Orienta??o profissional em pessoas com necessidades especiais: revis?o de literatura (2000-2009) / Professional guidance in a population with special needs: literature review (2000-2009)

Those who have some sort of disability also show this kind of query and may need such assistance. In Brazil, this population corresponds to 14.5% of the total number of Brazilians at work age. The aim of this research was to review the literature regarding professional orientation for a sample of disabled people during the period from 2000 to 2009. The search included relevant articles (N=41), thesis and dissertations (N=6), book chapters (N=2) and books (N=4), totalizing 55 documents. Thirty of those were produced in Brazil and 25 others from foreign countries. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were made according to a set form. The data pointed that 31% of the material referred to studies related to the professional insertion issue, 18% were about job market, and 13% were about the first choice. Few studies approached actual intervention practice in professional guidance (27.3%). The majority of the researches focused on disabled people or those who interact with them on a daily basis, such as employers, family or educators. This study appoints for the need of more scientific production on this area since the population contingency of disabled individuals is high and in need of effective practices in the field of professional guidance. / Entende-se por Orienta??o Profissional todas as estrat?gias que visam auxiliar um indiv?duo a tomar decis?es sobre sua vida profissional, sejam elas relacionadas com primeira escolha, reorienta??o profissional, mercado de trabalho ou inser??o profissional. As pessoas que possuem algum tipo de defici?ncia tamb?m apresentam esse tipo de d?vida e necessitam desse tipo de aux?lio. No Brasil, esta popula??o pode corresponder a 14,5% do n?mero total de brasileiros em idade de inser??o profissional. Este trabalho teve como objetivo realizar uma revis?o na literatura em rela??o ? orienta??o profissional em popula??es que apresentam algum tipo de defici?ncia, no per?odo de 2000-2009. Partindo de buscas em bases de dados foram selecionados artigos (N=41), teses e disserta??es (N=6), e cap?tulos de livros (N=2) e livros (N=4) que tivessem rela??o com a tem?tica, totalizando 55 produ??es. Destas, 30 eram nacionais e 25 estrangeiras. As refer?ncias foram analisadas quantitativa e qualitativamente com base em categorias de an?lise previamente desenvolvidas e constantes de Formul?rio. Os resultados apontaram que 31% dos trabalhos abordaram quest?es relativas ? inser??o profissional, 18% sobre mercado de trabalho e 13% sobre a primeira escolha. Poucos trabalhos focalizavam pr?ticas propriamente ditas de OP (27,3%). Os estudos tinham como foco os portadores de defici?ncia propriamente ditos, ou pessoas de seu conv?vio como, empregadores e/ou familiares e/ou educadores. O presente estudo apontou para a necessidade de um maior volume de produ??o cientifica na ?rea e tamb?m de pesquisas cujos resultados possam de fato ser generalizados, uma vez que o contingente de pessoas deficientes ? alto e necessita de estudos que orientem pr?ticas mais efetivas no campo da orienta??o profissional.

Revisão sistemática da literatura sobre as terapias endoscópicas ablativas do esôfago de Barrett / Systematic literature review on endoscopic ablative therapies of Barrett´s esophagus

O esôfago de Barrett é o principal fator de risco para o adenocarcinoma e resulta da agressão crônica causada pelo refluxo gastroesofágico. A abordagem terapêutica é controversa, e o tratamento cirúrgico, na presença de neoplasia intraepitelial de alto grau, pode estar indicado. A abordagem endoscópica apresenta-se como a alternativa com menor morbimortalidade e resultados favoráveis. Método: Realizou-se revisão sistemática nas bases de informação científica, com seleção de artigos randomizados e controlados, possibilitando metaanálise e avaliação isolada dos resultados das terapias ablativas da metaplasia intestinal. Considerou-se como terapias ablativas a crioterapia, laser, terapia fotodinâmica, eletrocoagulação multipolar, ablação por plasma de argônio e radiofrequência. Resultados: A revisão sistemática da literatura através do PUBMED recuperou os estudos com maior força de evidência e grau de recomendação disponíveis referentes ao tratamento ablativo do esôfago de Barrett. Nenhuma outra base de dados pesquisada adicionou outros artigos. Os artigos selecionados são estudos randomizados e controlados, classificados como A ou B pela tabela de Oxford. A terapia fotodinâmica apresenta no estudo meta-analítico aumento do risco de falha terapêutica em relação à ablação por plasma de argônio, NNH = -7. Os efeitos colaterais considerados foram dor torácica e estenose, com aumento do risco de dor torácica quando a ablação é realizada por terapia fotodinâmica e números semelhantes de estenoses para as duas terapias. A ablação do esôfago de Barrett por eletrocoagulação multipolar ou plasma de argônio apresenta risco de falhas terapêuticas semelhantes, assim como do efeito colateral de dor torácica na meta-análise. A terapia fotodinâmica associada ao inibidor da bomba de prótons apresenta benefício, em meta-análise, para a ablação do esôfago de Barrett em relação ao uso isolado do inibidor, NNT = 2. Dor torácica, estenose e fotossensibilidade estão associadas à intervenção endoscópica e, desta forma, a terapia fotodinâmica está associada ao aumento do risco com NNH entre - 2 e -3. Não houve aumento do risco de falha terapêutica entre a ablação do esôfago de Barrett por plasma de argônio e inibidor da bomba de prótons versus uso isolado do inibidor da bomba de prótons, em estudo isolado. A radiofrequência associada ao inibidor da bomba de prótons apresenta-se como método eficaz na redução do risco de falha terapêutica, NNT = 1. Conclusões: Não há estudos que demonstrem benefício na indicação da crioterapia ou laser para a abordagem endoscópica do esôfago de Barrett. A ablação por plasma de argônio apresenta eficácia superior à terapia fotodinâmica e a ablação por plasma de argônio e eletrocoagulação multipolar apresentam resultados efetivos e semelhantes. A terapia fotodinâmica apresenta menor número de falhas terapêuticas em relação ao uso isolado do inibidor da bomba de prótons. Não há dados suficientes para demonstrar a eficácia da ablação por plasma de argônio em relação ao uso isolado do inibidor da bomba de prótons. A radiofrequência é a abordagem mais recente e requer estudos comparativos para sua indicação. Os tratamentos endoscópicos ablativos estão associados a um maior risco de eventos colaterais como dor torácica, estenose e fotossensibilidade em relação ao tratamento clínico isolado, embora tais eventos não sejam graves ou limitantes / Barrett´s esophagus is the main risk factor for adenocarcinoma and it results from the chronic aggression produced by gastroesophageal reflux. Its therapeutic approach is controversial and surgical treatment in the presence of high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia may be indicated. Endoscopic approach is an alternative with lower mortality and morbidity rates and favorable results. Methods: A systematic review of scientific databases was conducted and articles of randomized, controlled studies were selected, enabling meta-analysis and the isolated evaluation of the results concerning ablative therapies of intestinal metaplasia. Cryotherapy, laser therapy, photodynamic therapy, multipolar electrocoagulation, and ablation through argon plasma coagulation and radiofrequency were considered ablation therapies. Results: The systematic review through PUBMED retrieved results with higher strength of evidence and available recommendation level regarding the ablative therapy of Barrett´s esophagus. No other database in the research yielded additional articles. The selected articles are randomized, controlled studies classified as A or B according to the Oxford table. Photodynamic therapy was found to present an increase in treatment failure compared to argon plasma coagulation in the meta-analysis, NNH = -7. Chest pain and stenosis were considered side effects with higher risk of chest pain whenever ablation is conducted through photodynamic therapy and similar figures of stenoses for both therapies. Ablation of Barrett´s esophagus with multipolar electrocoagulation or argon plasma was found to have similar risk of treatment failure, as well as the side effect of chest pain in the meta-analysis. Photodynamic therapy associated with proton pump inhibitor is beneficial, in the meta-analysis, for the ablation of Barrett´s esophagus regarding the isolated use of the inhibitor, NNT = 2. Chest pain, stenoses and photosensitivity were found to be associated with the endoscopic intervention and, therefore, photodynamic therapy was found to be associated with higher risk with NNH ranging between -2 and -3. No increase of treatment failure risk between Barrett´s esophagus ablation with argon plasma and proton pump inhibitor versus the isolated use of proton pump inhibitor was verified, in isolated study. Radiofrequency associated with proton pump inhibitor is an efficient method to reduce the risk of treatment failure, NNT = 1. Conclusions: There are no studies demonstrating the benefit of indicating cryotherapy or laser therapy for the endoscopic approach of Barrett´s esophagus. Ablation with argon plasma coagulation was found to have superior efficacy compared to photodynamic therapy and the ablation through argon plasma coagulation and multipolar electrocoagulation was found to present effective and similar results. Photodynamic therapy was found to have lower occurrences of treatment failure compared to the isolated use of proton pump inhibitor. No sufficient data were found to demonstrate the efficacy of ablation with argon plasma compared to the isolated use of proton pump inhibitor. Radiofrequency is the most recent approach and requires comparative studies in order to be indicated. Ablative endoscopic therapies are associated with higher risk of side effects, for instance chest pain, stenoses and photosensitivity compared to clinical treatment alone, although such events are neither severe nor limiting

Existe a necessidade de modificar o processo de projeto diante da crescente complexidade envolvida em empreendimentos da construção. Há envolvimento de muitos profissionais, existência de distintas metas e interesses, além da ampliação do escopo dos projetos desenvolvidos. Além disso, o processo tradicional de projeto é geralmente desenvolvido de forma fragmentada, desconsiderando o conhecimento de vários estudos acadêmicos já desenvolvidos, sendo as decisões tomadas geralmente com base na experiência dos projetistas. Nesse sentido, uma das abordagens que vem sendo usada para melhorar os projetos de edificações é o projeto baseado em evidências (Evidence-Based Design - EBD). EBD é um processo que visa a melhorar as decisões de projeto tendo como base o uso das melhores evidências disponíveis de pesquisa, aliadas à prática profissional e a dados relacionados aos requisitos do cliente. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo desenvolver um modelo conceitual para guiar o uso do EBD no processo de projeto de edificações. A pesquisa foi dividida em três estágios. O primeiro estágio, de caráter exploratório, buscou a compreensão da pesquisadora quanto ao tópico investigado (EBD). No segundo estágio, buscou-se entender a aplicação do EBD no processo de projeto com enfoque na geração de valor Já o terceiro estágio buscou desenvolver formas de disseminação de resultados baseados em evidência. Ao longo dos três estágios, foram realizadas três revisões sistemáticas de literatura e também três estudos empíricos, sendo dois desenvolvidos no contexto de habitação de baixa renda no Brasil, enquanto que o terceiro foi realizado em um empreendimento da área da saúde no Reino Unido. O estudo apresenta tanto contribuições práticas como teóricas. Sob um enfoque prático, a principal contribuição é a possibilidade de integração de evidências existentes no processo de projeto a partir do desenvolvimento de algumas formas de coleta, processamento e análise dessas evidências. Em termos teóricos, este estudo propõe uma nova abordagem conceitual sobre nomenclatura e classificação de evidências para o processo de projeto usando EBD, com foco na geração de valor. É apresentada uma proposta de processo de projeto que busca uma melhor integração entre a prática profissional com conhecimentos produzidos pela academia, por meio de um processo de geração de conhecimento como uma forma de aprendizagem contínua. / There is a need for changing the design process due to the growing complexity of construction projects. There is a large number of stakeholders, which have a diversity of aims and goals, in addition to the broader scope of building projects. Moreover, the traditional design process is usually developed in a fragmented way, based mostly on the designers’ experience, often disregarding knowledge from other stakeholders involved. Evidence based design (EBD) is an emerging approach that aims to address this problem by supporting project decision-making with available evidence from research, in addition to professional experience and clients requirements’ data. This research work has proposed a conceptual model to guide the use of EBD in the building design process. The study was divided into three stages. The first stage had an exploratory character, in which the focus of the researcher was on understanding EBD. In the second stage, the aim was to study the application of EBD in the design process, focusing on value generation. The third stage consisted of devising forms of disseminating evidence-based results Three systematic literature reviews and three empirical studies were developed along those three stages. Two studies were concerned with affordable housing projects in Brazil, and one study involved a care home project in the U.K. This work provides both practical and theoretical contributions. From a practical viewpoint, the model proposed herein integrates evidences in building design process and proposes techniques to collect, process, and analyse such evidences. From a theoretical viewpoint, it introduces a new terminology and classification for evidences that can be incorporated in buildings design by using EBD, for increasing value generation. A proposal for a new design process that improves the integration between the professional practice and knowledge produced by academics, through a process for generating knowledge as a form of continuous learning.

Nyutexaminerad sjuksköterska : I okänd och komplex terräng / Novice nurse : in unknown and complex terrain

Att vara nyutexaminerad sjuksköterska ställer höga krav på kompetensutveckling och förmåga att klara övergången till en ny miljö. Sjuksköterskebrist råder hos samtliga arbetsgivare och det finns en utmaning i framtidens kompetensförsörjning. Hög arbetsbelastning med ihållande stress, bristande personalkontinuitet och otillräcklig kompetens har en negativ inverkan på vårdens kvalitet och tillgänglighet. Det är oklart om den nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskan tillåts vara ny, då hen förväntas vara självständig efter introduktion. Författarna har därför utfört en litteraturöversikt med syftet att beskriva den nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskans upplevelse av sin övergång och kompetensutveckling de två första yrkesverksamma åren. Resultatet visar på fyra huvudteman; att klara övergången, handledningens kraft, upplevelse av arbetsmiljö och att greppa helheten med totalt tio subteman. Det synliggörs att trygga relationer i arbetsgruppen, där särskilt handledarens roll, medverkar till en positiv övergång som främjar kompetensutveckling. Den nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskan utvecklar sin professionella identitet genom att dela med sig av erfarenheter. Genomgående finns det en känsla av att vara oförberedd att möta det ansvar som ges i ett tidigt skede. En rädsla för att göra misstag leder till en strävan att vara felfri. Inledningsvis upplever den nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskan svårigheter i organisatorisk förmåga, vilket kan resultera i en bristande helhetssyn kring patienten. Efter övergången upplevs tillfredställelse och stolthet att utföra yrket. Diskussionen berör komplexiteten som finns i handledning, inverkan av personliga variationer och betydelsen av relationer. För att främja en hållbar utveckling kan vi dra slutsatsen att det är värdefullt att verksamheten arbetar preventivt med arbetsmiljö. Detta för att behålla och stärka den nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskan i sin övergång och kompetensutveckling.

Kommunikationens betydelse : Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter med ett främmande språk

Bakgrund: En del patienter som söker hälso- och sjukvård har ett annat modersmål än vad som talas i landet de söker vård. Det leder till svårigheter att erbjuda vård och problem med att tillgodose information om hälsoåtgärder till patienten. Tidigare forskning visar på de problem patienter upplever i sådana situationer. Problem: Missförstånd kan uppstå mellan sjuksköterska och patient när de inte talar samma modersmål. Patienter kan inte beskriva sina symtom vilket leder till svårigheter att få sina omvårdnadsbehov tillgodosedda. Detta kan leda till att patienter känner sig diskriminerade och upplever att de inte får den vård de har behov av. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av kommunikation i omvårdnadsarbetet med patienter som har ett annat modersmål. Metod: En allmän litteraturöversikt genomfördes med 11 artiklar, varav nio kvalitativa, en kvantitativ och en mixed method. Resultat: När översättning med tolk användes underlättades kommunikationen mellan sjuksköterskan och patienten. Missförstånd minskade i informationsutbytet vilket bidrog till att omvårdnaden förbättrades. Patienternas oro avtog då de delgavs information som de förstod. Det var likaså viktigt att avsätta tid för kommunikationen med patienterna med ett annat modersmål. Slutsats: När sjuksköterskor har stöd i kommunikationen med patienter med ett annat modersmål bidrar det till bättre omvårdnad. / Background: Some patients seeking healthcare have a different mother tongue than what is spoken in the country seeking healthcare in. This leads to difficulties in providing care and information on health measures to patients. Research shows the problems patients experience in such situations. Problem: Misunderstanding can occur between nurse and patients when the same language is not spoken. Difficulties in describeing symptoms can lead to difficulties in meeting patients caring needs. Patients can feel discriminated and experiencing not receiveing the care they need. Aim: The purpose was to describe nurses' experiences of communication when caring for patients who have a different mother tongue. Method: A general literature review was conducted with 11 articles, nine were qualitative, one quantitative and one mixed method. Result: Use of interpretor in translation facilitated communication between the nurse and the patient. Misunderstandings decreased in the information exchange, which contributed to nursing improvement. The patients' concerns subsided as they understood the information. It was important to set aside time for the patients with another mother tongue. Conclusions: When nurses have support in communication with patients with another mother tongue contribute to a better care.

This thesis provides a systematic literature review of a selection among current papers andarticles on Green Information Systems (IS). The main focus is on the current state of Green ISin academic research. This study aims at gaining a deeper understanding and a clearer view ofthe state-of-the-art of IS for environmental sustainability research, with the goal of clarifyingthe diffuse idea of what Green IT/IS is, and what differentiates Green IS from Green IT.To support the objective of this study, the articles selected for data analysis were collected byusing a systematic literature review as research and analytical method. Within the thesis, adescriptive angle with an interpretative character is used to analyse the data extracted.A theoretical framework based on concepts from sustainability, Green IS and Green IT isemployed in order to analyse and compare terminologies and frameworks used in the studiedarticles. Furthermore, the different dimensions of sustainability and the various terms used todescribe Green IS are analysed comparatively.The result and analysis are discussed in a conclusion confirming the on-going ambiguity ofthe terms Green IT and Green IS and the transformative power of IS. This study aims tocontribute to our understanding of some of the existing problems that hinder further researchin the context of Green IS. Sexualidade na saúde mental: revisão da produção científica brasileira (2001-2014). / Sexuality in mental health: brasilian science production review (2001-2014).

Com o objetivo de analisar estudos sobre sexualidade e saúde mental, particularmente artigos publicados no Brasil entre 2001 e 2014, esta dissertação apresenta uma revisão de literatura conduzida em duas bases de dados: Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde e Portal de Periódicos CAPES. Nota-se que os estudos sobre sexo, gênero e sexualidade mostram a complexidade do entendimento sobre a vida sexual humana, oscilando entre as perspectivas essencialista e construtivista, concebendo a sexualidade de diversos modos. Já os estudos sobre loucura, saúde mental e atenção psicossocial apontam para as diferentes concepções acerca do processo de adoecimento mental, a saúde mental sendo ao mesmo tempo um campo científico e um valor de bem-estar psíquico a ser alcançado. Pesquisas em instituições asilares mostram que os agentes institucionais representam a sexualidade da pessoa em sofrimento mental (PSM) como anormal ou inexistente. A revisão da produção acadêmica sobre o tema, após a promulgação da Lei 10.126/2001, que dispõe justamente sobre os direitos das pessoas portadoras de transtornos mentais, reuniu 685 publicações (549 na CAPES e 136 na BVS), 43 delas duplicadas, dentre as quais apenas 109 nacionais, estes tendo sido sistematizados pelo título e resumo, apenas 11 foram selecionados e investigados na íntegra. Os resultados mostram que a produção científica analisada é escassa, sendo a temática incipiente na saúde coletiva, predominando abordagens biomédicas com foco no comportamento sexual, com especial atenção à vulnerabilidade às IST/HIV/AIDS, bem como a concentração dos estudos na região sudeste do país, a ausência de educação sexual e lacunas na formação para o trabalho com a sexualidade. Conclui-se que a produção científica brasileira analisada sobre sexualidade no campo da saúde mental não é centrada nos direitos sexuais e reprodutivos das PSM, enquanto as práticas sexuais dos usuários e as representações dos profissionais ganham relevo nas análises. / Aiming at analyzing mental health and sexuality studies, specifically in papers published in Brazil between 2001 and 2014, this dissertation brings a review of the literature carried out in two databases: Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde and Portal de Periódicos CAPES. It can be noticed that studies on sex, gender and sexuality show the complexity of the understanding of human sexual life going from essentialist to constructivist perspectives, conceiving sexuality in several manners. However, studies on madness, mental health and psychosocial care point to different conceptions of mental sickening process, mental health being at the same time a science field and a psychological well-being value to be achieved. Surveys in nursery homes show that institution agents represent the sexuality of a mentally suffering person (MSP) as abnormal or non-existing. The review of academic production on the subject, after the implementation of Act 10.126/2001, which encompasses exactly the rights of people with mental disorders, has put together 685 publications (549 in CAPES and 136 in BVS), 43 of them in both, with only 109 from Brazil, these ones having been systematized by title and abstract, only eleven were selected and studied thoroughly. Results show that the analyzed science production is scarce, being the theme just at its beginning in collective health, with the predominance of biomedical approaches focusing in on sexual behavior, with special attention to the vulnerability to IST/HIV/AIDS, as well as to the concentration of studies in the southeast region of the country, the absence of sexual education and gaps in the training to work with sexuality. The conclusion is that the studied Brazilian science production on sexuality in the field of mental health is not centered on sexual and reproductive rights of MSP, while user sexual practices and the representations of professionals come to the fore in the analyses.

Esta revisão de literatura apresenta uma análise dos trabalhos sobre Transtorno de Déficit de Atenção e Hiperatividade, TDAH, quanto às psicoterapias e aos tratamentos psicológicos ofertados a crianças e adolescentes, recuperados nas principais bases de dados da área. Transtorno de grande prevalência na população escolar, com sérios prejuízos pessoais e sociais, pois comportamentos de hiperatividade, desatenção e impulsividade, em graus atípicos, comprometem as funções executivas como concentração, planejamento de ações e controle sobre impulsos, o TDAH é conceito que gera controvérsias na comunidade científica. De um lado têm-se as perspectivas da terapia comportamental e cognitivo-comportamental, com o objetivo de reeducação comportamental, apoiada pela psiquiatria e psicofarmacologia. De outro, as linhas compreensivas e a psicanálise buscam não só comportamentos observáveis, mas a singularidade de cada envolvido, ou seja, a contribuição da família e/ou da cultura nesses quadros. A fim de mapear as publicações nessa área, foram analisadas as produções dos últimos dez anos (20002010) locadas nas bases de dados MEDLINE, PsycINFO, SciELO, LILACS e PSICODOC, por meio do termo TDAH, cruzado com tratamento psicológico e psicoterapia, respeitando-se o idioma da base de dados. Os resultados encontrados revelaram a supremacia de publicações sob a ótica comportamental ou cognitivo-comportamental, principalmente em seu modelo combinado, associado à medicação, tratamento validado através de evidências. As outras abordagens psicológicas, quando publicadas, não são absorvidas pelo modelo psiquiátrico, o que contribui para a sua invisibilidade queixas do transtorno são levadas primeiramente a pediatras, neurologistas e profissionais de orientação comportamental. Os bancos de dados, assim, revelaram ser amplamente usados por pesquisadores positivistas, o que pode vir a sugerir que seus tratamentos sejam os únicos disponíveis, o que não é fato. Existem métodos investigativos, como o estudo de caso que, embora pouco disseminados, apresentaram resultados favoráveis em seus tratamentos singulares / This literature review presents an analysis of the works about Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD and psychotherapy and psychological treatments offered to children and adolescents recovered in the main database area. Disorder of high prevalence in school population, with serious personal and social impairments, since the hyperactivity, inattention e impulsivity behaviors, in atypical degrees, compromises executive functions such as concentration, action planning and impulses control, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has been a controversy target among the scientific community. On one hand we have the behavioral therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy, seeking for the behavioral rehabilitation, supported by psychiatry and psychopharmacology. On the other hand, comprehensive psychological approaches and the psychoanalysis does not aim to reduce these children to observable behaviors and, actually, to understand their symptoms as an expression of their singularity, explaining hyperactive and/or inattentive behavior in contemporary context. In order to map the publications in this area, it was analyzed the productions in the last decade (2000-2010) leased in the databases MEDLINE, PsycINFO, SciELO, LILACS and PSICODOC, through the term ADHD crossed with psychological treatment and psychotherapy, respecting the language of the database. The results showed the superiority of publications from the perspective of behavioral or cognitive-behavioral therapy, mainly in a combined model with medication, treatment validated by evidences. The others psychological approaches, when published, are not absorbed by the psychiatric model, which generates its invisibility complaints of disorder are taken primarily to pediatricians, neurologists and professional behavioral treatments. The databases thus shown to be widely used by researchers at positivism, which might suggest that their treatments are the only ones available, which is not fact. There are investigative methods, as the case study, although a little spread, showed favorable results in their singular treatments

Usable Firewall Rule Sets

Correct functioning is the most important requirement for any system. Nowadays there are a lot of threats to computer systems that undermine confidence in them and, as a result, force a user to abandon their use. Hence, a system cannot be trusted if there is no proper security provided. Firewalls are an essential component of network security and there is an obvious need for their use. The level of security provided by a firewall depends on how well it is configured. Thus, to ensure the proper level of network security, it is necessary to have properly configured firewalls. However, setting up the firewall correctly is a very challenging task. These configuration files might be hard to understand even for system administrators. This is due to the fact that these configuration files have a certain structure: the higher the position of a rule in the rule set, the higher priority it has. Challenging problems arise when a new rule is being added to the set, and a proper position, where to place it, needs to be found. Misconfiguration might sooner or later be made and that will lead to an inappropriate system's security. This brings us to the usability problem associated with the configuration of firewalls. The overall aim of this thesis is to identify existing firewall usability gaps and to mitigate them. To achieve the first part of the objective, we conducted a series of interviews with system administrators. In the interviews, system administrators were asked about the problems they face when dealing with firewalls. After having ascertained that the usability problems exist, we turned to literature to get an understanding on the state-of-the-art of the field and therefore conducted a systematic literature review. This review presents a classification of available solutions and identifies open challenges in this area. To achieve the second part of the objective, we started working on one identified challenge. A set of usability metrics was proposed and mathematically formalized. A strong correlation between our metrics and how system administrators describe usability was identified. / Network security is an important aspect that must be taken into account. A way forward - Overcoming the challenges of contemporary Design Thinking research

This paper aims to investigate the polarization present within the Design Thinking field ofresearch. Starting off from Johansson-Sköldberg et al. (2013), who first identified the distinctionbetween the two discourses Designerly Thinking and Design Thinking in 2010, we constructed a literature review and a framework of analysis based on conception of knowledge and its relationto the advancement of a research field. We claim that root-causes of the polarization derive from different knowledge bases, which then inhibit knowledge exchange as well as production. We conclude the paper by providing a suggestion for a way forward, claiming the applicability ofEngaged Scholarship within the realm of Design Thinking to make the field of research progresscreating relevance for both practitioners and scholars.
