Previous issue date: 2012-12-17 / Given the existence of a new social "scenario", where they constitute technological
advances, cultural changes and behavior of the subjects, this study turns to the
construction of social identity of individuals men and women, by the advertising
discourse, under the production conditions of post modernity. During this period, the
subjects see themselves in a moment of "instability of identity," in which social
functions are no longer well defined. One of the factors that change is the entry of
women into the labor market, which caused the "crisis of the patriarchal family," the
fall occurring social identities culturally crystallized. The advertising discourse plays a
fundamental role in the production and circulation of meanings, which refer to how
men and women - are seen by postmodern society. From there, under the theoretical
support of Discourse Analysis, proposed by Pecheux (2010a), Orlandi (2007a),
(2007b), (2008), etc. and authors alike, we aim to research, investigate how the
language of advertising works, to represent the "new" social identities in / post
modernity. Therefore, the corpus consists of ten advertisements, selected national
magazines, targeted at different audiences and different products or services
advertisements. About the media, advertising and post-modern society, and linking
them to the creation of social identities in advertisements, mobilized authors as
McQuail (2003), Carvalho (1996, 2000), Castells (1999a, 1999b), among others. In
the current analysis, we focus on the imaginary formations as production process of
advertising discourse, in which the subject-enunciator anticipates the image of
himself and his interlocutor, in preparing the speech, promoting the representation
and identification of individuals men and women. The effects of meaning are
produced from the intersection of the intradiscourse interspeech, showing the
materiality discursive (verbal and imagery), the work of the linguage and in it, the
inscription of history. Therefore so many times, by the effect of "pre-built", the
ideological affiliations return intradiscourse does that refer to the patriarchal society,
which "returns" to the subjects postmodern traditional social identities. Finally, we
found that there were significant changes with the regard of the construction of social
identity of men and women, and are currently represented in a "multifaceted" and
"ephemeral" by advertising discourse. Thereby, while it is "registered", also happens
to "repetition" of social and cultural identities crystallized, having thus a kind of return
to the same, and the already-said / Diante da existência de um novo cenário social, onde se configuram avanços
(1996, 2000), Castells (1999a, 1999b), dentre outros.

The Modernity and the Post-modernity, in yours antagonisms, produced legitimations speeches to projects wich dislocate, one in relation other, yours senses. All what move it in this scene, carry on with yourself and embat it with te ambiguities and apories that in there happened. This way, therefore, developed it the Modern Science, dilated your fields, legitimating news speeches one moment by vicarity, the next by alterity and the next using the paralogy like resource. This is the case of the Science of the Communication what then transition vicarity/alterity searched legitimations speechesin theories who substantive your autonomy. Between they is the Theory of Reception and/or Theory of Mediation, how goes being called. In Jesús Martín-Barbero, the studies of reception found force to turn the science of the Communication into doesnt only a scientific speech legitimated, but too to support a project of autonomy of thought latin american. Building our object, Dos meios às Mediações, of Martín- Barbero who referances the daring project that the Communication take to it, bring, however, a whole series epistemologic problems in the night map designed by him and that need of revision, cause support the methodologies emploied today in labs of research what take the reception on like your way. / During many years of reading practice and among several classical or contemporaneous books, a predominance of heterosexual narrators and characters of the male sex was noticed. Contrary to this androcentricity in literary world, reality shows itself multiple. Considering this, two questions were made: Where will character diversity be represented? More specifically, where will the diversity of homosexual characters be represented? To answer these questions, this study aimed to investigate how some characters of the novels O beijo da mulher-aranha (1981), Stella Manhattan (1985) e Do fundo do poço se vê a lua (2010) articulate body and territory themes to construct an enunciative sexuality coexistence capable of avoiding the “heteronarrative” pattern. It was also intended to understand how sexuality is represented both at context and expression levels in the books mentioned above. The fact that the three main characters, respectively, Molina, Eduardo and Wilson are homoaffectionate and go through processes of unterritorialization and reterritorialization in their respective spaces of coexistence, whether they are fixed ones or within mobility processes is important to highlight. Literature as catharsis space and expression of social reality is able to demonstrate constant violence which threatens those who differ from heterosexual standard rules. Therefore, the purpose of this coursework was to contribute to discussions on the matter and mainly bring gender violent to light. It must be pointed out that even in this violent context, the arts, particularly, theater, movies and dance are the characters means of resistance and counterpoint against heterosexual system. The current study followed a structure based on methodological guidelines which suggest two work stages: theoretical and desk research. Therefore, it follows that the three books stem from a heterosexual matrix to tell homosexual stories, in which, with the presence of art and their double psyches, Molina, Eduardo and Wilson are in a constant becoming process. And in there “midfrontiers” coexistences in either places, it one them becomes one and only.

[en] THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY: SKATEBOARDING INDUSTRY`S GRAPHIC DESIGN / [pt] O BOM, O MAU E O FEIO: O DESIGN GRÁFICO DA INDÚSTRIA DO SKATETIAGO CAMBARA AGUIAR 11 August 2008 (has links)
Assim, a
[en] The graphic design with singular language developed in the
skateboarding industry is the object of study of this
dissertation, which tries to define its peculiarities and
which factors determine them. The objective of the inquiry
is to study, through a selected bibliography, graphic
analysis of the collected material and interviews, the
context from which this graphic language was created and how
did it get established, based on the premise that the
conjucture in which skateboarding is practiced is
responsible for the formation of a skateboarders` own
profile, expressed through this graphic design. So, the
observation of the skaters` profile and the daily life of
this sport`s practice allowed doing associations with
the characteristics found in the graphic designs of the
products of this industry and then to understand the
reasons why its symbolism was created and the artistic
styles were chosen. The inquiry also sets an analogy up
between the organization of the skateboarders in an
independent group and the creation of an artistic and
intellectual autonomous field, conformable defended by
Pierre Bourdieu. This analogy makes easy the understanding
of the intense connection that exists between skate and
art, shown up, between other things, for the quality of the
graphic design connected with this sport.

[en] A FLOWER BREAKS THROUGH ASPHALT: HOPE IN CONTEMPORARY CINEMA / [pt] UMA FLOR ROMPE O ASFALTO: A ESPERANÇA NO CINEMA CONTEMPORÂNEOANA PAULA DAUDT DE LIMA BRANDAO 20 April 2016 (has links)
[en] Modernity is a complex, multifaceted concept that has as its mainstay the
belief in human progress through Reason. Therefore, it was a breeding ground for
various utopias, which were expected to materialise with the progress of history.
In this process, the cinema – art born among the moderns – was used as
mediation. With the horrors of the Second World War, the failure of communism,
the disbelief in the ability of capitalism to reach a fair world, the so-called
postmodernity is seen as the face of disenchantment. The objective of this
research is to look for traces of utopian hope in contemporary cinema and discuss
how certain movies can serve as allies to proposals of change. On the
understanding that, differently from what was believed in the past, it is not
possible to see history as unfolding in a linear path – with a defined point of
arrival –, modern proposals are presented with less grandiosity and
recognisability, being, on the other hand, more achievable. Ernst Bloch, who
wrote a compendium on hope, is the thread of the text, being compared with
thinkers of the 21st century.

A narrative journey with the homeless youth discovering the impact of economic factors in their discourses of homelessnessRenjan, John 28 September 2007 (has links)
Human realities are formed in particular contexts, and can be understood through telling the story of experiences related with these realities. Homelessness is a reality for many in various parts of the world. The condition of homelessness involves various discourses, each of which can be dominant in different people. Dominant discourses bring with them inherent understandings which in the case of the reality of homelessness can negatively influence the daily activities and future prospects of homeless people. These dominant discourses define the experiences of the homeless people and cause them to assess themselves negatively. This study is in the field of Practical Theology, based on a social constructionist paradigm which holds that meanings are socially constructed and there is no single “Truth”. The processes of telling stories, listening to these stories and constructing new meanings make up a narrative approach to counselling, which I use in the context of interactions with homeless youth at the Street Centre run by Pretoria Community Ministries. My approach is qualitative, and the data are evolved from narrative interventions and unstructured interviews with homeless youth. As this process is a journey into the experiences and stories of these young people, empirical sampling is irrelevant. Listening to the stories of the young people from the streets filled me with enthusiasm to take this narrative journey with them through their stories. Examining the impact of economic factors in their discourses and narrations gave me new understanding of their meanings and challenged me, because many of these were unpredictable. The epistemological approach of postfoundationalism used on this journey allowed a wide range of knowledge types and interactions, which I elucidate through interdisciplinary investigation and identification of the traditions that inform the dominant discourses. The seven-movement methodology used for this work is relevant in the context of the homeless youth, because it allows me as researcher to continue the full length of the journey with the homeless youth, leading eventually to new possibilities. On the way certain themes evolved and their meanings constructed. Listening for the discourses and identifying their economic factors helped me to deconstruct these discourses, and so guide the stories into more hopeful channels. Of course, constructing alternate stories and acknowledging the importance of economic factors will not alone change the future of these young homeless people. Economic restructuring of society is needed. This possibility challenges jobless, homeless individuals not to acquiesce in the negative patterns of society, but rather to work with conviction to create new possibilities. In this project I listened to the stories of ten homeless young people, for each of which two sessions are presented in this report. These stories show that the story tellers are the real researchers, who create new alternate stories of hope in the course of this project. “God-talk” and the discussion of “God-experiences” throws light on the role of God in their lives and in their stories. The research journey charted in this report describes first the theological context and research model, and then the particular context of these young people’s lives. This is followed by descriptions of the discourses. Description of the context of the stories and interpretation of the stories themselves moves into assessment of the stories in their individual context. Interdisciplinary investigation and identification of the traditions that inform the discourses thicken our understanding of the realities experienced by these young people, and deeper interpretations arise which are applicable beyond the local context. Each petal of this flower blooms with new colours of understanding and new fragrances of possibility. The findings of this project are not the final end of this journey, but rather lights for future journeys into the experiences of homeless youth. / Thesis (PhD (Pastoral Family Therapy))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Practical Theology / PhD / unrestricted

Previous issue date: 2008-07-10 / How to characterize the contemporary culture? What is the key for understanding the post modern human being? The work rescues, through wide flicks, the genealogical line of the contemporary culture, called Post-Modernity, with its complexity, presenting themselves paradoxically as rupture and continuity with that one. Through a historical and critical
analysis, making use of the interdisciplinary dialogical interaction, it picks and detaches the main characteristic traces of this culture and of this citizen, offering keys of bigger
understanding of its expressions of rupture and continuity with the previous paradigm. In this context, it is placed the Catholic Church, who, interpellated by it, detects the main challenges
and possibilities and searches, in the ways of auto-understanding the dialogue with this culture and this citizen. Vatican Council II was this door of access, offered this key of reading, reread and continued - for Latin America and the Caribbean - through the four Episcopal Conferences that came after the Council. The research covers this itinerary and
looks - with closer lenses - in the V General Conference of the Episcopate, in Aparecida, in 2007, for the main orientations that show themselves in the catholic guidances of the Latin
American and Caribbean continent, in the process of aggiornamento initiated by the Council mentioned before.

Le sujet de la folie contemporaine : de la croyance mythique au sacre de l'hyper techni-cité dans le discours post-traditionnel / The subject of contemporary madness : From mythic belief to the coronation of technique in post-traditional discourse, from mythic belief to the coronation of technique in post- traditional discourseIacono, Carole-Anne 01 December 2018 (has links)
This research proposes to question the subject taken under the yoke of the discourses of the post-modernity, from what we see as the desecration of mythic belief. This symbolic remodeling shifts the social link towards a society of technology, a “techni-cité”, governed by new « GAFA » economic powers. The contemporary subject is thus subject to the a-parametric injunctions of a Father 2.0 which pushes him ever further into the subjective tumble of an absolute and massive enjoyment and « massifere ». This new social organization then gives rise to new representations of madness. This is what drives us to re-examine this notion that sheds light on our whole subject. This new social organization then gives rise to new representations of madness. This is what drives us to re-examine this notion that sheds light on our whole subject. The contemporary clinic shows some forms of resistance of the subject. The latter, needing to renew his relationship with the Other, turns to new forms of spirituality that he takes from other cultures .He hopes from the putting into practice of these traditions to be able to extract knowledge about his own condition. In doing so he technicizes these imported beliefs, which are immediately torn from their symbolic base, turn to the imaginary and take up capitalist logic. The new practices that emerge from it are part of a post-traditionalism that offers a compromise to the subject that seeks to renew itself subjectively.Since post-modernity knows no boundaries, we will put these issues at stake in other societies, particularly in the Amazon, Senegal and Vanuatu. We will find that madness is closely linked to social disorder and that the contamination of contemporary economic-techno-scientific discourses produces effects beyond occidental culture.
