Marknadsföring av artister på Instagram

Azadi, Ardalan, Lorentzi, Ebba January 2019 (has links)

The reproducibility of incomplete skulls using freeform modeling plus software

Gentiluomo, Gina Marie 12 March 2016 (has links)
As early as 1883, forensic artists and forensic anthropologists have utilized forensic facial reconstruction in the attempt to identify skulls from decomposed remains. Common knowledge dictates that in order to complete identification from the skull with facial reconstruction, the splanchnocranium (also known as the viscerocranium or facial portion of the skull) needs to still be intact. However, there has been very little research conducted (Colledge 1996; Ismail 2008; Wilkinson and Neave 2001) to determine the minimal amount of intact skull that can be present for a reconstruction to still be possible and accurate. Accordingly, in the present study, the researcher attempted to prove that a skull with significant damage to the splanchnocranium could be repaired and facially reconstructed to bear a likeness to the original skull and face. Utilizing FreeForm Modeling Plus Software, version 11.0 (Geomagic Solutions - Andover, MA), in conjunction with the Phantom Desktop Haptic Device (Geomagic Solutions - Andover, MA), five CT scans of males between 19 and 40 years old and of varying ethnicities (four Caucasian and one Asian) were digitally altered to present significant skull damage to the splanchnocranium. The hard tissue digital images were repaired using the same software mentioned above and template skulls (i.e., superfluous CT scanned skulls of similar age, sex, and ancestry). The soft tissue digital images were facially reconstructed also utilizing the same software mentioned above and by following basic tissue depth charts/placement rules and guidelines for feature reconstruction. The reconstructed images were compared to their original CT scans in a side-by-side comparison. Assessors were given a rating scale rubric to fill out that asked them specific questions pertaining to both certain facial features and overall similarity between the original and reconstructed images. Two of the reconstructions each ranked an overall 29% "close resemblance" to their original counterparts, one was ranked an overall 71% "no resemblance" to its original counterpart, and the other three fell somewhere in the middle ("slight" or "approximate") in the rating scale. The results reflected a number of issues related to this project (i.e., the researcher's lack of artistic skill) and to facial reconstruction in general (i.e., tissue depth measurement charts) and showed that while it is not impossible to reconstruct skulls that had been damaged in some capacity, the accuracy of the resulting facial reconstruction is questionable. Future studies would benefit from using an artist to reconstruct the images rather than someone with little to no experience in the field, a larger sample size consisting of one ancestry to avoid the cross-race effect, a comparison of the original skull to the repaired one utilizing Geomagic Qualify (Geomagic Solutions - Andover, MA) to glean an overall view of the project's accuracy, and utilization of a photo lineup as the method of comparison in addition to a side-by-side comparison to give a more realistic feel to the comparison process.

The formation of an African American artist, Hughie Lee-Smith, from 1925 to 1968

Wilson, Alona 09 November 2016 (has links)
This dissertation significantly expands our knowledge of the biography and artistic contributions of Hughie Lee-Smith (1915–1999), an African American artist. I argue that between 1925 and 1968 Lee-Smith’s personal, educational, and professional experiences within the context of Jim Crow America and the Cold War era influenced the style and content of his figurative work and his opportunities for success. Throughout the dissertation, I examine his inspirations from art history and position his works alongside those of his contemporaries to show that his paintings are based on observations, artistic influences, and imagination. The dissertation’s four chapters are organized around Lee-Smith’s experiences of living during these decades in Cleveland, Detroit, and New York. Chapter one examines his early years (1925–1940) in Cleveland, Ohio, after he relocated from the South to join his mother. He learned to acquire the necessary skills in art, experienced enthusiastic civic and private philanthropic support, and developed a personal philosophy about the ability of art to build a better society. Chapter two moves to Detroit (1941–1950) and considers his commitment to family life, naval service, and further training in art. I examine his role in the radical labor movement and his naval service in nearby Chicago, along with his art activities to promote social change and racial equality. Focusing on the later Detroit years (1950–1958), Chapter three merges the social history of Jim Crow, Detroit’s urban renewal programs, anti-communist scares, and HUAC hearings with an analysis of the imagery of Lee-Smith’s urban and seaside paintings to indicate the psychological tensions he experienced. Chapter four analyzes the impact of his relocation to New York City (1958–1968), a successful transitional period of his life during which he was buoyed by the Civil Rights Movement and gained the recognition he had sought. The Epilogue considers Lee-Smith between 1968 and 1999. By interpreting Lee-Smith’s art within an intimate, extensive biography, we see his world shaped by America’s history of race, poverty, and disenfranchisement. When the parallel histories of America and African America are analyzed together, the meaning of America and American art becomes enlarged and enriched.

Inside Artist/Teacher Burnout

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: ABSTRACT Stress and burnout in the educational field primarily in teaching is not a new phenomenon. A great deal of research and analysis to the contributing factors of causation to teacher burnout has been executed and analyzed. The struggle of the artist/teacher, hybrid professionals that maintain two concurrent roles, offers a perspective to burn out that has gone unnoticed. The conflict of roles for the artist/teacher does not infer that the teacher role is incapable of reconciling with the artist role but because of this unique scenario the stories of art teachers and burnout often go unheard. Today's public educator is contending with established stress factors as well as emerging and evolving stress factors. How does this phenomenon impact the artist/teacher's ability or inability to be creative? What are the implications of burnout and its impact on artist/teachers personal and professional work? This qualitative study was conducted using Narrative/Autoethnograpy, Narrative/Ethnography and A/r/tography. The stories of four artist/teachers provides in-depth accounts of their experiences as teachers and how that profession has affected their art making process and well being. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Curriculum and Instruction 2012

O retorno aos bastidores : envelhecer no retiro do artista riograndese

Brito, Sergio da Costa January 2005 (has links)
This work searchs to analyze the ways of the aging of the resident aged artists in Retiro do Artista Rio-Grandense de Porto Alegre, trying to understand the tensions between its memories of work in the art and its current circumstances of life. The theoreticiantechnician referencial used is Analysis of Speech of the French school in the approach considered by Dominique Maingueneau. The used parts of text for this analysis were withdrawn from interviews with three living aged artists of this institution, with ages between the 62 and 76 years. It was broken of four thematic axles to make the description/interpretation of the speech produced by the profile composed by the research citizens: the aged being and the process of aging, the removal of the professional artistic work, the life in the institution and the look at the past, the present and the wait of the future. The detected, described and interpreted sense effects from the research corpus, formed for the detached parts of speech, had shown that the institutional proposal of the house, although to answer to a social necessity to shelter devoid aged artists, does not reach to fill its proposal to offer to the users a space to contact with themselves after an afflicted personal and work life, that resulted in an oldness in poverty. The diverse factors of stress and emotional difficulties of the inhabitants display them to conflicts in the domain of tying. The abilities developed in the experience of a life work as artists are used at present as strategies of confrontation of the related factors. The diversity of particular impressions on the net of inhabitants and on the institution itself by citizens proves the particularly singular nature of the aging process.

Krug, Rosana January 2011 (has links)
The present dissertation aims to demonstrate perceptive singularities of different subjects by the observation of the relations between materials selected, production procedures and spacial choices for their presentation, in visual art, viewing perception as the complex of all body senses. The theorical references relate Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Gaston Bachelard’s Perception and Matter Phenomenology to Algirdas Julien Gremas’ Semiopticts of the Senses and Eric Landowski studies, as well as focuses the aesthetic paradigms of Western art, associating them to the sensorial callings in the artist book making in its interaction potential with the public, and as hybrid object in contemporary art. The dissertation has, as methodologic referential, the qualitative research with description and data analysis of the study of two cases that regard the interaction between body and matter in the creative process and production of artist books by art teachers, that took place in a workshop designed for this data collection, at Feevale University. The analysis verified the aesthesis and sinesthesis present in the creative process of each studied case, concluding that each subject gives priority to one of the five body senses, acompanied by a second body sense, as their processes and products demonstrated. One of the studied cases showed the priority of the sense of touch over the visual one; the other case, however, demonstrated that the visual choices were more important, followed by tactile ones. The workshop final productions brought to discussion the differences between an artist book and an object book, which brought a dilemma regarding their delimitations, as they were tending to belong to the installation category. In my opinion, the study of perception, considering the five senses and the perceptive particularities of each subject, emphasizes the significance of the combination of sensitivity and intellect in the p

Souza, Anderson Luiz de January 2015 (has links)
This research deals with the drawing and draw with lines in the field of Education and the Arts in view of the difference of philosophy, and thinks with the life of the teacher-artist who is one who experiences the draw both in the classroom / life professorial as in your life of artist / creator. It takes as problem issues that lead to think, how to produce leaks in the representation of the human figure drawing to create making use of drawing techniques. So has the objective to create with drawing, with the intention of showing how to make use of events, accidents, mistakes and disasters like power to create. Thus, they seek to invest in methodological experimentation creating / thinking with lines, both in writing and in drawing. There is talk of “with” to think / create with their own lines that are produced in experimental processes. Be with Drawing lines, forming, volume, texture when composing figures that do not hold in models or idealized representations. These lines used in the creation of drawings that are not human figures, but that may suggest parts of the human body images. Also, with writing lines, to produce poetic written together with drawing lines, taking into account that writing in this experimentation process also comes to design drawing. All of this, produce drawings named in this research as body figure. In addition the text of this research made of lines that are crossing, intertwine, are interwoven, missives lines, invented and / or dissertative. Create / Think / Try this search is with the notion of intercessors of Gilles Deleuze, and other of his texts, producing in meetings with various works of Francis Bacon, Giacometti and Van Gogh, some planks of Frank H. NeWtter, Sandra Corazza , Paola Zordan, among others. With that consist drawings named in this research as Figure body. So with the draw itself in contact with the materials chosen for the preparation of the drawings, it is made with these different lines, a becoming-weaver. Figures are woven body with trace of diagrammatic lines, nomadic routes on territories that zigzag between landscapes sometimes family, sometimes unknown, creating and been creating with the paths of drawing-write / write-draw.

Paisagens permeáveis

Monteiro, Emanuel dos Santos January 2015 (has links)
Paisagens permeáveis it is a research about drawing from which rises a discussion about the way of looking at closess spaces (space of the house) that unfold over distances of outer space (backyard, nature), considering the material aspect of these situations. I call dialectic of space, this movement of interpenetration that is given from the look, and that runs through, as a concept and problem to be solved in the image environment, all the works presented here. The dialectical relationship between the near and the distant present in the preparation of images, combined with employed materiality and its apparent tactility, and the work of resorting to personal memories, family and finally, the memories of the matter of their own works, gives birth to permeable images that formulates landscape.

Caldas, Felipe Bernardes January 2013 (has links)
The theme of this work is the art market in Porto Alegre between the decades of 1990 and 2000, focusing on what we call contemporary art market. Its approach is on the primary producer, in other words, the artist. I.e., in the triad "producer, middlemen and consumers", the adopted perspective is centered on the producer. It is aimed at finding out and understanding the various goods produced and marketed by the artists, as well as their insertion in a labor market. Thus, this research is not limited to considering only the process of buying and selling works, but it aims to understand how artists participate in a production and a marketing process between 1990 and 2012 in Porto Alegre. For such understanding, it constitutes an interdisciplinary research between art, sociology and economics, having as theoretical basis Pierre Bourdieu, Domenico de Masi, Michael Hardt, André Gorz and Maurizio Lazzarato. The research has three strands. The first one, via interviews with agents from the local field (artists, collectors, gallery owners, curators, university professors). The second one, through a survey available and disseminated via the Internet, which sought to reach the largest possible number of local agents. The third one, through literature reviews on the structure and history of an art system and its market in Porto Alegre. Thus, this proposition discusses the status of the artist inserted into an artistic, productive and marketing system and their means of acquisition of financial, symbolic and permanence capital in the field.

Fischer, Deborah Vier January 2014 (has links)
This thesis has as an empirical study a certain private school in Porto Alegre, RS (School Project), which includes contemporary art into its curriculum as well as invites artists to build this partnership work. The bulk of this thesis is devoted to looking at what the moves that this way of thinking art instigate teachers and visual artists who venture to jointly live school and education, reasoning and wondering practices which are naturalized and accommodated by time and use. Thinking strangeness in teaching practices, instigated by contemporary art provocations, suggests an approach to the notion of discourse, having Michel Foucault as the main theoretical framework. Discourse that emerges from conversations and interviews with research subjects that are analyzed within the discursive field that these conversations involve, namely, art and education. Moves and discourses are subjects of interest to this research as they act in order to look at the practices taken as minimal or rough (basiquinhas), a term used by one of the research subjects, and contribute to think against of the grain of accommodation and generalization, as present in the way school has historically constituted. As this thesis discusses art and teaching, finding junction and conflict points between artistic and pedagogical doings, terms such as strictness, creation and participation are analyzed from these two standpoints. When looking at these junctions, focusing on the possibility of modification, creation and sharing exercises, gains strength the concept of artist teaching profession (docência artista), presented by Luciana Loponte, in relation to an artist teacher training (formação docente artista), a term born in this research which refers to an infected training, soaked and accompanied by close contact with contemporary art, able to review the most secure relationships on teaching and learning in the arts and beyond. Thus, more than seeking results or pointing solutions, this thesis aims at investing: in teaching, with its inquiries and strangeness; in school, with its ability to educate without consolation; in contemporary art, with its opening to cause disruptions and to destabilize the thought. It is, therefore, matches between teaching, school and contemporary art that this thesis develops, acquires intensity and power.
