Nečitelní cizinci / Hard to make out Foreigners

VERNEROVÁ, Eva January 2007 (has links)
The thesis called ``Illegible foreigners{\crqq} deals with the way Českobudějovické listy (renamed Českobudějovický deník in October 2006) presents minorities living in the Czech Republic. The thesis focuses on Romanies, the most frequently mentioned minority in this south Bohemia daily. The thesis consists of two parts. The first part outlines important theo-retical concepts that should explain the current situation of minorities as pre-sented in the south Bohemia daily. The main indicator of the relationship be-tween the media, minorities and the majority society are stereotypes, which can be positive or negative. The thesis lists the main stereotypical attributes as-cribed to minorities by the media and discusses the degree of objectivity in articles that mention minorities. The second part of the thesis uses specific arti-cles on minorities published from 1 January 2004 to 31 July 2006 in the south Bohemia daily to document whether minorities are depicted in a negative or positive way and whether the articles (journalists) are objective.

MLS, Martin January 2010 (has links)
The subject of the theses is sports journalism, the part of Czech media sphere slightly neglected by academics. The main focus is on Czech sports journalists (without consideration of their specific professional interest) and their social role. This paper has sociological character and its goal is to compare Czech sports journalism in two periods - during the period of ´propagandistic-promotion role´ of media defined politically (primarily by Communist Party) before 1989 and during contemporary period of commercialized and entertaining media - and to compare these two periods. The text can be understood as a contribution to the role of media within the framework of out-of-school education. Theses also contains the analysis of sports journalists role before 1989 and today: only aspect of sports journalists business which did not changed during last twenty years is the essence of their profession. One of two main methods used in this paper is qualitative analysis of questionnaires collected in an email survey: we could compare working conditions and profession opinions of five regional sports journalists. The text also offers professional portraits of respondents which are based the interpretation of their answers. These answers were interpreted by the author from the comparative perspective. Findings and conclusions were used for developing the typology of sports journalists which contains five genuine types of sports journalists. All types are described from several angles and to each type one respondent of our research is allocated as a representative. At the end, author offers critical evaluation of the typology and possibilities of future work on the topic of sports journalism.

The Discourses of Freelance Journalists on the Work: communication, mediations and reception

Rafael do Nascimento Grohmann 19 June 2012 (has links)
This dissertation seeks to understand the discourses on the work of freelance journalists in São Paulo city from three moments or genres of discourse: quantitative questionnaire, interviews and focus groups. The theoretical framework puts the binomial Communication and Work as constitutive of human activity, and involves Ergology, Historical Materialism and Changes on the World of Work, Discourse Analysis and Reception Studies, together with all the perspectives on the question of the subject, that is social and individual. The discourses of the analysis reveal, in all instances, some adjustment to the new spirit of capitalism and its requirements. They are more individualistic and hardly uttering collective issues; those engaged are excepctions. Considering the world of worlk as central mediation of communication, the research provides a study of reception with the subjects studied, between the discourses on the work. The reception is revelead as the moment par excellence to talk about work. When talking abour the others work, the journalists are confronted with their own work and reveal, in his discourse, values and dramas of real activity of communication and work.

Soraia Herrador Costa Lima 08 April 2008 (has links)
Politics and Journalism are two fundamental things at Julio de Mesquita Filho\'s personal and professional life. Because of that, it wasn\'t uneasy to find this two issues reflected inside O Estado de S. Paulo\'s pages, since this journalist wanted to use, especially at the opinion section of the newspaper, as a particular place to do his verifications about subjects that were everyday in the São Paulo and Brazil\'s society, in the 30\'s. In the course of Constitutionalist Movement in 1932, this characteristic became more obvious, and this could be known at the news and editorials of this media. As one of the civilian leaders at the conflict and in consequence of his leadership inside the editorial staff, his speech was noticed and answered by paulistas and journalists, making the dialogical relation necessary needed to preserve and to spread the movement. Thus, this paper work, using The Linguistics Enunciation Theory, tries to identify recurring enunciations in the Julio de Mesquita Filho\'s speech, during the Revolution of 32, analyzing the journalistic approach of the conflict, made by O Estado de S. Paulo.

Pluralité et extension du journalisme de voyage : nouveaux acteurs, nouvelles pratiques, nouvelles attentes / Plurality and extensions of travel journalism : new actors, new pratices, new expectations

Pirolli, Bryan 14 December 2015 (has links)
The travel industry has evolved over the past decades, including social and technological changes that allow more people than ever to cross the globe. Travel journalists working for established media are no longer the sole gatekeepers of information relating to a destination. New authors, including bloggers and commentators on recommendation sites, have become major sources of information for travelers. This project seeks to explore both the practices of these online authors as well as the reception and interpretations of their work by travelers. Qualitative interviews with a sample of journalists, bloggers, and forum contributors in Paris help shed light on how these individuals adhere to notions considered “journalistic” as defined by traditional manuals. The goal is to explore and elaborate a definition of the travel journalist as opposed to non-professional authors. Secondly, through interviews with travelers who plan their trips online, the research aims to understand how consumers prioritize and value the content they find on the internet, especially looking at motivations linked to the idea of discovering authentic experiences abroad. Findings suggest that travel journalists, bloggers, and forum contributors all participate uniquely to the travel planning process, providing different elements. On the reception end, travelers consume many sources during their travel planning, and actively seek various websites and publications for different reasons. The overall conclusion is that travel journalists are just one important yet specific part of the larger process of travel journalism that acts interdependently with non-professional sources to respond to the online traveler’s needs.

The research aims to analyze the discursive ethos of journalists working in press officer. The ethos is understood as the picture shown itself through discourse. The research part of a reflection on the changes in the world of journalists, which noted a number of changes in the professional market, this phenomenon has triggered significant changes on the professional identity of journalists. How to ensure some researchers, journalism is undergoing structural changes. On the other hand, there is an extension of the professional field in which gradually journalists start to act in extra-essays spaces playing the role of press and communications officer. However, the press and journalists have consolidated over the centuries as an institution linked to democratic principles, children of the Enlightenment, journalism and journalists have always had an ethos and an ideology linked to the public interest and social interest. In view of the change of habitus of professional journalists, this study intends to enter into a body of research not "standard-setting" on the professional identity of journalists. Thus, through in-depth interviews with six agents of this field, try to understand what is the image of themselves projected through discourse of journalists working in the press office. In addition, we use as method discourse analysis in the French line to analyze the interviews. As a theoretical approach we appropriate the field notions of habitus developed by Pierre Bourdieu, as well as employ the concept of discursive ethos prospects of Dominique Maingueneu and Ruth Amossy to mark out our argument.

Danielsson, Martina, Lindkvist, Linnea January 2019 (has links)

Obraz médií/novinářství v české próze 60. let / The Image of Media/Journalism in the Czech Prose of the 1960's

Turková, Barbora January 2020 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the depiction of the media and journalism in Czech prose of the 1960s. From the point of view of the entire period of the communist regime's rule in Czechoslovakia, the 1960s are a time of easing political and social conditions, which was also reflected in the literature. The aim of this work is to show the image of the media and journalism in Czech prose in the period in the broader genesis of the portrayal of the media in Czech literature and also with regard to the historical social and cultural context of the 1960s. Moreover, the thesis illustrates through content and text analysis, how individual works of literature describes the medial landscape and the way media officers and their functions are portrayed. Furthermore, the thesis examines the perception of journalists by a society living under the communist regime and how the journalists perceived themselves.
