[pt] ENCONTROS NAS ENCRUZILHADAS: OS CORPOS POLÍTICOS DO REFÚGIO, A POLÍTICA DO ENCONTRO E O DESVENDAR DE OUTROS MUNDOS / [en] ENCOUNTERS AT THE CROSSROADS: THE POLITICAL BODIES OF REFUGEES, THE POLITICS OF ENCOUNTER AND THE UNVEILING OF OTHER WORLDS

LARISSA SANTOS DE SOUZA 13 December 2022 (has links)
[en] In an unquestionable state of vulnerability, the refugee condition is pervaded by a range of power and violence relations, which turns their survival into an increasingly tortuous journey. One can hardly fail to mention their precarious state that makes them subjects of humanitarianism that, through a discourse of care typical of humanitarian governance, transforms these refugee individuals into a large body full of open wounds ready to be sutured. When faced with a complex border apparatus of securitization, they are treated as a threat to the order and maintenance of the structures and way of life of a society that is apparently incapable of responding immediately with hospitality. Once settled in urban centers, the experiences of these populations are also permeated by the power relations that are present in their daily lives, in their condition as refugees and as precarious life, being reduced to their struggle and their pain, turned into pure and depoliticized victims. At first sight, anonymous, abandoned, securitized, managed bodies, whose forces were diminished by the journey and the discourse about their lives. Inspired by the analytical propositions of the Autonomy of Migration, this dissertation is interested in looking at migration and, consequently, at refuge as political itself; affected by the film Era o Hotel Cambridge (2016), by Eliane Caffé, it focusses on urban daily life as a space-time from which we must also think about this autonomous politics of migration. In this work, I seek to reflect on the resistance and politicization of life in condition of urban refuge, outside the axis of citizenship, shifting the possibilities of their political experiences to a place of indiscernibility from the power relations that seek to predicate them to a set of expected subjectivizations. The impetus that moves this work is the desire to be able to look at other places, other relations, other affections, other worlds, other than those outlined by the signifiers of modern politics closely related to the essentialized figure of the citizen, demarcator of belonging and exclusion, qualifying asset of life. This work is an invitation to seek to trace new routes, to unveil other paths in the difference that is made common, recapturing the urban refugee condition (and their bodies marked by precarity and the precariousness of life) as political in the encounters at the crossroads of everyday urban life.

Våldsutsatta kvinnors upplevelse av vårdpersonalens bemötande : En litteraturöversikt

Jakobsson, Sofia, Thörn, Elin January 2023 (has links)
Introduction: Women exposed to intimate partner violence exist everywhere. The violence causes suffering for the woman and has negative consequences for society in different ways. These women can be found in all the different healthcare settings, and early detection of ongoing or previous exposure to violence can be life-changing. It is common for women who have been exposed to intimate partner violence to feel insecure to tell about the situation and meetings with healthcare personnel can mean a lot for how the woman moves forward. Aim: To describe how women who have been exposed to intimate partner violence experienced encounters with healthcare personnel.  Method: A descriptive literature review based on ten original articles with a qualitative approach.   Result: The women's experiences of the healthcare personnel treatment from the articles are described in three main categories. These categories are: experiences of lack of time on the part of healthcare personnel and not being prioritized, experiences of stigmatization of the abused woman and the last category is experiences of shortcomings in the treatment from the healthcare personnel.  Conclusion: The women experienced negative treatment by the healthcare personnel when they were not taken seriously or felt deprioritized, judged or blamed for the violence. The treatment that the women appreciated was when they were seen, heard and when the healthcare staff were empathetic towards them.

Distriktssköterskans upplevelser av mötet med äldre kvinnor med urininkontinens inom primärvården : En intervjustudie / The district nurse's experiences of the encounter with elderly women with urinary incontinence in primary care : An interview study

Karlberg, Malin, Johansson, Stina January 2023 (has links)
Background: Urinary incontinence is a common issue among women worldwide. Older women are most commonly affected, and the causes are varied. Previous research shows that living with urinary incontinence has a negative impact on quality of life as well as being associated with feelings of shame. District nurses working in primary health care are tasked with providing care to older women with urinary incontinence.  Aim: The aim of the study was to shed light upon the experiences of district nurses when encountering older women with urinary incontinence within primary health care. Method: A qualitative interview study was conducted, with eight district nurses serving as informants. The interviews were analyzed using a qualitative content analysis following the method of Graneheim and Lundman.  Results: Three main themes were identified: The encounter with the older woman, the district nurse's challenges during the encounter and the structure of the organization. In the encounter with the older woman, the subcategories feeling adequate and being able to provide support are described. In the district nurse's challenges during the encounter, the perception of urinary incontinence, the difficulty of approaching the subject as well as a feeling of inadequacy are described. The structure of the organization adress the lack of access to continence nurses, urinary incontinence not being prioritized as an issue within primary health care and a desire to gain more knowledge in the field. Conclusion: District nurses feel that providing support to older women with urinary incontinence is essential. According to the district nurses, they lack knowledge on the subject. Working with urinary incontinence can be challenging, but also provides opportunities to assist and provide support to the women affected by it.

Booming or Baffled : Investigating Baby Boomers’ Attitudes Toward Self-Service Technology and Personal Service Encounters in the Hotel Industry

Parvazi Nia, Joan, Regnér, Daniel January 2023 (has links)
The hospitality industry is increasingly incorporating self-service technology, suchas online booking systems, automated check-in and check-out, and in-roomtechnology, to enhance the customer experience and streamline operations. However, there is limited research on the adoption and usage of self-service technology bybaby boomers (BB) in this industry. This study aims to fill this gap by exploring theadoption and usage patterns of self-service technology (SST) among BBs in thehospitality industry. The paper follows a deductive approach drawing upon the extensive literature on thetopic. With a proposed qualitative viewpoint, the purpose of the study is to identifythe BBs’ attitude when using SSTs in hotels, and furthermore, to understand in whatinstances consumers prefer human interactions over technological encounters. Theempirical data was obtained through interviews that were conducted among 10Swedish BBs. The findings then were analyzed through thematic analysis, towithdraw patterns, similarities and differences. The conclusion of this thesis shows BBs have different preferences when it comes toadopting SSTs. The attitudes ranged from enthusiasm, to avoidance and hesitation. However, the common theme that emerged among all three types of attitudes, wasthe fact that they all prefer to use SSTs as a complementary step to what the hotelstaff will provide. It was also proposed in order to encourage the SST hesitant orSST avoidant group, the service design should be straightforward and theinstructions must be clear.

Äldre patienters upplevelser av det vårdande mötet med sjuksköterskan vid vård i hemmet : En litteraturstudie / Older patients' experiences of the caring encounter with the nurse during home healthcare : A literature review

Lundgren, Lina, Weilgoni, Frida January 2023 (has links)
Sweden's aging population is increasing, and the need for care is growing. Home care is becoming increasingly common as older patients often stay in their homes despite the presence of illness which is not always a voluntary choice. Home is a meaningful place where older patients can experience security and health when integrity and self-determination are taken into account. The nurse has an important role in providing good care and having an adaptable approach where the patient feels seen and heard so that the encounter is experienced as caring. The aim of this literature review was to illuminate older patients' experiences of the caring encounter with the nurse during home care. The method chosen for this study is a literature review where 12 qualitative articles were carefully selected, analyzed, and shaped into a final result. The results show that the home and its belongings are significant, and that maintaining independence and being involved in one's care can lead to increased autonomy. Feeling powerless can lead to feelings of frustration and vulnerability, while a respectful approach from the nurse and good continuity can create a secure relationship. The method in the study is discussed based on the four concepts: credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability. The main findings discussed based on the results are the significance of home, being a patient in one's own home, involvement and vulnerability, the nurse's approach, a good relationship, and the caring encounter.

Grainger Staflin, Freja, Fornemyr, Daniella January 2024 (has links)
Background: In nurses ‘nursing care and responsibilities it includes of giving support to relatives in their individual bereavement processes in event of deaths. According to the available nurses’ guidelines for nursing they are intended to lead nursing care work in relation with relatives. However, relatives describe in previous research that they can experience a lack of encounter and care from nurses. In accordance with relatives, this may depend on a high workload that can prevent the possibilities of a proper farewell of deceased family members. Aim: To create an overview of nurses ‘experiences when dealing with relatives in connection with deaths. Method: A general literature review was applied based on eleven selected articles. Eight articles were qualitative, two were quantitative and one article containing a mixed method. Results: The three themes that were identified answered the chosen aim. They were: Nurses emotional impact during encounters, Nurses prerequisites of encounters with relatives and Communication during encounters. Nurses experienced a lack of education and practical manners aggravated the encounter with relatives. Relatives’ feelings and experiences affected the feelings nurses experienced. Furthermore, nurses experienced that communication was inadequate but crucial for their’ encounter with the relatives. Trust, good relations, and respect were beneficial regarding both parties. Conclusion: Nurses ‘encounters was inadequate to relatives. It appears that a lack of time, insufficient knowledge, and lack of prerequisites may be the reason behind this. A promoting encounter can be established by seeing relatives as unified units and offering time to individual needs they have.

Sjökvist, Kajsa, Johansson, Elin January 2024 (has links)
Metod: I arbetet används allmän litteraturöversikt. / Background: The encounter is part of the nurse's responsibility. The nurse's encounter affects the patient's and relatives' view of healthcare. In the case of unexpected deaths, the situation often becomes complex. Relatives describe that they often feel forgotten in healthcare and that the nurses' encounter can lead to unnecessary suffering. The candidate thesis is based on Eriksson's nursing science theory as well as the competency description for registered nurses and ICN's code of ethics. Aim: Is to describe nurses’ experiences in dealing with relatives in unexpected deaths.Method: The work uses a general literature review. Eleven articles have been reviewed, of which nine were qualitative, one quantitative and one mixed method. Results: The analysis of the results of the articles led to four different themes: Obstacles in the encounter, emotional impact, the importance of good communication and creating trusting relationships. Conclusions: The encounter of relatives in the event of unexpected deaths leads to internal stress for the nurse. Creating trusting relationships is important for relatives to feel safe. The lack of resources and knowledge leads to poorer encounter, which then affects the relatives' grieving process.

Slunga, Ebba, Omnell, Lina January 2022 (has links)
Background: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a widespread societal problem independent of religion, culture and socioeconomic status. Women are more commonly exposed to IPV which affects their physical, psychological and reproductive health. Nurses play an important role in the encounter of women exposed to IPV. Nurses’ experience various obstacles during these encounters, therefore it is important to explore nurses’ experiences.  Aim: To describe nurses’ experiences of encountering women who have been exposed to intimate partner violence.  Methods: The literature review was based on nine qualitative studies. Database searches were made in PubMed and Cinahl. The analysis was inspired by qualitative content analysis described by Graneheim and Lundman, as well as Danielsson.  Results: The analysis resulted in four categories: “to feel conflicting emotions”, “to balance different roles”, “to be uncertain about approaches” and “to lack organisational support”.  Conclusion: For nurses the encounter with women exposed to IPV may lead to conflicting emotions and difficulties with balancing their professional and private roles. Nurses need organisational and professional support in their work with women exposed to IPV. Nurses experience insufficient education and therefore further research is required to improve educational programs and the provided care.
