Internaliserad misogyni och återkomsten av ”Jag är inte som alla andra tjejer” : Hur könsnormer uttrycks på sociala medier med koppling till skolans sex- och samlevnadsundervisning inom ämnet samhällskunskap / Internalized misogyny and the return of "I'm not like the other girls" : How gender norms are portrayed on social media based on the school's sex education in the subject social studies

Svensson Ek, Fina January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this research paper is to analyze how gender norms in the form of internalized misogyny are portrayed on social media based on the school´s sex education in the subject social studies.  The methodological framework of this research is based on a qualitative and hermeneutist method. I analyzed how gender norms are portrayed on the social media platform TikTok. I specifically have analyzed the TikTok trend “introduce yourself as why girls hate you”. I have also analyzed Skolverket`s material for sex education. I have analyzed this material from a feminist perspective based on Judith Butler and Yvonne Hirdman’s theories as well as a feminist and gender pedagogical perspective.  Based on the finding of this inquiry it can be concluded that the TikTok trend “introduce yourself as why girls hate you” can be understood from a feminist perspective as an expression of internalized misogyny through the way women portray and define gender in the videos. The definition of how to be a woman in the "right way" differs. Unlike previous research, heterosexual interaction was emphasized over homosocial friendship. The use of the TikTok trend in teaching is therefore a way to highlight gender norms without putting emphasis on differences between the sexes.

RELATIONEN MELLAN SJÄLVBILD OCH INTERNALISERAD OCH EXTERNALISERAD PROBLEMATIK I EN KLINISK UNGDOMSPOPULATION

Nilsson, Martina, Stenhamre, Ulrika January 2018 (has links)
This study examined the relationship between positive and negative self-concept and four aspects of internalized and externalized problem behaviors, through a cross-sectional design. The self-assessment instruments Structural Analysis of Social Behavior and Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire were completed by a clinical group consisting of 327 adolescents aged 12-19 years. Data were analyzed through path analysis. The results showed a positive relationship between negative self-concept and both behavioral and emotional problems, as well as a negative relationship between positive self-concept and emotional problems. In conclusion, the result of this study suggests that a clinical youth group has a similar relationship between self-concept and problem behavior as do young people without psychopathological problems; where a negative self-concept is associated with more- and a positive self-concept is associated with less problem behaviors. The study's results accentuate the importance of including both interpersonal and intrapersonal aspects when problem behavior is investigated and treated.

: Homosexuella personers upplevelser och hantering av minoritetsstress i Sverige / ”Homosexuality is something awful and because of that I am completely worthless.” : The Experiences and Coping of Minority Stress, among Lesbians and Gays in Sweden

Malinowska, Marcelina, Stolt, David January 2019 (has links)

Are we ready for a prolonged working life? : A qualitative study on the impact of internalized ageism on self-image and retirement plans.

Tyssling, Malena, Lindberg, Anna January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to explore the importance of internalized age stereotypes and age norms for older workers' self-image. By examining the use of norms and stereotypes when they talk about their working life and plan for life after retirement, the study aims to expand the understanding of self-image formation and the influence of internalized age stereotypes on retirement planning. The study was conducted using a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews. The theoretical framework guiding this research incorporates social identity theory and self-categorization theory to understand how self-image takes shape throughsocial interactions and societal structures. Concepts from social psychology underscore the importance of self-reflection in identity formation. Stereotype embodiment theory specifically focuses on the impact of ageist stereotypes. The results of our study show that internalized ageist beliefs influence the participants’ thoughts, feelings and behaviors. These beliefs affect their self-image and interpretation of the world around them. Self-image is continuously formed throughout life, not only at work or during leisure time. Our theoretical standpoint is confirmed by the empirical data, showing that how individuals perceive themselves is significantly influenced by how they are perceived by others. However, this varies with their basic self-esteem. The less significance age has for personal identity, the lower the susceptibility to societal ageist attitudes. Our study shows that age identification is stronger among women. The influence on an age-related self-image on retirement plans is relatively low. The plans are based on what the participants want and dream about – choices dictated by their personality, interests, feelings and values. Age is a part of the whole, without being decisive for post-retirement plans. However, the age-related aspect can be seen in the fact that several participants experience stress about not being able to accomplish everything they desire in life. This stress does not motivate continued work but rather encourages them to retire as soon as they have the opportunity from both a work and economic perspective.
