The Open Access (OA) movement came to be as a reaction against the enclosure of information resources, facilitated by new distribution technologies. The purpose of the OA movement is to make research results freely available. The aim of this master´s thesis is to increase the understanding of how libraries outside of the academic sphere and within research institutes relates to OA. As a theoretical framework I created two different ideologies, the OA ideology and the nonsharing ideology. I also conducted six interviews with librarians. Through an idea and ideology analysis I relate the materials to the two different ideologies. The theories used concern information commons and gifting economies. My study shows that the informants have different views of the OA ideas depending on what aspects that is in question. Especially when it comes to economics and copyright issues the informants express a great degree of criticism against the traditional publishing models. In some other aspects the informants relied on the traditional publishing and thereby on the nonsharing ideology. The idea to make research results freely available was positively viewed upon by many of the informants. They sometimes plan and have ideas connected to the OA ideology. In a few cases they also work with OA materials, but the context that the libraries functions within makes it complicated and sometimes less urgent than it is in the universities to adopt to OA to a larger extent.

Vi möts ständigt av tusentals bilder och budskap när vi rör oss i det offentliga. Då och då rubbas dessa budskap och vi tvingas ta ställning till vad det faktiskt är vi tittar på. Adbusters.se, en svensk rörelse med rötter i USA och Kanada, tar reklam och etablerade symboler och gör om dem. Tanken är att ett ifrågasättande av reklamen blir ett ifrågasättande av reklamens plats i det offentliga rummet. Med hjälp av en socialkonstruktionsteoretisk utgångspunkt, där tanken förenklat är att vi skapar vår värld på samma gång som vi lever i den, och ideologi som metodverktyg tar jag mig an Adbusters.se, adbusting och reklamen. Inledningsvis kommer Adbusters själva att granskas, de manifest rörelsen tar utgångspunkt i parallelläses och jämförs. Detta manifest ställs sedan i konstrats till bilder som kan ses som på ett eller annat sätt falla under rubriken adbust. Här kommer såväl bilder från rörelsen själv som reklambilder att användas. De frågor jag vill ska genomsyra texten är: Hur förhåller sig Adbusters till det offentliga? Hur förhåller sig reklam till Adbusters? Hur förhåller sig Adbusters till en reklam som tar tillvara Adbusters verktyg? Är Adbusters ett effektivt medel mot reklamen i det offentliga rummet? Adbusting framträder vid en närmare granskning ha några olika aspekter. Dels är det de aktioner som ligger rörelsen närmast. Aktioner där reklamaffischer tas ner eller byts ut mot andra budskap. Vidare finns det aktioner som rör sig från rörelsens grundläggande ideal och mer tar formen av reklam. Det ska sägas också att reklam i den här bemärkelsen inte nödvändigtvis handlar om att sälja en produkt, utan det kan handla om reklam för vissa idéer såsom miljömedvetenhet, anti-sexism etc. Den tredje och sista aspekten av adbust i det offentliga är när företag använder sig av adbusting för att utveckla sin egen reklam.

Det nya viruset COVID-19 har haft dramatiska effekter inte bara på folkhälsan men också på statsfinanser över hela världen. Med hänsyn till att länder inom EU har reagerat så olika, och att unionen inom samhällsvetenskapen oftast beskrivs som liberal, är det därför intressant att studera vilket teoretiskt förhållningssätt som anses vara mest synligt även i motgångar. Detta är särskilt viktigt mot den bakgrund att EU-samarbetet det senaste decenniet fått utstå flera motgångar med exempelvis en växande högerpopulism, flyktingkris och brexit. Syftet med föreliggande undersökning är att redogöra för hur den intellektuella debatten ser ut angående huruvida länders respons till COVID-19 pandemin inom EU har antagit ett liberalt eller realistiskt förhållningssätt. Metoden utgår från en kvalitativ textanalys med en idé- och ideologianalytisk metodansats samt idealtyper som analysverktyg. Genom ett urval av två forum som har för avsikt att främja akademiska åsikter om aktuella internationella förhållanden har samtliga artiklar i dessa forum som har erbjudit en intellektuell ”snabbanalys”, med fokus på hur säkerhets- och samarbetsfrågor hanterats inom EU, analyserats. Resultaten visar att ett realistiskt perspektiv till både säkerhet och samarbete har varit mest rådande i den initiala responsen när det gäller hanteringen av COVID-19 enligt skribenterna, även om det i viss utsträckning funnits några tendenser till samarbete. Vidare visar resultaten att skribenterna, trots sina mer realistiska beskrivningar av verkligheten, har en normativ ambition i vilka de flesta är överens om det liberala projektet inom EU bör fördjupas.

This study is a qualitative analysis of ideas and ideological content, which main focus is the Indian legislation on rape offenses which was adapted after a brutal rape case in Dehli 2012. The purpose of the study is to analyze how Indian news sites portray the motives behind the new death penalty legislation. The analysis intention is to see if there´s a possibility that the arguments can be categorized within a theoretical framework such as utilitarianism, retributivism or feminism. The material used in the analysis is recently published, high-profile news articles from Indian media. The result signifies that the Indian government's argument for the death penalty legislation is justified primarily through justice and revenge for the victim, as well as the purpose of deterrence, which can be compared to the retributive setting. The majority of the arguments were also problematized from a feministic perspective, with the explanation that execution isn´t the solution to the country's patriarchal structure and gender-based violence and oppression. One factor that has an impact on the study is the limited freedom of the press in India where authorities have censored certain material on the internet, which affects the reliability of the study material. In conclusion the analyzed material uses the same sorts of argument that reflects upon feminist rationales, but this result also indicates that the unified result may have an explanation for the limited press freedom, the country's corruption and the censorship of the authorities.

This thesis takes a deeper insight to examine why EU is blocking the waiver for intellectual property and how it can be understood as structural violence by taking a neoliberal framework. The empirical material consists of different materials from the EU commission and EU parliament and is analyzed through an ideology analysis with predetermined categorizations to be able to identify ideas of neoliberalism in the empirical material. The result of this theses shows that there is a neoliberal ideology within EU, and it has influenced the policies it has adopted. The neoliberal ideas have prioritized the pharmaceutical companies by removing market barriers and protecting intellectual property rights on account of an even distribution between countries. The three most concrete solutions to achieve even distribution of the vaccine were COVAX, compulsory license and voluntary license. These, on the other hand, have not been successful in increasing the distribution of vaccine to low-income countries, which has led to people dying. This thesis understands this problem as an effect of structural violence, because these deaths may have been preventable as they occurred only because of uneven vaccine distribution between countries.

Centerpartiet, som är ett av Sveriges riksdagspartier, har länge profilerat sig som liberala och samarbetat i politikens borgerliga allians. Från 2010 har det politiska läget i Sverige genomgått stora politiska förändringar vilket gjort att Centerpartiet idag verkar i den ’breda mitten’ och profilerar sig med en ‘mittenidentitet’. Huruvida denna turbulenta tid påverkat partiets ideologiska förändringar har därför undersökts i denna studie. Syftet som ligger till grund för studien är att studera ideologisk förändring för Centerpartiet under en politiskt turbulent tid. Den teoretiska ansatsen utgår från Marie Demkers teori om ideologisk förändring samt tre idealtyper av ideologierna konservatism, socialliberalism samt nyliberalism. Den valda metoden är kvalitativ ideologianalys, med detta menas att utvalda valmanifest kommer att läsas och innehållet kommer att tolkas och kategoriseras utifrån ett analysverktyg. I det aktuella fallet är analysverktyget en tabell som utgår från de ovan nämnda idealtyper kombinerat med definitionen av begreppen frihet, människosyn, ekonomiskt system, individ/samhälle och offentligt/privat. Valmanifesten läses i sin helhet och innehållet kategoriseras in i tabellen för att kartlägga ideologin. Genom att analysera resultatet kan en slutsats om eventuell ideologisk förändring dras. I studiens fall visade resultatet att Centerpartiet inte har genomgått någon ideologisk förändring, partiet har bedrivit en socialliberal politik från 2010 till 2022.

The purpose of the study is to shed light on the potential conceptual transformation within the discourse on psychedelia in Sweden, and how that transformation affects the ideas surrounding the substances and its ideological discourse. These changes could hypothetically build a new cultural construction of the view on psychedelia in Sweden. The study is of hermeneutic qualitative nature. I use idea and ideology analysis with elements of conceptual history. Further the study uses the constructions of thoughts: judgments of reality, judgments of value and precepts of action to evaluate and to illustrate the perspectives in the field. The study examines a culturally conditioned problem in the form of depression of which the potential solution in itself is a cultural taboo both spread and created by an ideological hegemonic idea, but this hegemonic idea is now potentially challenged by new medical research findings.

This system is based on the principle that all people are equals and that healthcare should be provided on the basis of need. I apply critical ideology analysis to investigate how our view of equality might change because of the evolvement of society. A critical view may be explained as an interest in exploring things that seem obvious to many. Important questions to answer are why equality is regarded as such a natural concept in the society and how healthcare is actually provided. I analyze government documents, such as debates and inquiries about privatization and identify a complexity regarding the conception of equality and its relation to ideas of freedom and justice.</p>

The Swedish Moderate party, often also called the Conservative party, was founded with conservatism as the dominant ideology. During the years, however, liberalism has gradually found its way into the party. The aim of this study is to analyze the Moderate party’s political platforms from 1984 to 2013 from an ideological perspective. Is conservatism still a foundational ideology in the Moderate party, or has the liberal ideology taken its place? The study is based on an ideal type analysis that illustrates the Moderate party’s argumentation in six political issues in the years 1984, 1993 and 2013. The political issues that have been analyzed are issues where the two ideologies traditionally take very different stands. The result of the study shows that the Moderate party in 1984, according to the six studied political issues, argued from a predominantly conservative perspective. In 1993 the ideological status of the party had changed and more of a mixture between liberalism and conservatism existed. The analysis of the political platform from 2013 shows that the Moderate party has adapted a liberal view in several of the political issues that has been studied. Even though they still use conservative argumentation in two of the six issues, an obvious journey towards liberalism has taken place.
