Transição entre os comportamentos estendido e localizado em caminhadas estocásticas parcialmente auto-repulsivas em sistemas desordenados unidimensionais / Transition between the extended and localized regimes in stochastic partially self-avoiding walks in one-dimensional disordered systems

Berbert, Juliana Militão da Silva 25 September 2009 (has links)
Consider $N$ sites randomly and uniformly distributed in a $d$-dimensional hypercube. A walker explores this disordered medium going to the nearest site, which has not been visited in the last $\\mu$ (memory) steps. The walker trajectory is composed of a transient part and a periodic part (cycles). In this case, travelers can or cannot explore all available space, given rise to a crossover at critical memory, for one-dimensional systems $\\mu_1=\\log_2{N}$, between localized and extended regimes. % as function of $\\mu$. The deterministic rule can be softened to consider more realistic situations with the inclusion of a stochastic parameter $T$ (temperature). In this case, the walker movement is defined by a probability density function (PDF) that is parameterized by $T$ and a cost function, which increases as the distance among sites increases. The PDF is chosen to favor hops to nearest sites. As the temperature increases, the walker can escape from cycles and extend the exploration. Here we report the analytical and numerical studies of the influence of the temperature and the critical memory in the exploration of a one-dimensional disordered system.

The Research on Establishing A Sustainable and Accessible Pedestrian Environment

Shan-Ju Lin Unknown Date (has links)
Though the implementation of barrier-free environment on Taiwan has been up to and assured by Constitution, the concept of sustainable development still seldom showed in the construction of barrier-free environment for the pedestrians. Moreover, in all domestic and foreign literatures conducted and analyzed in the study, it does not discuss whether the construction is consonant with the concept of sustainable development solely through the viewpoint of pedestrians’ barrier-free transit environment. Therefore, the study adopted the nine principles put forward by the NRTEE concern to explore whether the promotions of a barrier-free environment for the pedestrians by the U.S., U.K., and Japan are consistent with their sustainable development policies. Subsequently, the study tried to give suggestions on pedestrians’ barrier-free environment related laws, regulations, policies, and programs through examining the experience of previous 3 countries as well as the principles of OECD. The study hoped to realize the constructing concept of a barrier-free environment for pedestrians through an innovative link and to make pedestrian transport sustainable. Hopefully the study could lead researchers a new way of thinking. The research scope of the study is limited only in the sidewalks in pedestrian transport. The whole barrier-free environment, however, involves assistance facilities, buildings, construction facilities, vehicles, and public transport. Therefore, more endeavors on in-depth studies in previous related fields should be done to create an integral barrier-free environment with sustainable development spirit.

Widany, Anne-Kathrin 11 March 2011 (has links) (PDF)
The present study traces the hypothesis that joint building ventures as a form of living, that is affected by the community and the cohabit, in view of the demographic change and its effects, are suit to lifelong occupancy. To be proved are the structural and architectural, but also the social and organizational conditions using the example of 13 joint building ventures in Dresden. Finally there are measures and recommendations for future building owners and architects on hand.

lowercase t (parting with and for caps lock Moondialed No +***** *****8 [Orbituary]) : Mezzanine 2

Degrér, Christofer January 2018 (has links)
When I write I, I also write we (say we also write that we’re momentarily in possession of the possibilities, and as for the possibilities: they have us), as in my hyperbolic twin brother and I, and from that point on (as well as before) in company with the gaps between us. The auto-corrections, the imposed circumstances, the complicities, and some conspirationalist copings within a system with no clearly identifiable nemesis. Here, the act of resistance to whatever is playing us, also enacts the playing of that which plays us. The heinous power of family and narrative insists. Two lead narratives are interwoven during the course of time it took for a pizza to be delivered (from pizzeria Marco Polo): Looping on a Panasonic Viera TX-55AX630E, the  search for a/my lost and/or hidden dad arrives through the mispronunciation of the word “that” during a negotiation in a park. Where a tangled hypothesis, along the lines of “what if the plot device of a shot of a moon in a video used to forward time (as in an alternative to ‘later that night’) was a graphic representation of an analog clock recognized in a to-be sliced pizza that is eventually consumed as a means to induce a food coma?” takes place (and time, as saved time is always already lost). It’s almost dark already. Also it's not, and the future held hostage by the river of the forest of the woods is followed by the sense of not being able to tell if there’s an emotion or a feeling present. Visits from passed pasts. It all starts to feel originatory. Thanks to X, this keeps on happening, thoughts and behaviours about suspicious timing and holistic systems keep on happening. This keeps on happening, and it works its way into physical works in an exhibition space with no reference to an infirmary, where parrot tulips are emotional flowers, a print is printed using a temperamental printer, sawdust creates glossy eyes, and all locked doors are eventually keyed out. An investigation into conditions of influence, co-authorship, connectivity, all within a space cohabited by comedy, sentimentality, and other states subject to flatness.

Critical analysis of adolescent reproductive health services in Gauteng Province

Magwentshu, Beatrice Makgoale 11 1900 (has links)
Adolescent reproductive health services (ARHS) in Gauteng Province are not meeting the reproductive health needs of adolescents. There is also no formalised adolescent/youth policy laid down to assess the quality of care given to adolescents attending these clinics although the policy is currently in the process of being finalised. The purpose of the study therefore was to critically analyse the ARHS in Gauteng Province to determine which adolescents attended the clinics, whether the clinics were accessible and available and whether they provided comprehensive care, gave information and counselling to the adolescent and whether the clinics \\·ere adolescent-friendly. Using the quality care model as the conceptual framework for the study, the following research questions were asked to determine the quality of care in terms of the adolescent's needs at these clinics: Who is the adolescent using ARHS in Gauteng Province') Are the ARHS in Gauteng Province accessible and available to adolescents? Do the ARHS in Gauteng Province provide comprehensive care to adolescents? Are adolescents receiving information and counselling from the ARHS in Gauteng Province? Are the ARHS in Gauteng Province adolescent-friendly? A quantitative cross-sectional exploratory, descriptive research design using a self-administered, researcher designed questionnaire was used to collect data from a 203 nonprobability convenient sample, at selected ARHS in Gauteng Province. The analysed data indicated that females in the older age group. ie 18-19 years used the ARHS more than the female adolescents in the younger age group and males. Findings also indicated that the ARHS in Gauteng Province are geographically accessible and available to adolescents. However, there appeared to be a need to extend the days and hours of functioning of the ARHS so as to make them more accessible and available to adolescents. Comprehensive care is not given to adolescents attending ARHS. Adolescent gave contradictory mformation especially with regard to the attitudes of service providers. Recommendations made include management strategies that will attract the adolescent in the younger age group and in particular the male adolescent. This necessitated that service providers at ARHS be equipped with the appropriate information given in an outcome-based format in adolescent care. / Health Studies / D. Litt. et Phil. Towards more inclusive university curricula : the learning experiences of visually impaired students in higher education institutions of Ethiopia

Yohannes Gebretsadik Gebrehiwot 06 1900 (has links)
This research was conducted on inclusive education in HEIs of Ethiopia. Its main purpose was to investigate, as case studies, the learning experiences of students with visual impairments (SVI) in two HEIs. The study was undertaken having realized the research gap that exists in the area of the inclusiveness of HEIs in Ethiopia. In order to conduct the research, a qualitative methodology was followed. The data collection methods used were individual interviews and observations. Data were collected from students with visual impairments, their instructors, department/school heads, college deans and disability centre coordinators. In addition, observations were made in library facilities and classes. The process of data analysis was started by considering the major curriculum elements as general categories following LeCompte and Preissle‟s typological analysis strategy. Atlas.ti computer software was used to code, categorize and manage the data. The theory that was primarily used to examine and understand the learning experiences of SVI in the higher education context was Bronfenbrenner's bio-ecological systems theory. In addition, the biopsychosocial model of disability and the accommodation model (in contrast to the UDL model) were considered. The study resulted in the following major findings: SVI, in many cases, were not assigned to the departments of their interest; the curricula of the HEIs were highly inflexible and did not consider SVI needs; there was limited access to curricular materials in assessment formats; there was limited use of assistive technology; assessment practices were largely unfair to SVI; the learning environment was less friendly to SVI; the support SVI get from their institutions was inadequate and disorganized; and instructors made little effort to accommodate the learning needs of SVI during class teaching. The findings also showed that there were no significant differences of perceptions among SVI of the two institutions. Based on the findings of the research some conclusions are drawn. In addition, some recommendations were suggested to improve policy and practice based on SVI responses and the researcher's own reflections on the study‟s findings. Recommendations for future research were also made. / Inclusive Education / D. Ed. (Inclusive Education)

The automorphism group of accessible groups and the rank of Coxeter groups / Groupe d'automorphismes des groupes accessibles et le rang des groupes de Coxeter

Carette, Mathieu 30 September 2009 (has links)
