Os Estudos Culturais da Ciência também serão utilizados na analise / Abstract: From the second half of the twentieth century science gained more space in all media. Television, radio, newspapers, magazines and, more recently, the Internet, began to notice, sometimes with elation, sometimes with suspicion, the discoveries of science. This study examines the development of scientific research in the Metropolitan Region of Campinas (RMC) from the implementation of the series "Cenário XXI, Conhecimento, Tecnologia e Inovação", in the newspaper Correio Popular, Campinas. This series consists of a journalistic series of special supplements created in 2003 and weekly pages on Science, featuring a revival, in a systematic way, of an editorial dedicated to science communication. One goal of research is to examine the historical context that allows the project design and to verify / identify which actors participated and led to the inclusion or disclosure of the Correio Popular science communication in the manner in which it was performed in the period between 2003 and 2004. To carry out this research will use case study concepts and content analysis with a predominantly qualitative approach, although recourse to quantitative data in a complementary way. Cultural Studies of Science will also be used in the analysis / Mestrado / Divulgação Científica e Cultural / Mestre em Divulgação Científica e Cultural

Personal journals were constituted as standard modes of “writing about the self” concerning women. Since women acquired the right to be alphabetised, many of them utilised writing as a tool to place themselves in the world and to build their selfimage. In this dissertation, we will conduct a historical investigation about spaces of leisure and sociability through the personal journals of Clarice Tavares Xavier. By accessing the personal archives of Clarice Tavares Xavier, we were able to utilise, as our main source, her journals, dated from 1954 to 1956. Clarice Tavares Xavier was a young woman who stemmed from a tradition southern family and, through her look onto the world, described her daily life and the different impressions that she had concerning places she circulated in Pelotas. Together with photographs and oral testimonies, we tried to understand how young elite women circulated in social spaces which Clarice described in her narratives. Our research sought to analise the leisure and sociabilities within private spaces, educational institutions, recreational associations and public urban spaces under the perspective of a female look. We conclude, then, that the self-image created in the personal journals of Clarice Tavares Xavier can be understood (and compared to) in relation to the social context and leisure spaces that were occupied and enjoyed by the elite of Pelotas. The social condition and the structural rules of behaviour that were reserved to wealthy women caused, therefore, a considerable impact on a mode of writing that pretended itself private and particular. We believe that the personal image inscribed in journals is a satisfactory historiographical path through which we can understand, in this case, not only leisure spaces of the elite, but also how a dialectical relation is formed between personal expression and external structures – structures common to a specific gender and a specific class.

Douglas Vinícius Galan 26 September 2013 (has links)
This dissertation is a theoretical study on the relationship between the languages of the press and the digital medium. The hypothesis that the daily suffers modeling from cultural texts coming from the Internet drives the entire script investigations. The sense of modelizations structures, as well as other concepts that are anchored in research comes from semiotics theory of culture or russian semiotics, born in the School of Tartu, Estonia. With this contribution we hope to understand how culture remakes languages and recode the system of press operating semioses and creating new texts in this area. The research adopts the main conceptual terms set forged in the reflections of the group of russian intellectuals, but extends their analyzes from other postulates and contributions, such as dialogism, discourse and concepts pertaining to the field of journalism and new media. Drawing on quantitative resources from a sample of six brazilian newspapers of national expression this study investigates the possibilities of modeling, especially in the exercise of the role of the hyperlink as a sign. With this determination of the digital language int the press, the study examines the expansion of the field of signification that the Internet brings about cultural systems of our time, establishing themselves as part of a mind of culture working from a diagram thought. Such views do not contain the analysis of the results obtained, but expands the vision for new problems.

A imprensa negra paulista entre 1915 e 1937: características, mudanças e permanências / The black press of São Paulo between 1915 and 1937: features, changes and continuities

Gilmar Luiz de Carvalho 30 November 2009 (has links)
The aim of this master thesis is to show the role of Black Press as instrument of rights claiming and the struggle against social, political e economical exclusion of Brazilian black people in São Paulo in a time of fast urbanization and industrial growth. Considering the origins of that social exclusion, this paper intends to remember the role of Brotherhoods, Associations and former black journals as the initial process for fighting that exclusion. Nevertheless the chosen period for this research is between 1915 and 1937, when, besides the interest in congregating the blacks through education and other means, the Black Press starts claiming the rights that people should have as integrated citizens in São Paulo society and, as a consequence, in Brazilian society. The implementation of Estado Novo in 1937 determines the political parties shut down as well as the associations and journals associated to them, being this event the main reason the Historiography considers that year as the highlight of black journals decadence, so do their claims. However, we will try to demonstrate how the ideological disputes and struggle for power among the leaders, by the acting profile of journals, were crucial for the decadence of journals claiming approach, getting started quite before the Getúlio Vargas coup.

Assessing access and use of PERii electronic journal resources at the University of Dar es Salaam : the case of postgraduate students in the School of Education

Katabalwa, Anajoyce Samuel January 2015 (has links)
This study aimed at assessing access and use of PERii electronic journal resources by postgraduate students in the School of Education at the University of Dar es Salaam. Specific objectives for this study were to examine if the postgraduate students in the School of Eduction are aware of PERii electronic journal resources; to examine if the postgraduate students access PERii electronic journal resources; to examine if the postgraduate students use PERii electronic journal resources; to examine the challenges encountered by postgraduate students in the access and use of PERii electronic journal resources; and to determine possible ways to improve access and use of PERii electronic journal resources. The study was basically a cross-sectional study and data were collected through a combination of questionnaire for postgraduate students and interview for the Reference Librarians. The findings of this study were that the majority of postgraduate are aware of PERii electronic journal resources through various sources including the Library website, notice board, fliers, posters, IL training, colleagues, librarians and supervisors. Again, the majority of them use PERii electronic journal resources for various purposes including working on the assignments, research proposal writing, literature review, research report writing, current awareness, leisure, and for extra exploration of ongoing scientific debates through peer reviewed papers. The challenges encountered include power outage, inadequate bandwidth, slow download speed, inability to access the resources from home, lack of training, lack of awareness, limited access to computers and difficult in making a search. Suggested ways to improve access and use of PERii electronic journal resources include seeking to provide training on how to access and use of PERii electronic journal resources; ensure stable and reliable power, ensure adequate bandwidth; increase awareness of the resources, improve ICT infrastructure, enable access of the resources from home; increase download speed and ensure relevant information is provided. Based on these findings it was recommended that training on access and use of PERii electronic journal resources should be integrated into the University curriculum; ICT infrastructure to support access and use of PERii electronic journal resources should be improved; ensuring stable and reliable power by buying heavy duty generators at the University; increasing awareness by improving methods for promotion and marketing of the resources; enabling access of PERii electronic journal resources from home; ensuring adequate bandwidth through shaping the available bandwidth allowing certain services such as ICT services to receive a large proportion of bandwidth than other services; and ensuring relevant information is provided through subscribing more database with relevant information to all courses at the University. / Mini Dissertation (MIT)--University of Pretoria, 2015. / Information Science / MIT / Unrestricted

Les journaux de Jean Cocteau / The diaries of Jean Cocteau

El Gharbie, Rana 07 March 2012 (has links)
In this thesis, we take on Jean Cocteau’s full body of diaristic work. The poet has eight different diaries to his name spanning from 1928 until his death in 1963 : Opium. We will begin by presenting the author’s diaristic practice and defining his approach to the genre. The aim is to demonstrate this activity’s importance to the poet on the one hand, and reveal the diarist’s originality in this form of writing on the other. Then, we will focus on two essential elements in his conception of the genre: publication and readership. We will firstly attend to the writer’s editorial work in order to understand where he positions the sum of his diaries within the field of literature. Secondly, we will define the typical diary reader and identify the different harnessing strategies the poet resorts to. It is with an eye on the potential reader, who is in direct opposition with Cocteau’s contemporary critic, that the writer aspires to immortalize his unmasked soul.

Reichler, Joakim January 2014 (has links)

Orient et Occident dans les premiers écrits d’André Malraux : une réflexion culturelle dans les années 1920 / Orient and Occident in André Malraux’s fisrt writing : a cultural reflection in the 1920’s

Hata, Ayako 26 March 2009 (has links)
I aim to provide a new analysis of André Malraux’s essay which compares and contrasts the Orient and Occident in the 1920’s. How does he consider the Occident in the face of the cultural other? Wherein lies the originality of his essay? My work strives to uncover this originality by inserting Malraux into a debate regarding cultural duality occurring in three journals: La Revue Universelle, Europe and La Nouvelle Revue Française. During this period, two intellectuals, Henri Massis and René Guénon, reflected upon the extent to which both Catholicism and Eastern thought should play a role in the reconstruction of a post-World War I society. While Malraux was sympathetic to Oriental culture and thought, he remained very Nietzschen and thus refused to turn to Western religion. According his vision, the Occident was responsible for the construction of the notions of the individual and respect for power and action. This image of the Occide! nt comes to light in the mirror of the Orient – especially in the case of China where the individual didn’t exist. Malraux also denounces the cul-de-sac of individualism and the failure of a modern world where reason and progress are valued above all. Malraux provides no remedy for this cultural and social crisis. He sings the absurd with a pathetic tone, a tone that expresses an uncertain ‘self’ of a human unable to escape death. His Occident, based on this nihilistic consciousness, is a tragic vision in which the absurd is an inevitable fate

Journaux et carnets de Didier-Georges Gabily, Jean-Luc Lagarce et Jean-Francois Peyret / Between Poetics and Practice : the Autobiographical Space of Three Authors and Stage Directors. Notebooks and Diaries of Didier-Georges Gabily, Jean-Luc Lagarce and Jean-François Peyret

Valero, Julie 02 December 2009 (has links)
A common feature of Didier-Georges Gabily, Jean-Luc Lagarce and Jean-François Peyret is that they all kept personal diaries between 1977 and 2008. A study of this as of yet unexplored material from the point of view of theatrical studies can help measure the contribution of the diaristic play to theatrical practice. Movements from one to the other are considered in what Philippe Lejeune calls the “autobiographical space”. In this perspective, diaries do not constitute new reading keys for the works, but rather the cornerstones of an identity game that opens an endless dialogue between theatrical fictions, novels and autobiographical texts. The first part of the work attempts to map these distinctive diaries by observing how they account for both the artist’s life and his theatrical life more generally. As for many other artists, the diary embodies the space of a workshop: I will endeavour to observe the elaboration of dramatic writi! ng and speculate as to the extent to which the diary can constitute a memory of the theatrical act, which is essentially ephemeral. The second part is divided into monographic chapters. For each of the three authors, the path from diary to theatre will be viewed from a single perspective: the autobiographical temptation for Jean-Luc Lagarce, the questions of lyricism for Didier-Georges Gabily, and of inter-personal relationship for Jean-François Peyret.
