Relatos sobre autismo: um estudo sobre narrativas em primeira pessoa / Representing autism: a study of first-person narratives

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Este trabalho tem como tema central autobiografias escritas por indivíduos com autismo. A partir dos enredos que conduzem as narrativas, pretende-se mostrar como elas afetam e contribuem para visões existentes sobre autismo. O traço relevante e singular deste estudo é sua proposta de sublinhar a narrativa em primeira pessoa, as maneiras pelas quais eles se identificam e redefinem as noções existentes sobre autismo como categoria psiquiátrica. O objetivo é compreender as diferentes formas como os autistas se adaptam, negociam, resistem ou até mesmo criam novas normas para lidar com sua condição. Como ferramenta teórica, foram tomadas as ideias do filósofo canadense Ian Hacking, sobre tipos humanos e efeito looping, para analisar como as pessoas classificadas ou autoclassificadas ressignificam, através de suas experiências, as tipificações sobre autismo. As narrativas selecionadas não só permitem que autistas compartilhem suas experiências com o mundo, mas também ampliem os sentidos que atribuímos ao autismo como experiência e como diagnóstico. / The central theme of this work is related to the autobiographies of autistic individuals. Our objective is to demonstrate how these narratives affect and contribute to the current view of autism. The most relevant and unique aspect of this study is to highlight the autistics selfperception and the way in which they identify themselves with prevailing psychiatric notions and many times redefine them. Our objective is to understand the many different ways in which they adapt, negotiate, resist and find new forms to deal with their condition. We use philosopher Ian Hackings theory about human types and looping effect in order to analyze how classified or self-classified individuals through their own experiences give a new significance to the typifications of autism.

Produção de autobiografias por alunos do 6º ano do ensino fundamental como forma de refletir sobre trajetórias de vida e desenvolver noções do trabalho do historiador

Este trabalho apresenta pesquisa que busca, por meio da produção de autobiografias por alunos de sexto ano, possibilitar reflexões sobre trajetórias de vida, bem como desenvolver noções do trabalho do historiador, em especial o uso de fontes históricas. Para atingir este objetivo, promoveram-se encontros com os alunos nos quais se desenvolveu a caracterização das escritas de si, principalmente as autobiografias. Posteriormente o trabalho apresentou aos alunos informações sobre fontes históricas e buscou-se instrumentalizá-los para o uso de memórias, fotografias e relatos orais para a confecção de seus escritos. Autores como Gomes, Lejeune, Ricoeur, Freud, Selligmann-Silva, entre outros, foram essenciais para orientar e analisar as produções feitas. No relato destas vidas, imaginava-se o encontro de recordações traumáticas, em um número elevado, o que não se concretizou quando se iniciou a leitura das produções. A riqueza de situações apresentadas pelos trabalhos justifica o uso das autobiografias para percepção de trajetórias de vida e para o ensino de fontes históricas. / The present work introduces research that aims, using the production of autobiographies by students of the sixth year, to enable reflections on trajectory of lives, as well as develop notions of the work of the historian, specially the usage of historical sources. To reach this objective, meetings with the students were promoted in which the characterization of the self writings were developed, mainly the autobiographies. Then the work presented to the students information about historical sources and, aimed to give them instruments to the usage of memories, photography, and oral reports to the making of their writings. Authors such as Gomes, Lejeune, Ricoeur, Freud, Selligmann-Silva and others were essential to guide and analyze the productions that were made. In the report of these lives, it was thought to find many traumatic memories, which was not confirmed once the reading of the productions began. The richness of situations presented by the works justifies the usage of autobiographies to realize the trajectory of life and to the teaching of historical sources.

Tive algumas surpresas quanto a isso. Em consonância com metodologias investigativas contemporâneas no que tange à subjetividade, como cartografia, escritas de si, e principalmente A/r/tografia, pude realizar, no presente estudo, uma jornada de autoconhecimento. Através de uma escrita autobiográfica imagética/poética/(re)inventiva, tenho como objetivo, investigar alguns problemas que levantei enquanto educador. Em cursos particulares que ministro, de história em quadrinhos, desenvolvi propostas utilizando minhas referências pessoais como pontos de partida para a criação de práticas docentes lúdicas com base em narrativas autobiográficas. Matéria primordial do trabalho que aqui se apresenta, aquelas experiências pedagógicas evidenciam a busca por uma identidade metodológica através de dinâmicas era evocada a subjetividade dos alunos muito mais do que apenas transmitir informações técnicas. Corte e Sutura é, portanto, uma pesquisa de caráter processual, em constantes transformações e que aqui não se encerra. Ao contrário, o final desta etapa oferece possibilidades variadas de futuras investigações. / Cut and suture deals with something I thought I understood very well: me. I had a few surprises in this regard. In accordance with contemporary investigative methodologies regarding subjectivity, such as cartography, written by itself, and principally A/r/tography, I was able to carry out, in the present study, a journey of self-knowledge. Through autobiographical imagery / poetic / (re) inventive writing, I aim to investigate some problems that I identified as an educator. In particular courses that minister, comic book, I developed proposals using my personal references as starting points for the creation of playful teaching practices based on autobiographical narratives. Primordial subject of the work presented here, those pedagogical experiences evidence the search for a methodological identity through dynamics was evoked the subjectivity of the students much more than just convey technical information. Cut and Suture is, therefore, a research of processual character, in constant transformation and that does not end here. To the contrary, the end of this stage offers varied possibilities for future investigations.

Cette thèse étudie les textes hiéroglyphiques connus sous le nom de « Recommandations aux prêtres » ou « Instructions aux clergé » et gravés dans certaines portes latérales de service des temples ptolémaïques et romains d’Edfou, de Kom Ombo, d’Isis et d’Hathor à Dendera et de Philae. Elle consiste en la publication d’une copie révisée et corrigée et d’une traduction des Recommandations aux prêtres, ainsi qu’en une analyse linéaire et une étude comparative des différentes versions de ces textes. Elle s’attache à proposer une définition et une nouvelle délimitation du corpus, et à formuler des hypothèses quant à la nature des Recommandations aux prêtres et à leur transmission. En effet, hormis celle du temple de Philae, les autres versions appartiennent à la même tradition textuelle. Nous montrons ainsi que c’est bien sous Ptolémée VIII Évergète II que les Recommandations aux prêtres ont été élaborées et rédigées, à Edfou. Elles se sont ensuite diffusées sur les sites de Dendera et de Kom Ombo. Les Recommandations d’Edfou constituent un ensemble homogène et affichent un caractère littéraire nettement marqué. Elles s’apparentent ainsi à un texte de Sagesse. À Dendera et à Kom Ombo, en revanche, c’est la dimension rituelle des textes qui a été mise en avant. La recherche systématique de parallèles phraséologiques et thématiques, principalement dans les autobiographies sacerdotales du premier millénaire, permet d’avancer que les Recommandations d’Edfou furent élaborées à partir d’un noyau textuel antérieur, vraisemblablement thébain. Les Recommandations de Philae, en regard, par leur contenu et leur nature, font figure d’isolat. / This thesis studies the hieroglyphical texts known as “Recommendations to the priests” or “Instructions to the clergy”. They are carved on some of the lateral service entrances in the ptolemaic and roman temples of Edfu, Kom Ombo, Isis and Hathor at Dendera, and Philae. The thesis consists in a revised and corrected copy and a translation of the Recommendations to the priests, as well as in a linear analysis and a comparative study of the different versions of these texts. The aims are to provide a definition and a new delimitation of the corpus, and to formulate hypotheses about the nature and transmission of the Recommendations to the priests. Indeed, apart from the version of Philae, the other versions belong to the same textual tradition. This thesis shows that the Recommendations to the priests were written and elaborated at Edfu, under the reign of Evergete II. They have later on been spread to Dendera and Kom Ombo. At Edfu, the Recommendations form an homogeneous set, written in a clear literary style. They could be related to a Teaching Text. By contrast, at Kom Ombo and Dendera, the ritual aspect of the texts has been emphasized. The search for phraseological and thematical parallels –mainly in priestly autobiographies from the First Millennium– points to the conclusion that the Recommendations of Edfu were elaborated from a previous textual core, possibly coming from Thebes. By comparison, based on their content and nature, the Recommendations of Philae seem to be an isolate.

The aim of this study was to examine the experience among women who have been victims for domestic violence in heterosexual relationships. More specifically the purpose of this study was to gain an understanding when it comes to how women manage to live with the violence and also to examine why some women are staying in the relationship despite being exposed to violence. Another purpose was to find out how women experienced support from authorities if they requested such support. The study was based on reading five autobiographies written by women who have been in a relationship with partner who was abusive both physically and mentally. The normalization process and emotions as a theory were used as theoretical perspectives. The results showed that the women of the study tended to get used to the violence over time and that they started to accept it as a part of their relationship. Another result of the study was that the women felt feelings of shame which resulted in the fact that they kept quiet about the violence and therefore stayed in the relationship. Lastly one of the main results of the study showed that women overall did not feel satisfied with the help and support that they gained from authorities.

Bakgrund: Amyotrofisk lateralskleros (ALS) är en motorneuronsjukdom orsakad avnedbrytning och död av motorneuron, vilket leder till förlorad funktion i tillhörande muskler då nervsignaler uteblir. Personer med ALS är en sårbar grupp med begränsad möjlighet att uttrycka sig för omvärlden. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att genom ALS-drabbades narrativ identifiera beskrivningar av upplevelser och hur dessa företer sig under sjukdomsförloppet. Metod: Studien bygger på en kvalitativ ansats som analyserat självbiografier skrivna avpersoner med ALS, utifrån en innebördsanalys. Resultat: Sjukdomen medför mångdimensionella dilemman av existentiella slag som bidrar till lidande och att familjen har en betydelsefull roll i den ALS-drabbades mående. De främsta anledningarna till lidande är rädslan för påverkad värdighet och utanförskap. Konklusion: Sjuksköterskan har en central funktion i vårdandet av ALS-drabbade. God förståelse i de drabbades tankar och upplevelser är en förutsättning för att ge god vård och etablera trygghet. Sjuksköterskan ska sträva efter att skapa en god relation med den ALS-drabbade och anhörig för att kunna bidra till stöttning ur ett helhetsperspektiv och därifrån utöka möjligheten till välbefinnande. / Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a motor neuron disease caused by gradual deterioration and death of motor neurons, resulting in loss of function in the associated muscles due to the lack of nerve signals. People with ALS are a vulnerable group with physically limited ability to express themselves. Aim: The aim of this study was to identify and follow experiences of living with ALS, by examining narratives of ALS affected persons. Method: The study is based on a qualitative approach with a content analysis of autobiographies written by people with ALS. Results: The disease causes multidimensional dilemmas of existential kinds that contribute to suffering and that family is an important part that affects the perception of the disease. The primary causes of suffering are found to be the fear of affected personal dignity and alienation. Conclusion: The nurse has a central function in the care of ALS-affected persons. The nurse must strive to establish a good relationship with the caretaker and their relatives, thus striving to maximize the support from a holistic perspective, which increases the possibility for the caretaker to experience well-being.

Bakgrund: Bipolär sjukdom är en kronisk sjukdom som kännetecknas av kraftiga humörsvängningar i maniska och depressiva skov. Den har påverkan på personens livsvärld och upplevelse av hälsa. Sjukdomen är kronisk och för med sig lidande för personen. Sjuksköterskan har en väsentlig roll i att ge stöd och undervisning. Syfte: Är att beskriva personers upplevelser av att leva med bipolär sjukdom. Metod: Kvalitativ metod där fem självbiografier lästes. Analysmetoden är analys av narrativer. Resultat: I resultatet framkom det sex kategorier. Dessa är: den känslomässiga berg och dalbanan, den euforiska gränslösheten, som mörkast före gryning, den annorlunda verkligheten, påverkan på det vardagliga, i kontakt med vården. Diskussion: Personer med bipolär sjukdom upplever hälsa, ohälsa och lidande beroende på vilket skov i sjukdom de befinner sig i. Det är viktigt att ha personer i sin omgivning som är förstående och bryr sig för att kunna finna ro. Sjuksköterskan agerar som stöd i det dynamiska humöret hos personerna och kan bidra med information för att lättare hantera sjukdomen. Konklusion: Att leva med bipolär sjukdom innebär ett ständigt varierande humör. Vården ska vara öppen och bemöta personen i dennes livsvärld. Det är viktigt som sjuksköterska att skapa balans för att lindra lidande och uppmuntra till hälsa. / Background: Bipolar disorder is a chronic condition which is characterised by elevated mood swings with manic and depressive episodes. It has impact on the person’s lifeworld and his or her experience of health. The chronic disorder causes suffering for the person. The essential role of the nurse is to be supportive and educate. Aim: To describe peoples’ experiences to live with bipolar disorder. Method: A qualitative study were five autobiographies was studied. The method of analytics is narrative analysis. Results: The result has six categories. Those are: the emotional rollercoaster, the euphoric boundlessness, darkest before dawn, the different reality, impact on the social life, in contact with care. Discussion: People with bipolar disorder experiences health, illness and suffering depending on which episode they are in. It’s important to have people in their vicinity who is understanding and who cares to find peace. The nurse acts as support in the dynamic mood swings the people can have and can contribute with information how to handle the disorder. Conclusion: To live with bipolar disorder means constant mood swings. The care should have a open mind and answer to the person in their lifeworld. It’s important as nurse to create a balance to ease suffering and encourage health.

Demenssjukdomens konsekvenser för anhöriga : En studie av anhörigas skildringar genom självbiografier / The consequences of dementia for relatives : A study of relatives descriptions through autobiographies

Dementia has become to be named the ‘relative’s illness’ as a result of the physical and psychological effects that the relatives experience, due to the fact that the patient goes through many changes within the course of the disease. In addition, individuals suffering from dementia receive more help from their relatives compared to individuals suffering from other diseases or disabilities. Therefore, it is important to address to relative’s individual needs connecting to the caregiving role. The aim of this qualitative study was to examine how relatives to individuals suffering from dementia are affected by the role of caregiving. We conducted a thematic text analysis of our empirical material consisting of three autobiographies, written by relatives of those suffering from dementia. By reading the material and categorising the topics the authors wrote about, three main themes were identified: Relatives as caregivers, Health effects of caregiving and Emotional strain.  The results showed that the author’s experienced several different aspects of how they were affected as caregivers. For instance, all three author’s described how their role with their loved one changed. Another result shown was that the author’s experienced how their health deteriorated, both physically and psychologically, and it was repeatedly described how they felt lonely and forgotten. The authors also described how the caregiving role resulted in positive experiences such as personal development. Strongly prominent was the author’s experiences of how the dementia caused strong feelings of grief. In conclusion the findings highlight how important it is to shed light on the relative’s role and their wellbeing.

Bakgrund: Årligen insjuknar upp till 2 000 personer i Sverige i någon form av psykos. Symtom som hallucinationer, vanföreställningar och förändrad verklighetstolkning är vanligt förekommande. Psykossjukdomar är svåra att upptäcka i tid och att helt bota vilket innebär en utmaning för sjuksköterskan och vården i allmänhet. För många medför tillståndet svårigheter i arbetslivet och i relationer. De fördomar om psykoser som florerar i samhället leder ofta till känslan av ett utanförskap. Metod: En kvalitativ innehållsanalys av fyra självbiografier genomfördes, med en induktiv ansats. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att belysa upplevelser av att ha en psykos. Resultat: I resultatet framkom två teman: Känslor och Verklighetsförankring. Vid en psykos upplevs ofta det egna känsloregistret som förändrat. Känslor som maktlöshet och övergivenhet var framträdande. En förändrad verklighetstolkning förde med sig en känsla av identitetsförlust och att inte kunna kommunicera med omvärlden. Relationer baserade på tillit och visad medmänsklighet från såväl vårdpersonal som närstående var av betydelse för välmåendet. Konklusion: Psykos innebär ett stort och komplext lidande för den drabbade. Det krävs att sjuksköterskan och annan vårdpersonal, oavsett vårdområde, har kunskap och erfarenhet kring psykossjukdomar för att kunna tillhandahålla en god och personcentrerad omvårdnad. / Background: Every year, up to 2 000 people in Sweden fall ill due to some form of psychosis. Hallucinations, delusions and altered interpretation of reality are common symptoms. Psychotic illnesses are difficult to detect in time and completely cure, which generally creates a challenge for nurses and caregivers. For many, the illness can lead to difficulties in working life as well as relationships. Psychosis and the prejudices that follow within society are shown to often lead to feelings of exclusion. Method: A qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach of four autobiographies was conducted. Aim: The aim of this study is to illustrate the experience of being psychotic. Findings: The result revealed two themes: Emotions and Reality Anchoring. In a psychosis, one's own emotional register is often experienced as changed. Emotions such as powerlessness and abandonment were prominent. A changed interpretation of reality brought about feeling of a loss of identity as well as not being able to communicate with the outside world. Relationships based on trust and compassion from both caregivers and relatives were important for the well-being of the patient. Conclusion: To experience a psychosis means a great and complex suffering for the one who is affected. Nurses and other caregivers, regardless of care area, are required to have knowledge and experience of psychosis in order to be able to provide good and person-centered care.
