection technology called Optical Gas Imaging have emerged which can identify gas compounds safer and more efficient compared to older leak detection technologies. However, the rate of diffusion of the innovation has been slow and limited to oil and gas industries, even though many other industries such as steel, paper and pulp and chemical industries utilize gases as well. As such, this research has aimed to identify factors that influence the adoption of sustainable innovations within gas-utilizing industries. The qualitative data was gathered through semi structured interviews with gas-utilizing companies in Sweden and analyzed with interpretive methods. The results show that regulatory factors are a strong driver for the diffusion of sustainable innovations while characteristics of price, availability and type of innovationdecision works as barriers. The generated knowledge may contribute on how innovators of a sustainable innovations can overcome these barriers and improve the rate of adoption of sustainable innovations.

Decision on Adopting Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in Enterprises

Chen, Chiao-Pei Unknown Date (has links)
隨著競爭環境日漸嚴苛,顧客需求日趨多元,企業需要有更有效率的方式來管理與顧客間的關係,顧客關係管理CRM(Customer Relationship Management, CRM)成為企業關心的熱門議題。 / To cope with the current increase in both competition and customer requirements, enterprises need more efficient methods to manage their relationships with customers. Previous researches focused mainly on the factors affecting the decision whether or not to adopt the CRM system. As the importance of CRM pertaining to management of relationships with customers has been recognized, meanwhile, with regard to implementation of the extensive software which involves investment of massive human resources, capital, and time, many critical decisions still need to be concerned. This research aims at extracting relevant factors affecting the adoption process and proposes a convincing framework verified by an empirical case study. The research in this study is based on the Innovation Diffusion Model of Rogers (1983) and divides factors affecting the CRM adoption process into knowledge and persuasion stages with environmental and organizational factors in the knowledge stage, and perceived characteristics of innovation in the persuasion stage, while system suppliers and consulting firms as joint associates. Environmental factors include competition intensity, demand uncertainty, and industry changing speed. Organizational factors consist of size, structure, and managerial attitude. Perceived characteristics of innovation are composed of compatibility and system characteristics. Data collection, data storage, data mining, and data visualization work as independent variables. Six companies in securities, life insurance, cellular telephone system, electronics and computers, and the Internet service provider industry were selected as study cases. However, the research frame was revised after investigation. In the knowledge stage, complexity is extracted and integrated with product attribute, customer base, and corporation dependence on sales representative to form one integrated factor called business. Moreover, the independent variables are amended to be more extensive, including adoption activeness, constructing section, and constructing manner. The research shows that environmental and organizational factors affect adoption activeness and priority; and that the business factor influences adoption activeness, adoption priority, as well as outsourcing decisions. Project management and managerial participation representing a CRM constructing section are affected by perceived characteristics of the innovation. Through the integration of theory and empirical data , this research hopes to provide direction for examining the CRM adoption process and organization design, so as to facilitate the fulfilling of the adoption objective.
