[pt] Esta tese investiga o discurso da emoção na interação cliente-empresa a partir da análise de cartas de clientes dirigidas a um plano de saúde sob a ótica da teoria da polidez e da antropologia das emoções. Considerando a emoção um construto cultural e uma prática discursiva, este estudo observou que o cumprimento e a quebra de direitos e obrigações dos participantes (cliente e empresa) influencia a expressão da emoção ao mesmo tempo em que aponta aspectos da cultura brasileira na interação burocrática investigada. / [en] This thesis investigates the discourse of emotion in business interaction through the analysis of letters from clients addressed to a health plan. To this purpose, it uses the framework derived from politeness theory and from the anthropology of emotions. Given that emotion is a cultural artifact and a discursive practice, this study has observed that the fulfillment or the break of the rights and duties of participants (both clients and company) affects the expression of emotion at the same time that it reveals aspects of Brazilian culture in the interaction analysed.

[pt] Partindo das práticas de escrita dos livros de viagem, propomos investigar os procedimentos encenados por Murilo Mendes em Carta Geográfica e, de modo concomitante, investir sobre as estratégias do poeta, no desenho dos mapas e cartas, diante do deslocamento de textos e suas relações com o corpo da obra. Entre os problemas colocados, ao lidarmos com a Carta Geográfica, temos o seu caráter de incompletude e imperfeição - no sentido português de inacabado, como indica Luciana Stegagno Picchio, em comentário nas notas e variantes da edição da poesia completa e prosa. Picchio afirma, ainda, que esta Carta Geográfica ficará como livro de recortes, de apontamentos, de sobras; o que, de imediato, renova o interesse pelo livro, por indicar estratégias de colagens e roteiros, tão caros a Murilo Mendes. Seguimos o significativo interesse pela obra em prosa do poeta, que é justificado, não sem razão, por conta da feição memorialista desses textos. Há uma proliferação de leituras amparadas por teorias do arquivo e das escritas de si; no entanto pretendemos, aqui, ler a Carta Geográfica como cartografia de desejos, compondo estratégias de navegação que, de certo modo, irão supor-se como garrafas de intertextos lançadas ao mar nas dinâmicas das visitas guiadas. / [en] From the perspective of travel writing, we propose to investigate the procedures used by Murilo Mendes in Carta Geográfica (Geographic Letter), and along with this, study the strategies of the poet, his drawings of maps and letters, regarding the displacement of texts and their relations with the body of the work. Amongst other issues, when dealing with Carta Geográfica, we have to deal with its incompleteness and imperfections - in the Portuguese sense of inacabado/unfinished, as observed by Luciana Stegagno Picchio, in a comment to the notes and variants of the edition of his complete poetry and prose. Picchio also says that Carta geográfica will remain as a scrapbook, a book of notes and leftovers. An immediate effect of this is to renew interest for this book, because it indicates that collage and scripts were used as strategies, procedures so dear to Murilo Mendes. A significant interest for his work in prose can be explained by the memorialist character of these texts. Many readings have been made based on archive theories and self writings; however, our intention is to read Carta Geográfica as a cartography of desires, using navigation strategies that should, in a way, function as intertextual messages in bottles which are thrown out to the sea during the dynamics of guided tours.

[pt] À leitura do epistolário jesuíta, principalmente as Cartas (1549-1558) redigidas pelo padre Manuel da Nóbrega, evidenciam-se assuntos concernentes ao trato com o indígena que através da língua, liturgia e catequese possibilitam um aprofundamento fecundo quando as comparam com os temas do opúsculo Diálogo sobre a Conversão do Gentio. O Discurso versa com suportes bíblico, filosófico, teológico e literário, argumentos importantes ainda não resolvidos no convívio do colono e mesmo dos jesuítas com os silvícolas do Brasil. Nóbrega compôs a peça para dar voz ao homem americano, demonstrando sua humanidade pela alma que possuía; a cultura que vivenciava e pela aptidão natural e moral de receber a mensagem do evangelho e se converter como tantos outros povos tornaram-se cristãos. O texto é primoroso no debate dos dois oponentes Matheus Nogueira e Gonçalo Álvares, um e outro pretendendo demonstrar a possibilidade ou não da conversão do aborígine - que as tímidas Cartas não explicitavam a opinião de muitos como contrária, e o Diálogo revelou de forma tão contundente e grave o parecer melancólico e pessimista entre colonos e jesuítas da impossibilidade de conversão do gentio brasil. Entretanto, as entrelinhas querem provar o contrário: a crença do autor (Nóbrega) na aceitação do evangelho pelo índio e sua conversão. / [en] The Jesuit letters, particularly those written by the priest Manuel da Nóbrega and collected in Cartas (1549-1558), offer a glimpse of how Brazilian Indians were dealt with through language, liturgy and catechism. This material allows for deep understanding of such topics, specially when compared with those tackled in Diálogo sobre a Conversão do Gentio, which draws on philosophy, theology, literature and the Bible to address major unresolved arguments in the relationship of the settlers and the Jesuits with the Brazilian Indians. Nóbrega wrote it with the purpose of giving voice to the American man, arguing that the natives were human, since they possessed a soul which endowed them with the moral and natural ability to be open to the message of the Gospel and to convert to Christianity as many other peoples before them. In the text, the debate between the two opponents, Matheus Nogueira and Gonçalo Alvares, is superbly rendered, both trying to establish whether it was possible or impossible for the natives to convert. Whereas the Cartas fails to proclaim the opinion of many as opposing, the Diálogo reveals unequivocally the melancholic and pessimistic view of settlers and Jesuits, who believed that it was impossible to convert the Brazilian Indians. However, if we read between the lines we perceive the opposite: namely, that Nóbrega did believe that the natives would eventually accept the Gospel and become Christians.

[pt] A presente tese tem como tema uma análise da dimensão filosófica do discurso autobiográfico apresentado por Platão na carta que passou a ser conhecida, desde a compilação de Trasímaco, como a Carta VII. A tradição de comentários e interpretações estabeleceu o hábito de considerar a carta como sendo um documento de grande importância historiográfica, uma fonte de informações sobre a política da Siracusa no séc. IV a.C. e sobre a própria vida de Platão, mas não como uma obra de caráter filosófico – exceto pelo excurso teórico apresentado no passo 341a-345c. A pesquisa aqui apresentada defende uma tese diferente: o texto de apresentação, escrutínio e justificativa da própria trajetória biográfica tem, ele próprio, um caráter filosófico, na medida em que faz culminar a apropriação socrático-platônica do preceito délfico Conhece-te a ti mesmo. Para sustentar a tese, o texto apresenta uma análise da história desse preceito na cultura grega, e o sentido dessa apropriação filosófica no contexto maior da obra de Platão. Além disso, a tese também se ocupa da controversa questão da autoria do texto, contestada por parte dos estudiosos. Ao tratar da questão da autenticidade ou espuriedade do texto, a pesquisa faz um inventário crítico que divide os argumentos favoráveis e contrários em vários tipos – argumentos estilísticos, estilométricos, historiográficos e filosóficos –, e termina por posicionar-se sobre o tema. / [en] This thesis explores the philosophical dimension of the autobiographical discourse presented by Plato in the text known, since the compilation made by Trasimacus, as the Seventh Letter. The tradition of commentary and interpretation has established the use of reading the letter as a document of great historigraphical importance, as a source of information about the political affairs in Siracuse during the IV century b. C., and about Plato himself – but not as a work of philosophical nature (except for the digression in 341a-345c). The present research proposes a different idea: a piece of writing in which Plato presentes, examins and justifies his own biographical trajectory has in itself a philosophical nature, insofar as it fulfills the socratic-platonic appropriation of the Delfic precept “Know thyself”. To defend the hypothesis, the research analyses the history of the Delfic principle in Ancient Greece, and the deep meaning of the mentioned appropriation in the wider context of Plato’s works. Besides, the present thesis also delas with the controvert subjetc of the letter’s authenticity, challenged by some scholars. In dealing with this matter, the research will present a critic inventory that sorts in kinds all the arguments, both contrary and favorable to the authenticity – the ones based on style, stylometry, History and philosophy – and, at last, it takes a stand on that issue.

[pt] Com uma produção caracterizada por referências literárias e musicais diversificadas, o que a torna um híbrido de influências de apelo transgeracional, Zé Ramalho é o personagem principal de uma biografia autorizada. Através de uma narrativa autobiográfica e com o auxílio de correspondências e entrevistas, este trabalho põe em destaque a importância do cantor e compositor paraibano para a cena musical brasileira e o debate sobre os procedimentos intelectuais e sensitivoafetivos envolvidos na produção do gênero biográfico. Esta dissertação conta uma história que envolve não só o artista e os parceiros com os quais ele se relacionou ao longo da vida como também a pesquisadora, fazendo uma análise da relação entre biógrafa e biografado. / [en] With a production characterized by diversified literary and musical references, making it a trans-generational hybrid of influences, Zé Ramalho is the main character of an authorized biography. By using an autobiographical narrative, with the aid of correspondences and interviews, this work highlights the importance of the singer and songwriter from Paraíba for the Brazilian music scene and the debate on intellectual procedures and sensory-affective involved in the production of the biographical genre. This Thesis tells a story that involves not only the artist and his partnerships but also the researcher, thus making an additional analysis of the relationship between biographer and biography.

[pt] A biografia intelectual de Luiz Camillo de Oliveira Netto foi construída a partir de antigas anotações que mostram a marca fundadora de sua personalidade: Itabira e o povo do Girau. Desde seu primeiro trabalho, percebe-se como a pequena cidade calçada de ferro era o núcleo moral de sua personalidade, Itabira com seus parentes mortos e vivos, sua paisagem circunspecta, sua tradição, seu estilo. Daí sairiam seu amor aos estudos históricos e seu destino de intelectual, pesquisador e ativista político. Seu arquivo constitui-se em fonte primária, inédita; possui interesse para os pesquisadores que desejem compreender os limites e a importância da sua atuação no mundo da cultura e da política e entender, através dos seus olhos, o espírito do tempo em que viveu. As cartas e demais documentos com os quais se trabalhou datam em sua maior parte de momento cultural e histórico preciso, situado entre 1904-1953, no ponto de encontro de diferentes fatores que os fazem objeto da história, da sociologia, dos gêneros literários; desses documentos, acrescidos de entrevistas com pessoas que com ele conviveram, retiraram-se temas e preocupações do mundo intelectual brasileiro e a caracterização de uma época - com mapeamento de mentalidades, entrelaçamento de relações de amizade, parentesco e trabalho. / [en] Luiz Camillo de Oliveira Netto s intellectual biography is reconstructed on the basis of old jottings that point to the founding mark of his personality: the town of Itabira and the people of Girau. Since his first job, it is clear that the small, iron-paved town was the moral core of his personality - Itabira with its dead and living relatives, its reserved landscape, its traditions, its style. This was the origin of his love for the study of history and his destiny as an intellectual, researcher, and political activist. His archive includes primary and unpublished sources; it holds interest for researchers who would like to understand the limits and importance of his activities in the cultural and political world and to grasp, from his perspective, the spirit of the times he lived in. Most of the letters and documents upon which this work is based date from a precise cultural and historical moment: between 1904 and 1953. These materials are located at the intersection of different factors which make them the object of history, sociology, and literary genres; from these documents, to which were added interviews with people who lived around him, were drawn themes and concerns of the Brazilian intellectual world and the characterization of a historical period, with the mapping out of mentalities, the interlacing of relationships between friends, family members and fellow workers.

[pt] Esta dissertação tem como objetivo refletir sobre questões relacionadas à autobiografia dentro da perspectiva contemporânea dos estudos biográficos, legitimadora dos discursos situados à margem dos cânones literários.O objeto de análise da mesma é uma carta e algumas fotografias. A carta, de 317 páginas, foi escrita por Camilo Cândido de Araújo - meu avô materno -, no período de 14 de setembro de 1969 a 26 de janeiro de 1970 e endereçada ao seu filho mais velho. A correspondência - de conteúdo memorialista - é um legado que o pai deixa ao filho; uma espécie de autobiografia que, além de ter sido escrita no final da vida do autor, teve papel fundamental em sua história. A partir desse documento, encontrado recentemente, são feitas reflexões sobre questões pertinentes à literatura como escrita epistolar e autobiográfica, a necessidade da escrita e a memória. A relação biógrafo/biografado é tomada como ponto de partida para destacar a linhagem materna. As fotografias familiares são lidas em contraponto com o texto, como suplemento do material de análise. / [en] The purpose of this thesis is to reflect on questions relating to the autobiographical genre within the contemporary perspective of biographical studies, a perspective that has been legitimizing these discourses situated at the margins of literary canon. The object of analysis is a testament/letter and a few photographs. The 317-page document was written by Camilo Cândido de Araújo, my maternal grandfather, between September 14, 1969 and January 26, 1970, and it was addressed to his eldest son. The epistle - a memoir in content - is a legacy from a father to his son; it is a form of autobiography that, besides having been written in the final years of the authors life, played a fundamental role in his own life history. Based on this recently found material, reflections are made on matters pertinent to literature as epistolary and autobiographic writings, the necessity of writing, and memory. The relationship between the biographer and his subject is the starting point for highlighting the maternal lineage. The family photographs serve as a counterpoint to the text, as a supplement to the material in question.

[pt] A presente dissertação se propõe a fazer uma síntese teológica da teologia da graça em Santo Agostinho e da teologia dialética de Karl Barth. E mostrar que, embora os dois tenham usado de base a carta de Paulo aos Romanos para fundamentarem suas respectivas teologias, usaram epistemologias completamente diferentes. Nossa pesquisa tencionar mostrar que, enquanto Santo Agostinho fazia todas as coisas dependerem da Graça Divina, creditando a Cristo o mérito de tudo, Karl Barth ontologizou demais o tema do pecado. Nossa pesquisa objetiva mostrar que, embora os dois trabalharam demais as palavras pecado e redenção, palavras essas que gravitam em toda história da salvação, o escopo da teologia de Santo Agostinho está na graça. Enquanto que, Karl Barth deu mais ênfase a questão do pecado e seu efeito catastrófico, que estabeleceu uma crise entre Deus e o homem. Daí a teologia da crise. Mas também a teologia dialética, que acontece através de uma autodoação e uma autocomunicação entre Deus e a humanidade, pois o Não-Deus foi superado a partir do sim pronunciado através da obra de Cristo. / [en] The present research proposes to make a theological synthesis of the theology of grace in Saint Augustine and the dialectical theology of Karl Barth. And to show that, although the two used Paul s letter to the Romans as a basis to support their respective theologies, they used completely different epistemologies. Our research is intented to show that while St. Augustine made all things depend on Divine Grace, crediting Christ with the merit of everything, Karl Barth over- ontologized the theme of sin. Our research aims to show that, although the two worked too hard on the words sin and redemption, words that gravitate throughout salvation history, the scope of St. Augustine s theology is in grace. Meanwhile, Karl Barth placed more emphasis on the issue of sin and its catastrophic effect, which established a crisis between God and man. Hence the theology of crisis. But also dialectical theology, which takes place through self-giving and self-communication between God and humanity, since the Not-God was overcome from the yes pronounced through the works of Christ.

[pt] Esta Tese Doutoral debruça-se sobre o uso retórico das alegorias de Gl 4,1–5,1 como forma de se compreender o debate paulino sobre a escravidão e a liberdade, a partir das regras de Hillel. Partindo da investigação das ferramentas semânticas e linguísticas que moldaram a interpretação da Escritura em contexto judaico do primeiro século, percebe-se como Paulo utiliza-se de tais técnicas e ensinamentos oriundos de escolas rabínicas em sua elaboração de Gl 4,1–5,1. Deste modo, a pesquisa visa estudar o texto bíblico seguindo os critérios acadêmicos reconhecidos para análises deste caráter, para compreender os elementos que norteiam o sentido teológico do uso paulino das distintas figuras paradigmáticas, centradas na ideia de filiação, como parte integrante de um grande argumento retórico, como estratégia de diálogo, defesa e resgate da comunidade da Galácia, ameaçada por indivíduos que buscavam contradizer a pregação do apóstolo / [en] This Doctoral Thesis focuses on the rhetorical use of the allegories of Gl 4,1–5,1 as away of understanding the Pauline debate on slavery and freedom, based on Hillel s rules. Starting from the investigation of the semantic and linguistic tools that shaped the interpretation of Scripture in the Jewish context of the first century, it is clear how Paul uses such techniques and teachings from rabbinical schools in his elaboration of Gl 4,1–5,1. In this way, the research aimsto study the biblical text following the academic criteria recognized for analyzes of this character, to understand the elements that guide the theological meaning of Paul s use of diferente paradigmatic figures, centered on the idea of filiation, as an integral part of a great argument rhetorical, as a strategy of dialogue, defense and rescue of the Galatian community, threatened byindividuals who sought to contradict the apostle s preaching.

[pt] Esta dissertação observa o desenvolvimento do compromisso coletivo com a democracia representativa no âmbito da Organização dos Estados Americanos (OEA). Uma descrição dos casos em que a OEA atuou na promoção e defesa da democracia a partir da aprovação da Resolução 1080 e do Compromisso de Santiago é dada e permite o acompanhamento da criação de mecanismos de ação coletiva e a instituição de práticas que constituem o que se chamou de paradigma democrático nas Américas. O instrumental teórico do institucionalismo histórico oferece uma alternativa às análises realistas, racionalistas e funcionalistas sobre o papel da variável institucional no desenvolvimento desse paradigma. / [en] This dissertation observes the development of a collective commitment with representative democracy within the Organization of American States (OAS) from the 1990`s onward. A descriptive analysis of the cases in which the OAS acted for the promotion and defense of democracy is therefore given and allows the following of the creation of collective action mechanisms as well as the institution of practices that constitute what can be called a democratic solidarity paradigm in the hemisphere. The theoretical tools of historical institutionalism offer an alternative to realist, rationalist and functionalist analysis of the role of the institutional variable on the development of this paradigm.
