Proposta de diretrizes para capacitação em liderança transformacional para os docentes do ensino superior / Proposal of guidelines for training in transformational leadership for higher education teachers

Marcos Roberto de Mendonça Pelliciari 03 July 2018 (has links)
Leadership can be defined as a set of meta-competencies of an individual that aggregates followers towards a goal. Of the leadership styles, some are more researched these days, such as: Transformational Leadership, Transactional Leadership and Laissez-faire. In the context of this work, the transformational leadership theory, which presented results beyond expectations in hundreds of articles with high impact factor, was used by the researcher (teacher of the disciplines) in order to analyze if there is a relationship between leadership style transformational learning and exceeding expectations for learners in the classroom in terms of performance, going beyond the traditional content transference in the classroom. The motivation of the study appears at a time when this area of research has rarely been explored with the higher education teacher as the leader, thus supporting the agenda of the World Economic Forum of 2015, which pointed out with third priority, the promotion of leaders in all the areas. Through the qualitative approach of the research-action research, and support of active learning methodologies, such as the Problem Based Learning (PBL) teaching method and the Learning Styles Index (ILS) and the Keirsey Temperament Classifier (KTS) , the researcher worked using strictly the transformational leadership, with the support of the meta-competencies of leadership, in eight disciplines, four of the Management course and four of the Production Engineering course in two colleges in the city of Fortaleza/CE, covering 253 apprentices in total. The indicators indicated that the leadership had a very positive impact on the groups, with results beyond expectations regarding learning, as well as performance, both by the apprentices and by the teacher. These results formalize the research proposal of this doctoral thesis, which is to propose guidelines for transformational leadership training for higher education teachers, modeling the profile used by the researcher. To do this, the researcher used the Enterprise Knowledge Development (EKD) Method, and proved the model by interviewing 3 (three) leading exponents in their areas, obtaining a positive qualitative validation of the model.

Mannikoff, Jon January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate how Learning Study can act as a model for developing collegial learning and contribute to experience-sharing between teachers in the Community School of Arts and Music. In order to investigate this, four guitar teachers at a Community School of Music has participated in a joint learning study, with the author as a researcher/facilitator. To evaluate the process and taking part of the participating teachers’ experience of learning study a method combining observation and interview was used. The result shows that by using the learning study method a kind of collegial conversations and experience-sharing was created, which the participating teachers had not experienced before. It also inspired the teachers to try new ideas in their own teaching.

Learners' experience of the integration of theory and practice in a wholesale and retail generalist (NQF Level 2) learnership

De Mink, Karen Joy January 2007 (has links)
Master Education - Med / Skills development is essential for every country to keep abreast with, at least one aspect of globalisation, namely, changes regarding production in the modern world. The way in which each country implements its skills development programme will depend on the unique history and circumstances of that country. Germany and Japan are amongst those countries that opted for a high skills strategy, whilst the United Kingdom opted for a low skills strategy. Kraak (2005) argues that South Africa would benefit by implementing a ‘multi-pronged’ skills strategy because many of its citizens are unskilled or have very low skills. This approach would cater for lowskills, intermediate-skills and continue to develop high skills. South Africa’s inputs-based education and training system has been replaced by a controversial outcomes-based approach. Many authors view an outcomes-based programme as lacking theory or content (Kraak, 1998; Young, 2004; Brown & Keep, 2000; Boreham, 2002), as reductive and mechanistic (Bates & Dutson, 1995, in Boreham, 2002) and mainly work-based and assessment-driven (Boreham, 2002). These criticisms question the quality of outcomes-based programmes. New laws promulgated by the South African government have introduced learnerships that form part of this new Skills Development strategy. This study reviewed the general policy on skills development and explored the experiences of learners who completed a Wholesale and Retail Learnership in the context of the structured college-based learning, the practical work-based learning as well as the integration of theory and practice, in South Africa. A qualitative approach was selected to enhance the researcher’s understanding of the personal perspectives and experiences of learners who completed the learnership. The case study approach was used with a focus on analysing the subjective opinions of this group of learners. The research methods employed to clarify the understanding of how these learners experienced the learnership were semi-structured interviews, observations and analysis of documents. The research shows that South Africa’s multi-level National Qualifications Framework provides for academic as well as vocational training and promotes a ‘multi-pronged’ skills strategy. The findings suggest that the learners on this learnership experienced the theoretical learning in the college and the practical learning on the job as an integrated whole. The study concludes that the structured college-based learning enabled the learners on this learnership to implement what they learnt at college in the workplace. / South Africa

Mattsson, Carin January 2020 (has links)
Background: The National guidelines stipulate that wound care is the registered nurse's area of responsibility, but usually assistant nurses perform the task. There is no hinder in legislation to entrust the task to assistant nurses, provided the care remains safe. Research shows that nurses often feel uncertain about wound care, but research on assistant nurses' experiences is lacking. The purpose: To describe registered nurses 'and assistant nurses' experiences of caring for patients with difficult-to-heal wounds in care units. Method: Semi-structured interviews with seven registered nurses and eight assistant nurses were analyzed with manifest qualitative content analysis with inductive approach. Results: Participants described that assistant nurses usually perform the wound care and that registered nurses try to follow the treatment to varying degrees, but that the time pressure constituted an obstacle to nurses' desire to be more involved. The result showed that wound care is a complex task, for which many felt they lacked sufficient competence. Support was obtained from experienced colleagues and the team around the patient, which consisted of wound specialists from the Wound Center. Conclusion: The caregiver needs to realize that the complexity of caring for patients with hard-to-heal-wounds is a challenge to patient safety and hence requires competent staff who are well prepared for the task, both through a theoretical basis and frequent practice of wound care that is granted the time actually required.

Effect of board characteristics on the sustainability performance of selected JSE listed companies in South Africa

Nakeng, Macheleng Vanessa January 2019 (has links)
Thesis (M.COM. (Accounting)) -- University of Limpopo, 2019 / This study examines the effect of board characteristics on environmental and social sustainability performance. Companies‟ sustainability performance is affected by many factors such as board composition of companies, lack of knowledge, policies and resources of companies, competition from other companies and market trends. The King IV Code of Corporate Governance recommends that the governing body should comprise a balance of diversity being race and gender and independence. Moreover, the Code states that the board of directors of companies should have a balance of both independent members and non-independent members who should act in the best interest of the companies. The study used a quantitative approach, and secondary data from Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), Socially Responsible Index (SRI) listed banking and retail companies for 11 years from 2007-2017. The study tests the relationship between board characteristics (the number of females on board of directors); firm size (market capitalisation); board independence; and environmental (energy usage) and social (skills development expenditure) sustainability of JSE SRI listed firms. Results show that there is a negative and insignificant relationship between females on board and energy usage. A positive and a significant relationship between energy usage and board independence a positive and an insignificant relationship between firm size (market capitalisation) and energy usage. There is also a positive but an insignificant relationship between skills development expenditure and female board members and a positive and significant relationship between skills development expenditure and board independence and a positive and an insignificant relationship between skills development and firm size (market capitalisation). The study suggests that for companies improve their sustainable business practices; they should consider increasing the number of v | P a ge females on their board since they have a positive influence on sustainability performance. / Risk and Vulnerability Science Centre of the University of Limpopo

Počáteční vývoj čtenářských dovedností u dětí s vývojovou dysfázií / Early reading skills in children with specific language impairment

Richterová, Eva January 2019 (has links)
Eva Richterová - Early reading skills development in children with specific language impairment This study investigated the development of early reading skills in children with specific language impairment within a psycholinguistic framework. The investigation is based on theories concerning linguistic and cognitive skills which play a crucial role in the development of reading skills. This approach is utilized to identify groups which are at risk of difficulties in literacy acquisition as a result of language impairment. Theoretical background of reading development in children with SLI is presented, in addition to current knowledge about the relationship between language and reading skills. Studies on SLI highlight the need of longitudinal investigations, which enable better understanding of the relationship between literacy development and preliteracy skills. The aim of the study was to provide a systematic description of the reading skills development in children with SLI from first to fourth Grade. A group of 25 children with SLI was repeatedly investigated in terms of their reading skills (decoding and reading comprehension) and preliteracy skills. Assessment of language and cognitive skills was also carried out and involved phonological awareness, rapid authomatised naming, and letter...

A giving and taking : A qualitative study of how first-line managers in communal home care work to motivate, develop and retain employees.

Steisjö, Elin January 2022 (has links)

: - upplevelser av kompetensutveckling på individnivå / What can training and development provide? : - Perceived effects of training and development on an individual level

Åhs, Daniel, Nyman, Emma January 2021 (has links)

Kompetensutveckling  och dess betydelse på  arbetsmotivation : En fallstudie inom ett revisionsföretag / Skills development and its importance on work motivation : A case study of an auditing company

Tegnér, Nora, Fransson, Lovisa January 2021 (has links)
De faktorer som medarbetare ansåg var av störst vikt inom en kompetensutveckling var främst personlig utveckling, att bibehålla och öka kompetensen samt få mer trygghet när de utför arbetsuppgifter / Organizations should understand the importance of employee labor as it is considered to be one of the most important components for the continued operation of the business. Human resources are the most important resource because their workforce helps companies to become competitive. It is therefore necessary for organizations to succeed in motivating their employees in order for them to be able to achieve good results at work. For this reason, it is important to study how an activity with the help of a skills development can increase employees’ internal work motivation and what it means for their internal work motivation. There is a risk that low productivity occurs when employees have a lack of motivation and employers must find an explanation for the problem. Therefore, it is important that organizations focus on investments that can increase employees’ work motivation. The study focuses on skills development as this has been shown to improve the efficiency and work performance of employees. In order to be able to answer the survey's problem formulations, the authors chose to use a qualitative method where five semi-structured interviews were conducted together with employees’ from the chosen organization. The purpose of the study was to gain an increased understanding of what employees perceive as important in a skills development and how important it is for their internal work motivation. The study’s chosen organization is an auditing company located in Jönköpings country and belongs to an industry where knowledge and competence of the employees is the most important resource. The selected department has recently undergone a competence development and therefore makes it interesting to investigate how important the competence development is for the employees’ internal work motivation. The results presented in this study shows that competence developments are of great importance for employees’ internal work motivation and that the state of psychology can change after a completed skills development effort. On the other hand, it is of great importance as an employer to know that employees are motivated by various factors and to find out this, employers can use a tool such as a development conversation. The employees considered that the factors that were most important in a skills development were mainly personal development, maintenance and increased competence and increased security when performing tasks.

The impact of internship programme on skills development in selected government departments in Limpopo Province

Mabeba, Selaelo John January 2021 (has links)
Thesis (MPA.) -- University of Limpopo, 2021 / In developing countries like South Africa, a skills shortage is already one of the most important problems of the twenty-first century. Consequently, South African public institutions have adopted an internship programme to enhance skills development, knowledge and experience, concentrating on a particular population. An internship, as established by the South African Cabinet in December 2002, is a graduate work experience programme aimed at unemployed graduates aged 18 to 35. Therefore, the study assessed the impact of the internship programme on skills development in selected government departments in Limpopo Province. Secondary to the aim, the study explored the nature of internship programme and skills development in public institutions. It also evaluated the link between an internship programme and skills development and concluded by highlighting challenges and opportunities for an internship programme. The researcher used a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, with semi-structured questionnaires for current and previous interns, to achieve the study's goals. Face to face interviewing method was used to collect data from public officials in the three selected government departments in Limpopo Province - Department of Education (DOE), Provincial Treasury, and Department of Sport, Arts and Culture. Although public institutions are regarded as hosts of internship programme, pitfalls associated with the internship programme in the South African public institutions persist. The study found, to a large extend, a huge impact of internship programme on skills development in the three selected government departments in Limpopo Province. The study further established that not all participants were clear with the job description of the internship programme. The imprecise job description could confuse interns as they would not know their expected daily performance in government departments. The study argues that such may result in displacement and a lack of sense of belonging among interns within their respective government departments. / (Services SETA)
