Jacson Antonio da Silva Andrade 24 April 2014 (has links)
The present study aims to present a proposal for teaching of sentence, absolute and prayers prayers coordinates by comics. This work that converses with the reality of the modern world that, mainly due to information technologies connected in network, increasingly throw hand of dynamic and attractive communication visual-verb. This communication which, by despreocupações with the standard usage of the language, generates impacts on communication in other sectors that require different attitudes concerning the use of the language. The theoretical framework of methodological proposal is guided by bakhtinianos assumptions which include the dialogia, the enunciation, the discursive genres, ideology and, mainly, the stylistic language education issues. This material was worked in order to give support for that proposal could offer elementary students grammar knowledge, so they then can be inserted in other works of stylistic analysis. The grammatical topics worked were: phrase, prayers and absolute coordinates. By way of background, are also here a short and important historical panorama of comics, passing by the practice in use figures in communication until the suspicions about the use of comics in education. Are also made brief comments on the misconceptions generated over grammar teaching and the presentation of sign-ideological possibilities that cause these misconceptions. Finally, this proposal is not intended to replace traditional grammars, only a supporting material to the teacher and the student in the teaching / learning of important content selected grammatical process. One way to make a little more meaningful education. Also, this work is entered in the investigative field of Applied Linguistics, as it contributes to the teaching of the mother tongue.

Tecknade serier i klassrummet : Elevers attityd till serier i årskurs 6 / Comics in the classroom : Students' attitude to comics in grade 6

Lindstedt Önneskog, Theréz January 2019 (has links)

The Influence of Engagement with Graphic Narrative Text Formats on Student Attitudes Towards the School Library

Stephens, Wendy Steadman 12 1900 (has links)
Comics, graphic novels, and manga differ appreciably from textual narrative formats, and materials with increasingly visual elements have found their way into progressive and student-centered library collections. But many educators and librarians still resist inclusion of graphic narratives in school libraries and devalue the reading practice of students who prefer more visual texts. Using the framework of radical change, which posits that both text conventions and reader expectations for text are increasingly multimodal as they possess characteristics of evolving digital media, this study considered the relationship of the characteristics of text individual students prefer, particularly those they select from the school library, and their attitudes towards aspects of reading practice as evidenced through the Adolescent Motivation to Read Profile instrument. Survey data was supplemented with circulation history from the library management system to inform a correlational study punctuating attitudinal differences based on reader preferences. Findings include high school students who engage with graphic narrative text formats reporting more favorable views of libraries and reading. There is a demonstrable distinction in attitudes between students who prefer more visual text when compared with peers with more traditional print affinities. Student engaging with graphic narrative texts also report more frequent engagement with text overall. These demonstrated relationships should help to legitimize the inclusion of more graphic narrative text formats in school library collections.

Twitter and the comic book fan community: Building identities and relationships in 140 characters

Hong, Laura 01 January 2015 (has links)
The following study examined identity construction and community formation within the comic book fan community on the social media website, Twitter It had three objectives It investigated how comic book fans constructed their respective identities on Twitter, explored how fans came to identify with the comic book community and why it formed, and aimed to discover how the community was maintained and expanded The study applied an ethnographic method that relied on the analysis of dialogue Ten comic book fans (five males, five females) that frequently used Twitter to communicate with other fans were video interviewed It was found that comic book fans constructed their identities using their Twitter biography and profile picture and they all believed they were communicating their true and genuine selves The biography, profile picture, and tweets reinforced the rhetoric of what it meant to be a comic book fan It was this visual and written rhetoric that enabled comic book fans to identify with one another and bring the community into being Without this rhetoric, there is no community The community maintained itself through the continued reinforcement of this rhetoric It expanded itself by bringing comic book fans from different backgrounds, locations, and nationalities together online around a shared interest The study also found that the relationships formed within the community could develop into real friendships, the same caliber of friendship that individuals would normally have with those they knew and met in real life.

Le Devin Du Village: a Product of the "Guerre Des Bouffons"

Reynolds, William Jensen 08 1900 (has links)
The significance of this opera, Le Devin du Village, lies not in the fact that it is great music, but in the fact of its historical importance. Its appearance in 1752, with its revolutionary ideas, heralds the coming of what we consider today as native French comic opera; i. e., native in the sense that it is composed by Frenchmen, although adapted from the Italian style in many respects. Another claim of uniqueness that might be made for this work is that its composer was no recognized musician, but one of the greatest pre-Revolution philosophers. His open-minded ness and eagerness to break loose the bonds of the traditional French "Chauvinism" and musical isolationism, brought forth this musical effort on his part, clothed in native atmosphere, yet embodying the spirit of Italian music. From the private library of Isaac Lloyd Hibberd, the writer was fortunate in having access to a first edition of Le Devin du Village, which has added greatly to an appreciable understanding of the music of this work.

The American Way: What Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and the X-Men Reveal About America

Darowski, Joseph J. 25 July 2006 (has links) (PDF)
Comic book superheroes have become adopted into American popular culture, and yet few have considered why these characters resonate with Americans. The first comic book superhero premiered in 1938 when Superman appeared on the cover of the first issue of Action Comics. For almost seventy years his adventures and the adventures of other costumed heroes have been continually published. Batman soon joined Superman as a popular costumed crime-fighter, and the early 1960s saw another generation of superheroes created that would be embraced in American culture. Among this new group of heroes were Spider-Man and the X-Men, who have proved as popular as Superman and Batman. The never-ending narratives of comic book characters provide a unique opportunity to analyze how superheroes have evolved across the decades to remain relevant for new generations of Americans. Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and the X-Men are the most popular heroes, not only in comic books, but in other media adaptations. An exploration of why these specific characters have such resonance with Americans will provide insights into American mindsets, ideologies, and philosophies. Furthermore, comic books are uniquely positioned to allow a new historicist reading, as the characters' adventures have been published on a monthly schedule for decades. A consideration of the alterations made in the narratives to reflect the time periods is inherently enlightening.

[pt] ANATOMIA DO CÔMICO / [en] ANATOMY OF THE COMIC

FELIPE RAMOS GALL 08 June 2021 (has links)
[en] Anatomy of the Comic is a philosophical investigation concerning that experience that is so familiar to us, at the same time that is so mysterious, which is the perception of something comical, something that makes us laugh. Having as a preliminary position the postulate that it is not possible to formulate an exhaustive conceptual definition of the comic, it was sought, instead, to delimit its horizon in four possible aspects, namely: the moral, the rhetorical, the melancholic, and the grotesque. To this end, we started from an analysis of the Platonic and Aristotelian corpora, where we investigate how the comic, comedy and laughter were thematized in the works of these authors, and in what way the comic, as a problem, dialogues with other questions and is inserted in the organization of their thoughts. It will be seen, from these analyses and from the profound intuitions of these philosophers, that both the notion of common sense, as elaborated in this thesis, and the strange ontological condition of the human being, which vacillates between spirituality and animality, are the key elements to think about the various aspects of the comic mentioned above.
