Insights on Creating a Growth Machine Using Attribution Modelling / Insikter kring skapandet av en tillväxtmaskin med attributionsmodellering

Kindbom, Hannes, Reineck, Viktor January 2021 (has links)
Given access to detailed tracking data, the problem of attribution modelling has recently gained attention in both academia and the industry. Being able to determine the influence of each marketing channel in driving conversions can help advertisers to allocate their marketing budgets accordingly and ultimately increase their customer base and achieve a higher Return On Investment (ROI). However, Last-Touch Attribution (LTA), the current industry standard to approach the problem, has been criticized for oversimplification.  In this degree project, two data-driven attribution models are therefore compared to the LTA model on real data from an insurance company, with the objective to optimize for customer base growth and ROI. Raw attributions for each channel are obtained after training the models to predict conversion or non-conversion. By using a linear function to obtain a Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) estimate, the attributions are then adjusted to the ROI of each channel and finally validated through an attribution based budget allocation and historical marketing data replay. The experimental results demonstrate that all models reach approximately 82% accuracy on balanced data, just below the calculated theoretical maximum. While current research consistently argues for more complex data-driven Multi-Touch Attribution (MTA) models, this project provides a nuance to this field of research in showing that the LTA model may, in fact, be suitable in some cases. A new approach to develop specialized models based on correlations between conversion and contextual variables, then shows that attribution models for mobile users specifically yield higher accuracy. The sum of such unnormalized attributions function as indicators for the conversion strength of contextual variables and can further assist decision making.

Stora datamängders revolution : en ny era av digital marknadsföring / The big data revolution : a new era of digital marketing

Rosander, Felix, Stiernstedt, Isabelle January 2023 (has links)
This qualitative study explores the impact of big data and predictive analytics on digital marketing strategies in data-driven businesses. Through in-depth interviews with digital marketers and data analysts in different industries, the study provides an insight into the respondents' personal perception of how these digital tools affect their strategies and business operations in the IT-reliant work system. The use of big data and predictive analytics are considered critical tools to more effectively collect and analyze customer data and behavior. This is because it gives rise to the ability to predict customer trends and adapt the business' marketing strategies in real time. Today, companies' ability to effectively collect and analyze data plays an increasingly crucial role. Not only to develop marketing strategies, but also to achieve significant competitive advantage. The study suggests that businesses that effectively integrate big data and predictive analytics into their strategies gain a better understanding of their customer segments through increased insight and can thus better target and adapt their marketing campaigns to their customer segments. The study also highlights challenges arising from factors such as data quality, optimization, ethics and other aspects that require accuracy and necessary skills. The future of digital marketing is increasingly moving towards data-driven approaches, where there is a greater emphasis on using analytical methods to make decisions. This development demonstrates a shift from the traditional marketing strategies to an application of a data-driven approach. In light of this, it is increasingly important for companies to adopt an approach that enhances their ability to quickly adapt and apply technological tools to exploit this potential. In conclusion, this qualitative study highlights the importance of integrating big data and predictive analytics into business and marketing strategies. This proves to have a great impact on not only improving the organization's marketing but also strengthening the overall business operations. This underlines the need to continuously develop data analytics skills and strategies to understand how they can transform customer relationships and business performance. This perspective is based on interpretations of interviews with marketers in IT-reliant work systems, and should be seen as insights specific to the cases studied rather than broad generalizations.

It seeks to scrutinize recent digital marketing techniques and respective consequences towards consumer relations. In order to address the issue, the study firstly draws the profile of consumer society and technological development verified in the last few years, which is necessary to understand the reasoning for alterations in consumers behavior and of the techniques adopted by suppliers to place its products and services in the market. Through the analysis of consumer market, the study then scrutinizes Brazilian Consumer Protection Code, a statutory Law full of principles, as a public order Law, specially the provisions of article 4 of Law No. 8078/90, that is, those pertaining to Brazilian policy of consumer relations, to the other principles that might be gathered from the Code and, within this context, the principles relating to advertisement, marketing and commercial practices. Another approach refers to marketing development, its main characteristics and brief considerations regarding the relation between advertisement and semiotics, through the study of marketing in the digital age and of current online advertisement techniques. This background allows the analysis of main issues deriving from digital marketing techniques, when they are undertook without observation to Consumer Protection Code, such as: creation of consumer databases, products customization and building up of consumer profiles by means of violating consumers privacy as a result of the nonstopping seek of sensitive information, besides unfair competition. The results of the research indicate that such practices should be deemed as deceptive commercial practices by virtue of the increasing unreasonable advantages demanded by suppliers of digital age, and presents suggestions and legislative bills that aim to avoid aggravation of consumers vulnerability and protect its privacy / O presente estudo traz como objeto de investigação o marketing digital e a proteção do consumidor e pretende abordar e analisar as recentes técnicas de marketing digital e as consequências para as relações de consumo.
