In the last decades, it has been attempted to approach the diverse areas of knowledge and to favor ample and efficient dialogues among the diverse knowledges among the different cultures which, in the case of the study of the language, it has been protruded, among others, the dialogue with religious researchers, especially in our case, with Theology. In this sense, it has been attempted to lay in dialogical relation two fields of knowledge: Enunciation Theory – on the Bakhtin Circle’s studies – and Theology, notably, New Testament (henceforth NT) Hermeneutics and Biblical Exegesis. In this regard, it has been established the following problematic: how the Bakhtin Circle’s Enunciation Theory might contribute on theoretical-analytical principles in the construction of the New Testament Hermeneutics and Biblical Exegesis? In other words, how the elements of Bakhtin Circle’s Enunciation Theory may lead the exegetes to deeper biblical exegesis and analysis on New Testament. Thus, we intend, in this research, to find out those theoretical-analytic principles and their contribution for readers/exegetes in the interpretation and comprehension of biblical utterances on a discursive-enunciative perspective. As the object of study, it was developed a qualitative research with interpretative focus through bibliographical and documental research. The corpus is constituted by two New Testament Biblical Exegesis that were elaborated by Theology Course post-graduate students. To support the research, it was resorted the Bakhtin Circle’s Enunciation Theory, principally what was studied by Bakhtin/Voloshinov (1988 [1929]) and Bakhtin (2010 [1935], 2011 [1975]), besides the contribution of works developed by Brazilian researchers such as Fiorin (2012, 2014), Francelino (2007), Sobral (2006, 2009), Faraco (2005, 2009), among others that work with researches on enunciative study of the language. Besides these theoretical support, it was used the Hermeneutic based on the assumptions of Grondin (1999, 2012), Zabatiero (2006, 2009, 2011), Vanhoozer (2005), Lopes (2007) and Sousa (2014, 2015). As a result, it was established three aspects that evidenced Bakhtin Circle’s presuppose to the construction of New Testament Biblical Exegesis: (1) the conception of the dialogic language nature, (2) the heterodiscourse as a stylistic-enunciative phenomenon, and (3) the studies of discourse genre might orient the reading practices and the biblical text interpretation, once they are the own manners of interaction of every human language activities and, thus, permit the necessary relation that (re)articulate the questions and the manner of comprehending the texts and the world/life views of symbolic practices.

Vers les accords de Taëf (1989) et la fin de la guerre civile au Liban : discours des dirigeants religieux-politiques libanais / Towards the Taif Agreement (1989) and the end of the Civil War in Lebanon : the discourse of Lebanese religious-political leaders

Layoun, Jennifer 31 October 2015 (has links)
The objective of this PhD dissertation is to study the evolution in the different discourse of political and religious leaders in Lebanon expressed in public as well as within closed circles during the fifteen years of conflict which began in 1975 and finished in 1989 with the Taif Agreement. This dissertation centers on a presentation and an analysis of the political projects proposed for Lebanon by several leading personalities coming from different political parties in the country during the period studied here. The originality of the approach is to group together two political parties which strongly oppose one another but which adopt an ideology based on shared criteria. Based on written documents as well as radio and televised programs and press conferences in addition to interviews which we have conducted in Lebanon and in France, we studied the political projects which were developed in Lebanon during 1975-1989. Our analyses reveal an evolution in the approach on the part of Lebanese religious and political persons of influence vis-à-vis their vision for the future regarding the political configuration of their country, all the while with respect to their strategic positioning in relation to the National Pact of 1943 as well as the role which they envision for themselves.

Dekonstruksie van die invloed van die sosiale diskoers "Godsdiens": 'n individuele narratief / Deconstruction of the influence of the social discourse "religion": an individual narrative

Naudé, Susanna Sophia 02 1900 (has links)
In hierdie verhandeling reflekteer ek oor my godsdiensdiskoers en die invloed daarvan op my lewe, beide as persoon en as terapeut. / In this dissertation I reflect on my religious discourse, its influence on my life and how it affects me, both as a person and a therapist. It addresses a niche in its approach to the 'silent, invisible people' whose stories are authored by the discourses of a modernistic society. My research stumbles on all kinds of problems that are generally associated with the practices of marginalisation. Acting as both client and therapist, I enter into numerous interactive conversational sessions with 'co-authors' of my story, afJ with different contexts and horizons. This process crystallises in a liberating and multi-faceted truth. The newly gained knowledge enables me to make new choices and formulate tor myself an alternative story. This study illustrates not only how narrative practices may empower the 'silent, invisible' products of a patemalistic society. It also shows how therapists may benefit from the deconstruction of their own story in both a personal and professional way. / Practical Theology / M. Th. (Pastoral Theology)

Rekindling hope: deconstructing religious power discourses in the lives of Afrikaans women

Viljoen, Hester Josephina Isabella 30 June 2003 (has links)
This qualitative action research was activated at the junction between three sites of operation of modern power: the site of the woman in the family, religious and cultural power discourses and the professional discourses of therapy. Using an action research design for this study focused the research on reaping benefits in real terms for the research participants. The researcher applied a postStructuralist, feminist and narrative approach to the phenomenon of failed personhood as manifested in the lives of two White Afrikaans women. Narrative therapy methodologiElS, steeped in a religious studies ethic were valuable guides on the therapy-as-research journeys, ensuring the exposure and deconstruction of dominant cultural and religious power discourses. In the course of the therapeutic and research journeys, various narrative therapy methodologies were used with positive effect on the life world of the participants. These methodologies included the externalisation of problems and the discovery of unique outcomes that constitute alternative, preferred life stories that contradict problem-saturated life stories of failed personhood. The research participants engaged in individual and communal conversations, relanguaging their self-narratives and religious narratives as part of the coconstruction of their preferred identities of moral agency and hope. Support networks were created for the research participants, Mara and Grace, to strengthen their new self- and religious narratives and to dislodge the power of the normative cultural and religious discourses of rugged individualism. In one instance, the researcher incorporated the healing power of South African bush veld, by inviting a group of women on a series of expeditions into the wilderness as part of Mara's journey. fn Grace's narrative, we utilised the modern technologies of the internet to connect her with a virtual response team and the Anti-Anorexia/Anti-Bulimia League. Storytelling and reflecting conversations formed the basis of the therapy-asresearch processes. The research participants extended therapy conversations beyond the therapy room, by actively participating in their therapy-as-research journeys. In line with narrative approaches, the researcher encouraged them to honour their skills and knowledges on their journeys: Mara extended her therapy by making resistance quilts while Grace assimilated her art, poetry and resistance writing into her healing process. / Religious Studies and Arabic / D. A cognitive linguistic analysis of conceptual metaphors in Hindu religious discourse with reference to Swami Vivekananda’s complete works

Naicker, Suren 11 1900 (has links)
This thesis investigates the use of metaphorical language in The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda. Vivekananda is one of the most influential modern-day Hindu scholars, and his interpretation of the ancient Hindu scriptural lore is very significant. Vivekananda’s influence was part of the motivation for choosing his Complete Works as the empirical domain for the current study. Vivekananda’s Complete Works were mined using AntConc, for water-related terms which seemed to have a predilection for metaphoricity. Which terms to search for specifically was determined after a manual reading of a sample from the Complete Works. The data was then tagged, using a convention inspired by the well-known MIPVU procedure for metaphor identification. Thereafter, a representative sample of the data was chosen, and the metaphors were mapped and analysed thematically. This study had as its main aim to investigate whether Hindu religious discourse uses metaphors to explain abstract religious concepts, and if so, whether this happens in the same way as in Judaeo-Christian traditions. Furthermore, following Jäkel (2002), a set of sub-hypotheses pertaining to ubiquity, domains, models, unidirectionality, invariance, necessity, creativity and focussing is assessed. Key findings in this study include a general confirmation of the above-mentioned hypotheses, with the exception of ‘invariance’, which proved to be somewhat contentious. The data allowed for the postulation of underlying conceptual metaphors, which differed somewhat from the metaphors used in traditional Judaeo-Christian philosophy. / Linguistics and Modern Languages / D. "Religionen, hejdå! Atheism, welcome!" : The religious self positioning and experience of RE in Sweden among recently immigrated pupils

Bergenfelz, Charlotte, Silverglimth, Fredrik January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study is to explore how recently immigrated pupils perceive religion based on two themes. The first theme deals with how these students position themselves in regard to religious traditions, and how these positions might have changed in the diaspora. The second theme deals with how the pupils experience Religious Education (RE) in Sweden. The results are based on semi-structured interviews with six recently immigrated pupils and their RE teacher. Critical discourse analysis and postcolonialism are used as theoretical and analytical approaches. The findings on the first theme indicate that most of the pupils do not see themselves as religious, and instead refer to themselves as believers, and their religious practice is characterised by a large variation. Five of the six pupils come from a muslim background, and the language these pupils use show signs of stereotyping muslims. All the muslim pupils describe a change in belief and a decrease in practice as a result of being in diaspora. The findings on the second theme indicate that the pupils generally have a positive experience of their RE in Sweden. One pupil had a negative view of the education, which was seen as a leading factor in becoming an atheist. The teaching and study materials used in the classroom were perceived as good or neutral in their depiction of islam, which does not match the findings of previous research, although some of the muslim pupils remarked on a few inaccuracies.
