Vstupní díl UHF přijímače s velmi nízkou spotřebou / Tuner for UHF Receiver with Low Power ConsuptionKaštánek, Martin January 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this work was to make a proposal for input parts of receiver for band 430 to 440 MHz. A model of chosen semiconductor triode BFP540 was created in simulation software. Possibilities how to decrease consumption of this semiconductor triode, keeping the profit, were investigated through the simulation. In compromise consumption, keeping the profit of the amplifier - an optimal operating point for this semiconductor triode UCE = 1,2 V and IC = 2 mA was found. It was tested through the testing wiring with noise microstrips conformity. Ascertained knowledge was used for construction of tuner for UHF receiver. An operating point of input amplifier of UHF receiver was owing to power supply amplifier forced for bigger effectiveness to UCE = 2,65 V and IC = 2,0 mA. Suppression of mirror frequency is provided with Helix filter of the third order, because of intermediate frequency 10,7 MHz. Mixing on intermediate frequency is made again by semiconductor triode BFP540. Selectivity of receiver is provided with intermediate frequency crystal filter 10,7 MHz with bandwidth 15 kHz. Designed input part enables reception of SSB, FM and digital types of modulation.Bandwidth intermediate frequency exit is adapted to this request To receive particular modulation , it is necessary to complete intermediate frequency signal way with appropriate intermediate frequency filter.

Peptides-beta/gamma mixtes : nouveaux édifices foldamères pour mimer l'hélice-alpha / Beta/gamma-Peptide manifolds designed as alpha-helix mimeticsGrison, Claire 23 November 2015 (has links)
This thesis is devoted to the synthesis and the structural characterisation of beta/gamma-peptides, constructed from beta- and gamma-amino acids in alternation, designed to mimic the alpha-helix secondary structure which is present in many native proteins. The alpha-helix can be defined as a 13-helix and a bottom-up foldamer design strategy to target a 13-helical structure was examined, whereby beta/gamma-peptides were proposed in which (1S,2S)-trans-2-aminocyclobutanecarboxylic acid (trans-ACBC) was incorporated as a conformationally-restricted beta-amino acid component. The scalable synthesis of enantiomerically pure trans-ACBC using a [2+2] photocycloaddition strategy was successfully optimized. beta/gamma-Peptides incorporating trans-ACBC and GABA, the latter being the gamma-amino acid component devoid of any constraint, were then synthesised. Experimental and theoretical investigations of their solution-state folding behaviour revealed an unprecedented 9/8-ribbon foldamer structure that adopts curved shapes governed by a combined configuration-conformation code. Additional constraints on the gamma-amino acid component were then considered and beta/gamma-peptides incorporating trans-ACBC and gamma4-amino acids were synthesised. Experimental and theoretical investigations of these beta/gamma-peptides in solution unveiled a preference for 13-helix folding behaviour, which increased commensurately with the peptide chain length; robust 13-helices were stabilised by a minimum of five intramolecular hydrogen bonds. In the last part of this thesis, molecular modelling was used to design helical alpha/beta/gamma-peptides intended to reproduce as closely as possible the hot-spot residues of the known alpha-helical peptide sequence p53(15-31). These peptides were synthesised and their predicted helical folding was verified experimentally along with their resistance to proteolytic enzymes. The alpha/beta/gamma-peptides were tested as inhibitors of the p53/hDM2 interaction. One peptide was found to behave as potent inhibitor and to bind to the native peptide binding pocket of the hDM2 protein, providing a successful proof of concept of the alpha-helix mimetic design strategy.

Assessment of case-based integrated learning as a part of dental curriculum reformNadershahi, Nader A. 01 January 2011 (has links)
There has been a growing call for change in the management of dental education programs, and, in response to this call, the faculty and staff at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry developed the Pacific Dental Helix Curriculum management model. The first major component of this curriculum was the development of the Integrated Clinical Science Strand of the Helix focused on multidisciplinary and case-based andragogies. The mixed method research design was used to identify common aspects of Case-Based Learning and multi-disciplinary teaching through a qualitative analysis of curricular materials and to analyze their impact on selected student outcomes of pre and post-change through statistical analysis. The outcomes chosen for the quantitative portion were surrogate measures of National Board Scores and grade point averages to represent knowledge and skills. The overall analysis of the quantitative data shows negligible impact on the outcomes being measured. We know from the literature that active learning models motivate and engage students at a higher level in their learning and better prepare them to solve problems creatively versus a traditional educational model, so it is significant to see that there were no decreases in performance with a move to a more engaging curriculum. This study offers foundational information for future curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessment.

In the search of the student's role in innovation ecosystemsAlenbring, Cornelia January 2023 (has links)
Abstract Level: Master thesis in Innovation and design , 30 credits Institution: School of Innovation, Design and Technology, Mälardalen University Author: Cornelia Alenbring (98/05/24) Title: In the search of the student's role in innovation ecosystems Supervisors: Anders Vikström, Erik Bjurström MDU examinator:Yvonne Eriksson Keywords: “ecosystems for innovation”, “eco systems for social innovation”, “social innovation ecosystems”, “quadruple helix” “students- innovation ecosystem” “students role in innovation ecosystems” Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the specific role of students in innovation ecosystems. By gaining a deeper understanding of their role, this research aims to contribute to a more nuanced micro-dynamic perspective on the role of students in innovation ecosystems. This thesis explores conceptualizations and metaphors of innovation ecosystems with the aim of exploring different theorizing in the field, related to the role of students within those. Research question: What is the role of students in innovation ecosystems? Method: The study was based on a qualitative method. The empirical data was collected through semi-structured interviews and observations using focus groups with 5 actors within the public, academia, industry and civil society. Conclusion: The role of the student is at the heart of the innovation ecosystem metaphor - that of emergence and co-evolution. Rather, the empirical evidence of this thesis concurs that the roles available to students also depend on other actors taking them seriously, and that the reasons for less than optimal exchange between students and other actors deserves further investigation. It is an interesting observation that students fall between the system perspective’s grand theorizing and pedagogics’ narrower focus on education: - So what is the point of pursuing a research approach where either students or ecosystems are not mentioned? There is an obvious gap in where the abstract level of the system perspective, whilst it can serve as an overview of the concept, does not specify actors and misses to provide a micro perspective on what is occurring between actors, that could explain how it all happens. Are students rather representatives of the civil society, or of what Powell referred to ‘amphibians’, or representative of nothing but themselves as individuals-in-the-making, as a representative of becoming itself and emergence in itself – through their interaction on a campus which they don’t own, but inhabit? And what do companies really want when they want to be a campus? What is special about a campus and life on a campus? What is the very essence of it?

Valenzuela Zubiaur, Macarena del Pilar 30 May 2022 (has links)
Working Together : Exploring Relational Tensions in Swedish AcademiaFridholm, Tobias January 2010 (has links)
This study explores the basic social conditions for high-quality university research, and focuses on research in science and technology in Sweden. Swedish research policy has adopted more of a market perspective on academic research and its role in society. This has meant the promotion of competition between researchers, increased focus on efficiency at universities, and attempts to make academia harmonize more with industry and other actors. How do such policies affect the variety of perspectives within the academic system? How do they affect the positions and identities of individual academics? These issues are discussed through the concept of "relational tensions". Relational tensions refer to social strains arising when interacting actors have different perspectives. Relational tensions can stimulate creativity, but may also cause unproductive conflicts. The discussion is underpinned by interviews with university researchers and a case study of Uppsala BIO-X, a program to commercialize university research in biotechnology. Typical cases of relational tensions are identified. These concern both interpersonal relations and differences between organized science and industry. A notable observation concerns potential frustration of individual academics, as competition and efficiency tends to make their positions and identities more contested. Researchers cope with relational tensions in three identified ways: socialization, seclusion, and lateral authority. Socialization is natural and often necessary, but reduces the variety of perspectives. Seclusion serves to retain variety and independence, but reduces interaction with others. Lateral authority is to formally or informally lend a researcher more authority, which improves the chance of maintaining a variety of perspectives without reducing interaction. The sustained usefulness of academic research arguably depends on its ability to foster and communicate a variety of perspectives. Hence, (i) promoting lateral authority seems fruitful within academia and in relations between academia and industry, and (ii) encouraging competition and efficiency may to some extent be counterproductive. / Research Excellence and Science-Based Industrial Systems
