The general objective of this thesis, which was presented at the Graduate Program in Computer Science in Education (PPGIE), line of research computed environments and distance learning, is to analyze Critical Success Factors (CSF) associated with management elements in distance learning courses via the Internet. The specific objective is to identify CSFs in the management of resources in distance learning courses via the Internet and to propose new elements to help the management process in distance learning courses via the Internet. Management elements for distance learning (DL) were defined based on the literature and on a conjoint analysis by the author and specialists. The following management elements stood out: quality, management, infrastructure, human resources, financial resources and pedagogical model. These elements, used in the case study protocol to identify CSFs, were validated by specialists in DL and by the Distance Business Undergraduate Course of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). The research methodology is the study of multiple cases based on the Undergraduate Course in Pedagogy - Teaching (PEAD) and on the Technological Undergraduate Course - Planning and Management for Rural Development (PLAGEDER) of UFRGS. Based on the results obtained from case studies, some CSFs identified were not associated with the corresponding elements. It was also observed that one CSF is or may be related to more than one management element. In this sense, identified CSFs were rescued and regrouped into the categories of management elements. Such findings allowed a new reflection on CSFs and management elements. Based on the theoretical background, there is an existence of CSFs that, although not being identified in the study, deserve special attention. Therefore, some factors were incorporated for being related to new management elements of DL. Thus, the new elements presented to aid the management process in distance learning courses via the Internet are as follows: teaching quality, responsibility of course coordination, resource management and course pedagogical model.

Previous issue date: 2008-03-10 / CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The objective of this work is to identify the project management process areas which prevail the critical success/failure factors. In intention to understand the dynamic relationship among aspects involved in the definition and use of a productive strategy focused to the software development, it has accomplished a bibliographical revision about the Criteria of Results Evaluation and the Critical Success/Failure Factors (CSFF) of software projects. To complete this vision, a survey about CSFF based on project manager’s point of view who works in software houses installed in Manaus has been undertaken. For this, a measurement instrument, based on the Likert’s scale, has built. It has been submitted to a validation of the assertions and reliability verification process. The result of this work has been supported by the answers picked up from 47 project managers interviews distributed on 17 software houses. The evaluation of the result of the interviews has allowed to reduce 30% of the identified CSFF list on the literature, composed by 71 factors. Based on collected data, it has been possible to stratify the CSFF in critical success factors, critical failure factors, neutral factors and bivalent factors. This study has revealed that in spite of some projects managers continue noticing the areas of management of time, cost and quality as the base of the success, the final result has showed that the process areas capable to cover most of CSFF (70%) are the communication management, the human resource management and project integration management. The conceived results through the dichotomy contrast among theory versus practical and opinion versus attitude formed the base of the new project management approach proposal which has been sustained in the called Triple Strength.

The object of study was preparing a full structural model of the factors that influence the success of the PMO acting and that this positive performance would bring benefits for project management in the Eletrobras System and from this, carry out an improvement of the structural model through methods Statistical. For it was conducted a field survey (survey) in order to collect data with professionals involved in Project Management within the Eletrobras System, from the proposed model and were shown the success factors in the performance of the PMO (Project Management Office) which enable the project management office become a vector of management excellence by the company. To achieve the idealized goal, there was (a) Bibliographic survey to conceptualize project management and PMOs, (b) identified the factors that influence the PMO acting success, (c) identify the theoretical approaches of the factors direct that contribute most to the PMO Eletrobras can act as a vector management par excellence, optimizing the increased efficiency of its operations and success in project management. It was found that theoretical approaches, from the PMO acting success, bringing benefits to the Project management in the Eletrobras System. Thus, to perform statistical work for the evaluation of the adequacy of the model, SPSS Statistics software was used, for the implementation of EFA (Exploratory Factor Analysis), seeking to test the model based on the theory presented previously. 116 valid responses were obtained filled by employees with involvement in project management in the Eletrobras System. Earlier the theoretical model was composed of twenty theoretical approaches and three independent factors. After the stages of SEM, seventeen approaches was obtained and two independent factors, other than this model. With this, the H1 and H2 hypotheses were not rejected because they presented with significant factor (P <0.05). The hypothesis H3 had to be excluded, as their theoretical approaches the AFE comprised a single set with the hypothesis H2, whereas Matrix Total Variance Explained proved to be the most adjusted model with only two factors. All analyzes were validated by Cronbach's alpha.

Management Information System Challenges, Success key issues, Effects and Consequences: A case study of FENIX SystemKornkaew, Artit January 2012 (has links)
During the growth of a competitive global enviroment, there is considerable pressure on most organisations to make their operational, tactical, and strategic process more efficient and effective. An information system (IS) is a group of components which can increase the competitiveness and gain better information for decision making.Consequently, many organisations decide to implement IS in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their organisations. However, a lack of awareness of numerous and varied challenging issues surrounding the implemenation process could be problematic for the whole process. Furthermore, the problem of a lack of key success issues seems to be a serious obstacle for the management information system (MIS) implementation process. Additionally, MIS implementation has effects on an organisation and these effects are related to the consequences of the business processes. Consequently, this issue is critical and crucial for an organisation to consider when they implement a new MIS. The main purpose of this thesis is to present the MIS implementation challenges or problems together with identifying the key issues to successfully achieve implementation. Such challenges and success factors are conducted based on a research framework. In addition, this research accesses descriptions of implementation effects and consequences which impact the organisation and its processes. This thesis has been conducted by studying the theory divided into three parts including:general background literature of information systems, implementation aspects, and organisational impacts literature. The methods that were used to successfullly accomplish this study were a case study of Fenix System, collecting data by personal interviews with respondents who were involved in Fenix along with internal documents. The analysis of the research framework and empirical findings has contributed to adescription of the main challenges and key success issues regarding MIS implementation, together with an identification of important effects and consequences when implementing MIS. This thesis’s main results show that MIS implementation issurrounded with challenges which mainly concern management, adminsitration, and people issues involved in MIS implementation process. Additionally, it was concluded that the key issues which the MIS implementation project should be presented with primarily focused on the project team and their team work. The last main finding is concentrated on effects and consequences and it found out that MIS implementation mainly affects business process which lead to change, for instance jobs, routines, and so forth.

Elevers uppfattning om svenskämnet i årskurs 3 på gymnasiet / Students’ perception of the Swedish subject in the third year of upper secondary schoolTehrani, Ingela January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to investigate students’ perceptions of the content in the Swedish subject and current syllabus for Swedish in the third year of upper secondary school. The purpose has also been to analyze if students are familiar with the aims they are working towards, how explicit they are and if they have any significance for the students’ results and motivation. This investigation is based on a socio-cultural perspective and was made with help of a quantitative method by using questionnaires, but has also been studied to some extent qualitatively, which have been analyzed from a student angle. The analysis of the results shows that the students have very good perception of what they should study in Swedish year three in upper secondary school. The students have also relatively good knowledge about learning presented by teachers, and that the aims are presented in the beginning of the course. In addition to this, the study shows other important elements that influence students’ results and motivation, such as teachers’ competence, their ability to teach and engage the students and the relationship between teacher and student. The conclusion is that teachers in their interaction with students should be more concrete and distinct, when presenting the aims anchored in the current curriculum. They also need to adapt contents and methods to students’ capacity, in order to motivate students and promote their ambition to get higher results and grades. Finally, this is required to reverse the declining trend in Swedish school results.

Samverkan mellan IT och verksamhet - Ett IT-styrningsperspektiv / Aligning IT and business - An IT governance perspectiveStomberg, Daniel January 2014 (has links)
Todays businesses are experiencing a tougher market and for their long-term survival the need for their various parts to work as a whole is becoming increasingly important. Alignment is an essential piece of what constitutes a successful business. From a strategic perspective IT governance play a big part in this success. IT governance is one of several components necessary to achieve what is called IT/Business alignment and has therefore an important role to play in making this alignment work. This study takes a closer look at IT governance and its contribution to IT/Business alignment. Through a qualitative approach, consisting of six in-depth interviews, 15 success factors and 15 challenges existing within IT governance have been identified. How these factors affect IT governance and its ability to contribute to the alignment between IT and business will be presented in this paper. With the aid of the PDCA management model these factors will be presented and accounted for in a clearer and more accessible way. The results produced in this study will provide valuable knowledge about existing success factors and challenges within IT governence. This knowledge can be used by businesses to achieve successful IT governance, which in an extension also contributes to satisfactory IT/Business alignment.

An implementation of an IT system is a socio-technical change that places many demands on the organization if the implementation is to be considered successful. There are challenges of both the technical, social and organizational nature. Descriptions of the implementations that were perceived as successful often refers to common factors that contributed to the successful implementation, so-called success factors. The purpose of this work is to obtain knowledge about those factors and how they can affect system implementations in municipal organiza-tions. In this work those so-called success factors are identified based on theory and studies of practical circumstances in organizations. The factors are examined and knowledge about them is gathered and presented. This work is conducted using a qualitative interview study of two organizations in two small municipalities with large experience on system implementations. The interviewed persons have varying roles in the organizations and different experiences of implementations. The results are the respondents' perceived views, experiences and comments on implementations regarding such as system usability, leadership, training and commitment. This work presents factors perceived to have contributed to the success, for example the lead-ers support and commitment, technical stability and user participation. The main conclusions of this work include that a number of success factors that are described in studies from other types of organizations can even be found in municipal organizations. Factors that affect the implementations success are found in fields that regards organization, qualifications, systems applicability and the systems users. There are different methods for evaluation, and different definitions of success, therefore they are not general shortcuts to success, but rather a base for the work before, during and even after the systems implementation. The specific circum-stances of each system implementation and organization overall strategy for system and busi-ness development may vary and influence the factors' effects.
