Estudo de coorte prospectivo das características do absenteísmo na administração pública: atestação médico-odontológica na saúde do servidor / Prospective cohort study of the characteristics of absenteeism public administration: medical-dental certification of the server health

O absenteísmo médico-odontológico é relatado como sendo responsável pela perda de dias e horas de trabalho, refletindo-se em prejuízos econômicos nos setores público e privado, não obstante a sua essência nos remeta a uma reflexão muito mais profunda, no que diz respeito à Saúde e aos seus agravos, enquanto fatores causais desta condição, muitas vezes impostos ao trabalhador pelo próprio ambiente de trabalho. O presente estudo teve por objetivo avaliar as características e o perfil do Absenteísmo na Administração Pública, o envolvimento e a atestação médico - odontológica relacionados ao afastamento do servidor do seu trabalho, além da relação entre Patologias Médicas e odontológicas, sob uma óptica baseada em evidências de uma pesquisa pautada na Incidência. Além disto, como objetivo secundário, foi conduzida uma atualização da revista da literatura com fulcro nos aspectos legais, éticos, normativos e científicos, no que tange às atestações de estados de saúde. A partir de um estudo preliminar do tipo exploratório retrospectivo, transversal, descritivo e analítico, realizado anteriormente com o propósito de se estabelecer a relação entre absenteísmo e doenças, tanto de origem médica, como odontológica; traçou-se assim um perfil do Absenteísmo na Administração Pública. Também assim, estabeleceu-se uma estratégia que envolveu uma amostra de 340 prontuários funcionais de servidores públicos municipais de uma cidade do interior do Estado de São Paulo, Brasil, do universo de 973 servidores ativos, que foi submetida a uma avaliação transversal retrospectiva de 11 anos e 5 meses, no período de 01 de janeiro de 2001 a 31 de maio de 2012, através da análise da História Médico-Odontológica Pregressa colhida dos atestados médicos e odontológicos juntados e justificantes de faltas ou afastamentos, documentos legais estes comprovantes do motivo do absenteísmo. Subsequentemente a este levantamento epidemiológico, com base na Prevalência, deu-se continuidade ao processo através de um estudo de coorte prospectivo de 1 ano e 6 meses, com os mesmos parâmetros e amostra, porém com uma perda de 11,37%, onde foram analisados ao final, 304 prontuários funcionais, no período pré-estabelecido de 01 de junho de 2012 a 30 de novembro de 2013, cujo intuito foi o de se vislumbrar um panorama inequívoco, em que pese a escassez de investigações acerca do tema, mormente com as peculiaridades atribuídas aos estudos de Incidência. Ademais, tal avaliação buscou também uma correlação entre a quantidade de atestações apresentadas e suas implicações, antes e depois da consolidação plena da implantação e padronização de um sistema de relógio-ponto digital de controle de frequência, por meio de biometria, obrigatória e ativa em todas as Secretarias da administração municipal, neste período de 18 meses proposto na pesquisa, quando comparada ao período anteriormente estudado, de 11 anos e 5 meses, onde outras formas de registro de frequência, tais como relógio-ponto, livro-ponto e folha de frequência, também eram utilizadas. Foram quantificados os afastamentos, dias de trabalho perdidos e afecções mais frequentes, dentre outras características avaliadas. Os dados foram analisados de forma descritiva por meio de frequências absoluta e relativa, e inferencial através de Estatística Analítica pertinente a cada situação, além da utilização de Índices e Razões validadas, tais como Índice de Gravidade, Índice de Frequência, Duração Média das Ausências e Risco Relativo. Os afastamentos médicos somaram 3.523 eventos e os odontológicos 337, com total de 34.685 e 425 dias perdidos de trabalho, respectivamente, no levantamento retrospectivo. Já no prospectivo, foram contabilizados 1.715 afastamentos médicos e 186 odontológicos, com um total de 10.284 e 279 dias perdidos de trabalho, respectivamente. As patologias de origem médica mais prevalentes foram as Doenças do Aparelho Respiratório (CID J11) e as mais incidentes foram os Fatores que Influenciam o Estado de Saúde e o Contato com os Serviços de Saúde (CID Z76.3); as de origem odontológica mais prevalentes foram os Dentes inclusos (CID K01.0); e a Necrose da polpa (CID K04.1) foram as mais incidentes. Os resultados obtidos e a sua interpretação buscam fornecer subsídios para discussão e conclusões, levantando questões a serem analisadas e posteriormente informadas à Administração municipal, como sugestão para melhoria da qualidade de vida e de Saúde do servidor dentro do ambiente de trabalho, contribuindo para a redução do absenteísmo e o aumento da produtividade, com o consequente acréscimo na qualidade da prestação do serviço público. Contudo, há fortes indícios de um maior agravo à Saúde do servidor no atual cenário avaliado. / Medical and dental absenteeism is reported to be responsible for the lost of days and hours of work, reflecting in economic losses in the public and private sectors, nevertheless its essence refers us to a much deeper reflection, with regard to Health and their grievances, as causal factors of this condition often imposed by the employee\'s own work environment. The present study aimed to evaluate the characteristics and profile of Absenteeism in Public Administration, the involvement and the medical - dental attestation related to the staf absence from work, besides the relationship between Medical and Dental Pathologies, under a view based on evidence from a survey based in the Incidence. Furthermore, as a secondary objective, we conducted a literature review of the update with the fulcrum in the legal, ethical, normative and scientific aspects, in relation of health states. From a preliminary study of the retrospective exploratory, cross-sectional, descriptive study was previously conducted with the purpose of establishing the relationship between absenteeism and illnesses, both medical and dental origin; thus drew up a profile of Absenteeism in Public Administration. Thus, it was established a strategy that involved a sample of 340 medical records of functional employees of a city in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, from the universe of 973 active servers, which was subjected to a retrospective cross-sectional assessment of 11 years and 5 months in the period from January 1, 2001 to May 31, 2012, by analyzing the History of Medical and Dental harvested from past medical and dental certificates and documents gathered in proof of absences these ones legal documents showing why the absenteeism. Subsequently to this epidemiological survey, based on the Prevalence, was continued the process through a prospective cohort study of 1 year and 6 months, with the same parameters and sample, but with a loss of 11.37%, which analyzed the end, 304 functional charts, pre-established period of June 1, 2012 to November 30, 2013, whose aim was to discern a clear picture, despite the lack of research on the topic, especially with the peculiarities assigned to the studies of Incidence. Furthermore, this evaluation also sought a correlation between the amount of affidavits presented and its implications, before and after the full implementation of the consolidation and standardization of a digital clock - point frequency control system, using biometrics, mandatory and active in all the Departments of municipal administration, in this period of 18 months proposed in the research, when compared to the previously studied period of 11 years and five months, where other forms of attendance records, such as watch-point, point-book and leaf frequency, were also used. Avoidances, lost workdays and more frequent disorders were quantified among of other characteristics evaluated. Data were analyzed descriptively using absolute and relative frequencies, and through inferential Analytics Statistics pertinent to each situation, besides the use of Indices and Reasons validated such as Severity Index, Frequency Index, Duration Average Absences and Relative Risk. Medical absence totaled 3523 events and dental 337, with a total of 34685 and 425 lost days of work, respectively, in a retrospective survey. In the prospective, 1715 medical and 186 dental leaves were recorded, with a total of 10284 and 279 lost days of work, respectively. The most prevalent medical origin diseases were the Respiratory Diseases (ICD J11) and the most incidents were the Factors Influencing Health Status and Contact with Health Services (ICD Z76.3); the diseases most prevalent dental origin diseases were the included teeth (ICD K01.0); and more incidents were the necrosis of the pulp (ICD K04.1). The results and their interpretation intend to provide input for the discussion and conclusions, raising issues to be analyzed and subsequently to be reported to the municipal Administration, as a suggestion for improving the quality of life and Health of the server within the work environment, helping to reduce the absenteeism and the increase productivity, with a consequent increase the quality of public service provision. However, there is strong evidence of a greater Health problem of the server in the current scenario evaluated.

Atividade física, absenteísmo e demanda por atendimento à saúde de funcionários de indústria automobilística de São Caetano do Sul / Physical activity, absenteeism and the need for health care by automotive industry employees from São Caetano do Sul

Introdução: A promoção da atividade física e de hábitos de vida saudáveis é efetiva para prevenção de doenças crônicas. Os custos com problemas de saúde oneram desde instituições governamentais até empresas dos mais variados ramos. O principal objetivo do estudo foi verificar a associação do absenteísmo por problemas de saúde, presenteísmo e procura por atendimento médico com o escore de atividade física habitual (AFH) de Baecke e seus três componentes: atividade física ocupacional (AFO), exercício físico de lazer (EFL) e atividade de lazer e locomoção (ALL). Métodos: Estudo de desenho transversal com seleção amostral aleatória estratificada por função laboral (horistas, mensalistas e executivos), participando 620 funcionários da indústria automobilística General Motors do Brasil da unidade de São Caetano do Sul. Os participantes tinham no mínimo 12 meses de vínculo com a empresa, pertenciam à mesma unidade e atuavam no Brasil no momento do inquérito. Todos preencheram o questionário de Baecke para avaliação da AFH, além de questões sobre dados sócio-demográficos, uso de álcool, fumo, alimentação, índice de massa corporal, morbidade referida, absenteísmo por problemas com saúde, procura por atendimento médico e presenteísmo. Para a comparação de médias, utilizou-se ANOVA e, no caso de significância estatística (p<0,05), foram feitas as comparações múltiplas pelo método de Tukey. Para a comparação entre proporções foi utilizado o teste de Qui-Quadrado. Para os desfechos categóricos foi realizada a análise através de um modelo de regressão logística univariada. Todas as variáveis cujo nível de significância estatística tenha sido 0,10 (p0,10) foram selecionadas para entrarem no modelo de regressão logística multivariada. Após o processo backward foi apresentado o modelo final, com as variáveis com significância estatística (p<0,05). Para o desfecho presenteísmo (variável numérica) foi feita a comparação com as variáveis independentes através do método de correlação de Pearson. Para avaliar as associações foi utilizada razão de chances e intervalo de confiança de 95%. Resultados: A idade foi 38,5 ±10,2 anos e 89% do sexo masculino. Depois de controladas as covariáveis, o escore de AFH de Baecke não foi associado com os desfechos analisados e nem com morbidade referida. Os funcionários horistas apresentaram maior escore de AFH, maior escore de AFO e menor escore de EFL que os demais funcionários. O escore de AFO foi associado com absenteísmo (OR=1,63, IC95%=1,31-2,02) e apresentou proximidade à significância estatística (p=0,061) com a procura por atendimento médico (OR=1,25, IC95%=0,99-1,58), ambas na análise univariada e não confirmada no modelo multivariado. O escore de AFO também apresentou correlação com o presenteísmo (r=0,099, p=0,014). Não foi estatisticamente significante a associação do escore de ALL com absenteísmo (p=0,053), (OR=0,73, IC95%=0,58-1,00) e com procura por atendimento médico (p=0,067), (OR=0,76, IC95%=0,57-1,02). Os escores de AFO e EFL foram associados com a presença de morbidade referida, sendo respectivamente OR=1,3 (IC95%=1,06-1,61) e OR=0,67 (IC95%=0,54-0,82). Conclusão: O escore de AFH não foi associado com os desfechos estudados. Os funcionários horistas apresentaram maior escore de AFH por terem maior atividade física ocupacional a despeito do menor escore de exercício físico e esportes. Dentre os três escores avaliados, o ocupacional se mostrou mais próximo de associação com os desfechos estudados. O cálculo do poder estatístico das análises infere a necessidade de maior amostragem para a negação das hipóteses levantadas por este estudo. A utilização do questionário de Baecke, diferentemente de outros instrumentos que avaliam o gasto energético não levando em consideração os diferentes tipos de atividade física, questiona a possibilidade de que o maior gasto energético deva ser considerado fator de proteção para a saúde. / Background: By fostering physical activities and healthy life behavior, one can prevent chronic diseases. The health-related costs represent a heavy burden not only to the governmental entities but also to some private companies with many different levels of activities. The main objective of this study was to verify the association between absenteeism due to healthrelated problems, presenteeism, health care seek and the Baecke habitual physical activity score (HPA) and its three components: occupational physical activity (OPA), physical exercise in leisure (PEL) and leisure and locomotion activity (LLA). Methods: A cross-sectional study was done on a selected random sample which was stratified by job categories (hourly, salaried and executives) with the participation of 620 employees from General Motors Brazil, an automotive company located at São Caetano do Sul. The participants had a minimum of 12 months of company service, they worked for the same unit and all were active employees performing their jobs in Brazil at the time the questionnaire was applied. All of them filled out the Baecke questionnaire for the HPA evaluation, including specific questions on social-demographics data, intake of alcohol, tobacco, food, body mass index, referred morbidity, health-related absenteeism, health care seek and presenteeism. To compare averages, the ANOVA has been utilized and, when the statistical significance (p<0,05) was shown, multiples comparisons were made through the Tukeys Method. To compare proportions, the Chi- Square Test was utilized. For the categorical outcomes, it was carried out an analysis through the univariate logistic regression model. All variables which statistical significance level have been 0,10 (p0,10) were selected to be part of the multivariate logistic regression model. After the backward process, the final model has been presented with all variables that showed statistical significance (p<0,05). For the presenteeism (numerical outcome) a comparison has been made with the independent variables through the Pearson Correlation Coefficient. In order to evaluate the associations the odds ratio and 95% confidence intervals were calculated. Results: The age was 38,5 ± 10,2 years and 89% were men. After adjusting the covariates, the Baecke HPA score was neither associated with the analyzed outcomes or with the referred morbidity. The hourly employees have shown higher HPA, higher OPA and lower PEL scores when compared to remaining employee groups. The OPA score has been associated with absenteeism (OR=1,63, CI95%=1,31-2,02) and has presented a proximity to the statistical significance (p=0,061) with the health care seek (OR=1,25, CI95%=0,99-1,58), both at the univariate analysis but not confirmed in the multivariate model. The OPA score also showed correlation with the presenteesism (r=0,099, p=0,014). Statistically, it was not significant the association between the LLA score with absenteeism (p=0,053), (OR=0,73, CI95%=0,58-1,00) and health care seek (p=0,067), (OR=0,76, CI95%=0,57-1,02). The OPA and PEL scores have been associated with the presence of referred morbidity, being respectively OR=1,3 (CI95%=1,06-1,61) and OR=0,67 (CI95%=0,54-0,82). Conclusion: The HPA score did not show association with the studied outcomes. The hourly employees have shown higher HPA score once they have more occupational physical activity, regardlees the lower score of physical exercises and sports. Among the three scores evaluated, the occupational was closer to the association with the studied outcomes. The analysis statistic power calculation shows to the need of a higher sample to the denial of the raised hypothesis by this study. The Baecke questionnaire utilization, as opposed to the others instruments that evaluate the energy expenditure not taken into consideration the different types of physical activities, questions the possibility that the higher energy expenditure should be considered a health protector factor.

The Individual, the Work Environment, the Family Environment, and Stress: An Investigation of Selected Variables with Implications for Personnel Management

The application of the systems concept to the individual, the family, and the organization predicts that these systems will interact in such a manner that events in one system will correlate with events in the other systems. The purpose of this study is to investigate one area of system interaction, stress creation and stress outcomes. A search of the literature revealed little empirical research pertaining to the interaction between the family environment and the work environment. However, from the available literature a model of work-family interaction was developed. The model hypothesized specific relation ships between variables within and between the family environment, the work environment, type A behavior, job outcomes of perceived productivity and satisfaction, and the stress outcome of illness. To test the hypothesized relationships of the model a questionnaire was developed and distributed via intercompany mail to mid-level managers of the customer service division of an international airline. Returned usable questionnaires (N = 89) were scored and analyzed using appropriate statistical techniques.

La exposición de los operarios a TME debido al trabajo hombre-máquina es un factor muy presente en las empresas manufactureras. Esto pone en riesgo la integridad física de estos ocasionando secuelas en la salud y el aumento del ausentismo. Este estudio tiene como objetivo rediseñar los puestos de laminado, troquelado, inspección y empaquetado, en una empresa dedicada a la producción de artículos escolares, entre estos el limpiatipo, bajo un enfoque antropométrico con mobiliarios de altura ajustable, que además consideran la economía de movimientos. Adopta el diseño de línea de producción en forma de U, el aprovechamiento de esquinas y ángulos de inclinación de los mobiliarios para mantener mejores posturas de trabajo; además de incluir un nuevo método de transporte y manipulación de materiales basado en el trabajo por lotes apoyado de la inserción de una faja transportadora y FLD para reducir las distancias recorridas. Los resultados de la aplicación del modelo apuntan a una reducción del índice de exposición a TME de 52.19%, la reducción del índice de ausentismo laboral en 44.72% y el incremento de la productividad del trabajador en aproximadamente 32%, validados mediante el software de simulación humano-digital Delmia V5 y el uso de herramientas de evaluación ergonómica como RULA, NIOSH y OCRA Checklist a través del software Ergoniza. Este rediseño ayuda a minimizar las posturas, manipulación de carga y movimientos repetitivos de trabajo que constituyen un factor de riesgo disergonómico con el fin de reducir el alto índice de ausentismo por motivos relacionados al sistema ergonómico. / The exposure of workers to WSMD due to man-machine work is a very present factor in manufacturing companies. This puts their physical integrity at risk, causing health consequences and an increase in absenteeism. The objective of this study is to redesign workstations such as laminating, punching, inspection and packaging in a company dedicated to the production of school supplies, like sticky tac, under an anthropometric approach with height-adjustable furniture, which also considers the economy of movement. Adopts U-shaped production line design, taking advantage of corners and inclination angles of furniture to maintain better working postures; in addition to including a new method of transport and handling of materials based on batch work supported by the insertion of a conveyor belt and FLD to reduce the distances traveled. The results of the application of the model point to reduce the MSD exposure rate of 52.19%, a reduction in the rate of absenteeism by 44.72% and an increase in worker productivity by approximately 32%, validated by simulation software human digital Delmia V5 and the use of ergonomic evaluation tools such as RULA, NIOSH and OCRA Checklist through the Ergoniza software. This redesign helps to minimize postures, load handling and repetitive work movements that constitute a dysergonomic risk factor in order to reduce the high rate of absenteeism for reasons related to the ergonomic system. / Trabajo de investigación

Teacher recruitment and management : current practices and future challenges / Recrutement et gestion des enseignants : pratiques actuelles et enjeux de demain

L'organisation de la fonction publique française connait de profondes mutations depuis le début des années 2000. Cette thèse examine la capacité du système de recrutement et de gestion des enseignants à répondre aux enjeux d'attractivité, d'efficacité et de diversité au cœur des projets actuels de modernisation du système éducatif. Le premier chapitre examine la neutralité du processus de recrutement des enseignants du secondaire vis-à-vis du genre. Il révèle que des biais d'évaluation existent et tendent à favoriser le genre minoritaire, contribuant ainsi à renforcer la mixité au sein des disciplines universitaires. Les deuxième et troisième chapitres examinent la capacité des incitations monétaires, de la demande d'enseignants et des exigences en matière de diplômes à attirer davantage et potentiellement de meilleurs candidats aux postes d'enseignant. Une hausse du niveau de diplôme requis pour enseigner (réforme de la "masterisation") ne semble pas améliorer l'efficacité du recrutement en termes d'attractivité, de profils de compétences et de diversité. Le quatrième chapitre examine la relation entre absentéisme, mobilité et conditions de travail des enseignants. Il montre que les écoles et les directeurs d'école influencent significativement les absences, les départs et le bien-être psychologique des enseignants. Le manque de soutien hiérarchique, les comportements hostiles et l'intensité du travail semblent jouer un rôle particulièrement important. / The organization of the French civil service has undergone profound changes since the early 2000s. This thesis examines the capacity of the teacher recruitment and management system to meet the challenges of attractiveness, efficiency and diversity at the heart of current projects to modernize the education system. The first chapter examines the gender neutrality of the recruitment process for secondary school teachers. It reveals that evaluation biases tend to favor the minority gender and contribute to strengthening the gender diversity within university disciplines. The second and third chapters examine the ability of monetary incentives, teacher demand and degree requirements to attract more and potentially better candidates for teaching positions. An increase in the level of qualification required to teach (from bachelor's to master's level) does not seem to improve the effectiveness of recruitment in terms of attractiveness, skills profiles and diversity. The fourth chapter examines the relationship between absenteeism, mobility and working conditions of teachers. It shows that schools and school principals significantly influence teacher absences, turnover and psychological well-being. Lack of hierarchical support, hostile behaviors and work intensity seem to play a critical role.

Work Limitations and Productivity Loss Are Associated with Health-Related Quality of Life but Not with Clinical Severity in Patients with Psoriasis

Background: According to current guidelines the cost of productivity loss should be considered in pharmacoeconomic analyses. The cost of health-related productivity loss in psoriasis patients is unknown. Objective: To estimate the cost of productivity loss in psoriasis and its association with health-related quality of life and clinical disease severity. Methods: Cross-sectional study, recruitment of adult participants through Internet advertisements. 201 (72.3%) out of 278 eligible participants completed the study. Health-related work productivity loss, quality of life and clinical severity of psoriasis were assessed by standardized instruments. Results: Indirect costs of productivity loss clearly exceed the total direct cost. In contrast to objective clinical disease severity, health-related quality of life (measured by the Dermatology Life Quality Index) is an independent predictor of work productivity. Conclusions: There is good reason to believe that intervention can reduce health-related productivity loss by improving patients’ quality of life. Bakgrund: Andelen elever med problematisk skolfrånvaro ökar, och i takt med det ökar efterfrågan kring ökad kompetens hur skolan kan arbeta tillbaka dessa elever. I detta arbete är elevhälsans professioner och däribland skolsköterskans roll en viktig del. Skolsköterskan har genom sin yrkesroll kunskap om hälsa, hälsoproblematik samt fysisk och psykisk ohälsa. Syfte: Syfte är att beskriva skolsköterskors erfarenheter av att arbeta med elever som har problematisk skolfrånvaro. Metod: Datamaterialet insamlades genom enkät och sammanlagt 19 skolsköterskor besvarade frågeformuläret. En induktiv ansats valdes där datamaterialet analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: Ur datamaterialet framträdde temat säkra en ömsesidig tillit, tre kategorier; anlitas som specialistkompetent, lättillgänglig och insatt i situationen, samordnande länk samt sex underkategorier. Slutsats: Skolsköterskorna upplever att de sällan är delaktiga, varken i det förebyggande eller i det direkta arbetet, med elever som har en problematisk skolfrånvaro utöver att de informeras via elevhälsoteamet. Skolsköterskor är delaktiga i arbetet om det föreligger fysisk eller psykisk orsak till frånvaron. / Background: The proportion of students with problematic school absenteeism is increasing, and in step with this, the demand for increased competence is increasing as to how the school can work back these students. In this work, the student health professions, including the role of the school nurse, are an important part. Aim: Aim is to describe school nurses´ experiences of working with students who have problematic school absence. Method: The data material was collected through a survey and 19 school nurses answered the questionnaire. An inductive approach was chosen where the data material was analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Results: From the data material, the theme of securing mutual trust emerged, three categories; hired as a specialist competence, easily accessible and familiar with the situation, coordinating link and six subcategories. Conclusion: The school nurses experience that they are rarely involved, neither in the prevention nor in the direct work, with students who have a problematic school absence in addition to being informed via the student health team. School nurses are involved in the work if there is a physical or mental reason for the absence.

Att förstå ungdomsbrottslighet med individen i fokus : En allmän litteraturöversikt / Understanding juvenile delinquency with a focus on the individual : A general literature overview

Studiens syfte är att genom en litteraturstudie undersöka psykosociala riskfaktorer till ungdomsbrottslighet. Riskfaktorer som undersöks är individuella attribut, familjeförhållanden, individens egna psykiska förutsättningar, betydelsen av skolgång samt vänner och grupptillhörighet. Då fokus ligger på individen, kommer studien att analyseras utifrån sociala och utvecklingspsykologiska teorier. Forskare i psykologi och kriminologi förklarar att bakomliggande orsaker till att individen begår brott i ung ålder, måste förstås i ett sammanhang med fler faktorer i beaktande, exempelvis individuella egenskaper, men även villkor och erfarenheter i förhållande till dennes miljö. I annan mening krävs det mer än en riskfaktor för att ett brottsligt beteende ska formas, men de betonar däremot att en enda  riskfaktor även kan härleda till en utveckling av fler. Viktigt att belysa är också att sammansättningen av faktorer inte är identiska för varje individ. Ungdomsbrottsligheten kännetecknas av ett reaktivt kriminellt tänkande, vilket innebär att brott i hög utsträckning begås impulsivt och oplanerat. Andra konstaterade riskfaktorer är  ungdomens familjeförhållanden. Att leva i en dysfunktionell familj, präglad av konflikter mellan syskon, otydlig hierarki mellan barn- och föräldraroll, våld i hemmet samt föräldrar med beroendeproblematik av olika substanser och psykiska bekymmer, ökar sannolikheten med 86% för ungdomar att begå våldsbrott. Vidare har det konstaterats att egenskaper såsom spänningssökande, impulsivitet, svårhanterlig aggression, brist på motivation till studier och ambitioner för livet, utgör en riskfaktor för att falla i kriminaliteten. Att ha en ADHD diagnos har också visat sig vara en sårbarhet och cirka var femte interner i den svenska kriminalvården har diagnosen. Även en hög skolfrånvaro och misslyckande med studier är förknippat med en individs uppvisande av våldsamt och kriminellt beteende. Faktum är ungdomar redan inom 12 månader utan skolgång uppvisar ett normbrytande beteende. Slutligen är influenser från vänner avgörande när barnet når tonåren. Att umgås med någon som begår brott utgör en stor riskfaktor för att själv hamna i ungdomsbrottsligheten. / The aim of this literature study is to research the psychosocial (risk) factors behind juvenile criminality. Researchers in psychological and criminological fields explain that, the underlying factors that lead an adolescent to criminality, need to be analysed through multidimensional lenses, since there are several factors leading to juvenile criminality. Usually, there is more than one factor that leads to juvenile delinquency, nevertheless, researchers claim that a single risk factor can also lead to the development of other factors, hence, leading young people to commit crime. It is also important to highlight that the combination of factors is not identical to every individual. Juvenile criminality is characterised by reactive criminal thinking, therefore, crimes are largely committed impulsively and unplanned. Moreover, other established risk factors are the family circumstances of the adolescent. The probability of adolescents committing crime, increases by 86% when living in an environment that is characterised by a dysfunctional family, dominated by sibling conflicts and unclear hierarchy between parents and children, violence in the home, and parents with drug addictions and psychological instability. Furthermore, it is proven that characteristics, such as, sensation seeking, impulsiveness, aggression, lack of educational motivation and lack of life ambitions, are also risk factors for falling into crime. Additionally, having an ADHD diagnosis has also been shown to be a vulnerability and about every fifth inmate in the Swedish prison system has the diagnosis. Moreover, school absenteeism and failure to study are also associated with an individual's display of violent and criminal behavior. In fact, adolescents who have been 12 months without schooling, show a norm-breaking behavior. Finally, the influence of friends is crucial when the child reaches adolescence. Hence, spending time with someone who commits a crime is a major risk factor for the individual to fall into juvenile delinquency.

Varför ska vi gå till skolan? : En kvalitativ studie om skolk på gymnasiet utifrån ett sociologiskt perspektiv / Why should we go to school? : A qualitative study about absenteeism among high-school students

The aim of this paper is exploring questions regarding the problem of absenteeism among high-school students in Sweden. Fifteen students attending an urban high-school have been interviewed about their views and experiences of absenteeism. The author analyzes the students’ answers by taking into account two different sociological approaches which give two different explanations about the way young people experience and estimate education. The French sociologist Bourdieu theorized that differences in cultural capital influence the permanent internalization of patterns of thought and behavior. Bourdieu defined as habitus the result of the process of internalization of cultural and social structures which affects the way individuals think and act. The German pedagogue Thomas Ziehe explored the changes in norms and tradition connected with the modernization of society. Ziehe argued that we are witnessing a period of cultural release and erosion crisis that have deeply affected and changed the lives of young people today.  What does influence students’ attitude towards absenteeism? Does absenteeism reflect different possession of cultural resources or may be explained by the changes in norms that have occurred over recent decades? The findings of this study show that the students’ socio-economical background still matters in affecting their opinions and attitude towards absenteeism, but that is not an exhaustive argument in explaining all the reasons why students do not go till school. The students’ answer suggested that the relation to the teacher may be a determining factor in explaining absenteeism.
