Zeals är en mobil applikation där användaren tillåts att kollaborativt uppleva förväntan och erinran inför och efter en händelse. Genom att användaren bidrar med media som hon själv definerat som relevant för händelsen kan mobiltelefonen fungera som ett medium där kopplingar och relevans är upp till användaren. Parallellt har ett designverktyg för användarjämförelser tagits fram - Persona Activity Framework. PAF syftar till att genom ett scenario visa skillnader och likheter mellan tilltänkta användare. / This master thesis in interaction design deals with two major scopes. First, it will describe how a design concept regarding events is initiated. Second, and parallel, a practical tool for user representations will be formed and used to illustrate a foundation for design. By providing examples of projects related to how anticipation and recollection can be experienced we highlight our work area. In addition to this, we present tools that we consider beneficial regarding user insights. Out of these two fields we describe a process where a mobile phone application is created situated within industrial borders. The result of this process consequently consist of two parts each depending on the other. The application, Zeals, demonstrates both how anticipation and recollection can be experienced. The second part of the end result, PAF, demonstrates how we have represented users and concludes that it can be used in other projects as well. Hence, our final result needs to be interpreted depending on design approach and it’s nature.

Categorizing and managing difficulties in interorganizational requirements engineering / Kategorisering och hantering av svårigheter inom interorganisatoriskt kravarbeteAndrén, Samuel January 2020 (has links)
As globalisation is now a reality for most large organizations, and the competition for most businesses moving faster and becoming tougher, there is a need for engineering projects to deliver results faster in a more complex environment than ever, but also for companies to collaborate to utilize a wider array of competencies and to reach new markets with their products. This case study analyses which difficulties arise in interorganizational requirements engineering, and what organizations can do to alleviate the effects of those difficulties, as well as suggest which actions are most effective to focus on. The conclusion of this study is that the difficulties can be divided into three categories, namely interpersonal, structural and processual. Each category concerns a different set of people and require different actions for increased effectiveness. For the interpersonal category, prioritized efforts should be to establish a shared vocabulary and use techniques to build shared contextual understanding. For structural difficulties, evaluating management and control structures and the implementation of the project’s strategy should be prioritized. In the processual category, codifying existing processes to enable improvements, defining information artefacts and aligning information flows should be of high priority. / Globaliseringens effekter är idag en verklighet för de flesta stora organisationer, och konkurrensen för företag blir hårdare och förändrar sig allt snabbare. Därför blir det allt viktigare för utvecklingsprojekt att anpassa sig till en allt mer komplex miljö och leverera resultat snabbare än tidigare, men också att samarbeta mer med andra företag för att såväl utnyttja bredare kompetens som att nå nya marknader. Den här studien undersöker utmaningarna i interorganisatoriskt kravställningsarbete, vad företag kan göra för att möta de utmaningarna, såväl som att föreslå vilka handlingar som ger mest effekt för ett bättre kravställningsarbete. Slutsatsen av studien är att utmaningarna kan delas in i tre kategorier, nämligen personorienterade, strukturella och processorienterade. Varje kategori rör en viss mängd deltagare i projektet och kräver olika handlingar för ökad effektivitet. För att minska utmaningar i den personorienterade kategorin bör ett projekt prioritera att använda tekniker för att skapa ett gemensamt språkbruk och att använda tekniker för att bygga upp gemensam kontextuell förståelse. För strukturella utmaningar bör det prioriteras att utvärdera styrnings- och kontrollstrukturer, samt hur projektets strategi har implementerats och förankrats bland deltagarna. The Typical and Atypical Development of Fine-grained Sensitivity to the Direction of Eye GazeVida, Mark D. 10 1900 (has links)
<p>Typical adults use gaze cues to make inferences about people's mental and emotional states. I investigated the development of fine-grained sensitivity to the direction of gaze during middle childhood, and how development differs in high-functioning adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In Study 1, sensitivity to deviations of gaze from an object in the environment improved after age 6, becoming adult-like by age 10. This improvement may allow more precise inferences about others' interests and/or intentions. In Study 2, the horizontal range of directions of gaze perceived as direct (the cone of gaze) narrowed considerably after age 6, becoming adult-like by age 8. This narrowing may reduce social costs associated with erroneously perceiving direct gaze. In contrast, the vertical cone of gaze was adult-like at age 6. In Study 3, 6-year-olds' horizontal cone of gaze was narrower when they heard object-directed voice cues (e.g., “I see that.”) than when they heard participant-directed voice cues (e.g., “I see you.”) or no voice, a result suggesting that object-directed voice cues can allow more adult-like judgments of gaze. In Study 4, face inversion increased the width of the cone of gaze in typical adults, but not in those with ASD. However, the cone of gaze was normally modulated by facial expression in the ASD group. This pattern suggests that in adults with ASD, sensitivity to the direction of gaze is not tuned to be finer for upright faces, but that information is nevertheless integrated across expression and gaze. Together, these results suggest that although some aspects of sensitivity to the direction of gaze are adult-like at age 6, immaturities in other aspects of sensitivity will limit children's social judgments until at least age 8. The results also suggest that adults with ASD use atypical visual processing to discriminate the direction of gaze.</p> / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

This thesis investigates the relationship between social media and Cluster B Personality Disorders: Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Antisocial Personality Disorder, and Histrionic Personality Disorder. This research builds upon previous findings by examining specific negative social media motivations and behaviors, such as excessive use and negative motivations, in relation to Cluster B Personality Disorders. Participants completed the McLean Screening Instrument for Borderline Personality Disorder (MSI-BPD; Zanarini et al., 2005), The Short Dark Triad (Jones &Paulhus, 2014), Antisocial Process Screening Device (Frick & Hare, 2002), Self-Test Histrionic Personality Disorder (Olivardia, 2022), and Motivations for Social Media Use Scale (MSMU; Rodgers et al., 2020). These instruments assess callous-unemotional traits, narcissism, impulsivity, attention-seeking behaviors, erratic behaviors, and motivations for social media use. The results indicate a significant positive correlation between extensive social media use and higher tendencies toward Cluster B Personality Disorder traits, with specific social media motivations strongly linked to distinct aspects of these disorders. This study enhances understanding of the psychological correlates of excessive social media use.

Yes / The COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on fractures in health care systems worldwide and continues to have a significant impact, particularly in relation to the health care workforce. Frontline staff have been exposed to unprecedented strain, and delivering care during the pandemic has affected their safety, mental health, and well-being.
This study aimed to explore the experiences of health care workers (HCWs) delivering care in the United Kingdom during the COVID-19 pandemic to understand their well-being needs, experiences, and strategies used to maintain well-being (at individual and organizational levels).
We analyzed 94 telephone interviews with HCWs and 2000 tweets about HCWs' mental health during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The results were grouped under 6 themes: redeployment, clinical work, and sense of duty; well-being support and HCW's coping strategies; negative mental health effects; organizational support; social network and support; and public and government support.
These findings demonstrate the need for open conversations, where staff's well-being needs and the strategies they adopted can be shared and encouraged, rather than implementing top-down psychological interventions alone. At the macro level, the findings also highlighted the impact on HCW's well-being of public and government support as well as the need to ensure protection through personal protective equipment, testing, and vaccines for frontline workers.

Cette thèse porte sur les dynamiques interculturelles et la réactivité des institutions dans les contextes pluralistes. Le contexte clinique, un exemple parmi tant d’autres, sert à saisir les enjeux des rencontres entre personnes d’origines différentes. Le milieu de la réadaptation physique apparaît particulièrement intéressant pour étudier les enjeux induits par les rencontres interculturelles, car les interventions y sont d’une durée relativement longue en comparaison avec les soins aigus, et ce type de pratique demande une grande collaboration de la part des clients. Cette recherche sollicite trois acteurs essentiels dans ce contexte : clients immigrants, intervenants et agents tiers payeurs (CSST) ont pris la parole lors de groupes de rencontre (focus group). La recherche d’un cadre théorique pertinent en anthropologie interculturelle revisite les courants moderniste et postmoderniste, à partir d’une approche critique, et propose une épistémologie interactionniste. Ces courants qui traversent l’anthropologie sont étudiés à la lumière de la clinique, ce qui engendre un dialogue entre les intervenants et les anthropologues. Le contexte ethnographique permet de cerner différents enjeux concernant les politiques de santé dans les contextes pluriethniques, ce qui permet de saisir, à partir de la gestion, des rapports d’emboitement entre le macro et le micro. Le fonctionnement de la réadaptation physique au Québec sert de toile de fond pour comprendre les discours des acteurs sollicités par cette recherche.
L’ethnographie met en lumière les convergences et les divergences entre ces trois acteurs dans les contextes pluriethniques. Selon une méthode caractéristique des relations interculturelles, je présente d’abord l’intervention dans les institutions de réadaptation. Les clients immigrants sont mis en scène avec l’intervention dans les contextes pluriethniques. Les discours de tous ces acteurs mettent en lumière des barrières dites objectives et des facteurs liés à la culture. L’analyse s’intéresse à la communication et à la circulation de l’information dans les contextes pluriethniques; elle étudie les rapports entre l’information, la connaissance et les préjugés. L’analyse offre quelques pistes qui aident à comprendre l’imperméabilité du système de santé dans les contextes pluralistes. La conclusion propose une approche complémentariste pour établir un dialogue entre les modèles de discrimination et l’interculturel. Les anthropologues sont alors interpellés en vue de répondre aux nouveaux défis générés par le néolibéralisme. / This thesis is based on the intercultural and institutional dynamics of health care in pluralistic contexts. The clinical context makes it possible to understand what is at stake in encounters between people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds. The field of physical rehabilitation is a particularly interesting context for understanding these dynamics because interventions require long-term assessment and sustained collaboration on the part of clients. The current research examines three types of actors in this context: immigrant clients, health care specialists (or practitioners), and third party payers (CSST). In order to elaborate an intercultural theoretical framework, the thesis critically examines modernist and postmodernist orientations in anthropology, and through an epistemological approach proposes an interactionist orientation. These differing epistemological orientations are studied from a clinical standpoint and, the resulting analysis prepares the way for a dialogue between practitioners and anthropologists. The ethnographic context sheds light on various themes concerning the politics of healthcare in pluralistic contexts, but also the policies that influence different relationships between macroeconomics and local-level encounters in organizational settings. The system of physical rehabilitation in Quebec serves as a canvas to understand concerns and expectations of the different types actors solicited by this research.
The ethnographic data presented here highlights the convergence and divergence between those who are involved in administering and receiving care. After describing the conditions and terms of intervention in the field of physical rehabilitation, there is a discussion of the specificity of immigrant clients and healthcare in pluriethnic contexts. Data collected from different actors highlights the difference between objective barriers to adequate services and factors which can be linked to culture. Analysis of the data focuses on communication in an intercultural or pluriethnic context and the flow of information, carefully examining the relationship between information, expertise and prejudice. The analysis also offers certain pathways to better understand the lack of reactivity in pluralistic contexts. The conclusion proposes a complementary approach which is intended to facilitate a dialogue between models based on discrimination and those on interculturalism. Anthropologists are presented as being particularly well positioned to answer new challenges generated by intercultural situations in an era of neoliberalism.

Clinical training as double bind: explicit and implicit contexts of learningLloyd, Nina 11 1900 (has links)
This study explores trainee psychotherapists' experiences of double bind situations and inconsistency between explicit and implicit contexts of training. The epistemological foundations of this text are postmodern, social constructionist and ecosystemic. A review of the relevant literature is presented, which includes aspects such as explicit and implicit contexts, double bind and experiences of trainees in training. This is followed by an account of the qualitative research approach adopted, namely, discourse analysis. Themes that are extracted from the text of the transcribed interviews are assumed to reflect discourses in training and the broader societal contexts in which trainees find themselves. These discourses are seen to inform trainees' constructions of their experiences in training. The findings of the analysis are found to concur with the initial hypotheses of this dissertation, as well as with findings in the literature.
