Previous issue date: 2013-05-24 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research focus on the theme of the passionate follies, conceiving them under the angle of
the feminine refusal in the maternal. Such questions are presented from the clinical history of
Rosa and from the tale, O Homem da Areia, from E.T.A Hoffmann which, in their
specificities present approximated logics. For explanation of the propositions of this paper,
through the freudo-lacanian literature, tributary relations are established between the concepts
of: maternal, focusing on the deadly face of an embodiment of pleasure; of Verleugnung in its
relationship with the maternal belief; and feminine while a position in the sexual. Regard to
this, the figure of an outline that encloses and includes a maternal body, is an aid for guiding
assumptions of this study.
The figures of the automaton and the mortified woman are presented as forms of passion.
These seek to represent the unrepresentative, what is from the real field, in the case of this
study, ways that utter an extreme passion. Conditions found in other passionate disorders in
which there is a devastation of the subject, by tapping the irreducible field of language. In this
direction, it is suggested a medical device called Fort-da literary, in which the subject can
build and translate its conflict literally.
This study draws the passionate follies as a psychopathology which points out to
contemporary social issues. From the assumption that, in those psychopathological settings,
there is a depletion of the narrative, indicating a discursive configuration similar to a
recusa do feminino no materno.
Neste, a figura
pressupostos norteadores deste estudo.
sinaliza questões do laço social contemporâneo.

From Flapper to Philosopher: F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Hidden Cultural Evaluations of American Society in “Bernice Bobs Her Hair,” “The Passionate Eskimo,” “May Day,” and “The Hotel Child”Brooks, Lesley 25 April 2014 (has links)
This thesis examines the treatment of Native American and Jewish American characters in four of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short stories: “Bernice Bobs Her Hair” (1920), “The Passionate Eskimo” (1935), “May Day” (1930), and “The Hotel Child” (1931). Little critical attention has been given to these stories even though they illustrate Fitzgerald’s awareness of the negative ramifications of culturally destructive views and an exploration of new culturally pluralistic ideas. In these stories, Fitzgerald undermines common ethnic stereotypes and demonstrates tension between the intolerance of the American public and the fear of immigrant influence. Fitzgerald is able to re-image the representation of members of these groups and show the evolution of his views on ethnicity and culture. In conclusion, this thesis argues that these stories reveal Fitzgerald’s interest in supporting some level of cultural pluralism and his need to tolerate, if not accept, the differences in the beliefs and cultures in America.

Previous issue date: 2004-02-18 / This study has the objective to investigate human violence, such as homicide, committed under
emotional or passionate states, that holds crime as a human characteristic. Throughout this theme,
the thesis states that crimes committed under these emotional states cannot be used to justify
homicide, or to lower penal sentences, but to explain them. Emotion and passion can only
eliminate penal sentences when derived from psychological pathologies that incapacitate the
understanding and wanting of the person. Crimes of passion have an integrated cognitive
conscience and affection, failing the murderer only the ethical control over his decisions. The
thesis also states that passion that kills doesn't derive from love or honor, but from a homocidal
instinct. However, the passional murderer is responsible for the legal consequences of the crime.
The case study explores the subject object world relationship, under various perspectives: such
as psychological and psychiatric points of view, being the reason why this study focuses on the
fenomenological method of diagnosing the subjects researched. The analysis of the results shows
the need to better comprehend the facts and experiences of passionate homicide, to create a
rupture in the legal penal system, in its process, diagnosis and penal sentences.
A emoção e a paixão somente
responsável pelas conseqüências jurídicas do crime.
sujeitos pesquisados.

Gender violence is a relevant problem in our society. In the more serious cases, it may lead to episodes of extreme violence: crimes of passion. Purposes: This study looked into the life and romantic relationship backgrounds of perpetrators of crimes of passion and analyzed their experiences and accounts of the events leading up to their crime. Method: We used the multiple case study procedure. We focused on three men convicted and imprisoned for the first-degree murder of their lovers. We conducted four semi-structured interviews with each convict. We also used social-demographic charts and genograms. Results: The following elements stand out from their backgrounds: they suffered physical violence in childhood, had low schooling levels, started working at an early age, remained close to their immediate families, were evangelicals, and one of them had attempted suicide after committing murder. As for their romantic relationships, we found that the killers had expectations regarding conventional gender roles, brief relationships that led to cohabitation, a history of several relationships before getting involved with their victims, and had been involved with their victims for a short time before killing them.

Integration av användare i produktutvecklingsprocessen inom skidindustrin / Integration of users in the product development process within the ski industryHolmqvist, Anton, Treutiger, Henric January 2022 (has links)
User involvement is a central part of the product development process due to its importance on how the product develops and will be received by the users. The development of free-ride skis is a very technical process that includes many complicated steps. The users are involved in many different ways within different companies. The purpose with this study is to examine how different companies go about during their product development process, when it comes to the degree of user involvement. The study also investigates how the user involvement differs between various user groups, as well as what advantages user involvement brings. A literature study was made to build a theoretical frame that underlies the work. Thereafter four minor ski-companies were interviewed. Three of the companies come from Sweden and one of them comes from Switzerland. The interviews were transcripted and codes were taken out to create a foundation to the empirics. The codes created five themes that present the result from the interviews. The five themes were: the product development process, user involvement, advantages with user involvement, disadvantages with user involvement and user involvement regarding user groups. The companies were compared against each other and against the literature to create conclusions from the study. The study concluded that user involvement is important for companies to know what users ultimately want from the product. User involvement should be started as early as possible in the process, because it creates more opportunities for adjustments than late involvement does. It is also important that the company is based on passionate employees and that the users involved are competent skiers to be able to give good feedback on the skis. The users can add much information about the feeling in the skis and what characteristics they would want in the skis but they rarely have enough information to add anything important to the technical parts such as materials of the ski.

Human rights - education and implementation in a commercial organisationChambers, Angela, not supplied January 2006 (has links)
This case study explored the process of incorporating human rights into the operation of an international commercial organisation. Constructing a dialogue to bridge the gap between human rights discourse and commercial realities, this case study identified the unique roles required to develop dialogue and created a model as a diagnostic and educational tool. The roles specific to human rights consulting, of interpreter, Champoin and Enabler afforded effective penetration into the participating industry partner's operational levels. These roles emerged from the process of constructing a human rights discourse and tensions therein where the existing theory of organisational change and consulting was found to be inadequate for human rights intervention. Based on the data of industry partner's existing practices and human rights concerns and on the process of collecting and analysing this data, the model for education and implementation was constructed. It is a flexible tool for examining human rights practices from bottom up as well as top down of an organisation. This research showed that having a comprehensive picture of the complexities involved sas an effective method of exploration and making sense of human rights education and implementation in a multinational industrial setting. The construction of the roles and of the model relied on the central premise of willingness of a multinational corporation to examine its practices and take an autonomous position of corporate citizenship and responsibility. This was consistent with the participatory research design of the study. Theretically this research challenges the appropriateness of traditional organisational change concepts when dealing with human rights; provides a diagnostic and educational tool for human rights consulting; and points to further research in this area.

Mutual Love and Attachment : A cross-sectional dyadic study exploring asymmetrical love / Ömsesidig kärlek och anknytning : En dyadisk tvärsnittsstudie om asymmetrisk kärlekNilsson, Magnus, Sandberg, Tobias January 2019 (has links)
The overarching question of the study was how common mutual love is, and to what extent attachment relates to relationship asymmetries. Four research questions and four hypotheses were posed and explored using a cross-sectional survey design with data analyzed using quantitative methods. Instruments were employed to measure passionate love, companionate love, partner value, emotional involvement and attachment. All four hypotheses found partial support. The main result show that a) asymmetries are relatively common on all scales b) mutual love means increased satisfaction, but mainly for women c) for most couples partners take turn at being the strong link, and this fluctuating dynamic leads to increased satisfaction c) attachment anxiety is related to asymmetries in romantic obsession rather than general passion d) avoidance in men relate to asymmetries in passionate love whereas avoidance in women relate to asymmetries in companionate love e) it seems common to have some form of positive illusions about whether one’s relationship is mutual or not. Finally, disagreeing about emotional involvement affects satisfaction more than actual asymmetries in love. The conclusion drawn is that honest communication is more important than mutual love.

The ‘Third Wave’ Religious Right Movement and the growth of Zimbabwean Christianity : faith or economic response?Mpofu, Sifiso January 2013 (has links)
This thesis is an historical analytical investigation and theological analysis
of the fundamental trends of the ‘Third Wave’ Religious Right Movement and
the growth of Zimbabwean Christianity. In an attempt to understand the
appealing and growth factors of this religious movement in the Zimbabwean
Church scene, the research focuses on the trends and behaviour of the
Third Wave Religious Right Movement in Zimbabwe and the critical aspect of
how this religious movement communicates the Christian faith to its
audience. A critical thrust of the study is the question of whether the
disciples of the charismatic movement are motivated by faith or economic
factors which may ultimately not be the authentic summons of the gospel of
Jesus Christ. The research addresses fears and suspicions of many
Christians who are caught up between faith and fear response to the
proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by the New Religious Right
Movements, particularly in Zimbabwe.
The hypothetical statement of this work is that there seems to be a subtle
reconstruction identity in the theology of the “Third Wave” Religious Right
Movement as is clearly manifested through the maneuverings of Christians
from the ‘traditional churches’ to these ‘newer charismatic churches in
trends which reflect the changing religious geography and the face of African
Christianity in general and Zimbabwean Christianity in particular. The
research explores the nature, impact and significance of the post – modern ‘Third Wave’ Religious Right Movement in Zimbabwean society in particular.
The identity and nature of the ‘Third Wave’ Religious Right Movement in its
historical perspective discussed by means of identifying and analyzing the
characteristics of this movement and its theological perspectives as well as
discussing the factors that promote the growth of the movement in the
context of Missio Dei (God’s Mission) and the society in general. Critical to
this type of Christianity are the images of power and prosperity which are
understood as signs of faith. The impact and effects of this type of faith
expression in the socio-political landscape is fully explored.
The primary methodology in this study is the historical critical method
complimented by oral historiography. Both primary and secondary sources
are utilized in this research in a holistic framework for analyzing the
historical trends as they unfold in the context of religious declarations and
transformations that are part of the phenomenon under investigation. The
study observes the translation model of evangelization in the unfolding
discourse of the ‘Third Wave’ Religious Right Movement.
The study ultimately reveals how people’s economic fears and hopes in the
midst of life’s challenges draw them toward religious movements which
promise to positively promote a glorious life with practical results being
realized “here and now”. This study has clearly exposed how religion,
specifically charismatic Christianity, is seen as a package of an abundant life in the context of humanity’s needs and challenges. There is a clear obsession, in the charismatic New Religious Right Movement, with wealth
and health as pedestals of salvation and a faithful Christian life.
Surprisingly, there is very little reference to moral and ethical issues from
the charismatic prophets who are the founders of these New Right
Movements. The research notes that the interests of these newer right
movements are in prosperity and health: “signs of being saved and blessed”.
Lack of economic success is blamed on demons which also causes poor
health hence the need to denounce the powers of Satan and engage on “the
heavenly gear”. Such teachings have conditioned the prospective converts to
seek after material benefits and values as critical aspects of the meaning of
salvation and the mission of Christ.
The study further reveals that the ‘Third Wave Religious Right Movement
promotes a subtle way of making disciples instead of the traditional way of
faith response to the gospel proclamation. But does this charismatic
religious life have any relevance to our human situation today? The seven
compelling chapters of this study have tackled this question and many
others, pointing the way to an authentic Christian mission that is alive and
relevant to the meaning of salvation in the context of orthodox Christianity.
This study concludes that the Church is a catalyst which carries the keys of
salvation to bring meaning and solutions to the varied human fears and
failures that characterise the temporary nature of human existence. But in
doing so; the Church must act in spirit of orthodox Christianity which is the
sine qua non of salvation. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / gm2014 / Church History and Church Policy / unrestricted

The purpose of my dissertation is to analyze and further elaborate upon its main topic: the questions that are of a mutual deep interest to both medicine and philosophy. The dissertation has three parts. In the first part, I will introduce some of the key terms that will be used throughout the text. The second part, central to my work, is concerned with three possibilities that are offered to us - play and playing, dream and dreaming, poetic being - all become the places where comprehending, listening (to both the speech and the silence) and responding materialize. Playing, dreaming, poetic being - each offers our daily reality the beauty of transcending its borders without destroying them; in fact, they become a free spirited, passionate interest that enhances and makes valuable the ordinariness and finiteness of our daily lives. Freedom and Responsibility; I and the Other Person; Illness and Hope - each having its physical aspect and each being considered through the dimensions of seriousness and unseriousness, reason and unreason - will be rethought through playing, dreaming and poetic being, providing new insights of an engaged, passionate practice of philosophy and medicine. The third part, concerned with application on the two areas - I, the Child, and the Parenthood; and the Therapist and...
