Developing an Intuitive Livestreaming Scheduling Experience for Live-streamers

Malmedal, Viktor January 2022 (has links)
Most people are used to recording videos on their mobile phones. However, becoming a streamer is another step further in complexity. This thesis evaluates how a streaming scheduling system can be developed to enhance the usability. It goes from idea to finished system using a design-build-test approach. To accomplish the objective the project uses three phases (research, design-build-test, and final prototype) to investigate how to build a streaming scheduling system for users lacking technical proficiency. A finalized prototype was built in the design-build-test phase, based on findings in the research phase. After the prototype was finalized, it got implemented and tested on Kvix streaming platform. The final hi-fi prototype was tested using an online questionnaire, consisting of a system usability scale and open-ended questions. The final proposed solution had a satisfaction score of 82.81 (grade A) with a probability of 70% on the system usability scale which indicates that it is effective, efficient and satisfactory.

Diseñar aplicativo web, móvil y pago en línea para la automatización del proceso de admisión del colegio trener de monterrico / Design of a web, mobile phone and online payment application for the automatization of the admissions process at trener school in monterrico

Carranza Bolívar, Diana Katherine, Ruidias Corzo, Karla Vanessa 14 May 2021 (has links)
The preparation of reports and registration of information on a face-to-face basis demands the hiring of personnel which could lead to a business developing a competitive advantage, but also, to unnecessary expenses. Improvements in managerial processes can result in higher productivity, higher time management efficiency, cost optimization and, above all, real-time information availability. Making real-time information available in key processes allows for a more efficient decision making, which, in turn, increases the value of a company. The purpose of this dissertation is to propose the design of a web, mobile phone and online payment application, which could improve the admissions process by technologically automating key activities in such process. This proposal is made possible by taking the admissions process of Trener School in Monterrico as a basis. The sub-processes include the enrolment, evaluation and registration of students. The data was obtained through online interviews to the school’s administrative personnel. As a result of the automatization, the school would rely on a mobile and web application to obtain real-time information to solve incidences that may occur in the admissions process. Additionally, the time spent in making reports would be reduced and the result of each sub-process would be checked in real time. / Tesis

Opportunities and limitations for libraries linked to digitalization and libraries' websites : Focusing on digitalization and children and young people.

Gustafsson, Madeleine January 2021 (has links)
In Sweden, political decision-makers assume that digitalization has become part of people’s everyday lives and look at its possibilities. In 2017, a new digitalization strategy was formed by the government. The main goal is to improve the digital competence of Sweden’s residents and confidence in the digital society. Children and young people are a priority when it comes to investing in digitalization both in school and in libraries. Digital competence as well as good reading skills are considered crucial to be able to participate in society. At the same time, previous research indicates that reading ability in children is decreasing. The responsibility of improving digital competence falls on the municipalities who believe that libraries can promote digital participation by developing visitors’ digital skills. The question is whether all libraries have this possibility and can meet this need of the population and to what extent depending on the resources the libraries have and the local conditions and restrictions that exist. The research questions are: How do libraries work with digital media and e-books to reach children and young people based on libraries’ websites and library plans? How do library plans relate to local practitioners; libraries’ websites and libraries’ e-books websites? What conditions, opportunities and constraints are linked to digital media and digitalization; based on libraries’ websites and library plans? What does it mean for libraries that the municipalities have the power and emphasize certain views and discourses in the library plans? The purpose is to investigate dominant conceptions in library plans and how these are put into practice on the libraries’ websites, with a focus on children and young people. The result showed that in the library plans, digitalization and libraries were either described based on possibilities or challenges and limitations. Children and young people were described together with a wide range of media types which shows that libraries are aware that children and young people use different kinds of media. The analysis of the various websites for children and young people showed that the children’s websites of libraries can look very different in terms of both appearance and content. The best thing would be if the websites looked similar in order for children and young people to be able to receive the same service no matter which website they visit. The analysis of the websites with e-books showed that they were more similar in appearance.   This is a two years master's thesis in Library and information science.

A Newborn Screening Disorders Online Portal for Primary Care Providers and Parents

Whittemore, Jean Becky 01 January 2019 (has links)
Parents do not always receive accurate, timely and comprehensive information regarding a positive newborn screening from their infants’ primary care providers. The dissertation outlines the investigation of this problem. The methodology of the study is discussed including the survey of parents and primary care providers using the past system, the development of a web portal with a focus on plain language and action focused handouts. Without a simple to understand parent handout the newborn screening process is more stressful to families. Review of the literature is detailed including newborn screening, patient education, health literacy, Internet usage, online health education, design of patient education websites and the evaluative process of learning tools. Surveys informed the content of the web-based patient portal for both parents and PCP. Abbreviated parental stress scores did not identify elevated stress in parents during the initial PCP visit when the NBS results and plan of care were discussed. Evaluation of the planned web portal was permanently delayed related to change in statewide policies; thus, a standalone website was developed using Agency for Health Care Research and Quality’s patient education material tool for understandability and actionability of both patient handouts and web portals. Physician actionable NBS handouts were also developed. Formative evaluation using experts’ input, one-to-one trials and small group trials of the handouts for the site were completed with minor revisions made to the portal. The formative evaluation using the simple survey tool would have provided any additional portal changes required. Strengths of the study to include survey response rates, rigor of the comments by both parents and PCPs as well as constructive feedback from NBS experts are highlighted. The weakness is the lack of having a final participant group identified or available related to local NBS policies. Recommendations for future research are highlighted as well as discussion of changes in federal policy that will now allow further NBS research without the limitations once imposed.

Designing for Web Sustainability: The Potential of Nudges and Sustainable Web Design in Reducing the Environmental Footprint of Communication Platforms : Development and evaluation of a fictional communication platform with a sustainability-focused approach

Thiess, Anne, Andersson, Joella January 2023 (has links)
Digital communication through communication platforms has increased and changed significantly during the last decade and recently not least because of the corona pandemic, which has shifted many face-to-face activities to the internet (Obringer R. , et al., 2021). This paper firstly contains a quantitative survey study that investigates human behaviour and their experience on digital communication platforms with a focus on media transfer of photos and videos. Afterwards, the data sizes of various media after transfers through diverse communication platforms are explored in an experiment. This is followed by the development of a prototype in which sustainable design is implemented and aim to nudge the user to more sustainable-friendly digital behaviour relating data transfers of media and the settings of a communication platform. Finally, the prototype undergoes usability testing through which the user experience and positive environmental impact is evaluated. The findings reveal that the implementation of sustainability-focused nudges, features and design within a communication platform can lead users to more sustainable decisions in one or more areas of the platform and thus improve its environmental footprint.

Hello (man's) world : En studie om kvinnor och marknadsföring av programmeringsutbildningar / Hello (man’s) world : A study about women and marketing of programming education

Azarnoush, Simine, Edström, Louise January 2022 (has links)
Programming today plays an indispensable role for society's functions but there is a underrepresentation of women both in the industry and in educations related to programming. This study aims to examine how women respond to marketing for education related to programming and how marketing could be improved. This is to attract more women to the educations and potentially increase gender equality in IT. In theory, it is stated that there is a strong stereotype about programmers, which women do not identify with. Increased representation, community and creativity-related educational titles are identified in previous studies as proposals for marketing measures to even out the gender distribution. To investigate the perception of the marketing for educations related to programming, focus group interviews were conducted. Based on the answers, a questionnaire was designed whose results would confirm or deny the focus groups' statements. Women had a positive reaction when creative words were used and when shown broad representation of gender and ethnicities. Negative reactions arose when homogeneous groups of stereotypical programmers were portrayed. A recurring wish was to see the education in a larger context and to see concrete examples of educational elements and future occupational tasks.

Samskapande med AI i webbdesign : Utforskande av sätt att implementera människa-AI samarbete i en designprocess / Co-designing with AI in web design

Jaanson, Hampus, Harrvik, Markus January 2023 (has links)
In recent years development of generative AI has received a lot of attention in established media and generally in society, which among other things has been about image generation tools. One area where there is a lack of research in, is how text-to-image AI can be used in web design. Existing research suggests that new design processes for human-AI interaction needs to be created. This essay explores how designers can make use of AI and whether it can be seen as a collaborative partner or a tool. The research question for the essay is: In what ways can AI be implemented in a co-creation process in the web design field? The work is based on previous research on AI as a tool in innovation, implementation of generative AI in a design process, AI in UX design, and communication in a co-creation process. Additionally, the study is also based on previous research on MidJourney in a creative process and the theoretical perspectives of design thinking and human-centered design. The methods that are being used are interviews and a user test with professional web designers as participants. The majority of the participants felt that MidJourney had difficulty following design criterias that primarily concerned usability, but were still positive about the tool's ability. All participants expressed that they could continue to use MidJourney in future works and mentioned that it could be implemented in a design process to facilitate and improve efficiency in communication with the client for visual ideas, as a replacement for traditional inspiration sources, but primarily as a good tool for idea generation. According to the participants, the collaboration with the tool could have worked better if the communication used during its use was more human-like. The conclusion is that AI currently can be implemented in several steps in a design process, as a support in creative processes and to improve efficiency in a lot of work. It also emerges that AI cannot be seen as a collaborative partner, only as a tool that can be used in several areas. But in thefuture, AI will increasingly be perceived as a collaborative partner, by educating designers more in AI and developing communication to be more human-like. However, the designer's role remains important today due to AI:s difficulties in understanding basic design thinking and human-centered design.
