A teatralidade na dança do grupo Primeiro Ato / The theatricality on the dance of Primeiro Ato Group.

Sirimarco, Gisela Dória 03 September 2009 (has links)
This study represents a reflection on the theatricality developed by the Primeiro Ato Dance Group. It begins with a short historical retrospective of Brazilian Modern Dance, going through a period from the twenties to the seventies of the past century, a moment when aspects related to contemporary dance emerged in the Brazilian dance scene. In this way, a path was designed, from a macro to a micro point of view, from events occurred throughout Brazil to the State of Minas Gerais, and then to the work created by Primeiro Ato specifically. Then, a kind of Double approach was explored. Firstly from dance to theatre, analyzing some of its most important creators, and secondly from theatre to dance, in order to achieve what was called here the amalgam between these art forms. In the final part of this study, a production named Sem Lugar was chosen as a reference through which theatricality can be recognized as a result of a deep dialogue with dance, a process which generates, in turn, different dramaturgies that intertwine, characterizing a poetic layer which makes the work created by Primeiro Ato truly unique.

_______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Reading the Brazilian contemporary narrative, we might think the ground we are on is more and more slippery. The authors seek to express the troubles in writing throughout texts characterized by less linearity in contrast with tradition and by the mode they ironically play with the narrative elements. A path to understand such production is to discuss, during analysis, the problems related to the aesthetics of representation in literature. Due to such books be so different from the ones published in previous periods, concepts like postmodernity and identity displacements are the keys to explain why such texts are so fragmented, tending to metaliterature. Thus, representation must be reviewed from the Aristotle’s mimesis concept to the current moment which we call the order of the simulacrum, performance or theatrality, important to interpret the creation of literary texts. The association between narrative and theater results hybrid texts which mix the literary genres aiming to question the representation issues. It consists in an ironical way of structuring narrative elements, turning the book into a field in which the changes suffered by literature and the urge to write a novel struggle. We chose Sérgio Sant’Anna’s novels for the corpus not only due to his importance to the current Brazilian literary field, as for his narratives clearly reflect the theatrality in the discussion of the concept of representation. Influenced by the theatrical methods, the author turns his books space into a place where it is possible to ironically discuss the literary creation and the social issues, for the act of representing aims to elaborate a view over the society. Within Sant’Anna’s vast production three narratives were drawn for the analysis: Simulacros (1975). Um romance de geração (1981) and A tragédia brasileira (1987). We decided for the referred books not only due to the continuous development in the process of theatralization they represent, but because they compound a cycle in Sant’Anna’s writing in a meaningful and disturbed period of Brazilian recent history to understand the position of the artists and the art itself: the military dictatorship (1964- 1985). From an initial step in the theatrical, timidly playing with it, Simulacros turns its characters into social types masks. The concept of simulacrum explains how the narrative ambience transforms the streets into stages in which the “everyday actors” play its roles. It consists on a laboratory-novel, a first step of the theatrical which will be developed in Um romance de geração and its non-playable one and only act (a dramatic comedy). The novel, still playing with stereotypes, presents a discussion about the position of the intellectual, as well as the range of the influence of the Brazilian political theater. On its turn, A tragédia brasileira does not invest on a simple relation between the dramatic and the narrative, but it shows what Sant’Anna calls a theater-novel, analyzed by the author-director. The influence of the Brazilian theater is present on an evident relation with the ambience of Nelson Rodrigues’ tragedies.

Ensaios de uma dramaturgia limiar / Essays of a threshold dramaturgy

Rosa, Rafael Vogt Maia 15 June 2012 (has links)
Taking a body of essays, this dissertation examines a certain realist and a contemporary dramaturgy produced by authors such as Henry Ibsen, Harold Pinter and David Mercer, and discusses its relations with the audiovisual adaptation context. Among its subjects is the debate about theatricality which occurred in the U.S. in the late 1960s, understood as artistic expressions between traditional and contemporary artistic languages, as well as an approach between the universe of art and everyday experience. Recent productions in painting, popular music and documentary are also discussed alongside the essays. The question related to essayism itself is also addressed through an audiovisual essay, submitted in its written version and in the filmed one, both especially produced for this work.

Andrea Tonacci: do teatro das verdades às cenas de ficção em Interprete Mais, Pague Mais e Serras da Desordem / Andrea Tonacci: from the Theatre of Truths to the Scenes of Fiction.

Canton, Luciana Giannini 29 October 2014 (has links)
This work analizes and compares the creative process of two films by Andrea Tonacci: Play More, Pay More (1974-1995) and Hills of Disorder (2006), focusing on the relationship between the filmmaker and the actors, by exploring the notions of staging, theatricality and performativity. On the first film, while showing the crisis faced by a theater group, Tonacci exposes the teatricality inherent to the reality portrayed, resulting in a presentification that only exists through his cinematic device. On the second film, by enacting the story of a native Brazilian, played by the native himself, he finds on the reconstruction of the life of the other a narrative that is essencially autobiographic. A comparison of the two procedures aims at the confrontation and possible approach of these two forms of mise en scène/mise en présence on the very act of filming, through an understanding of the diferent forms of staging/presenting the real on documentary and fiction films.

Música-como-teatro : uma prática composicional e sua autoanálise / Music-as-theater: a compositional practice and its self-analysis

Oliveira, Heitor Martins January 2018 (has links)
I saw them together ‒ I heard them together (2017) / The expression composing music-as-theater synthesizes and groups my contributions in the field of relations between musical composition and theatricality, organized into three axes of practice and self-analysis: 1- the situation of musical performance as scenic space; 2- the selection and organization of materials as scenic play; and 3- structure and form as staging. The notion of composing music-as-theater is delimited in dialogue with: stances and works of composers like Luciano Berio, Péter Eötvös, Gilberto Mendes, Mauricio Kagel and Georges Aperghis; the categories musical theater, instrumental theater and Composite Theater, addressed in the bibliography on post-1960 concert music; the categories theatricality and dramaturgy, as discussed in the writings of theorists dealing with performing arts. In synthesis, composers move towards theater, they compose with gestual and visual materials, generating scores / scripts for scenic-musical performances. The practice of composing music-as-theater presupposes the expressive intention of incorporating the aesthetic dimension of theatricality of musical performance into the scope of compositional choices. It advances by adopting an approximation between composition and dramaturgy: composing consists in organizing a script of actions with and ‒ without sound implication ‒ musically concatenated and framed in devices of construction and sliding of narrative meanings. The portfolio features scores and audiovisual recordings of three pieces: O Espelho (2015-2017), As Gerações dos Mortais Assemelham-se às Folhas das Árvores (2015-2017) e I saw them together ‒ I heard them together (2017).

This thesis describes the Jongo festival of the Tamandaré communitys of Guaratinguetá, São Paulo, Brazil.
