Norlin, Björn January 2010 (has links)
The present dissertation investigates pupil fraternities in the Swedish state grammar school system from 1850 to 1914, in an effort to contribute to the understanding of peer group socialisation as part of the overall pedagogical process. Focus is trained on the practice of liberal education (Sw. bildning ) and the construction of collective identity. Modern pupil associations emerged in the mid-nineteenth century from the ruins of outdated educational traditions. Due to sharpened discipline, institutional changes and external societal pressure, previously existing corporative modes of organisation successively disappeared. To fill the void, pupils began founding fraternities, thereby introducing a new organisational form and a new set of activities based on an ideological foundation more in sync with the ideals of the emerging industrial society. Infused with the liberal, neo-Romantic ideals of the day, the introduction of fraternal life laid out new tools for selfadministered socialisation. After analysing the growth of pupil associations in the mid- nineteenth century, the thesis concentrates on fraternal practice at one particular institution, Umeå State Grammar School. This case study shows that fraternal activity revolved around creating lending libraries and reading circles, assemblies, school magazines and aesthetic pursuits including musicmaking, singing, acting and dancing. The thesis suggests that the fraternity had a structuring impact on the student body as a whole, serving to homogenise the school experience and provide a viable alternative to the allurements of town life. Subjects favoured by the fraternity included philosophy and ethics, literature and history and, to a lesser extent, current events. A slight shift in interest toward the natural sciences can be detected at the end of the period under investigation. Furthermore, it is revealed that peer socialisation encouraged identification with the school. It transmitted a set of values stressing idealism and anti-materialism, patriotism and regionalism, intellectualism (as opposed to athleticism), religious and/or secular piety, historism, cultural and political traditionalism, an acknowledgement of the powers – and limitations – of youth and an idealisation of friendship and camraderie. Insofar as social mores and relationships between the sexes was concerned, peer socialisation also provided pupils with practical instruction on proper conduct, and laid the foundation for an ambiguous understanding of the opposite sex. It promoted an ideal of masculinity closely associated with what may be characterised as the civil servant ideal. The thesis finally reveals that strong links were forged between fraternities on a regional, nationwide and Nordic level, bearing strong resemblance to contemporary social youth movements regarding attitudes toward society, culture and knowledge. Upper secondary school fraternities considered themselves guardians of the nation and its culture and became a conformist force in late nineteenth-century Sweden. On the other hand, pupils also constituted an active force in the modernisation of Swedish institutional practice, in the vitalisation of the state grammar schools, and as forerunners in the conceptualisation of a new cult of youth.

Barbosa, Alessander Santos 27 April 2018 (has links)
This research tackles the problem of irregular occupations taken up and consolidated in urban areas of permanent environment preservation, as historical reflection of the disorderly urban growth and of the failure of constitutional public housing and sustainable city policies. The factual context of occupations fuels complex collective judicial litigation, in which it is intended to accommodate the tension, evidently existing, between the fundamental rights to decent housing and the ecologically balanced environment, also doubly violated. Thus, based on the observation that we are experiencing a structural socio-environmental problem, which has not encountered an effective response in the hermetic application of the legislation, we intend to use the method of revising the literature, documental research, and the inductive method of case analysis to identify the most appropriate procedural position to the parties at this conjuncture. With theoretical foundation in the neo-proceduralism, fresh fruit of neo-constitutionalism, and in the theory of fraternity as a constitutional juridical category, we defend the hypothesis that the present procedure model demands some conduction based on ample and unrestricted cooperation among all procedural subjects, and that, in the ambience of collective processes of the species, where litigants have a clear common primary public interest, will be the most efficient way to obtain a fair judicial decision, in a reasonable and effective period of time.

[pt] A IGREJA DO ESPÍRITO DE DEUS QUE NASCE NO CORAÇÃO DO POVO: A RELEVÂNCIA E O DESAFIO DO SENSUS FIDEI NA CONSTITUIÇÃO DOGMÁTICA LUMEN GENTIUM DO VATICANO II / [en] THE CHURCH OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS BORN IN THE HEART OF THE PEOPLE: THE RELEVANCE AND CHALLENGE OF THE SENSUS FIDEI IN THE DOGMATIC CONSTITUTION LUMEN GENTIUM OF VATICAN II

09 February 2011 (has links)
[en] This paper talks about two dimensions of Church-reality: divine and human, defined by the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) as People of God. The church is divine because it has its origin in God and human because God swill is manifested in the hearts and minds of the people. We focus our thinking, especially about the relevance and challenge of the sensus fidei in the dogmatic Constitution Lumen Gentium of Vatican II. The divine plan is Yes of God s unconditional love, offered to humanity, and faith of the human being is amen of his spontaneous opening, the inner attitude of surrender to grace. The awareness of faith is the necessary road, the core element of the construction and constitution of union communial and communication relationship of humanity with each other, the cosmos and with God. The reality of non-ordained people and their experience of God in the post-Vatican II became for the new scenarios of the Church. Besides the diverse attitudes towards the reception of the Council, there are also various interpretations of approaches of the post-conciliar Church. Our research aims to analyze the constitutive element (sensus fidei) of the Church, using theological sources, such as: Holy Scripture, Tradition and Church Magisterium.

The territorialization on legal social assistance, a source of inequality related to tehe department of residence

Boudjemaï, Michel 01 July 2019 (has links)
The processing’s inequality of social security benefit’s recipients according to their place of residence. Does the decentralization of skills regarding social security benefit, for three decades now, ends to a processing’s inequality of beneficiairies stressed by a territorialisation’s phenomenon of the law? Nevertheless, France, unitarian State, which organization is decentralized, remains the country of the human rights which republican slogan gives a central place to equality with the words of freedom and brotherhood. If it is true that the normative power of the central State is still the actuality by fixing rules concerning the services of social security, it is not less true that regions with a measure of autonomy also have a power of appreciation for the conditions of social security’s allocation and implementation of these actions. In such case, we could believe that the State by withdrawing gradually from the social assistance’s domain, in which he no longer had residual skills, maybe lost a part of its real powers. The “big guardian” of the equality’s cause, the Constitutional Council, refers to the possibility of creating processing inequalities. Are we developing to another shape of State? Or is it necessary to recognize that to answer to the social needs, we have to admit a differentiated processing by the situations following the example of any system of positive discrimination.

White Males In Black Fraternities: Life Experiences Leading White Males To Join A Historically Black Fraternity

Butts, Christopher C 01 January 2012 (has links)
This study was conducted to explore the phenomenon of White male membership in a historically Black fraternity. The researcher utilized a qualitative research methodology to investigate the pre-collegiate experiences of White males that influenced them to seek membership in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Due to the national pool of potential participants, interviews were conducted with White male members of this fraternity using video chat software. The researcher utilized social identity theory (SIT) as the framework for this study based on the premise that in-groups might prove to be significant. Examining the participants’ pre-collegiate in-groups, diversity of family and family friends, and home environment provided insight into participants’ reasoning for seeking membership. Additionally, exploring the participants’ pre-membership perceptions of their eventual fraternity revealed further detail as to the extent to which individuals became members of the in-group associated with that fraternity. Findings for this study were that participants’ comfort levels with diverse backgrounds and individuals allowed them to feel comfortable seeking membership in a Black fraternity. It was also found that shared traits of service and the opportunity for growth were reasons why White males sought membership in a Black fraternity.
