Dyntar, Ladislav January 2012 (has links)
This thesis is devoted to the modern management concept of Corporate Performance Management (CPM, enterprise performance management) and its implementation in selected small company. The first part focuses on the description of the concept of CPM and its individual components (processes, methodologies, metrics and applications). The theoretical part also deals with selected implementation procedures and available CPM maturity models. In the second part a particular small company is introduced to the reader, together with its activities, organizational structure and the reasons behind their interest in CPM. It is then followed by an analysis of the company, its CPM maturity and proposed steps for CPM implementation. These steps are based on the framework presented in this work, which was created by combining different approaches to CPM implementation and available CPM maturity model. The third part, devoted to the implementation of CPM, starts with an analysis of the CPM in the cloud market, followed by a review of two selected solutions. To select the appropriate application, a multi-criterion model is created. The description of actual implementation, and evaluation of its results are included in the last chapter.

Tyrefors, Selina, Daag, Clas January 2022 (has links)

Behovet av formell ekonomistyrning hos mikroföretag i tillväxt : En flerfallsstudie / The need for formal management control of microenterprises in growth : a multi-case study

Hillström, Robin, Larsson, Peter January 2016 (has links)
Background and discussion: Micro- and small enterprises have become increasingly important for the employment and economic growth in Sweden. 22.6 % of the Swedish companies are classified as micro-enterprises, and this size class has difficulties to grow on. The desire to continue to grow in this size class is good, however it decreases as the number of employees within an organization increases. This is because the complexity of managing and controlling the company increases. When a company grows, the need for formal management control increases and to develop it will promote a company’s long-term growth. To not introduce formal management control may cause the company to not achieve its full growth potential and can also cause great damage within a company. Purpose: The overall purpose is to develop a conceptual model that describes and explains the need for formal management control of micro-enterprises in growth, which will be enabled through two smaller purposes. Method: A qualitative approach with a multiple case study was considered appropriate for the study’s research question and purpose. For empirical data collection was semi-structured interviews and documents selected. Conclusion: The need to establish formal management control increases during a company’s growth. In the start-up is it needed for a company to survive, to sell and have the opportunity to develop a product. In case of increased demand is the need for formal management control growing to control the growth and facilitate work towards the established goals. During the development of the company its organization expands, which increases the need to further develop the formal management control.

Women's participation in micro and small enterprises: the case of Addis Ababa

Gebrehiwot, Rahel Woldegebriel 01 1900 (has links)
This study aimed to investigate factors affecting the participation of women-owned MSEs in the manufacturing sector in two selected sub-cities of Addis Ababa, namely, Kolfe Keranio and Nefas Silk Lafto sub-cities and to explore and gain a deeper understanding of the lived experiences and participation of women who own MSEs in the manufacturing sector as well as government entities that support these MSEs. The study adopted a qualitative, exploratory research approach. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted to collect data from women who participated in the manufacturing sector, government officials, MSEs experts in the sub-cities and gender office professionals who worked closely with women’s MSEs in the manufacturing sector. Besides, direct observation was used to get firsthand information concerning the nature of women-owned MSEs and their working environments such as limited working space, lack of warehouses, and physical constraints relating to the use of stairs in storeyed buildings, among others. Document review and secondary data were used to triangulate the results from the interviews and obtain quantifiable data that could be used to clarify certain issues in the study. The data were analyzed using thematic data analysis to identify how the theme related to the research objectives. The researcher used a table to visualize the coded themes to determine which was the major problem, support, and characteristics of women-owned MSEs. The study revealed that women have limited education levels and skills. It is thus difficult for women who own MSEs to exploit advantages or opportunities to expand their business. The findings also reported the inability to access finance for MSEs start-ups and expansion. Women generally lacked information regarding various aspects of MSEs during the establishment of their businesses. Women-owned MSEs have received some support, particularly from government agencies. However, the support they are currently receiving is inadequate to enable them to transform their business. Women-owned MSEs still face problems on many fronts including workspace, limited finance, outdated technology, poor marketing strategies were among others that need addressing. To develop women-owned MSEs and empower other women in the field, the government, the public sector, and formal financial institutes should be informed on the value of gender-balanced contribution in the informal sector enterprises. It is recommended that there should be a greater focus on the social and economic empowerment of women, as they constitute a vulnerable social category that is critical in development endeavors. / Development Studies / M.A. (Development Studies)

Export involvement processes employed by small businesses requiring government support in the City of Tshwane

Ngwenya, Zandile Charmaine 11 1900 (has links)
Small Businesses (SBs) in the city of Tshwane increasingly engage in export activities due to higher growth rates. The South African government recognises the significance of SBs, resulting in support programmes to increase involvement in export markets. However, SBs still face export challenges from internal and external sources. This study explored export involvement processes of SBs in the City of Tshwane. 20 participants took part in a qualitative data collection method using observation and semi-structured interviews. Atlas.ti software was used to analyse the data. Findings suggest that SBs are confronted with varying constraints affecting commitment in export involvement processes. Low levels of awareness and participation in export programmes make it difficult to determine their contribution to the export involvement of SBs. Recommendations are for an evaluation of government export programmes accompanied by export education and training programmes to ensure that SBs achieve desirable outcome of export involvement in various export markets. / This dissertation is devoted to improving the methodological support for selecting the most effective development strategy for a small enterprise. The notion of "development strategy", classification of strategies, including development, was explored, and features of strategies for small enterprises that took into account their advantages were also shown. An analysis was carried out of the development strategies employed at the particular enterprise. Also, within the framework of the work, an algorithm for choosing a strategy for the development of a small industrial enterprise was developed, based on the proposed sequence of steps and tools for implementing each of them, ensuring an agreed choice of corporate, competitive and functional strategies of the enterprise. Also, a methodology was developed for assessing the level of development of an industrial enterprise based on the proposed classification of directions and indicators of enterprise development and ensuring the implementation of one of the stages of the development strategy selection algorithm, which allows not only to objectively assess the level of development achieved, but also to determine the most promising areas for further development. The developed algorithm and methodology were tested using the example of an earlier enterprise.
