Jönköpings Bronsåldershögar : En landskapsanalys av monumentala bronsåldershögar i södra Vätterbygden / Burial Mounds of Jönköping : A landscape analysis of monumental bronze age graves in the Southern Vättern area

Karlberg, Dennis January 2023 (has links)
In Jönköping there exists today three visible and still standing barrows from the bronze age.In the beginning of the 20th century these numbered 10. Some findings från the bronze age inthis area like the Sagaholm-barrow have garnered a lot of attention by researchers, but fewlandscape analyses havebeen performed over the area. In other parts of the country landscapeanalyses have been performed across much larger areas, and these have gotten interpretationssuch as markers of territory based on the visual aspects of these monuments. This thesisanalyses the bronze age landscape in Jönköping based on sightlines with the aid of GIS, andwith the goal to explore the relationship between the monumental graves and other visibleaspects of the landscape in order to try and reach an understanding as to why these arestanding where they are. The results of the analysis show that visibility likely wasn’t anespecially important factor in raising the graves, but that a correlation regarding intervisibilitycan be suspected. Furthermore the thesis shines light on a few sources of critique with theavailible shoreline models, as well as the digital data on ancient remains.

”Jag har hatat mig själv”: : En etnografisk studie av influencers porträttering av psykisk ohälsa på Instagram / "I´ve hated myself": : An ethnographic study if influencers portrayal of mental illness on Instagram

Selling Falk, Ida, Marklund, Andréa January 2021 (has links)

Transferred Invisibilities and Stigmatization : A Qualitative Research on the Engagement of Humanitarian Organizations with Syrian LGBTQI+ People in Turkey

Togay, Özge January 2020 (has links)
Humanitarian action faces challenges in engaging with LGBTQI+ people. Research has shown that humanitarian response to LGBTQI+ people are solely studied on the issues around resettlement, migration and legal protection of LGBTQI+ people. This study aims to provide a critical analysis to engagement practices of humanitarian actors with LGBTQI+ people in Hatay, Turkey. In order to explore this engagement, this study asks the role of humanitarian actors in identifying the LGBTQI+ community, the strategies used by the humanitarian actors to support the LGBTQI+ community, the consequences of humanitarian professions’ actions in Hatay, Turkey. This research is based on empirical findings of six semi-structured interviews conducted with LGBTQI+ people and humanitarian professionals. The most significant finding of this study is that humanitarian organizations refrain particularly from engaging with LGBTQI+ people because of the existing primary frameworks between LGBTQI+ people and Syrian community, and also between the Government of Turkey and humanitarian organizations. This leads to increased invisibilities, re-stigmatization and dissociation of LGBTQI+ people from the society.

Out of sight – out of mind? : About visibility in converged institutions and how attention is drawn to the work and contribution of archives in museum exhibitions

Bellemo, Ida January 2022 (has links)
There are reasons why archival material used by museums as sources for information in their exhibitions, rarely is shown as such for the museum visitor. Some limitations lie in the physical nature of the archives themselves; others could easily be avoided. The purpose of this essay is to shed light on how archives can collaborate with museums to be seen in their exhibitions. This has been done, among other things, by investigating what the driving forces are for collaboration. Theoretical starting points for the study have been Bourdieu's cultural capital and organizational theories about why institutions tend to mimic each other. Themes within an extensive literature review highlight the extent of the complexity of the subject, and case studies of four already converged archives in museums, clearly indicate that collaboration has not given the archives the visibility they seek. They have invested their cultural capital without receiving sufficient reward in exchange.  This is a two years master's thesis in Archival science.

A novel intrusion detection system (IDS) architecture. Attack detection based on snort for multistage attack scenarios in a multi-cores environment.

Pagna Disso, Jules F. January 2010 (has links)
Recent research has indicated that although security systems are developing, illegal intrusion to computers is on the rise. The research conducted here illustrates that improving intrusion detection and prevention methods is fundamental for improving the overall security of systems. This research includes the design of a novel Intrusion Detection System (IDS) which identifies four levels of visibility of attacks. Two major areas of security concern were identified: speed and volume of attacks; and complexity of multistage attacks. Hence, the Multistage Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (MIDaPS) that is designed here is made of two fundamental elements: a multistage attack engine that heavily depends on attack trees and a Denial of Service Engine. MIDaPS were tested and found to improve current intrusion detection and processing performances. After an intensive literature review, over 25 GB of data was collected on honeynets. This was then used to analyse the complexity of attacks in a series of experiments. Statistical and analytic methods were used to design the novel MIDaPS. Key findings indicate that an attack needs to be protected at 4 different levels. Hence, MIDaPS is built with 4 levels of protection. As, recent attack vectors use legitimate actions, MIDaPS uses a novel approach of attack trees to trace the attacker¿s actions. MIDaPS was tested and results suggest an improvement to current system performance by 84% whilst detecting DDOS attacks within 10 minutes.

Writer/Reader Visibility in EFL Writing : A Corpus-based Analysis of Young Swedish Students' Writing Development

Mwangi, Francis January 2024 (has links)
This corpus-based study explores writer-reader visibility (WRV) features in the writing by young Swedish learners of English. Specifically, using Petch-Tyson’s (1998) framework, this study examines the use of WRV features in essays written by young Swedish learners in lower and upper secondary school, and compares their use to that of Swedish university-level learners. The findings align with Hasund and Hasselgård’s (2022) observation based on young learners that “the tendency to be visible writers starts early” (p. 19). Yet, as the writing proficiency or experience of this learner population increases, their visibility decreases by relying less on WRV devices. This study contributes to the understanding of how young learners’ use of WRV features in their writing develops and provides insights into writing instructions for young learners of English.

[en] AUTHOR 2.1: DIGITAL MEDIA AND VISIBILITY / [pt] AUTOR 2.1: MÍDIAS DIGITAIS E VISIBILIDADE

ELOISE PORTO FERREIRA 13 May 2020 (has links)
[en] This work intends to investigate some forms of participation of authors, readers and critics in digital media, especially on social network media, as part of the process of gaining visibility, and the consequences of this participation. In order to consider these instances of participation, we will analyze both the theorical concepts related to our inquiry as well as publications that may be found in cyberspace, analyses of social network profiles from YouTube, Instagram, participation in book clubs, among others. The curiosity about an author s life, as proposed by Philp Lejeune, is not a new concept in the area of literature studies. However, nowadays, sometimes we may confuse an author s life with what he/she publishes in his/her social media or mix up the authorship with the person itself. The way that the author presents himself/ herself in cyberspace can be crucial for his/her visibility beyond his work. Authors, however, are not the only actors that we may find in play in cyberspace: along, we may also consider the arising of reader s presence. In the context of reader s presence alongside the author in this environment, we still need to ask ourselves the role of the criticism in these transformations that are a consequence of the emergence of these technologies.

Inventory level Visibility : Reasons Causing Lack in Service Field Operations / Lagernivåsynlighet : Anledningar till Brist i Servicefältverksamheter

Muhr, Sandra January 2020 (has links)
Visibility refers to availability of information in real-time to requiring actors so that strategy and operations can be monitored, controlled and changed. A symptom of lack of visibility in inventory management is when information in IT systems does not accurately match what is present in the physical inventory. While there are studies in the area of scientific literature documenting reasons for inventory inaccuracy, a literature gap exists for inventory accuracy in relation to service field operations. This study's objective is therefore to examine what reasons are causing lack of inventory visibility in service field operations and which affected KPI are the most impacted by this lack. The study was designed as a case study at an industrial tools and equipment manufacturer, featuring observations and interviews. A visibility assessment approach to extract affected KPI was also applied. The results found that reasons causing lack in service field operations stem from how company IT systems are designed and in how accurately information is entered by employees in said IT system. It further found that a service technicians' years of service influences the inventory accuracy of their van inventory. Unclearly defined areas of responsibility and accountability were further found to contribute to lack of inventory visibility. The most affected KPI impacted were found to be Inventory in % of COGS and Provision in % of inventory, the reasons being that a lack of visibility leads to higher inventory levels and an increase in provisions.
