An alternative to this problem is the Architecture-Driven Modernization (ADM), proposed by the OMG (Object Management Group). ADM is a set of principles that support the modernization of systems using models. The Knowledge Discovery Metamodel (KDM) is the main ADM metamodel and it is able to represent various characteristics of a system, such as source code, configuration files and GUI. Through a reverse engineering process supported by tools is possible to extract knowledge from legacy source code and store it in KDM metamodel instances. Another metamodel that is important to this project is the Structured Metrics Metamodel (SMM) that allows the specification of metrics and also the representation of the measurements results performed on KDM models. When we decide to modernize a legacy system, an alternative that aims to improve concerns modularization of a system is the Aspect-Oriented Programming. Considering this alternative, the main goal of this project is to present an approach to defining and computing concern metrics in instances of KDM metamodel. This kind of measurement needs a prior concern mining that make notes on system components indicating concerns which it implements. To achieve the project objective, a complete approach to measure concerns using ADM models was developed, this approached is composed by an extension of KDM metamodel for representing Aspect- Oriented Software (AO-KDM), a concern metrics library in SMM format (CCML) developed in order to be parameterized by the Modernization Engineer. Therefore, the metrics defined in this project can be reused in other projects. Furthermore, we have developed a tool (CMEE) capable of handling parameterization annotations (notes about concerns made by the mining tools) that allows that models annotated by different mining tools could be measured by SMM metrics.

Synthèse, caractérisation et propriétés magnétiques de nano-aimants moléculaires / Synthesis, characterization and magnetic properties of single molecule magnets

Zakhia, Georges 18 May 2015 (has links)
In the first part of this thesis, we studied the magnetic anisotropy of pentacoordinated mononuclear Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes possessing geometries from square pyramid to trigonal bipyramid. We have shown that, for a given geometry, the metal ion nature has an important influence on the magnetic anisotropy. Then, we studied for a given metal ion the effect of geometry on its magnetic anisotropy. In the case of a trigonal bipyramidal geometry (C3v symmetry), we showed that Co(II) has an Ising type anisotropy (easy axis of magnetization) and thus a blocking of magnetization that leads to an opening of a hysteresis cycle at low temperature. This type of complexes can be used for storing data albeit at low temperature. In the second part of the work, we studied the magnetic properties of binuclear complexes. A binuclear Co(II) complex bridged by two Cl- has a weak ferromagnetic coupling and a blocking of its magnetization. Finally, another aspect of this work was to design binuclear complexes, where two anisotropic ions having each one an easy axis of magnetization, are weakly antiferromagnetically coupled. To do this, we have studied compounds with cryptand ligands where the geometry around the Co (II) is trigonal bipyramid. We found that with a Cl- or Br- bridging ligand, the exchange interaction is much more important than the local anisotropy of Co(II) ions leading to a magnetic behavior where the ions lose their local character. This work opens up prospects for synthesizing the same type of complex but with larger bridges to decrease the intensity of the antiferromagnetic coupling.

Essays on macroeconomic theory as a guide to economic policy

Ried, Stefan 15 October 2009 (has links)
This dissertation consists of an introductory chapter with an extended literature review, three chapters on individual and independent research topics, and an appendix. Chapter 2 uses a two-country model with a central bank maximizing union-wide welfare and two fiscal authorities minimizing comparable, but slightly different country-wide losses. The rivalry between the three authorities is analyzed in seven static games. Comparing a homogeneous with a heterogeneous monetary union, welfare losses relative to the social optimum are found to be significantly larger in a heterogeneous union. The best-performing scenarios are cooperation between all authorities and monetary leadership. The goal of Chapter 3 is to investigate whether or not it is possible to explain the house price to GDP ratio and the house price to stock price ratio as being generally constant, deviating from its respective mean only because of shocks to productivity? Building a two-sector RBC model for residential and non-residential capital, it is shown that an anticipated future shock to productivity growth in the non-residential sector leads to an immediate large increase in house prices relative to GDP. In Chapter 4, it is asked whether a typical New Keynesian Open Economy Model is able to explain "Six Major Puzzles in International Macroeconomics". After translating the six puzzles into moment conditions for the model, I estimate five parameters to fit the moment conditions implied by the data. Given the simplicity of the model, its fit is surprisingly good: among other things, the home bias puzzles can easily be replicated, the exchange rate volatility is formidably increased and the exchange rate correlation pattern is relatively close to realistic values. Trade costs are one important ingredient for this finding.

Enhanching the Human-Team Awareness of a Robot

Wåhlin, Peter January 2012 (has links)
The use of autonomous robots in our society is increasing every day and a robot is no longer seen as a tool but as a team member. The robots are now working side by side with us and provide assistance during dangerous operations where humans otherwise are at risk. This development has in turn increased the need of robots with more human-awareness. Therefore, this master thesis aims at contributing to the enhancement of human-aware robotics. Specifically, we are investigating the possibilities of equipping autonomous robots with the capability of assessing and detecting activities in human teams. This capability could, for instance, be used in the robot's reasoning and planning components to create better plans that ultimately would result in improved human-robot teamwork performance. we propose to improve existing teamwork activity recognizers by adding intangible features, such as stress, motivation and focus, originating from human behavior models. Hidden markov models have earlier been proven very efficient for activity recognition and have therefore been utilized in this work as a method for classification of behaviors. In order for a robot to provide effective assistance to a human team it must not only consider spatio-temporal parameters for team members but also the psychological. To assess psychological parameters this master thesis suggests to use the body signals of team members. Body signals such as heart rate and skin conductance. Combined with the body signals we investigate the possibility of using System Dynamics models to interpret the current psychological states of the human team members, thus enhancing the human-awareness of a robot. / <p>The thesis work was conducted in Stockholm, Kista at the department of Informatics and Aero System at Swedish Defence Research Agency.</p>
