: A graphic exploration of a craft company for the purpose of establishing oneself online.

Arve, Mårten January 2021 (has links)
This is a study of a small craftwork establishment, and the balance between creating a graphicidentity and maintaining the essence and voice that has been developed through the company’s30 year history. Through close collaboration with the clients we have pinpointed thebrand personality and how they want their visual identity to be represented towards potentialfuture clients. To establish this I have used the methods of participatory design through interviews, workshop and business model canvas. For the end result I have developed a graphicidentity that contains a website, logotype, social media presence on Facebook and Instagram, and designed a sendout that will be targeted towards their more desirable clients. I have alsoproduced a short film to present both of them as creators and th eir products and will be thelarger piece of the storytelling aspect of my work. The company has also undergone a namechange to better reflect the business.

eHealth development in Sweden : A study of prominent aspects and benefits from a multi-user perspective / eHälsa-utveckling i Sverige : En studie om framträdande aspekter och fördelar utifrån ett fleranvändarperspektiv

Sobin, Jonathan, Jakobsson, Ludvig January 2014 (has links)
The European health care is facing challenges with an increasing ageing population, with a higher frequency of chronic diseases, which have resulted in rising health care costs. Meanwhile, the trend shows how patients and citizens are becoming more active in their personal health care, with the number of existing doctors and nurses subsiding furthermore entailing problems. The area of eHealth, which involves information and communication technologies with health care, is hence seen as a partial long-term solution and is considered being a rapidly growing market both in Sweden, but also in Europe. eHealth services further consider to promote increased access, mobility and interoperability in the health care, but the lack of wholehearted commitment, financial support and complex EHR-systems in Sweden's municipalities and county councils might partially impeding down the development. The purpose of this report is therefore targeting to explore, identify and analyze prominent aspects for the continued development of the Swedish health care and eHealth services. The study also examines what subsequent benefits an implementation of an eHealth service entails, which also has been related to the identified prominent aspects. This master thesis is based on a thorough literature review extracted from a theoretical framework including an interoperability-, security-, mobility- and business-modeling perspective, which are used as a foundation for the building of a set of hypotheses, which are subsequently verified with the aid of gathered empirics. The empirics are obtained from 10 semi-structured qualitative interviews, as well as two case studies, which together resulted in key-findings and conclusions. Firstly, in relation to the interoperability perspective, it became clear how there should exist both a technical and social interoperability that communicate with each other. The EHR-systems of today are often considered difficult to learn, non-intuitive and lacking interfaces that are user-friendly designed for the end-user. Increased interoperability was also seen as enabling and simplifying the access to the patient’s medical history, which the EHR-system TakeCare evidently demonstrated. Furthermore, it was acknowledged how there is no correlation between the increased time spent by health care professionals with administrative tasks and documentation with an increased interoperability. It also emerged that patients and the dominant part of the population had either no or very limited knowledge regarding the underlying security and overall management of personal health information in health care. Patients instead often blindly trust the Swedish health care system being secure, and prioritizing other things during medical appointments. The knowledge of security issues in the health care is predicted to increase among patients if they in the future would obtain full access to their own medical records. There is also a general opinion among health care professionals and related instances how new security risks will arise alongside the eHealth wave, with a particular concern for the increasing involvement of mobile devices. Relationships between an increased interoperability also seem to favor increased mobility in health care, but security aspects often prevent the mobility development. Finally, it was unanimously espoused how non-financial values must not be ignored, where the on-going debate argues whether what real impact these non-financial values have, where inter alia strict budgets and large gaps between the decision-makers and end-users appeared as issues. Similar arguments were encountered regarding the actual impact of the opinions of patients in relation to business modeling, where a tripartite-problem and the patients’ limited access to their medical records was partly seen as a primary issue. Secondly, the case studies demonstrated how a transition to the EHR-system TakeCare generally did result in cost- and resource savings in terms of local servers, IT-maintenance and inventory management. The TakeCare implementation also led to an increased visibility among health care centers by enabling and simplifying the access to patient medical history. Increased communication, awareness, and more effective internal processes due to integrated modules and direct connections to ePrescriptions could also be accessed from the TakeCare transition. Finally, it emerged that relations existed between simplified access to the patient’s medical history and how it subsequently resulted in an increased interoperability. A correlation was also seen as the health care become generally more mobile due to increased interoperability. Samband kunde även ses hur ökad interoperabilitet positivt gynnar mobiliteten i sjukvården.

Sustainable Effects of Technological Innovation on Business Models : A Case Study on AR in the Grocery Industry / Hållbara Effekter av Teknisk Innovation på Affärsmodeller : En fallstudie om AR i dagligvarubranschen

Bolos, Raphael, Grujcic, Vlado January 2023 (has links)
In the growing digitalization of the grocery industry, it is necessary for traditional grocery retailers to adapt their business models to the new digital era. Augmented reality (AR) and other digital tools have proven to have the ability to transform the grocery business, and it is crucial for traditional grocers to act in order to remain competitive. AR technology has been used in a number of different retail industries, such as the clothing industry and the furniture industry. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how the implementation of AR can affectthe business model of a traditional grocery retailer. A case study has been conducted with a food company in Sweden, at the request of our commissioner working in the field of digitalization of different industries. Furthermore, the Triple Layered Business Model Canvas, has been used as a tool to identify the current business model, and to give suggestions on how the future business model can look like, after an implementation of AR. The results show a change on the canvas of the three different sustainability factors, but also an identification of the different challenges a grocery retailer can face. The results show an increased collaboration with external partners and the implementation of new activities for the case company. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the impact on distribution and suppliers, as well as the social consequences. Preparation for the technology is further presented in the study.  The study contributes to increased knowledge of business model change in the grocery industry. Previous research on the impact of AR on the grocery industry has been confirmed, and this paper contributes new research investigating the impact of technological innovations on the business model of traditional grocery retailers. This study also adds knowledge on theuse of the Triple Layered Business Model Canvas as an analytical tool for sustainability and business model change.

Upcycling av second hand textil : Att utveckla en ny värdekedja baserat på överblivna material / Upcycling of second hand textile : To develop a new value chain based on leftover materials

Correa Miranda, Maria, Avdija, Inela January 2022 (has links)
Purpose The purpose of the report was to investigate possibilities for producing an upcycling collection in Sweden, where the material is leftover second hand textiles collected by Human Bridge. Method A qualitative research strategy with an inductive research process has been used as a methodological approach. Qualitative research is more flexible and less structured than quantitative research. In addition to literature studies, the report is mainly based on a semi-structured interview with staff from Human bridge. Business Model Canvas and SWOT-analysis were used to analyze the collected data. Results The results show that there is potential for an upcycling collection, but also some risks. For example, we see that there is a lack of knowledge regarding textiles within the organization, but that there is no shortage of upcycling materials. Value In contrast to the majority of research we have been able to find, this report focuses on upcycling as a business model instead of as a design strategy.

The effect of IoT on revenue streams and product features within the mechanical industry : Development of a business model / IoT’s effekt på intäktsströmmar och produktegenskaper inom verkstadsindustrin : Utveckling av en affärsmodell

FRANSSON, JOHN, WÅHLSTRAND, MARTIN January 2018 (has links)
A mechanical industry company’s need for an effective and suitable business model is higher than ever before due to new emerging technologies, especially within digitalization and Industry 4.0. As the Internet of Things (IoT) trend is emerging, companies need to identify new value propositions and adapt their offerings and revenue models in order to meet the customers’ new demands. The current amount of studies that have been conducted in the area of new business models and product offerings with regards to the IoT technology are limited. Therefore, this study has examined and analyzed how a new business model should be designed and what kind of new product offerings a company in the mechanical industry should offer in the area of IoT and servitization. The literature study contains information about Industry 4.0, Internet of Things and Servitization while the theory study addresses theories regarding the business model canvas together with the KANO model. The study has been executed by conducting eleven semi-structured interviews, where nine of the interviewees were employees at our commissioner and the remaining two were customers of our commissioner. The internal interviews were held with executives and managers who represented eight different divisions as well as three different nationalities. The customer interviewees represented two different companies with different sizes and ownership structures. The results of the study indicate that the IoT technology contributes to several new possible product and service offerings, together with new revenue streams, as well as a need for implementing a new servitized business model. Conclusively, offerings such as predictive maintenance, remote assistance, and machine optimization among others, can be offered to the customers with the help of the IoT technology. Furthermore, new payment models such as upfront payments together with a service agreement with monthly payments, are vital parts of a new business model that has to be implemented. In addition, a closer customer relationship is required when moving towards servitization in the area of digitalization and IoT.

Strategic Sustainable Trigger Questions: How Strategic Sustainable Development might be introduced in the Lean Startup through the Business Model Canvas

Van der Molen, Thomas, Bagrianski, Anastasia January 2016 (has links)
We are living in the “Anthropocene” the era in which human activities are responsible for severe damage to the resilience of the ecological and social systems, undermining the Earth’s autopoetic mechanism, integrity and ability to function as a healthy complex adaptive systems. The prevailing societal paradigm for business practices has yet to realise the reality of our current global unsustainable state – and the shift necessary to move us forward collectively. Startup companies have a unique opportunity to gain and leverage competitiveness and attractiveness for funding and customers through sustainability driven business strategies, models and value propositions. This research analyses literature, document and interview data to explore if and how current practices in the Lean Startup contribute to a sustainable society – and how a Strategic Sustainable Development approach might be introduced to enhance the resilience of Lean Startups. Therefore, our key recommendations for Lean Startups that want to introduce an SSD approach are: to raise awareness about the sustainability challenges and opportunities; utilise backcasting towards a vision framed by the Sustainability Principles; focus on fulfilling fundamental basic Human Needs; utilize strategic prioritization questions when pivoting and combine the FSSD ABCD process with the Lean BML cycle. Ultimately, this thesis proposes the use of Strategic Sustainable Trigger Questions to (re)design sustainable business models and value-propositions. We conclude that “asking the right questions - rather than giving answers up front” might spark conversations and innovations in Lean Startups, beneficial for the sustainability of both the individual startup the larger socio-ecological systems.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an evolution from ubiquitous computing, which concept is the pervasive presence around us of a variety of smart objects and things. The IoT inspires innovative business models, which forces organizations across industries to adjust their strategies in order to succeed in digital market environments. Many companies have difficulties to capture the unprecedented complexity and to develop adequate business models to address digital innovation. In this way, this study aims to analyze how a business model to Internet of Things (IoT) products and services can be generated, identifying key components, opportunities and challenges that could be faced in such technological context. A qualitative approach, in an exploratory level, was chosen to be followed as well as a design science method, named as Design Research (DR). The DR was applied to instantiate a business model to an IoT product, having Business Model Canvas as guidance. In order to get empirical data and evidence, this study was conducted in an electronic solutions company, focused on home automation. Several activities were executed along with managers of this company, which included work sessions and semi-structured interviews. The purpose of these activities were understanding the problem to be addressed during the research and the motivation behind this initiative, designing a business model, and validating it and the research method applied afterwards. This research main outcomes suggest that a business model to IoT products and services could be generated from the Business Model Canvas, although there are specific elements that need to be considered, especially those related to technological matters and an integrated product and services offering. Besides that, there have been found eight opportunities and seven challenges concerning business model generation to IoT, which contributes as an enhancement to this topic literature and as reference to managers when conceiving new business models to IoT products and services.

The Flourishing Business Canvas; the new tool for Business Modelling? : A multiple case study in the Fashion Industry

Van den Broeck, Fien January 2017 (has links)
Background:   This research paper studies the potential of the Flourishing Business Canvas developed from the new research field of Business Models for Sustainability. Throughout the literature review arguments for the new concept of Business Models for Sustainability are made. Showing also the need for a tool that can help companies to transform towards a BMfS. The Flourishing Business Canvas is the first tool being developed at the moment and is based on the Business Model Canvas of Osterwalder and Pigneur. In this research data from reports from three different fashion companies is used to complete the Flourishing Business Canvasses and to evaluatethe applicability and usefulness of the canvas. Aim:   The purpose of this study is to investigate the potential of the newly developed Flourishing Business Canvas through case studies of secondary data research in the fashion industry. The research will evaluate the applicability and usefulness of the building blocks of the alpha-version of the Flourishing Business Canvas on the basis of information gathered from annual reports, sustainability reports, home pages and academic research. To contribute to the ongoing research of this tool, the research will try to suggest improvements where needed to make the tool suitable for the sustainable development of the fashion industry. Methodology:   The research is performed trough a qualitative research based on three small casestudies. The canvas is completed for three fashion companies, of three different market segments, based on published reports, media articles and research articles. The gaps in the canvas and the usefulness of the answers will be defined. Results:   The results of the research showed that the three companies follow the four mainarguments for a Business Model for Sustainability, but that what they express in their reports is notcompletely what they do in practise. The Flourishing Business Canvas for the three fashioncompanies was easy to complete as an outsider, this was mostly because they were transparentcompanies that published a lot of information. The questions in the Flourishing Business Canvasalso could show well the efforts on economic, social and environmental sustainability. Conclusion:   The Flourishing Business Canvas is a good tool for the fashion companies to show their economic, social and environmental sustainability in a schematic way and on strategic level. Although in general the canvas expresses that it shows true sustainability, two important elements of a sustainable fashion company; circularity and transparency, were not specifically defined.
