The present work intends to investigate the concept of blessing in the Old Testament,
especially in the Pentateuch. The first part analyzes the general characteristics of the
term to bless / blessing in the Hebrew Bible and looks at the etymology, the
semantic field, the formulas, the gestures, rites and words of blessing. As blessing is
the continuous and permanent activity of God in history, the chapter finishes with the
concept of history in the ancient world. The second chapter makes an incursion into
the characteristics of the ancient biblical society in the two big periods of pre-state
Israel and Israel as a state. It studies the nomadic pre-history and the pre-state
sedentary Israel paying particular attention to the social organization in families,
clans and tribes. In the state period, it gives attention to the Deuteronomic reform and
its consequences in the social and religious life of Israel. The third chapter presents
the exegesis of selected texts. In the primeval history it looks at blessing in creation,
and in the patriarchal history it searches for the strokes of blessing in the family and
state context. It also deals with the priestly blessing in Numbers 6,22-27 with special
attention to the cult, and with selected texts from Deuteronomy that connect blessing
with covenant and endow it with conditionality. The last chapter presents a reflection
about family religion and state religion in Israel, and studies the characteristics of
blessing in both fields that interrelate not always without tensions- and articulate
between them.

homem rico (Lc 18.18-29); Zaqueu (Lc 19.1-10), e Arimateia (Lc 24.50-55).
O quinto
metanoia. / This is a study about the search for God and finding meaning in existence, with emphasis on
seekers who went to Jesus, stimulated by an imperative of its core, as narrated in the Gospel of
Luke. The goal is to identify motivations, results and demands for personal conversion, tracking
and following of Jesus, that can guide the pastoral groups linked to the traditional middle
classes. The first chapter treats with the restlessness of the human soul - the reasons for the
demand of basic needs to the search for meaning, considering philosophical thoughts and self-
transcendence. The second chapter is devoted to the Search for God: the encounter as a gift, and
the perspective of God as the Unconditioned (Tillich), presents God as a seeker by human
being (Heschel) and ends by analyzing the search for God in other spiritual dimensions. The
third chapter considers Jesus of Nazareth as a seeker of God, starting from the Palestinian
context and the choices made by Jesus in his ministry. In the fourth chapter - seekers and Jesus -
are shown the criteria for choosing the Gospel (Luke) and selection of pericopes: the Bethany
sinner (Luke 7, 36-49), the rich man (Lk. 18.18-29); Zacchaeus (Luke 19.1-10), and Joseph of
Arimathea (Luke 24.50-55). the analysis was finished with one study the Magi (Matthew 2.1-
12) and owned from Gerasa (Luke 8.26-39). The fifth chapter articulates self-transcendence and
follow Jesus. Among the findings highlight that the conversion and metanoia comes
accompanied by the distribution of wealth and stripping in favor of the poor. It was also noted
that the search for God is always related to the search for meaning. The pivot point is the mercy
for the poor and the discovery of God as "Unconditioned." It also concludes that the follow-up,
discipleship, conversion and self-transcendence are related, and that follow-up and
discipleship are manifested through successive levels and times. Another conclusion is that
Jesus also lived his self-transcendence, as a seeker of God, and interfaith dialogue and
ecumenism can be facilitated by the special relevance of mercy to the poor as the imperative of
metanoia.

Todavia, poucos
There is no doubt about the importance one should give to the words of the Good Shepherd in
John 10. Nevertheless, very few studies have dealt with the dynamics of the narrative, its
inner structure and especialy, with its relationship within the contex of the fourth gospel. We
know even less about the links of this text with others in the Old Testament, what is said in
the the Jewish Tradition and other writings betwween the two Testaments. Neediess to say
that a close study of these sources will give an exegetical and hermeneutical focus and a new
perspective to these words of Jesus. This could also be achieved without overlookin different
studies and interpretations os these verses given by worlwide known exegetes.

This paper provides an analysis of the encounter between Jesus and a Samaritan woman at the edge of Jacobs well as it is narrated in the Gospel of John 4,5-26. The first chapter examines the historical and socio-religious gospel text with special attention to the historical three pairs, which are: The rivalry between Jews and Samaritans; water as both a religious and a life element in contrast with the living water given by Jesus, and the historical journey of the patriarchal society in relation with women before the thought given by Jesus in the Gospel. The second chapter examines the present text drawing upon the historical-critical method, focusing in the semantic study of certain words and the dialogue between Jesus and the Samaritan woman that enrich their understanding. The contribution of extra-biblical traditions provides deeper insights of the text. The third chapter brings a theological-pastoral reflection over the analyzed text from the perspective of the encounter. The living water that Jesus offered suggests the imperfection of the previous waters that until then mediated the relationship with God. The Samaritan woman's encounter with Jesus through dialogue and progress deepens the originality of the Gift offered. We study its characteristics and its consequences. The fourth chapter presents the challenges provided by this text to the current culture emphasizing the need for an open dialogue to diversity. It outlines the need for recognition of the place of women in contemporary society, with emphasis on the religious arena. The conclusion opens up new questions and commitments signed out on the text: the need to continue walking toward a discipleship of equals as the foundation and essence of a Christian community that wants to live up to Jesus, and the necessary recognition of the place of women in contemporary society, with emphasis on the religious sphere.

This study deals with Christians from the beginning to today in the presence of the temptation to accommodate themselves to the world. It takes as point of support Revelation, chapter 2 and 3. In the first part, the research establishes a parallel between Apocalypse of John and the Jewish apocalyptic and the prophetic movement that preceded the apocalyptic movement in Israel. Although the letters written to the churches of Asia Minor, according to The Rev. 2-3, due to the optimism shown with respect to the present history, they are marked by a symbolic language associated with a crisis, since the context of these churches, at the end of the first century, is marked by conflict with the Roman Empire and Judaism. Thus, in the second part, the research shows that the pressure on the populations dominated by the Roman Empire was very strong, and the temptation to adapt them to the imperial system was too great. The Gnostic movement was in favour of the Empire, whose theories penetrated the churches with the support of leaders and members of their communities. In addressing the then seven Churches of Asia Minor, the author of Revelation 2-3 intended to arouse interest the communities to a "threat" that was not only external but also internal, namely the penetration of the Gnostic heresy, which favored adaptation of Christianity to the environment of the Roman Empire. In the third part, we found that the temptation to adapt to the world is still very present today. It's still very current, so the message contained in the letters addressed to the communities of Asia Minor, whose first purpose awaken Christians of their accommodation and their commitment to the present order. For today Christians, "seduced" by the current culture and so well adapted to society, they no longer perceive the contradictions in them, the appeal is to come back to Jesus Christ and "resume the conduct of old" (cf. Rev. 2,5), which means often put in the "opposite" of history, to witness, within a Christian community, that another world is possible.

a libertação, conversão e catequese aparecem no texto.
nossos dias. / Liberation, Conversion and Catechesis have the purpose, in John 9, to
identify the itinerary of a person born blind in order to profess publicly his adhesion of
faith to Jesus, as the Son of Man, in a time of exclusion from the synagogue.
The liberation from laws and rules not directed towards defending life and,
therefore, not according to the will of God, with regard to an excluding situation, takes
courage after having opened eyes and mind.
The first chapter considers the gospel according to the community of John as
a whole, pointing out its main characteristics, its relation to the Jewish Feasts and the
Sabbath. Chapter two deepens the study of the narration about the healing of the
man born blind so as to make clear how liberation, conversion and catechesis
become evident in the text. The narration presents the process of adhesion to Jesus
as the Son of Man, showing how, accordingly, Jesus has to be seen exactly like he
is. Therefore, the person who professes faith in Him, even in times of punishment
and exclusion by the Jews and Pharisees, needs having his eyes gradually opened.
The understanding of who Jesus is begins with doing what he orders, confronting
courageously the questionning by the group of Jews Pharisees and not fearing to
express an opinion contrary to theirs, even at the risk of punishment. The man born
blind now healed, who lets himself be illuminated by Jesus, is a model for the
community. Chapter three shows how the text of John 9 can be used for catechesis
and how the community of John, the Jewish and the ancient Christian communities
developed their catechetical process. Based on the itinerary of liberation and
conversion made by the man born blind now healed, indicative elements for the
catechesis of adults in our days are presented.

clara a compreensão do texto.
No segundo
The aim of this work is to try and highlight the human values present in the
interactive relations between Jesus and the women of his time. As a first step we look at some
points highlighted by an exegesis of the pericope Mk 14, 3-9 in order to get a better
understanding of the text. And in point 1.4, analysis of the content, we endeavour to
highlight the gesture of an anonymous woman, in the house of Simon the leper, anointing and
recognising Jesus as the Messiah hoped for by all. Her action guarantees for her the title of
prophetess or female prophet. In the second section of our text we see Jesus interacting freely
with women, including them in his discipleship of equals, rescuing their values and defending
them in face of the privileges of men. Through this we can substantiate the thesis that
throughout the entire history of the people of God we encounter the struggle (waged by)
women for a more dignified life either through their actions or silently. (Here) Jesus confirms
their actions and silences, giving them their rightful place and thus proclaiming them as a
paradigm of authentic discipleship.

Do mito do feminino ao feminino do mito: o enigma da mulher nas perspectivas psicanalítica e bíblica / The myth of female to male myth: the enigma of women in psychoanalytic perspective and biblicalAna Amália Torres Souza 26 May 2008 (has links)
The present survey is from theorical nature and, specifically of bibliographic nature. In a interdisciplinary perspective, it intends to go deeper into the mythic dimension of female and the feminine dimension of myth, beginning from the psychoanalytic contributions of Freud and Lacan, as so the narrative analysis study of the biblical text, pointing out, in this, the study of some women in the bible (mentioned in the gospel of Mathew and participants of the Christ genealogy). Elaborated in the atmosphere of dialog between psychoanalyze and biblical literature, the present work hopes to offer contributions to the theory and psycanalitic clinic and religion science, in reference of female conception and its implications.

The theme the jewish ritual symbolic system from Jesus‟ time, one of the primitive Christianity‟s main roots and its self-affirmation as religion involves an analysis of
the ritual elements which guided the Judaism from the Jesus‟ time and that was used as a base to the primitive Christianity appearance. This work will consider the jewish religious cultural system from the first century of the Christian time and how it influenced the ritual symbolic
system of primitive Christian signs, which begings with Jesus Himself. We are going to start with an approach about the religion, searching a huge vision of the cultural phenomenon and the religion function. The main focus turns around three poles: The jewish ritual symbolic
system from the Jesus‟ time, as one of the primitive Christianity‟s main roots, the importance of the historical Jesus to the raise of the primitive Christian religion and the transformation of the jewish religion through the post-paschal faith in Christ. The historical Jesus is, from the
post-paschal faith on, the presence of the primordial creator and the eschatological judge. He is one with God. The primitive Christian religion, from that time on, is going to find ways to become an autonomous religion, reusing the essence of the ritual symbolic system of jewish
signs, and giving them a new meaning from Jesus on

This paper aims to evaluate the role of Sacred Scripture in the framing of the novels Nenhum olhar (2005) and Cemitério de pianos (2008), by Portuguese writer José Luís Peixoto. The starting point is that, in both works, the dialog with biblical text is determinant to the interpretation process. After a review of the novelist’s critical fortune and of the proposition of a dialog between the Bible and Literature in the academical scope, basic elements of narrative framing are introduced, according to the concepts of fable e plot, by Boris Tomashevski. Starting from the theory by Gérard Genette, Peixoto’s novels are taken as hypertexts of the Scripture, in a transpositional and parodic perspective. In view of the approximation between the novels and the Bible, the main aspects of Augustinian hermeneutics are presented, with the goal of subsidizing the works’ analysis. The imagery explored by José Luís Peixoto in his narratives is also analysed under this perspective, acknowledging in the novels the biblical bipolarity between apocalyptic and demonic world and the questioningly updating of a series of iconic images of the Judeo-Christian paradigm, with highlight on the image of family. The novels’ reiterative structure is also analysed, in dialog with the typological and scatological conception of time in the Bible and with the notion of repetition, by Søren Kierkegaard. The retrieval of elements from biblical hypotext, transposing them through parody to new contexts, problematizes the Christian worldview and its answers to postmodern questionings.
