La rivalité amoureuse entre père et fils sur la scène française du XVIIe siècle : un schème transgénérique (1631-1685) / The Amorous Rivalry between Father and Son in Seventeenth Century French Theatre : a Dramatic Scheme across Genres

Beer, Cécile 20 June 2013 (has links)
This thesis questions the scheme of the amorous rivalry between father and son which was used for the first time in all genres in seventeenth century French theatre. The research is based on a representative corpus of three dramatic genres of the period – comedy, tragi-comedy and tragedy – and includes about forty plays. The objective of this study is to demonstrate that this dramatic structure is doubly subversive in the period of the seventeenth century. On the aesthetic level, this conflict overcomes the stage even though the theoretic discourses of the period aimed to separate and classify dramatic genres according to a hierarchical system. The thesis studies the strategies developed by dramatists to adapt this dramatic scheme to aesthetic rules specific to each dramatic genre. On the ideological level, this type of conflict brings out the rivalry between the two representative males of the lineage. In the particular context of the seventeenth century, defined by historians as “l’âge d’or des pères”, this leads to reconsideration of the sociopolitical and religious functioning of the so-called “Ancien Regime”. Through the triumph of the rival son, is the authority of the patriarch challenged, and consequently, the one of the king in the state? Or, on the contrary, does the highlighting of the victory of the rival father reassert the legitimacy of the well-founded system? Would the rivalry between father and son, under its gallant appearances, bring a more serious speech and reveal an evolution in society? How does the gallantry, by transcending the limits of the dramatic genres, question politics? This study is based on these two aesthetic and ideological questions.

The theme of love is discussed aiming to analyze the manifestations that appear under its name. Love is a subject approached by different areas of knowledge, what doesn t strain its study. In this study, I focus on the love of a straight couple in the twentieth-one century and the discursive manifestations willing the amorous accomplishment. The research objective is the constitution of amorous discourse as an autonomous discourse. My investigation will be driven by the recognition of linguistic mechanisms that structure the amorous discourse; also, using the inter-discourse postulation, to analyze the mechanisms of discourse to recognize the discursive field of love; to reflect if there is different characteristics in this discourse when compared with political discourses, e.g. I start from the hypothesis that the amorous discourse is an atopic discourse belonging to discursive field of love. The atopia of this discourse is characterized by the restricted manifestation of the speakers, so I tend to justify this hypothesis though the reflection about atopia and the discursive peculiarities. Another hypothesis to analyze this discourse is the ethos and the split in ethosessence, alter-ethos and alter-essence. That made, I will verify if there are unfolding in the discourse under analysis and to confirm if this ethical manifestations occur and the effects provoked though discourse. The methodology used is the interpretation of the selected amorous discourses and the application of analysis categories: discursive field, inter-discourse and ethos. The theoretical foundation used is french discourse analysis, mainly, supported by Dominique Maingueneau works. The results of this research pointed that the amorous discourse can be considered a discourse and that love discursive field is based upon a historical and social archive. The research also showed that is possible the unfolding of ethos and its manifestations in the amorous discourse. The social issue of love was approached through seduction. The love in its discourse appeared to be strong, firm; but also fragile and manipulator / Esta pesquisa trata do discurso amoroso e sua constituição.

Taketori Monogatari: a obra e o discurso (pretensamente) amoroso / Taketori Monogatari: the work and the the (supposed) love discourse

Abreu, Thiago Cosme de 24 February 2016 (has links)
Regarded as \"the ancestor of all monogatari narratives\" since Classical Japan, Taketori monogatari is the most ancient piece of work in monogatari genre. Written probably between the 9th and 10th centuries, the narrative tells the story of Kaguyahime, from the moment she was found by the character whose name is in the title of the narrative until she is taken back to her homeland. The episodes starred by the five noble men who wish to marry her occupy the most of the narrative and are thought, by the Japanese scholars, to be exclusively Taketori monogatari author\'s creation. Considering the Japanese scholars\' view and supported by Roland Barthes\'s treatise on amorous discourse, we aimed to expose the way the discourse spoken by Kaguyahime and her suitors is built in those supposedly romantic episodes.

This dissertation aims to reflect about the amorous and sexual trajectories of positive HIV people. This research is characterized by two different periods of contact with participants. The first time, we conducted a mapping, using of structured interviews, with the help of field journal, where it was possible to contact a larger number of participants. It was important for a wider view on the main strategies used by these people to experience the love and sex from the discovery of the positive diagnosis for HIV. In the second stage of the research, we sought a deeper reflection, with attention to subjectivity, through in-depth interviews for life story. Four interviews were conducted with people of different genders, sexual orientation and generation. The narratives produced by individuals interviewed in two moments of research have shown us the importance of a questioning in the context of public health, the discourses that make subjects positions and go through their lives conforming subjectivities, regulatory ideals, disciplinary and biopolitical of modern Western society. Accordingly, in basis of the discourse analysis from Foucault, we propose highlight this subjects, hindered in their rights, by discursive network consisting of relations of know/power so complex and multifaceted. We analyze the discourses of aids, of risk, of romantic love and of the challenge related to the revelation of the positive diagnosis for HIV, which emerged in the various interviews. It was possible to realize the many exclusions, demarcations and impossibilities generated by these discourses. Supporting on the feminist theories, we seek to find possibilities of subversion of the standard, as a form of resistance and confrontation, privileging the Stories of our interlocutors, as a provocation built by many voices.

Une approche linguistique et phénoménologique de la sémantique du mot amour / A linguistic and phenomenological approach of the semantics of the word amour

Dupuis, France 09 December 2011 (has links)
Construction of the semantic form “amour”. The core of this work is a phenomenological endeavourtargeting the emergence of meaning considered as the result of a conceptualizing process rooted inaffective and perceptual experience. Three intertwined strata of meaning can be observed in thesemantics of the word. These take an active part in the global construction of the form via each ofthese strata, namely the germ-motif stratum, the profiling-unfolding process stratum and the thematicdiscursiveone. The latter notions make it possible to open the creative space of meaning in a trulyoriginal fashion. This creative space results from the intertwining of perception, language and thevarious modalities of self-appropriation of the phenomenon arising in /and through a discourse on loveand the amorous discourse. The word amour polarizes a movement dynamics within the amorousdiscourse. This word is anchored to the heterogeneous “motif” of a dynamic power liable to surpassthe process per se such as linked to its object. It is a vehicle for aesthesic, axiological andpraxeological properties. The phenomenology of the word amour mostly expands in the domain ofqualitative and poetic figures as well as metaphorizing constructions. In the latter domain, figures andconstructions aim at uniting the perceptive and thematic fields, thus enabling the speaker, thoughpartially only, to grasp his amorous experience as well as to express his own impressions andfeelings.

Homicide-suicide: common factors in South African Police Service members who kill their spouse or consort and themselves

Van Den Heever, Coenraad Willem 10 1900 (has links)
Homicide-Suicide (H-S) is a rare but violent event in which an individual commits homicide and thereafter commits suicide. The H-S phenomenon appears to be increasing among members of the South African Police Service (SAPS). Although research on H-S is sparse, several SA studies have implicated the SAPS as a high risk occupational group for such killings. However, no systematic research that focuses on police H-S has ever been conducted within the RSA. The aim of this thesis is to determine the underlying causes of police H-S killings. The current national study included thirty-eight (38) police H-S cases over a two-year period (2012-2013). The macro, meso, and micro levels of analysis were utilised to study this phenomenon and to test both the socio-cultural and intrapsychic explanations of H-S. A mixed method approach was utilised, which involved both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Information on H-S was collected via document analysis and interviews with survivors of an H-S attack. The data obtained from the documents were coded on the SAPS “Homicide-Suicide Incidence Coding Form” and the results of this analysis were presented graphically in both tables and charts. Three interviews were conducted with the survivors of these attacks and were qualitatively analysed. The SAPS displayed an H-S incidence rate of 24.27 per 100 000 police officers. A typical police H-S perpetrator is likely to be a black African male who is 35 years old with a Grade 12 education. He would hold the rank of a constable and would have a history of domestic abuse. His victim would usually be an intimate partner of the same race who would be younger than him. She would be employed as an administrative clerk and would be shotand killed multiple times by her amorous jealous boyfriend due to a heated argument or quarrel. The service pistol would be used to commit both H-S killings. Four main themes emerged from the transcripts, namely: Patriarchal dynamics in H-S relationships, Financial issues and the patriarchal order, The death wish (“Thanatos”) of the perpetrator and the H-S survivors as double victims. On the macro level, partial support was found for social integration theory, while the meso and micro levels of analysis supported the psychodynamic perspective. / Psychology / D. Litt. et Phil.
