L'œuvre filmique d'Osamu Tezuka et son incidence sur le cinéma d'animation / Osamu Tezuka's film work and its impact on animation

Kaczorowski, Samuel 30 September 2014 (has links)
In 1963, mangaka Osamu Tezuka created the first animated television series in history. To achieve it, the Mushi production team tried to recast traditional cartoon-making methods, poorly known through the American model. This research propose to explore the experiments which made this new form of animation, to detail its innovative aspect, and to analyse the technical and esthetical impact in the television boom period in Japan. The text argues that Osamu Tezuka's film work encourages us to sweep the traditional opposition between the experimental and industrial approaches. Indeed, Tezuka's work marks the beginning of a new tradition of animation. But is this artist really the architect of this systematization? How did his fictions become the symbol of the boom in the entertainment industry? Do they convey the torments of a civilization missing political values? Do they allow reconsidering the contents of the poetic structures of cartoons?Key-words: Osamu Tezuka, animation, Japanese animation, Japanimation, cel-animation, cartoons, television series, made-for-television animation, art and industry, manga, entertainment, entertainment industry.

Cruz, Sebastião Francelino da 29 July 2011 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The mango is one of the most popular fruits in Brazil, and the best know type is Mangifera indica L. The production of this fruit is seasonal and its industrialization has grown in the last years as a means of diminishing loss in the harvest time. The mango processing generates a great amount of residues, around 40 to 60% of the entire amount of raw material. From the residues generated, 12 to 15% is made up of peel and 15 to 20% is seeds. The residues cannot be accumulated indefinitely where they were produced, and are normally discarded with no previous treatment, far from the processing unit. In this sense, the use of the mango seed as a source of cellulose is an alternative in order to diminish the loss and impact on the environment. In this study, the mango seed of the Ubá variety of mangifera indica L. was used as a source of cellulose. The mango seed, originating from a juice factory in the municipality of Araguari-MG, showed a content of cellulose of 55.00% ± 1.0, while the content of Klason lignin was 23.85% ± 0.3. The fibres of the mango seed were used in the production of methylcellulose and the samples were produced by means of heterogeneous methylation using dimethyl sulfate (DMS) and iodomethane as alkylating agents. The methylcelluloses produced were characterized as to their thermal properties by means of scanning exploratory calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The crystalline fraction of the polymers was determined by diffraction of X-rays (DRX), and the substitution degrees (GS) were determined by chemical means. The GS values, determined by chemical means were of 1.35 for MCD and 0.45 for MCI, showing a higher substitution in the synthesis using DMS as methylation agent. Aqueous solutions of methylcellulose, in the concentration of 0.2% m/m and 0.6% m/m (polymer mass/cement mass) were used as an additive in mortar and its effect was assessed, when newly prepared, by means of Consistency Index (CI) tests, density and water retention. After hardened, tests by means of the assessment of potential resistance in adherence and traction (Ra) were carried out. The methylcellulose samples obtained with DMS (MCD) and iodomethane (MCI) as methylate agents, used in the proportion of 0.6% w/w, showed better result; the increase was of 27.75% and 71.54% in the IC and an increase of 23.33% and 26.67% respectively in the Ra, showing that polymers can be used in the production of adhesive mortars.

Through a multicase study in the chain of Brazilian mango export to the United States were investigated links supplier, exporter, importer and logistics operator. We developed a research protocol as suggested by Yin (2010) and adapt them to data collection tool semi-structured Christopher et al. (2011). From interviews with organizations supporting the research object, it has been selected sample of companies in which the phenomenon of risk management could be better observed. Based on the type of risk ratings compiled by Christopher et al. (2011), it is suggested a new organization of risk categories (demand, supply, and process control, and environmental sustainability). This paper presents a description of the mango export chain, as well as key risks and risk mitigation strategies employed by four members of the chain studied. As a rule of Sousa (2001), comparisons were made between the types of risk and mitigation strategies observed in the supply chain. Finally, the study showed that risk management is heterogeneous among members of the chain, the exporter is the most penalized by the result of the risk chain and collaboration is the main form observed mitigation.

Role médií při šíření japonské kultury / The role of media in the diffusion of Japanese culture

Paták, David January 2020 (has links)
The focus of this master's thesis is on the role of specific media in the diffusion of Japanese culture. Even though Japan is both geographically distant and culturally distinct from the rest of the world, it has become popular among fans globally. One of the main factors contributing to this fascination is a so-called media mix including Japan-specific media ranging from manga and anime to videogames. The aim of this master's thesis is to find out, based on a quantitative research conducted in both Czech and English-speaking environments, how various media outlets in Japan contribute to its popularity world-wide, identify the most important medium and scrutinize it through a descriptive analysis based on the theories of globalisation and cultural hybridisation to see what makes this medium so distinct. The author discovered that the most significant medium contributing to the diffusion of Japanese culture is anime. One of the main reasons behind its success is a commercial strategy of Japanese producers who intentionally remove cultural boundaries out of anime to make it globally acceptable. Another contributing factor connected to that, is the hybrid look of anime characters that do not have the physical features of Japanese people, which is why audiences tend to link the characters to their own...

There’s a lot to talk about regarding the core values” : A study on teachers’perspectives on comic books with a focus on core values and joy of reading in the Swedish subject in grades f-6

Andersson, Martin, Kullberg, Malin January 2024 (has links)

Smedberg, Linda January 2019 (has links)
Abstract The purpose of this thesis is to create an understanding of what motivates anime fans to visit an anime destination. This thesis aims to enlighten the reader to what these motives are by trying to answer the question: What motivates anime fans to visit a destination that has been used in a Japanese animated series?   The method used is a qualitative one and the thesis follows a deductive approach. Which means that theoretical theories were first presented. These were then tested in an analysis of my empirical material. The empirical data was collected from a qualitative web-based survey.     The study’s results show that the primary reasons anime fans visit an anime destination is because they love anime. It also shows that destinations and anime landscapes together with one’s identity can influence tourists travel motivations.

The effects of soy lecithin and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) concentrations used as foam stabilizers (0 – 1,50 g/100 g) and temperature values (53 – 87 °C) on levels of bioactive compounds (phenolics, carotenoids and vitamin C), antioxidant capacity and the colour measured in mango pulp were evaluated and optimized according to a multilevel factorial design (DCCR). The present study allowed the identification of the main antioxidant compounds in mango pulp such as mangiferin that can be utilized for the production of valueadded ingredients for various food applications to enhance their nutritional and antioxidant properties. Soy lecithin concentration and T had a negative effect (p < 0,05) on the phenolic content, antioxidant capacity and vitamin C, while CMC concentration had a positive effect (p < 0,05) for phenolic content and antioxidant capacity on the evaluated responses. However, the statistical analysis indicated no significant effect of variables studied (p > 0,05) on the total carotenoid and color parameters. The increasing of the total phenolics and carotenoids content observed for dried mango contributed for higher antioxidant capacity of mango pulp after foam mat drying process. This study concluded that drying temperature of 80 °C and concentration of CMC and soy lecithin of 0,30 g / 100 g are good operating parameters for increased content phenolic and carotenoids compounds and antioxidant capacity. After that, products formulated with the dried pulp in this condition were submitted at the sensory analysis, using hedonic scale and triangular testing and purchase intent. All products formulated with the dried mango pulp by foam mat drying showed higher acceptance (rate 44 %). Addition of dried mango pulp in the mousse and refresh formulation demonstrates the potential of using on the development of food rich in phenolic and carotenoids substances, adding to food product beneficial properties

Análisis de códigos no verbales en el lenguaje visual del manga japonés / Analysis of non-verbal codes in the visual language of Japanese manga

Kuwae Yabiku, Megumi Adriana 01 March 2022 (has links)
The following research aims to analyze the use of the line and screentones as non-verbal codes in the construction of a visual language in Japanese manga, whose objective is to transmit graphic expressiveness. The narrative and visual content of Japanese manga has generated a high rate of interest in Western cultures. It contains a visual language with unique characteristics that make it recognizable compared to other types of comics. That is why the authors mentioned in the research display a deep visual and narrative analysis in different graphic works, with the aim of exhibiting their method of transmitting stories, ideas or thoughts, based on non-verbal graphic elements. The results of the research showed that there is a collective understanding of the visual codes commonly used in manga, so that users related these codes to the emotion evaluated in the visual analysis. However, in the case of the screentones, the results showed that the context of a panel is necessary to conclude in the desired emotion. / Trabajo de investigación

Queer som doujinshi : En fallstudie av Yonezawa Yoshihiro Memorial Library / Queer as doujinshi : A case study of Yonezawa Yoshihiro Memorial Library

Watanabe, Yukina January 2017 (has links)
This thesis investigates how libraries can build a collection of doujinshi – Japanese fanzines – with a focus on the problematic connection between doujinshi, queer sexualities and pornography. Yonezawa Yoshihiro Memorial Library is one of the few libraries collecting and providing access to doujinshi, including those with extreme pornographic imagery. I conducted qualitative interviews with four library employees to study their views and attitudes towards collection, age regulations, shelving and classification of doujinshi. In addition, I apply queer theory to elucidate how sexual norms are reflected in the library's classification system. Findings show that informants consider the preservation of manga culture as the most important reason to collect doujinshi. Other functions of doujinshi, such as being a way for self-expression without social restrains, are also appreciated. Informants’ attitudes towards collecting and providing access to extreme pornographic doujinshi are not particularly negative, instead resisting censorship, but the fact that the library has extreme pornographic doujinshi is taken up as a reason for the library' s age limit. Moreover, I observe sexual norms surrounding women’s consumption of pornography and that women should link sex and love, and a lack of critical perspectives on such issues. Lastly, informants were open for changes of the library’s classification system for doujinshi, but showed reluctance toward user influence, such as social tagging. This is a two years master’s thesis in library and information science.

Manga : ur två olika kvalitativa forskningsperspektiv

Nyström, Bo-Göran January 2008 (has links)
