The aim of our study was to investigate how women in management positions experience the relationship between parenthood and their careers. We also wanted to study how these women experienced expectations from society on parenting in relation to their careers. The study's empirical data is based on semi-structured interviews with eight women in management positions. We analyzed the data from a gender perspective with the help of authors Connell's and Pearse's (2015) concepts of gender domain, gender regime, gender order and gender roles. We also used Elvin-Nowak's and Thomsson's (2001) discourses maintain separate spheres and availability and immunization. Magnusson's (2006) concepts of limitations and delimitations as well as West´s and Zimmerman's (1987) concept doing gender were also applied to the data analysis. The results from our study showed that female managers could be divided into two groups. One group where parenthood was valued higher than professional life and where the female managers had longer parental leave and more days of child care than their partners. The second group valued professional life higher than parenthood and the female managers in this group had shorter parental leave and fewer days of child care than their partners. However, all study participants, no matter the group, felt that parenting and professional life interacted with each other and that one sphere affected the other. Thus, the study participants could not at the same time be as involved in parenting as in their professional life or vice versa. Participants who chose to take greater responsibility for child care did not experience any views from society whilst participants who took less responsibility for child care did. The views were based on the expectations from society on motherhood in relation to a management position.

Uppsala universitet: Inst. för idé- och lärdomshistoria, C-uppsats, Vårtermin, 2022. 1970-talet präglades av fler samhälleliga förändringar än vad gemeneman idag förmodligenkänner till. Det är ett årtionde många tar förgivet och ändå skulle framväxten av olikafeministiska rörelser och populärkulturen skapa en social förändring i västvärlden både under1970-talet och framåt. För att konkretisera och påvisa dessa förändringar över tid ser jag idetta arbete till kvinnliga artister och deras porträttering i svenska populärkulturella tidskrifterunder 1970- och 1980-talet. Jag ser till det kvinnliga rockbandet The Runaways för attundersöka det av andra vågens feminism präglade 1970-talet och artisterna Joan Jett och Lita Ford, som tidigare verkat i bandet innan de övergick till solokarriärer, för att undersöka feminismens succesiva kommersialisering och tidskrifternas professionalisering under 1980-talet. Genom både bild- och textanalyser går det att konstatera att andra vågens feminism utmanas inom populärkulturen genom band som The Runaways. Något som tog sig i uttryck iden mansdominerade branschen genom ambivalenta kommentarer och utpekande avskillnader som kön. Feminismen och konceptet av den kvinnliga artisten verkar sedan haanammats under 1980-talet till priset av att de kvinnliga artisterna själva fick framhäva sinfemininitet, då det inte var uttalat men ändå förväntat. En image skulle säljas in, vilket också skulle synas i följande årtionden då kvinnligheten och feminismen inom populärkulturen tydligt redan var kommersialiserad.

Kvinnliga styrelseledamöters betydelse för prestationer på börsen : En studie om kvinnliga styrelseledamöter bland svenska nyintroduktioner mellan 2010 - 2019Liljegren, Hanna, Lealem, Sara January 2021 (has links)
Bakgrund: Offentlig information som finns tillgänglig visar att det är en stark majoritet män i bolagsstyrelser. I takt med att mångfald diskuteras i samhället och allt fler yrken blir mer jämställda, har styrelserummens könsdiversifiering inte omvandlats på samma sätt jämfört med andra yrken. Vissa skandinaviska länder har vidtagit åtgärder för att öka jämställdheten i företagens styrelser. Det kan berika att veta om de vidtagna åtgärderna ger det förväntade resultatet. Syfte: Syftet med studien är att undersöka om det finns något samband mellan avkastningen och könsfördelningen bland styrelseledamöterna i nyintroducerade bolag på Stockholmsbörsens, Large Cap, Mid Cap och Small Cap. Metod: Studien utgår från en kvantitativ metod med multipel regressionsanalys för olika oberoende variabler för att undersöka korrelationen mellan lönsamhet och könsdiversifiering inom bolagsstyrelser på kort sikt samt lång sikt. Därtill utfördes t-tester för att pröva om skillnader mellan genomsnittlig avkastning finns. Slutsats: Resultaten från denna studie finner inga evidens på statistiska samband mellan könsdiversifiering i styrelsen och lönsamhet i avkastning över durationen på ett år från att börsnotering skett. / Background: Public information that is available indicates that there is a strong majority of males ruling in the board rooms. As diversity is becoming widely debated in society and different occupations are becoming more gender equal, the boardrooms do not convert in the same past as other occupations. Some Scandinavian countries have gone to long measures to increase gender diversity in the corporate boardrooms. Furthermore, it can enrich to know if the measures taken give the anticipated outcome. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to investigate whether there is any relationship between the profitability and the gender distribution among the board members of newly listed companies on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, Large Cap, Mid Cap and Small Cap. Methodology: The study approaches a quantitative method with multiple regressions analyses with separate control variables to examine the correlation between profitability and gender diversity in corporate boards on short-term and long-term. In addition, t-tests were performed to investigate differences between average returns. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is no statistically determined relationship between the gender diversity of the board and the stock return over the duration of a year from going public.

Studiens syfte är att skapa en förståelse för hur unga kvinnliga immigranter i Sverige upplever tillhörighet och/eller utanförskap vid användning av olika språk inom familj, bland vänner på arbetsplatsen och/eller i skolan. Studien bygger även på huruvida unga kvinnliga immigranters sätt att använda svenska språket, sitt modersmål samt andra språk kan kopplas till olika typer av ackulturationsstrategier. De följande socialpsykologiska teorierna används för att analysera kvinnliga immigranters upplevelser: ackulturation, symbolisk interaktionism, social identitetsteori och multikulturell identitet. Semistrukturerade intervjuer användes vid insamling av data, och de analyserades med hjälp av tematisk analys. Resultatet visar på att modersmål har en större betydelse för respondenterna, och används mest inom familj och med umgänge. Svenska är det gemensamma språk som talas främst i skolan och/eller på arbetsplatsen. Att blanda mellan olika språk görs oftast med vänner. Det framkom även att hemlandets kultur är viktig för kvinnliga immigranters personliga identitet. Vidare visar resultatet att ackulturationsstrategier kan kopplas till kvinnliga immigranters positiva och negativa upplevelser med språk. / The purpose of the study is to create an understanding of how young female immigrants in Sweden experience belonging and/or exclusion when using different languages within the family, among friends at work and/or at school. The study is also based on whether young female immigrants' ways of using the Swedish language, their mother tongue and other languages can be linked to different types of acculturation strategies. The following social psychological theories are used to analyze the experiences of female immigrants: acculturation, symbolic interactionism, social identity theory and multicultural identity. Semi-structured interviews were used in data collection, and they were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The results show that mother tongue is of greater importance to the respondents, and is mostly used within families and with friends. Swedish is the common language spoken mainly at school and/or in the workplace. Mixing between different languages is usually done with friends. It also emerged that the culture of the home country is important for the personal identity of female immigrants. Furthermore, the results show that acculturation strategies can be linked to female immigrants' positive and negative experiences with language.

Since the coronavirus occurred, the number of people working from home has increased by almost 400%, which may cause some confusion. The purpose of this essay is to describe the legal situation regarding the psychosocial work environment when working from home and gain an insight into how male and female workers experience the psychosocial work environment when working from home during Covid-19. The purpose is further to apply a gender perspective by analysing the differences between male and female experiences. In order to fulfill the purpose, a legal dogmatic method has been used, and the sociology of law by collecting data using surveys and interviews. The regulation regarding the psychosocial work environment when working from home is found in EU law and in the Work Environment Act (1977:1160), which in turn is supplemented by the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulations. According to the Work Environment Act, the employer must take necessary measures to prevent accidents or ill health of workers. By analysing the data collected from the surveys and interviews, it can be concluded that there are differences between male and female experiences. A significant difference arises, for example, in the issue of workload, where women experience a higher workload than men, both at the office and when working from home. A possible reason for this difference may be that women have a higher total workload as they have more responsibility in the home environment. In general, there seem to be quite positive experiences of working from home, among both men and women, as the workload and stress decrease.

The TV series Fröken Frimans Krig is about the struggle for women's voting rights in Sweden during the beginning of the 20th century. The purpose of this study is to examine, through a content analysis, which pros and cons are shown in the TV series. The study also discusses how these arguments differ from those that are highlighted in historic research involving women’s right to vote. The material consists of selected scenes from the TV series. The scenes were selected with a goal-oriented selection where selected characters, gender theory and arguments for and against women’s right to vote are most strongly portrayed. The scenes have been analyzed using an analysis scheme that has been shaped according to Keith Selby and Ron Cowdery's narrative analysis model. In addition, rhetorical analysis has been used in the analysis to be able to answer the research questions. The results showed that the arguments used in the TV series are based on the arguments presented by historical research. It was possible to see clear signs that the women used logical reasoning when they argued, while the men argued based on their feelings to strengthen their opinions. This shows that the series’ creators have done their due diligence since the arguments in the series gave clear signs of the categories that the research represents. The study concluded that the TV series Fröken Frimans krig is a fictional story with elements of real history that represents the arguments for and against women’s rights to vote.

Abstrakt This essay is about how I investigated the valkyries and shieldmaidens gender in Old Norse mythology. The starting point of investigating valkyries, from a gender perspective, lies within that "gender", socially, can be reconstructed from societies ideologies and norms, referring to present time discussions. Further, studies have shown different interpretations of the valkyries in mythology, as many researchers described valkyries as crossborder from the female gender category to the male gender category. In mentioning the valkyries as cross-border, between the social roles of being a man or a woman, the valkyrian is emphasized as one who acts outside the norm of their gender category. But, if the normality norms for the valkyries are the same, then there should be no boundary-crossing. And with this said,and to validate this research importance, my working hypothesis was that valkyries and shieldmaidens fits in to a third gender category, and that the investigation regarding a third gender is quite right considering how society has changed, especially since the third gender category has become a contemporary phenomenon. Therefore, to understand the myths, I first needed to familiarise myself with the properties, attributes and actions.Related to this, I, immersed myself within the mythology to better understand the stemmed creation of the myths. The study regarding valkyriesand shieldmaidens was examined, through an analysis, of the heroic poems within The poetic Edda.

HUR PÅVERKAS KVINNLIGA LAGIDROTTARES VÄLBEFINNANDE AV SIN IDROTT? / How are female team athletes well-being affected by their sport?Roth, Malin January 2020 (has links)
SYFTE: Hälsa är ett begrepp som Världshälsoorganisationen (WHO) definierar som ”ett tillstånd av fullständigt fysiskt, psykiskt och socialt välbefinnande”, i denna studie fokuseras det på välbefinnandet i samband med fysisk aktivitet inom lagidrott. Att prata om muskelbristningar eller belastningsskador är accepterat men ångest och depression är tabu. Syftet i detta arbete är att ta reda på om idrotten påverkar välbefinnandet hos kvinnliga lagidrottare i södra Skåne utifrån tre olika idrotter (fotboll, innebandy och handboll). Detta genom att förhålla sig till Antonovskys tre centrala begrepp för känsla av sammanhang vilka är begriplighet, meningsfullhet och hanterbarhet. ● Frågorna som ställdes utifrån syftet var: (1) Vad påverkar välbefinnandet i samband med lagidrott? (2) Hur ser skillnaderna ut gällande välbefinnandet idrotterna emellan? METOD: För insamling av data har en kvantitativ metod genom enkätundersökning används. Totalt inkom 60 svar varav 6 stycken bortfall. Enkätformuläret som besvarades var en omgjord version av originalet KASAM-29 där frågorna modifierats om för att passa både syfte och målgrupp. Frågorna var uppdelade i tre olika kategorier, begriplighet, meningsfullhet och hanterbarhet. KASAM-värde hade lägsta värde 0 och högsta 96, dessa värden speglar den känsla av sammanhang som de kvinnliga idrotterna upplever i sin idrott. Programmet Excel användes för att bearbeta data. RESULTAT: Resultaten sett till enbart medelvärdena visar en jämn fördelning mellan begreppen och idrotterna men skiljer sig på fler håll idrotterna emellan. Det totala medelvärdet för de olika idrotterna var innebandy: 63,56, fotboll: 61,76 och handboll: 57,4. Fotbollsspelarna och innebandyspelarnas medelvärde speglar varandra genom begreppen medan handbollsspelarna till mesta dels ligger lägre i alla begrepp. Men inga av de presenterade resultaten visar någon statistisk signifikant skillnad då p= större än 0,05. SLUTSATS: Det som påverkar de kvinnliga lagidrottares känsla av sammanhang är främst begreppet meningsfullhet. Relationen till lagkamraterna och motivationen till sin idrott höjer även det KASAM-värdet hos alla deltagande respondenter. This study has its starting point in Antonovskys salutogenic theory and the three concepts in SOC (Sence of coherence) which is comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness. Research has shown that physical activity can have both positive and negative affect to the well-being. Team sports usually have a positive impact on the well-being. This study´s approach is quantitative and 60 female athletes in Skåne answered the questionnaire. The results show that team sports have a positive effect on the mental health and meaningfulness has had the most positive affect in terms of the relationship with team mates as well as ones motivation regarding the sport. The aim of this thesis is to examine female migrants’ experiences of separatist activation policies for a more inclusive labor market, and to contribute to a more nuanced and heterogeneous view on "immigrant women" in Sweden. I interviewed five women who have participated in these types of programs. The empiric material was analyzed from a social constructionist perspective and using postcolonial feminist theory. The result of this thesis is that the separatist room worked as a form of consciousness-raising. It also shows how the interviewees both identify themselves with, and disidentify themselves from a stereotypical image of “immigrant women”.
