Alphonsus de Guimaraens = reconstruções da memória e recriações no corpo / Alphonsus de Guimaraens : reconstructions of memory and recriations within the body

Hirson, Raquel Scotti, 1971- 20 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Suzi Frankl Sperber / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Artes / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-20T06:31:31Z (GMT). A junção dos elementos escolhidos para a pesquisa torna possível a estruturação de metodologias e caminhos de codificação e criação / Abstract: "Alphonsus de Guimaraens: Reconstructions of Memory and Recreations within the Body" is a survey that includes memory and performance as sources for a text able to enter in a field of sensations, which it may not be able to translate, but may at least touch some points similar to the ephemeral scenic experience. The text is therefore the result of the way I found to express recreations - experienced in the body - of personal memories that connect me to my great-grandfather, the symbolist poet Alphonsus de Guimaraens (1870-1921). The written thesis is an exercise in creation, as much as the praxis in the staging room. Through poetry I arrived at the man, thus, at the curiosity to know who this man was, able to write poetry amid the monotony of his long provincial days. During the research, I realized that fantasy would be fundamental to recreate that memory and to create a dance full of images, in a different becoming, inherent to the actor's work. The seizure of a sense of uniqueness, cultivated along the trajectory of twenty-six years by Lume, eighteen of which I myself have followed from within (as an active member, creating and researching), was taken at "face value" in this task - which maintained Lume and promoted its intensity. A kind of individual submersion was needed, but connected with the practice of eighteen years of collective discoveries. New is the constellation of factors that make up this specific research, but my experience was built up along many years. Repetition enhances the difference and is able to generate new nuances, sustained, constructed and composed of various elements. Thus, I revisit the methodology of corporeal mimesis and penetrate into a different issue, mimesis of the word as the possibility of filling empty spaces. An active word can contain all the dimensions of the connections of the images it generates, as well as the dimensions of the body, playing with space and time. The Alphonsus de Guimaraens: Reconstruções da Memória e Recriações no Corpo combination of elements chosen for the survey makes it possible to structure methodologies and ways of coding and creation / Doutorado / Artes Cenicas / Doutor em Artes

A pedagogical study and practice guide for significant original euphonium solo compositions for the undergraduate level student.

Meixner, Brian Daniel 08 1900 (has links)
Euphonium concertos and similar masterworks for euphonium have been recorded, written about, analyzed, and discussed at length numerous times in recent years. Unfortunately, the most frequently studied and performed euphonium solos have been almost completely ignored in this regard. These works are useful for performance by the undergraduate-level euphonium player. Solos in this category are played by strong high school players and undergraduate euphonium students all over the world. These solos receive countless performances and play a crucial role in the development of young euphonium players, yet have never received attention in the form of a published pedagogical guide. The pieces of greater difficulty and substantial length have received more attention for obvious reasons, but solo pieces most useful for the developing euphoniumist need to be analyzed and discussed on a pedagogical level. This paper is a pedagogical guide to commonly played euphonium solos by the undergraduate level student. The three pieces used in this study are Sonatina by Warner Hutchison, Sonata for Unaccompanied Euphonium by Fred Clinard, and Lyric Suite by Donald White. Pertinent background information about each piece is presented in order for the reader to understand the historical context in which it was written. A list of relevant information and minimum performance skills (instrumentation, length, range, articulation skills, etc.) are included for each selection. An analysis of particular sections of each piece are presented for the reader to adequately grasp concepts and practice ideas that are explained, although the bulk of analysis is of a pedagogical nature. The main body of the paper focuses on assisting the reader with ways to approach this solo literature in daily practice as well as effective performance ideas. Particularly troublesome areas of each piece are identified and strategies to overcome common pitfalls and performance errors are noted.

Re-Assessing Nationalism in the Art Songs of Jaime León

Ávila Martínez, Juan Sebastián 12 1900 (has links)
Colombian composer Jaime León (1921-2015) is known for his art songs. Most of the current scholarly literature about León defines him as a nationalist composer even though a majority of his songs do not appear to have nationalist traits. This document examines a representative selection of León's songs divided into three categories: songs influenced by the bambuco (the Colombian genre most present in his songs); songs whose text refers to Colombian culture; and songs without Colombian elements present in their text or music. After examination of these songs, my conclusion is that León, rather than being nationalist, was a cosmopolitan composer who used national elements as rhetorical tools in an isolated and experimental way.

The Effect of the Rivalry Between Jesse Knight and Thomas Nicholls Taylor on Architecture in Provo, Utah: 1896-1915

Hales, Stephen A. 01 January 1991 (has links) (PDF)
The development of the downtown business district of Provo, Utah has closely followed the orderly growth envisioned by its founders. However, one early change in the city's layout had a profound effect on the direction of Provo's development. In 1852, Brigham Young moved the site of the Provo tabernacle from its original location in the designated public square to a location on the fringes of the earliest city boundaries. The result of this action was a sometimes heated controversy among residents regarding the city's true public center. As commercial development reached a peak between 1896 and 1915, the controversy erupted into a rivalry between east-side and west-side residents. Jesse Knight and Thomas Nicholls Taylor, two of the city's most prominent citizens and businessmen, became opponents in advocating opposite sides of the city for development. The strong emotions generated by the rivalry reached a peak with the election to decide the location of Provo's Union Passenger Depot in 1909.Throughout the period of their rivalry, the opposing efforts of Knight and Taylor to establish a commercial center in Provo played a key role in the location and style of the city's most important commercial and residential buildings. These structures are an important focus of study since they represent the playing pieces in a competition that was almost single-handedly responsible for the growth and composition of central Provo. This thesis evaluates the effect of the Knight-Taylor rivalry on architecture in Provo between 1896 and 1915, and examines some of the buildings that resulted from the controversy within the context of contemporary architectural trends.

EL Haiku en la poesía del Javier Sologuren y Alfonso Cisneros Cox

Belaúnde Degregori, Alonso 20 February 2018 (has links)

Olavarría Ginocchio, Ricardo 19 December 2013 (has links)

Partisan progressivism : social politics and the 1912 progressive party

York, Justin K. 01 January 2010 (has links)
In America, the advent of industrial capitalism promised an era of prosperity and progress. For some, however, it had marked a period of hazardous life at home and at work, and social dislocation. Dissenters to this economic arrangement found themselves in opposition to an array of forcessocial, political, economic and intellectual-which buttressed the industrial capitalist order. Their responses in words and in action would substantiate and characterize American social politics. The rise of social politics is a trans-Atlantic phenomenon: a product of the vibrant intellectual exchange of progressive thought during the Progressive era. It sought to restructure the prevailing arrangements of the American political framework to account for social concerns associated with industrial capitalism. During the early twentieth century, a choice was made by many progressives to translate social politics into an explicitly partisan vehicle. The Progressive Party, which emerged in 1912, would be organized and employed by progressives to give a partisan home and a national platform to social politics. The party's role and impact in the progressive movement can be better understood by analyzing and examining how the Progressives acted on the principles of social politics.

Ibáñez Blancas, Franklin Ernesto 21 November 2012 (has links)
