No. of bitstreams: 1 Bruno Cesar Luz Macena Rocha.pdf: 2783358 bytes, checksum: 0c7cc3375d48be56cad1fcf79ba55824 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-06-17 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / In Saint Peter and Saint Paul archipelago (SPSPA), located at mid-Atlantic ridge, near to Equator line, population aspects of whale sharks was analized through in situ observation on distribution, seasonality, different behavior, and photo-identification. The movements of whale sharks was tracked using two models of satellite tag: SAT (Satellite Argos-linked transmitter) and PSAT (Pop up satellite archival transmitting tag) in one male (TB-01; 4.8 m) and one female (TB-02; 8.5 m),respectively. Whale shark occur in SPSP adjacencies yearround, although, are more abundant in the first semester, mainly, in February, March, and June. The annual record mean was 10.8 year-1 between 2000 and 2009. The size ranges from 1.8 to 14.0 m with mean± s.d. equal to 7.4± 2.4 m and the majority (62.9%) of whale sharks smaller than 9.0 m, under the estimated size at first maturation. Data received from Argos Satellite system indicate that the whale shark swam away from archipelago heading west. Both sharks spent the major of the time at surface, and the TB-02 dove into bathypelagic zone, attaining the maximum depth of 1,976 m. This was the first initiative to understand behavioral and population dynamics aspects of the whale sharks as well as the movement in Brazil and Equatorial Atlantic from SPSPA and will continue in the hope of building better conservation strategies.

Jahrhunderts

Lorenz, Hans Christopher 05 March 2015 (has links)
How can the aggregate of Theodor W. Adornos media-critical hypotheses be relativised to todays time-critical media which effect processes on the basis of algorithmic transformations – the most prominent contribution arguably being constituted by the chapter “The Culture Industry. Enlightenment as Mass Deception” (1944), formulated in collaboration with Max Horkheimer? Within which sphere can the concept of “manipulation” be expanded, or re-contextualised, if media systems – essentially “non-human actors” (Bruno Latour) – effect processes and decisions in the micro-temporal sphere and, thus, trigger a shift in emphasis and a re-definition of the concept of “critique of media” or “critique of time” even within technologically and epistemologically orientated scholarly media discourse? And which are the treatises by means of which Adorno may have himself already opened up a school of thought, supplementing the debate on the methods (and systems) of media functioning and media-specific temporal considerations as the basis for the manipulation of human perception at a subliminal level?

Uralt, ewig neu

Hennewig, Lena 13 November 2020 (has links)
Taking the Bauhaus signet, designed by Oskar Schlemmer in 1923, as a starting point, the present thesis examines the relationship between man and space – the two consistently named poles of Schlemmer’s work – within the œuvre of the Bauhaus master. It analyzes, questions and expands the assumption, at first glance suggested by the signet, that space and man are mutually dependent: The first chapter deals with man as the measure of all things. The type pursued by Schlemmer results, on the one hand, from his analysis of man via proportion and geometric studies by Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Dürer and Adolf Zeising that lead to a certain calculability. On the other hand, Schlemmer uses physiognomic ideas of Richarda Huch and Carl Gustav Carus to depict a certain de-individualization. Based on the results of the first chapter, the second chapter deals with questions of space. It shows that Schlemmer’s considerations of theoretical space and architecture stem from Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity and are fed by Bauhaus debates on that same topic: Schlemmer regards space and architecture as subject to change and dependent on man; this theory is also strengthened by his writings and his only surviving architectural design. To examine the reverse influence of space on the human body, the third chapter adds the Kunstfigur (art figure) as another category to the established two poles of Schlemmer’s œuvre discussed in the literature: man and space. The chapter proves that the Kunstfigur generates its own corporeality through the influence of space, which is modifiable by movement. Besides that, said corporeality is also determined by an abstraction, in turn caused by costumes and masks. These items also influence the outer appearance of man.
